"Black Hearts. Cold Steel. Dark Deeds."

These are the words of the Black Company, the infamous band of mercenaries that has been on one side or the other of every major conflict on the continent since its founding.
The Company has seldom cared who they fight for or the cause so long as they are paid, and paid well, when the killing work is done. Though they may be considered by some to be little more than glorified brigands, it cannot be said that the Black Company is not good at what they do.

Recently the Company has taken up a contract with a new employer, one more powerful than any that have come before. An employer with endless ambition, as well as the means and lack of moral scruples needed to pursue it. An employer that pays well...

"Well done, Corporal Prince." The burly Black Company Head-of-Supply Quar Tel shakes your hand, the bag of Gelt and silver swapping owners in the exchange. "That should show those corpse-fekkers that Black Company Supply means business."

There had been an awkward moment earlier when Quar Tel had asked for proof of the cultist quatermaster's death. Luckily Trooper Schuster had filched his signet ring while you were busy uncovering fresh fuel for your nightmare hours. The ring was worthless, but tacky and recognisable enough for Quar Tel to accept it as proof. You make a mental note to remember to take some form of proof of a completed job in the future when necessary.

"Obviously any number of cultists are no match for you Kriegstrom lads." Quar Tel continues "But it takes some serious stones to be willing to risk pissing off our employer's sister. Tell you what, we've just finished taking stock of things now and we've got a few items that'll suit your needs. I'll give you a one time 15% discount on one of our stands, you can cash it in today or tommorow."

Quar Tel is the worst kind of Black Company Supplyman, the type that's actually decent in a brawl so you can't just intimidate him into requisitioning supplies. Luckily it was a few other Corporals that tried it before been showed the error of their ways. Of course everyone whinges about it, but that's just what soldiers do. If you're honest with yourself you'll admit he's always been firm but fair in his management of supplies.

"Good pay gets you men with the stones to earn it, glad to be of service." You say, chucking the pouch to Trooper Schuster who proceeds to count it.

1 Gelt per man, or woman as it were, not bad for an easy job of cutting down some untrained cultists. Schuster will spend it on drinks and dice, for sure. Belhamun might be a little wiser with his earnings...or he might be swindled out of it if he doesn't understand the local currency. And Mask? You don't even know what Mask could spend money on.

Sweet, still enough for cards with the lads tonight.

---------------------------------------

Well, you know what they say, a man can never have too many knives. A dagger in the right place can mean all the difference, so you take four or five of them and place them all over.

The daggers are just common sense though, what really catches your eye is the cloak. It's a damn fine looking piece of gear, so you don't feel too bad spending most of your earnings on it.

Clasping the thing on, you cut quite a striking figure. Or so you suppose, Quar Tel doesn't have a mirror on hand but a nearby polished breastplate suffices. Turning to your squaddies still dividing their share of the job-money you muster what your idea of an authoritive sounding voice is and ask:

"SO HOW DO I LOOK?"

Trooper Belhamun, his back turned to you, jumps off the crate he was sitting on at your booming voice babbling in his home language. Trooper Schuster breaks out into fits of laughter seeing him virtually dive into Mask's arms.

"Damnation boss, ain't nobody going to be ignoring you when you have something to say now. Can you turn it off?"

"OH ER YEs I think so. There." Looks like you only have to will it on and off again, easy as stealing pie.

"Anyway boss, I think we should be getting back to the others. Lancer 'Jack' must be-" Trooper Schuster trails off as she looks behind you.

"Corporal Prince!"

"Sir!" You respond automatically, recognising the authoritive tone of the Liuetenant from anywhere. Sure, the Company has 13 Lieutenants and he probably has an actual name after the rank, but he's the one in charge of the Kriegstrom so he's the only one you lot pay any heed to.

"Your new addition to the squad has their paperwork all sorted?"

"Yes, sir."

"Named 'Kid', was it?"

"Yes, sir."

"They all equipped?"

"Yes, sir." You wonder, for the millionth time, why all officers feel the need to ask questions they already know the answer to.

