>You are one of two young Tuffle twins, thrown at Earth starting in early Dragon Ball by your "father"

>"Canon" has already taken a sharp turn from the "norm," as you'll readily see, and can take even sharper turns depending on the thread's action/dialogue choices and ideas

>Stats and dice mechanics will be used, and explained when needed as the quest progresses

>Let's all try to have some fun, ok?

Previously on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest: in your attempt to become students of Master Roshi alongside Goku, Krillin, and Chi-chi, you fought a bunch of demons who were trying some moronic plan of using a giant diamond called the "Sleeping Princess" to power a doomsday laser in an attempt to blow up the sun.

After introducing Roshi to Launch, who is more than happy to see you've brought a "beautiful princess" to him, Roshi declares the five of you all to be his new students. And even better, you're finally able to get some well-deserved sleep. Roshi sets you, Chi-chi, and Launch upstairs while the boys sleep down below. Thinking about all the crazy stuff that's happened in just one day on this planet, you'd almost forgotten about how ghost dad abandoned you here to fight some crazy space monkey.

Now you're not only making friends with the people of the planet, you're learning from one of the wise, ancient masters of martial arts. Fuck you, ghost dad. This planet is all right, if a bit... awkward.

Waking a little early, with the sun still rising, you notice Launch no longer in her bed while Chi-chi is still sound asleep. You stretch and look around, still somewhat drowsy, and consider getting some more rest in, only to hear shouting and gunfire downstairs.

With a yawn, you try to wake up Chi-chi. The girl tries to not notice, only to jump awake upon finally hearing the gunfire and shouting downstairs. You tell the other girl that you're going to try and see what all the commotion is about, quickly walking out of the room with her following close behind.

"TRY AND PULL ANOTHER STUNT LIKE THAT AND I'LL SHOOT YOUR BALLS OFF!" a woman's voice shouts. Upon finally getting to the bottom of the stairs, you see Launch, now blonde again, firing at Master Roshi while Krillin and Acer hide behind a couch, Goku still somehow fast asleep.

"I-it was an honest mistake!" the old man tries to declare. You... somehow doubt that.

"I'LL SHOW YOU A MISTA-" Launch finally hears you and Chi-chi step off the stairs, quickly turning around and pointing the gun at you both. "DON'T MOVE, BRATS!"

"Miss Launch, can you keep it down? We were trying to sleep." you ask her with a loud yawn. Chi-chi looks at you like you're crazy and isn't quite sure if she wants to hide behind you or run back upstairs.

"Y-you... what?" Launch isn't quite sure how to take that response. She decides on violence. "YOU GOT A DEATH WISH, KID?!" she exclaims as she opens fire on you. You catch all the bullets out of the air, making sure none accidentally hit Chi-chi. Launch stares in bewilderment. Apparently that usually works for her.

Your brother glances at you, somewhat embarrassed that he didn't think to do that first. Krillin looks at you with a mixture of awe and terror, wondering how you did that. Roshi tries to slowly move out of Launch's line of sight.

With a groan, you tell the blonde woman "You just lost your gun privileges, missy." You dash over and snatch the weapon our of her hands, the woman slightly surprised, and then ask your brother, "Come on brobro, you couldn't even disarm her yourself? And why are you cowering behind the couch there?"

"I tried that once already!" he exclaims, pointing to two guns on the other side of the room. "Then she pulls another one out of nowhere! And shoots at me!"

As if on cue, you hear a BAMF and Launch has yet another weapon pointed at you, the woman looking even angrier. You grab that out of her hands as well. She tries that again, with it clear that she's storing them in those capsule things you saw Bulma with yesterday. You grab THAT one out of her hands as well. She then tries the same trick, now with a Rocket Launcher pointed at you. This continues for a good ten minutes until the woman finally seems to run out of firearms and other weapons, most of them now at your feat or tossed in the corner with the first two.

"Stop that!" she growls at you.

"What did Master Roshi do to make you so upset in the first place?" you ask groggily, rubbing your eyes. You have an idea already, but best to confirm it

"The old perv tried to grab my chest, right as I found myself awake in the bathroom there!" she declares, trying and failing to grab the final gun you took from her.

You glare at the old perv, who is currently trying to sneak away. Taking careful aim, you throw the gun at the back of his head, the man falling over in pain. Then, as the gun bounces upwards, it falls back down and hits him in the crotch with the grip, Roshi grabbing his crotch in pain. As Krillin and Acer peek their heads out from behind the couch to see what just happened, Launch lets out a laugh.

