Ellie is downstairs, whistling while she cleans the living room dressed in casual clothes. A simple pair of jeans and a shirt, with her hair pulled under a tied up handkerchief.

"I woke up to go to the bathroom and noticed you weren't in bed... why are you cleaning so early?"
"I don't sleep as much as you do. I usually do stuff around the house, then go back to bed before you wake up."
"I... so I've been sleeping alone for a long time? I feel somewhat sad about it."
"Aww, that's not true at all. I like just laying down next to you and have you hug me."
"But you are awake all that time?"
"Most of the time."

Cedric walks over, andcasually picks her up to kiss her, sits her down on the kitchen counter and keeps kissing her as she squirms and giggles.

"Cedric, what are you doing!?"
"It is your fault, you know?"
"But..."

He quiets her down with a kiss.

"...uhmmm"

Well, they have to stop when Stella starts barking and nibbling at his pents. From the tiny puppy's POV, the whole scene looks quite scary.

Plus, she's hungry

"Alright, alright." -Cedric smooches Ellie again, then reaches for Stella's food and pours her a bowl.

"We should start getting ready for work" -Ellie takes off the handkerchief from her hair and packs it away
"Right, well, let's go run for a bit, then we'll have a shower, then."

Stella looks quite happy to be going out, and she tugs at the leash with all her (puppy) might.

"Do you want to try other route, or should we go to the park as usual?"
"Let's go to the park, I like it a lot."
"Alright"

Cedric sighs a little as he looks at her. Sure, weather its much nicer right now, but its still chill enough that he wants to wear a sweater, how can she be in running shorts?

The park feels quite fresh at this hour. The birds are quite noisy this early, but it only helps it feel alive.

As they run around, they cross with a few fellow joggers, including the man in the metallic-colored jogging suit that Ellie saw when she first arrived here.

"Ellie, what is it?" -he asks while looking at her. She's stopped and is looking in the man's direction
"I think that was the first human I ever saw."
"How can you tell? we don't all look the same to you?" -he jokes as he kisses her forehead- "Let's go"

Later, after enjoying a shower together and dressing up, they are on their way to work. Finally, he's letting her drive his pick up truck... well, he's quite nervous, but keeps his comments to himself.

"The steering wheel is hard!" -is the first thing she says when she gets off the pick up after parking it outside of the station

The sergeant is sitting behind the desk at the entrance, as usual. He is talking by phone with someone and writing stuff down. He waves at us and hands a note to Ellie.

"Ok, we'll ge in a moment." -she says

They go into the changing rooms to don their uniforms, take their guns out of the armery, sign them off, and go into the patrol car.

"Someone broke lastnight into the mall, but nothing was stolen. Sergeant wants us to go take their declarations and see what we can find."
"Think it was someone fleeing the cold?"

Ellie shrugs. Well, she doesn't minds the cold to begin with.

"...yes, nothing was stolen, but the emergency door was broken through. It's really strange. It doesn't even has a lock on the outside."

While Ellie is taking the statements, Cedric looks around and notices that whoever did this had very dirty and small feet. There are prints all over the place, but nowhere where a camera would caught who made them.

Maybe a runaway kid?

"Are you sure nothing was stilen? I mean, clothes, food? you have food stands, right?"
"I guess nobody would notice a missing hot dog..."

When they ask the fast food stand, the clerk looks around and finds some bread buns missing, as well as some wieners.

Cedric doesn't finds anything else, and goes back to Ellie, then talk about it on the car.

"So, some food and nothing else?" -he asks
"Yes, what did you find?"
"Just some small footprints. Think it was a runaway kid?"
"Oh, I hope we find him soon, then."

They continue their patrol while talking to the sergeant over the radio, asking about missing children reports, but there is none.

"Maybe he came here from another town, then? I will ask around other stations." -says the sergeant

As they continue their patrol, they get another call about a break in. This time food was indeed reported missing from someone's kitchen.

As they arrive on the scene, they find a elderly man at the door of his house, waiting for them with a rather unfriendly expression.

"The kitchen's window was broken, and my poor dog is terrified..." -the old man starts blaming the police for his dog crapping all over the house...

Meanwhile, Ellie is questioning the dog...

It was a really ugly kid, with a low forehead and protuding tusks. Yellow eyes with tiny black irises, and rat-like ears. It smelled as if it had been dead for a while, and looked at the dog as if it was considering what it's taste be like.

Ellie pats oats the dog and tells him that he's a good dog, and not to worry.

The dog is also sad because it stile his rubber bone.

"I'll get it back for you!" -promises Ellie with a serious expression.

The dog looks a lot better now.

A bit later on the car:

"Its a goblin" -she says, perfectly serious
"Ah, a goblind." -Cedric just goes with it.- "What is that?"
"Uhmm... I guess its a race of vagrants and hobos. They're pretty short, and just care about their next meal."
"Sounds like a short hobo, alright. So, did your people bring one along? we are talking about something from your old world, right?"
"We wouldn't bring those with us!"
"Then how did it got here?"
"I don't know..."

Well, the elven neighborhood is quite peaceful now that the media hype has calmed down. It is still mostly one street with houses around it and a round plaza at the end, then there are trees around the houses.

The doors are almost universally open, as are the windows, and it looks as if they go from one house to another without worrying about it too much.

Thieves? have you ever seen a elven roller? you know, what they breed instead of dogs. It looks like one of those little critters from B movies, only, bear-sized.

We find Ellie's dad working on his greenhouse, where he is rising plenty of different plants now. This seems to be what interests him the most, seeing the plants from a new world and finding uses for them.

"A goblin?" -he seems bothered by it the way most people would be when talking about rats in their kitchens.- "It is possible that some followed us when we crossed over, but they would have had to come through the gate after we did, and before it closed. They are small enough and light enough to make it through while it is closing, but it would have to be a rather brave one. It is just one, right?"
"As far as we know, yes."
"Ah, good. It wouldn't be funny if we had brought along some pest from the other world. Can you imagine?"
"Yeah, he he... that would be pretty irresponsible, traveling to a new world and bringing in plagues... who would do that..." -says Cedric while thinking about spaniards and british settlers

By the time lunch is over, Cedric knows a lot about goblins.

"Well, I guess we should call the sergeant and let him know what's going on now."

"..yes sergeant. that's right. They're not elves at all, they're some other race... right... yes, we dont know, but apparently just one. Yeah, we will try to take it alive to you. Alright"

"I'll come back on the weekend, father." -she smooches her dad on the cheek as we are leaving
"Alright, take care sweetie." -he kisses her back, and sees us leave.

"So, do goblins have magical powers, can they spit acid or something?"
"No, they're just really mean and and selfish."
"Sounds like a brat more than anything else. Will the stunguns work fine?"
"They should, sure. Why are you going straight for the stun gun? i thought you would want to try talking to it first."
"I don't speak goblin. If I was alone in a different world and some giant came to grab me, I'd fight back"
"Right"

After the sergeant hears about the details, he notifies the patrols to be on the lookout for the little creep, and stun it if possible.

With no more calls on the rest of the day, we end our shift for today, and go back home. Stella looks plenty happy to see us, and demands to be picked up so she can lick at us.

"Alright, alright." -Ellie picks the puppy up and smooches it- "Now I understand why you humans like dogs so much."
"I humans like you a lot, too." -says Cedric as he hugs her gently and closes the door behind him.