"Good, send them my way. The Annalist is ready to swear him in officially."

"Yes, sir." You remember saying the words yourself all those years ago, I etc etc do solemnly swear blah-blah. Important stuff of course, but you don't need to be there for it really.

You nod, technically the 'Kid' was Black Company the moment they were entered into the paybook, but it doesn't really count until you say the words and the Annalist writes your name in his books. Tradition is important.

"I'll take them there myself."

The Lieutenant shakes his head. "Not you, Prince. I appreciate your willingness to observe the tradition, but the Lord-Captain wants a word with you."

Oh sweet, you don't have to sit through another boring (though important, really) swearing in. Wait, did he say Lord-Captain?

Fek.

About 5 minutes later you find yourself in Lord-Captain Kiranova's tent, standing in front of Lord-Captain Kiranova's desk. What could she want? Kill you? Screw you? Oh no... promote you? There's... well to say 'history between you' is putting it lightly, but you can't stop yourself from tensing up when you hear her approach from outside.

Ruthless, ex-lover, comrade. The fact that she's the Lord-Captain overrules all these things. You snap to a flashy intention when The Captain enters the tent. She pauses a moment, inspecting your posture you assume, before taking a seat.

"At ease, Corporal." Yep, no hint of tenderness there. And no more than the usual amount of disdain either. You guess this is just business then, Then again, 'Cut-throat' Kiranova always was a cold-hearted bitch. Could be she just honestly doesn't give a damn about your mutual past.

"Rumour spreads fast in the Company, I'm guessing you've already heard the final assault is tommorrow night. The undead horde has been assailing the walls for the past few days, not making much progress without proper siege equipment of course, but enough to keep the defender's on the walls constantly while our engineers have been constructing siege-towers."

"Yes, Lord-Captain."

"Captain is fine, Corporal, the 'Lord' part is just an honorific." She waves her hand. "Anyway, our employer is growing impatient. He wants something in place to guarentee the fall of Sarsburg should the main assault falter. To that end he has demanded a Squad of Kriegstrom Shock Troops to sieze a side gateway during the assault, escort some cultists specialists in or somesuch, and provide a bodyguard detail while they do their work. They've not chosen to elighten me with the details of what they're doing, but I'm offering double-pay to anyone willing to take them on."

That's... interesting. You wonder if you're even the first Kriegstrom Corporal she made this offer to. And why is it 'voluntary'? Really she could just order a squad to go.

Still...double pay....

Double pay? Doing the mental math in your head you figure that to be around twice as much as normal. Sweet.

"I'm your man, Captain." You grin hungrily. "You had me at 'double pay'."

The Captain arches an eyebrow at you. "Double pay was the very last thing I said."

"Yeah, well it worked didn't it?" You're still grinning at the thought of you swimming in Gelt.

"Damn, fool." She sighs "You haven't changed a bit. Dismissed."

"Oh and Corproal Prince?" You halt at tent's entrance. "Don't get yourself killed, that's an order."

"That's always the plan, Captain." You chuckle darkly "That's always the plan..."

Finally, business done for the day, you make your way over to where your old comrades have set up a makeshift card table. Around it sit your fellow Brothers, lads who have been Black Company just as long as you.

CPL 'Trots' Damien of the 12th Cavalry. Tempestuous and daring, he's been demoted and promoted to every rank between First Lieutenant and common Trooper. CPL Hadrien 'Bad Hand' of the 8th Kriegstrom. Strong, loud, dependable... and utterly insane. CPL 'Whisper' Smythe of the 10th Rangers. Withdrawn and sullen around others, many might consider him 'creepy'. And Sergeant 'Blind' Griff of the 2nd Infantry. Clever and dependable, you both signed up to Black Company on the very same day.

Bless your soppy black heart, but it's good to see them. There's a little bit of silver on the table, not enough to bankrupt anyone. Like the others, you play this more for the tradition of getting all your bad luck out of the way before a big battle. That and to keep your mind off it.

"You're late, brother." Corporal Hadrien 'Bad Hand' grunts as you finally take your seat that the table.