"Well, nice aim, kid." she tells you before a bit of her hair tickles her nose, a sneeze changing her back from her angry blonde self to her calmer, dark-blue hair-having side that she was when you brought her to Kame House. Things settle down a bit, Goku finally waking up and barely even noticing the pile of guns that weren't there before. Launch apologizes for her other side's behavior and helps put all the weapons back into their capsule forms.

Once that is all set, Roshi tells you that it's time to move the house, taking you all outside and somehow changing the whole house into a capsule. Gonna have to read up on those things some time. He then tells you all that you're going to be moving to a larger island to start your training, telling you and your brother to help Chi-chi and Krillin fly there while Goku and Launch go together, the old man himself going by...

A flying turtle? With jets coming out of its limbs. Well, he is the Turtle Hermit, you figure. Upon arriving on the island, Roshi instructs Chi-chi to change into the same white shirt and blue pants you, Acer, and Goku are wearing, and says that the training begins now, with a 4 AM jog. The six of you arrive at a house that says "MILK" on the side, with a vehicle nearby. Roshi talks with a goat person and a bull person, and then turns to your group.

"First, kids, you'll be delivering milk to the entire island."

"Master, can Acer and I fly to deliver it?"

"No." He bonks you on the head with his staff, not enough to really hurt but enough to tell you that was a dumb question. "Would that be fair to the other three?"

"Guess not." your brother tells him, picking up one of the packages.

"Why are we delivering milk in the first place?" you ask, picking up another package as Goku, Krillin, and Chi-chi all do the same.

"Several reasons. One of which is discipline. Furthermore..." Roshi pulls out one of the capsules and tosses it, a box containing a number of large, pink turtle shells appearing in the puff of smoke. "Acer, Maple, Goku, you three will start off with these 50 kilo turtle shells on your backs."

"F-fifty kilos?!" Krillin exclaims as the three of you do so. They're quite heavy, and certainly will slow you down a bit, though Goku seems just fine with the added weight. "Why do they have to do that?"

"The second reason is cooperation. All five of you must learn to keep pace with each other, and since the three of you have a bit of a head start compared to Krillin and Chi-chi, this will help balance things out." Roshi says, stroking his beard. "All of you must complete this task before breakfast."

"Don't worry you two, we'll get this done together!" you tell Krillin and Chi-chi, reassuring them a bit. As the five of you follow Roshi, Goku at the front, Krillin and Chi-chi behind them, and you and your brother at the back, you make a number of long treks across the island, going from stop to stop, crossing steep mountains, roaring waterfalls, perilous bridges, and reptile-infested jungles. Goku has no trouble keeping up with Master Roshi, and while Krillin and Chi-chi tire easier, you and your brother encourage them to keep going.

As you travel, Roshi explains the purpose of each trial, instilling balance, coordination, endurance, and patience. In less than half an hour, all of you have successfully completed the milk delivery. Roshi is more than impressed, telling Goku and Chi-chi that they completed their first run even faster than Gohan or the Ox King did, and with less complaining to boot, their faces absolutely beaming with the revelation.

"Next is agriculture." Roshi explains as he brings you to a field with a man tilling the soil.

"Agri-what?" Goku asks, his head tilted.

"It means working the land and planting things, gardening, basically." you tell the monkey-tailed boy.

"You five will help make this suitable farm land." the old man explains, then grins. "Bare-handed."

"Bare-handed?!" Krillin and Chi-chi exclaim simultaneously.

"If we all work together, we should have it done in no time!" you exclaim to the two human kids. That brightens their spirits a little. Turning to Master Roshi, you ask if it's a lesson in dexterity or something.

"That, teamwork, and some community work. Helping others is one of the best ways to train yourself." he tells you. "It'll probably earn you some extra money on the side, too."

"Sounds reasonable, then." your brother says, shrugging.

Turning to the farmer, you explain that you know of some ways to help increase the yield and health of the crops. At first he seems dubious that some kids know that much about farming, seeming like he's going to bonk you on the heads with the flat of his hoe, but as you and your brother start explaining what you mean, using your stored memories implanted by ghost dad on what there is to know about ancient Tuffle agriculture and preservation of soil nutrients, he comes around. He says that when you're all done, he'll double what he was going to originally pay you all, but wonders where you learned such things.

"...books." you and your brother say shiftily, and get to work before he can ask any further questions. Within about 20 minutes, all of you have worked to make the place suitable farmland. Roshi is extremely impressed, Goku having thoroughly enjoyed what to him was playing in the dirt while even Chi-chi and Krillin seem a bit happy with what they've accomplished. The farmer gives you all 1000 "Zenni" each as a reward.