"And you're losing, brother." You shoot back, pointing out his rapidly dwindling coinage. "Deal me in on the next round."

"He'll push South to the Isle of Mages." You nod with confidence "He'll want any sorceror or mage that can hold a candle to him deader than his army."

"Makes sense." Sergeant Griff grunts "If there's one thing that wizards hate, it's other wizards."

You spend the rest of the evening amiably with your brothers, complaining about the lack of this or that (mostly coin, women and good food) and sharing warries (war stories) that you've all heard a dozen times before. Eventually you pack away your earnings and the group breaks up.

Corporal Hadrien 'Bad Hand' pulls you aside as the two of you leave.

"Listen brother, it's the Big One tommorow, right?" You notice him shifting on his feet nervously. Anything that makes crazy Hadrien nervous tends to make you nervous.

"...And?"

"And well, we all have affairs we need to settle, right? Regrets, last wishes and the like..."

Oh no he didn't. He's talking about a Death Note, isn't he? That's the worst kind of luck before a big battle.

"Oh no you don't, brother. I'm not holding onto your teary letter for some lass you've got stowed away. Not doing it."

"You don't have to deliver nothing to nobody, I swear. Just... just read it if, well you know..." He looks at you imploringly "Please, brother!"

>You can pay for more decent equipment out of your own purse, or the Squad Fun. Or you can 'encourage' them to spend a bit more on their own survivability. Generally you'll have to complete Companion Quests before you can deck them out at will.
how about we use the squad funds to pay for half of what ever they buy.
So its a happy medium.

"Fine." Snatching the damn Death Note out of his hands. "Fekking hell, 'Bad Hand'. If you die I'm going to kill you."

"Aye you can damn well try, Prince." Corporal Hadrien grins. "Night brother, sleep well. And keep an eye out on the way back to your tent, I heard something got out of the Cultist Encampment, a few Yellow Dogs have gone missing."

He's just saying that, surely? True or not, nothing gobbles you up on the way to your tent. You find a cup of Darkwood Tea waiting for you, probably brewed up by Kid. It's cold now, but after so many days without it's still appreciated. You knew you saved him/her for a reason.

....

It's a day like any other; wake up, shave, meditate. You slept well, the Tea might have helped, and you find yourself free for a bit before the demands of the day call upon you.

What do you do with your free time?

It's baffling to me that anyone even bothers responding to samefag accusations.

Equally baffling is that people keep posting meaningless screenshots that take a few seconds in paint to alter and think it's compelling evidence.

You can't prove you're not samefagging, they can't prove you are. Why this circular argument gets started is beyond me.

Not always, I'd only allow this sort of thing before 'The Big One' (major engagements). Unfortunately you won't be able to spam meditation for the day-to-day grind.
>>41469097

You must cut off the head of the snake, that is the path to victory.

> TEMPERORAY SKILL GAINED (48 hrs)
> Face Me!
> 'Two men enter, one man leaves. The ballads are full of songs such as these.'
> Single out a a nearby enemy leader or strong warrior for single combat. They may not refuse (or have others assist) without penalty.

--------------------------------

With your medidation finished, you set about with the business of the day. You'll want your squad resting in the afternoon if you're stepping off in the dead of night. But there should be time enough to do something to keep their minds off the 'Big One' until then.

-----------------------------

Damn this Cloak is nifty. It's like your voice is amplified to twice it's normal volume. Drill-Sergeant Casker couldn't hope to hold a candle to you, even if he wasn't 3 years in the ground. You wonder if this cloak also works while singing...

Sadly, you're so enraptured by your new toy that you don't pay enough attention to the actual progress being made. The Squad doesn't get any better, but they do maintain the standard set from yesterday.

> Squad Combat +5 remains in action, no other effects.

With that all done, you and Lancer 'Jack' make sure the squad sits down, gets some water and rest up. It's going to be a long night after all. You spend your time with the squad, addressing little worries or issues each might have, generally reassuring them and other 'leader-stuff'.

In particular you talk to:

---------------------------------

(Pick Two)
> Lance-Corporal 'Jack' Marcus
> Knight-of-the-Line Pietre Verdun

It's not exactly faithful to the original beyond the Annalist and other pieces.

That's not to say it isn't cannon it's just that this portion of the Black Company split hundreds of years ago and winded up in this fantasy-world. Magic is... different. Not so OP given the drawbacks they entail.

"Hey there, Trooper. Finally said the words, huh?"

Kid shakes their head.

"...what do you mean, no?"

"I was there, boss." Trooper Schuster pipes up "Kid didn't make nary a peep. Annalist had to get the words written down and signed, all awkward-like."

Well Dark-fekking-Father. Come to think of it you don't remember Kid speaking at all, even when they were about to throw them in the Pit.

"Can...can you talk at all, lad?"

Kid makes a croaking noise and shakes his/her head. You guess that answers that. Speaking of which...

"Kid. Are you a boy or a girl?"

Needless to say Kid stares at you like you asked what colour undergarments Sergeant Frowns-at-Children is wearing today.

"Right, nevermind. What have you got there?"

Kid hands you the piece of cloth they've been stitching up.

The mystery of Kids gender still unresolved, you offer a few more reassuring words. You correct their stance on a few things, offer some tips. Finally, you tell them to stay at the back of the fighting. They'll be fine just waving that banner around, knifing anyone that comes too close.

"Corporal." Lance Corporal 'Jack' Marcus grunts as you approach.

"Marcus." You pause, looking out at the sunset over Sarsburg. Might be the last sunset a lot of people ever see. "...you think they're ready?"

Marcus doesn't answer for a long while. "No, Prince." he sighs "But they never are."

You guess he has a point there. Sieges are nasty things. On a battlefield you can hold formations easily enough, stand your ground and rely on the man next to you. But cities? Things tend to get messy.

"I always wanted to go to Sarsburg." Marcus says wistfully "As a kid, you know? Make my fortune in the Golden City, retire and have a dozen kids. Still thought I'd do it after my service. But then the wars started, and they never stopped. And here I am, at the gates of my own country... on the other side."

"Having second thoughts?" You glance at him sideways.

"No." He says with feeling "I've made my choices, I'm a brother of the Black Company. And that's that."

The two of you sit like that silently for a while. You wonder if you'll have to bury another friend tomorrow, or if this time they'll be burying you.

Finishing what might be your last good cuppa of Darkwood Tea (nice and hot this time, good job Kid) you gather your squad, gear stowed away, blades sharpened and hard looks all around. Even Kid has a sort-of fierce scowl to match Smiles-at-Dice. Sure, maybe Marcus is right to say no one can be truly ready for this. But they're as ready as they'll ever be.

Stepping off, you decide to take one last look at The Post. It all seems the same, there'll definitely be plenty of new jobs when the city falls, but it can't hurt to look. Looks like some Yellow Dogs turned in the 'Runaways', and some Turncoat boys took the 'Most Wanted' job.
--------------------

>Pack Payback
Job: Kill 4 Turncoat Soldiers
Employer: Packmaster Farral
Yesterday a few Turncoat pricks killed a few of our boys in the Den. I don't care if you get the ones who did it, just bring me some Turncoat scalps.
Reward: 50 Silver on completion, bonus 10 for every extra kill.

Job: Escort the Prisoner and collet the ransom
Employer: BloodKnight Dortarra, second to Lord Vermillio
A ransom has been agreed upon for some sniveling Chevalisse pup. The ransomers are disinclined to treat with us, so mortals are required to make the actual exchange. Take the prisoner to the Farmhouse South-West of here and await their arrival.
Reward: 40 silver, Full Rights to Loot (Undead mission bonus)

>Burn it to the Ground
Job: Raze the Chapel, FULL SQUAD REQUIRED
Employer: Superior Syka
The Temple of Saint Meriam to the South-East is an affront to our Unholy Work. My Glorious Brother's forces are busy with the siege of Sarsburg, so your services are necessary. We do have to be careful if we take this approach. We're dealing with a necromancer. Who knows to what degree of sentience he can revive a corpse with. If we make ourselves too much of a nuisance, then there's a good chance the necromancer may want to bring back whatever corpse we bring to him for a good taunting.

Not a bad plan. Unless you're recognized by the cultists that survived the other day when you hand in the bounty.

That and explaining to your superiors why you took on a job regarding an alleged fellow Brother.

So lets save up for new armour and only wear different armour when its time to pretend to be some one else.

We could perhaps convince Syka that Aeron is a vengeful spirit of the black company and that all this ahem 'necromancy energy' is causing him to be more active. Not much she could do if she believes him to be a by-product of her brother's powers.
>>
>>41471446
So let's try and make ourselves indispensable. And if possible kill one or two of the cultists that saw us, if we can do it with out anyone finding out.
the less people know about us in that situation, the better.

You find yourself insulted by the paltry bounty, but decide to put on a show for anyone watching. Besides, the squad could use a laugh.

"What manner of black-hearted villainy is this?" You raise your fist to the skies indignantly. "Rest easy, Troopers, I swear on my honour I shall bring this Corporal Aeron to justice!"

It's nervous laughter, sure, with their mind on the imminent threat of death and all, but it's laughter nonetheless. A good chuckle takes the edge off the fear you know they're all feeling, and even the dour Marcus has a sly grin at your antics.

So this is it. You've followed every dirty trick in the book of dirty tricks. Mud on the face, dulled the shine of your blades and armour the same way, and Smiles-at-Dice even took time to cover the two ladders in branches and leaves. And himself.

The Southernmost walls of Sarsburg loom ahead of you. These Neumunster boys aren't thick, they've cleared a nice portion of land between the trees you're hiding in and the wall itself. But with the main assault hit the North-West, you can already hear the din of battle and the lights in the sky as flaming arrows and catapults hurl bacck and forth, you doubt they'll have spared much manpower here. With any luck they'll be focusing on the obvious attack, not this one.

You take a deep breath, closing your eyes as you breathe out slowly. With a raised hand you signal your squad, here goes nothing.

Leading by example and all that noble rubbish, you go first. The gatehouse is less than 40 paces to your right, and there's not a soul looking in your direction as the rest of the squad clambers up.

The first Neumunster soldier you spot never sees you, too busy grimly watching the fireworks to the North until your hand clamps over his mouth and finish him, quiet-like, with a dagger. You knew those would come in handy.

Basics

Personal Combat DC starts out at DC50. Your positive attributes add to the DC and your opponent's detracts from it. For every 5 or more points you beat the DC by, the opponent takes a point of damage (same for failing the DC).

Squad Combat is Squad rolls vs Enemy rolls, so higher is better.

It's a slaughter as your squad falls upon the surprised Neumunster troops. Some don't even have time to draw their weapons as your troopers sink into them. With Pietre Verdun and Mask competing with one another for kills, in a matter of seconds the room quickly becomes a charnel house.

The Neumunster Sergeant is fast, but these close quarters don't really leave him much room to maneuver.

Parrying a blow with a shaft of his halberd, he shouts to his few remaining men.

"Hold your ground! You're fighting for your homes, your famili-AGH!" You cut him off by smashing his polearm in two, slashing his left arm in the process. Backed into a corner, he draws his swortsword with good hand.

>CUT THEM DOWN: Neumunster Sergeant 'Wilhelm'

You bring your knee up into the leaping Sergeant's stomach, bringing him to his knees with a gasp. As you bring your blade up for the death blow he glares at you defiantly.

"For the Emp-*CRUNCH*"

That was some bloody work. You're glad it's their blood, your boys seem to be without a scratch. In 10 seconds the Southern Gatehouse is yours, and no alarm at that. You don't know when the next change of the watch is though, a fresh Neumunster squad could be arriving any moment. You set up a perimeter and open the gate for the cultists waiting in the woods.
Thankfully, no one is stupid enough to be out on the streets so they're relatively unnoticed. Still, you notice a few candles starting to burn in some windows as one or two busy-bodies wake up at the little noise you made.

Well, that looks like all of them. Scurrying around, drawing little pentagrams doing their thing. Whatever that. Actually, that's not a few pentagrams. That's a lot. ...You start to make some swift calculations and none of them lead to pleasant results.

"Good work, soldier." A feminine voice addresses you as she enters the gates with the last of the cultists.

Uh-oh. (Cont)

Play it cool, you remind yourself. You'd probably know if she or any of her minions recognised you. And she can't read your thoughts. You think.

Yeah, no definitely not. Otherwise Corporal Hadrien would have been flayed the first time he was in proximity to her. Still, you decide to act natural.

"Madame Superior." You put on what you hope is a suitably awed tone "It is our honour, anything in the service of Our Lord."

"Indeed!" Syka giggles immaturely "My brother is so lucky to have faithful servants like you. It's a shame not all your fellows share you devoition."

That last sentence is said with an unexpected vehemence. Yeah, definitely picking up the crazy-vibes. Dark-Father, Hadrien thinks this is -hot-? Then again, they probably deserve each other.

You're, thankfully, distracted from such thoughts with the scrabbling of chalk against stone. Some of the diagrams are starting to glow ever so slightly. You don't mind the blue ones, they look harmless enough. But there's a -lot- more red symbols than there are blue around.

"So, my lady, what are your men doing here?" You question humbly, with the utmost respect for a sorcerer of her station. Come to think of it, you have no idea how powerful she is.

"Oh, nothing much." Syka shrugs "Just a summoning that will plunge this unbelieving city into a hell on Earth."

"...excuse me?" You try to curb the growing sense of dread.

"The summoning silly. The whole assault to the North was just a distraction, Brother wants an example made. So we're opening a Hell-Gate. It should probably be open for...I'd say until dawn. Those are the Red Symbols."

We can't just leave. The annalist will be pissed if we don't bring back a story of the demon portal! I imagine the cultists have some sort of protection against the demons. Like a charm or amulet or something, we should see if we can't get hooked up.

"Heehee. Those are containment markings. I'm not going to explain the details to a foolish little flesshie like you, but basically hmmm..."

Superior Syka clicks her fingers. "It's like a game! These runes indicate the boundaries, who can kill who, and even referees! For example, these ones..."

She indicates to the runes with a slight green tinge "These ones grant protection to us from the daemons. The -real- blues ones, I like those, they mark a boundary around the whole city! No one can get in or out. Cool, isn't it?"

Superior Syka grins madly at you.

The red circles-thingies (you're no mage) are starting glow. You can safely say that your state of mental worry is marginally above 'Slightly Concerned'.

"We're leaving before this happens...right?"

"Don't be silly." Syka giggles. "The Containment Field already up."

With a sinking feeling you look up. Yeah, there's a slight shimmer in the sky that's definitely unnatural. You don't doubt that there's really no way through it, though there might be a tunnel somewhere surely...

Oh, I wonder if anyone got cut in half in the northern assault when it went off? That'd be wicked, huh?"

Figures, even with the protection offered from whatever magic they're pulling it would still take a Syka kind of crazy to willingly lock yourself in with an imminent daemon horde. At least you're protected too.

"Um...this is all amazing, Superior. Really. The blue runes, you mention they protect 'us'. And 'us' is?" You mention casually, it's just a really minor detail after all.

"Why, anyone who was part of the blood-ritual we held a few days ago of course." Superior Syka smiles manically. "Of course, the ritual had some unfortunate side-effects. We had to lock Apostle Jeris in the Quartermaster's tent after that."

Well that's upsetting. On the plus side you finally know what the hell that thing was from yesterday.

"What do I have to do to get protection for my men and I?" You ask, gritting your teeth.

"Do?" She seems breifly puzzled. "Oh don't worry about it! It's easy-peesy."

Oh well that's a rel-

"Heh, I'll just bring raise you back up once this whole thing is over. And if there's not enough left to raise, I'll just enscorcell you as revenants! Wouldn't that be neat?"

This is less than helpful. You briefly consider promising her to bring her Corporal Aeron, but she can probably just interrogate you as a revenant then. Hell, she's offering to kill you quickly right now to make it quick. And besides, 30 silver? Please.

Trying to reason with the crazy chick has so far failed. Go figure. Meanwhile... those red runes are growing brighter.

"Most Dark Lady, we are almost ready." One of the cultists bows deeply, their scribbling finally over.

"Excellent!" Superior Syka claps gleefully

Your head hurts.

Try to convince Syka not to let a horde of daemons eat you alive in front of her. You're assuming she actually can do anything about it though.

Grab the Cultists and try to go for living shield against the daemons. You're unsure whether the daemons will be repelled by the cultists, or if they'll only be unable to see them or something. You also don't know whether Syka will be outraged or amused.

>Operation Leg It
Put as much distance between you and those glowing red things as possible. There's a whole city full of people, some of them even Holy People and Soldiers and all that stuff. It should slow them down at least.

Assign a number to each option, only accept votes in the form of the corresponding number so the built in 4chan spam filter only allows one vote per IP per 5 minutes or however long it is.

Vote 1 for option A vote 2 for option B

Then the only votes counted are votes with the link and the number.

You can also do it with longer streams of characters but it's easier to replace a comma with a period or i with l or some shit.
>>
Wait wait wait, there is a BLACK fucking COMPANY quest running since when? Why was I not informed?
>>
>>41473975
You really are one dumb guy. Again, what are you even arguing for? Are you arguing to have us mess with runes? If so, say so. If not, there is nothing to argue. You have been talking about unrelated shit this whole time.
>>
>>41473991
Actually yeah, as a QM that's something he should know. Now he does.
>>
Maybe I'm a trusting, naive nitwit but I don't think samefagging is really present much in this thread.

>Operation Human Basement Shield is a go!

How many cultists are you going to try and nab? There's about a dozen of them around doing... cult stuff. And there are 8 of you.
>>
>>41473985
>>41473984
yup in large quest you can obviously tell FD votes doesn't really work and you can even have people brag about bypassing it.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You're funny. Look at the difference in number of votes for the diffrent voting blocks. 20+ for the first 2. 11 for the quick one
>>
>>41474014
However many we can round up on our way to a defensable basement. I dont want to idle around trying to catch more of them.
>>
>>41474016
That's just false. The most you can do is vote twice. Once with regular internet once with phone.
>>
>>41474014
>>41474024
>>41474026
4 is more than enough to block a door right?

besides it rhymes

so have you, your only reason for not wanting to fuck with the runes is because you are afraid of retaliation, something you have said.

Anyone who brags about that is lying, trying to convince the QM to drop FD altogether so they can spam samefagg.
>>
>>41474054
2 in front, 1 behind and the last one is for interrogation.
>>
>>41474039
Thats normal. Not everyone stands around waiting to vote in that few minute window.

The fact that you think a short voting period would stop samefagging is proof that you have no idea what you are talking about. Only thing it does is prevent people who were not present in that short time from voting.
>>
>>41474062
Yes. I am afraid of retaliation. Again. If we attack the runes, Syka wil attack us. It is really simple really.

Some of that is not me but that is not relevant really.
>>
>>41474081
It's standard practice in quests. Tried and true in every major quest in the past 5 years. Please educate yourself before speaking.
>>
>>41474108
>5 years
Man you are straight talking out of your ass now.

What the qm just did wasnt even fd. There was absolutely no protection against samefagging there. Only reason we got less votes were because people miss the vote.
>>
Large quests that have had samefagging problems generally do this

>Post with voting options
>10-15 minutes of discussion and voting
>If there is clear consensus then just proceed with writing
>If any sort of real debate is present QM narrows down 2-3 major options and FD for a quick 5 minutes vote
>>
>>41474108
Just letting you know you're sounding really full of yourself. Take it down a notch, relax. we're all here to have fun.
>>
>>41474120
No shit.

But FD is standard practice in large quests on /tg/, has been since they first appeared here.
>>
>>41474102
"Oh no, crazy bitch sorcerer is making a gate to hell. Better run away and barricade ourselves in the nearest basement. What, destroy the green runes? But that will make her hate us and she will use her magic to kill us. She's so scary, definitely more scary that those 6 armed, snake headed demons riding chariots of tar and bones while spraying pus everywhere that will make us grow tumors the second it touches our skin, turning us into nothing more that a sack of flesh and rot."

Bet you cant even tell me when and in what quest it got popular. Lurk moar. Take your own advice.
>>
>>41474141
it has been easily broken by anyone with multiple devices.
Hell i have a laptop and an a Ipad, on top of my phone.
Hell i can just use my t-o-r browser and get around FD all together(admittedly i have to find a node that isn't banned first).
>>
>>41474183
It limits votes. and you wont find a not banned tor node.

>>41474180
No cause I got here like 3 years ago. First quest i saw it in was LDQ.
>>
>>41474172
Well since we don't have a concrete idea of how powerful either the demons or Syka are, this whole thing is a bit moot.
>>
>>41474217
We know Syka can kill us easily. So going against her is not an option. End of story.
>>
>>41474217
well yes we don't know what spells syka has but we've already meet demons, look at the previous threads.

Like i said a lot of nodes aren't banned, but finding them is hard.
>>
>>41474217
The demons will be 100% hostile to us.

Syka might find our antics amusing or simply not give a shit.

Even if there is only a 1% chance of that happening, it still better odds than facing demons who will wipe out a city.

"Lance-Corporal Marcus!" The need for subtlety goes to the back of your mind as you shout of for your 2IC.

"Corporal!" Marcus runs over to you.

"We have... a situation."

"A situation?" Marcus glances over your shoulder at the frightenly-bright runes. "That situation?"

"Mhmm. We need to... enact Operation Human Basement... Shield." Yeah, that works.

"...Corporal?" Lancer Marcus gives you a look. You recognise that look, you've given it to your fair share of superiors in your own time.

"Look, things are about to get dangerous here. We need to grab some of these cultists, 4 should do it, take them with us, and barricade ourselves in a basement."

"But..." Lance Jack still has that look. "Why do we need the cultists?"

"To act as a shield against the daemons, Lancer. Keep up."

"Daemons?!" Well that gets the rest of the squads attention sure enough. You look a right bunch, hissing at each other in hushed tones so the cultists, and half of Salsburg, doesn't hear you.

"What the fekking FEK, boss?" Trooper Schuster eyes are throwing daggers at you "You never said nothing about no daemons!"

"Just-Corporal?" Trooper Belhamun says.

"Look I know, the whole thing is fekked. But all we have to do is nab a few cultists, enough to block the entrances somewhere, and wait this out." It's a solid plan, it can work. Provided Syka doesn't go ape on you.

"Um... cap'n?" Trooper Durvano mutters.

"Just a minute, Durvano. We're just working out the details. And I'm not a Captain." You continue brainstorming with the others over who grabs who, where you run off to.

"Just-Corporal, please be to regard this thing." Trooper Belhamun says a little louder this time.

"Um... matey? Matey." Was there a strain on Durvano's voice there? Well, now is not the time to panic.

Dark Father, what is up with those two?

"This bad, Just-Corporal." He gestures towards the WOAH.

The runes are all floating, and spinning faster and faster... this is less than ideal.

Also, your nose is bleeding.

"No fekking shit we've got incoming, Vendis." Trooper Schuster sneers, her scar crinkling unflatteringly "That's why we're - oh."

Great. Just. Fekking. Great. As you spot the Neumunster formation surging towards you from each pathway running along the walls, you find yourself asking some very thought-provoking questions.

Namely 'Why?' or 'What did I do to deserve this?' and 'Why this is happening to me?'.

I'm going to stop it here. I'm exhausted, need a smoke, and my brain is bleeding. Been a damn good run, fellas!

Glad you enjoyed it, mate! I won't be able to run it until the start of next month, unfortunately. It'll be a good one though, that's a certainty.

>>41474857
From the Skill Tree? It should say, but I think they are all either passive abilities or something you can use as much as you like.