As the six of you head back to Kame House, Launch has prepared breakfast, and Roshi again starts talking about the purposes behind his training. "It is not to impress people, or to pick fights, but to improve yourselves. The Turtle Style is focused on helping you become better people."

You speak up, asking Master Roshi if you and your brother can tell the others about your first teacher, Izumi. He seems... hesitant, for a moment, and stays quiet. You guess he's reading your minds again. With a gulp, he says that it's fine, and grumbles something about being glad he's never met a woman so scary. First, you and your brother tell the other three about her training philosophy of self-defense and self-control, and being aware of one's limits and working to understand them before even attempting to move beyond them.

Krillin seems somewhat ashamed as you explain your story, but listens intently. Goku meanwhile is all ears, his tail wagging in the air. You then get to how... harsh, her training methods could be, and just how tough she was, while at the same time being one of the few actually compassionate people you and your brother have known before meeting them all. Goku asks if he could meet her some day, obviously intent on sparring, but you and your brother nonchalantly explain that such a thing would be quite difficult due to her being a ghost. Now, you add quickly.

"I'm sorry to hear that..." Chi-chi tells you, but you and your brother shrug and just say you've accepted it. You also inform them all about the nature of Ki that she taught you, Roshi nodding and mentioning the Kamehameha wave both he and Goku can perform uses it, turning one's inward energy into an outward blast of power. Your brother chuckles to himself, remembering your failure at attempting the technique. Finally, you tell them about how it's used for your flying abilities. All three of them exclaim that they want to learn how to do that, but Roshi bonks them all on the heads with his staff, telling them they need the basics first before they can truly appreciate such techniques.

Your brother nods in agreement, but mentions that he'd be willing to teach them a little, elbowing you to get to agree with him.

You look to Master Roshi. "What do you say? Are you sure this is okay with you?"

The man smiles. "When they're ready. Actually, it would be best if you all can also turn this into a mutual learning experience."

"Trade teaching them for something they know or have, huh?" you say, scratching your chin. "Heh, sure, sounds good. Let's call it 'equivalent exchange.' Each one of you allows us to learn something new, and in exchange we teach you about what we know. That'll help all of us improve."

Goku, Krillin, and Chi-chi all look to each other and nod, determination on their faces.

"I can show you the Jan Ken!" the monkey boy exclaims.

"There is a technique I learned from my own previous martial arts school, the Orin Combo." Krillin states, his arms crossed.

"Um..." Chi-chi looks around, then notices the armor she inherited from her mother. "Would you two be interested in learning about my helmet's weapons?"

You and your brother are grinning wide. Roshi seems very pleased himself and your offer. He then clears his throat. "In addition to this, I'll mention that there is a World Martial Arts Tournament about eight months from now. If you all would like to enter, I'd be more than happy to take you there. BUT!" He stands tall and points at each one of his students. "If you agree to it, know that you're going to be using it as a chance to improve yourselves. Do not go in thinking you'll win the thing in the first go, that would be arrogant. Self-improvement is the key here."

You jump up and pump your fist into the air. "HELL YEAH! Who's with me?!"

Your brother and Goku simultaneously copy you and shout "I am!"

Krillin gulps, but steels himself, doing the same. "Count me in!"

Finally, Chi-chi hesitates, but looking at all four of you standing, she smiles with determination and finally jumps up with the rest of Roshi's students. "I'll join too!"

The old man sits back down, pride on his face. "Then it's settled. I hope all of you excel." The five of you finish breakfast, and Roshi takes you outside again, now with a chalkboard and some books, a couple of which being the ones you took from Lucifer's castle, all waiting for you on a log. "Now, a strong body needs a strong mind in control of it. You need brain power in order to utilize yourselves to your fullest."

"Aww, I'm not so good at that..." Goku states, sinking in his seat.

"Well well, wonder-boy has his weaknesses after all." Krillin says with a smirk, causing Chi-chi to giggle.

"Goku, turn to page 12 in the book in front of you and read from the top line." Roshi instructs the monkey boy as he picks up a book labeled "Bob and Margaret."

"'Bi-... Bill, don't tickle me there, wha- what if someone sees us?' Suzie gi- giggled." Goku attempts in monotone. Krillin's face turns red and Chi-chi seems confused. You and your brother glare at the old man, now aware of what the monkey boy was reading.

"What classy literature you have, Master." Acer grumbles sarcastically, Roshi only giving a laugh. Roshi then asks you to do some math problems from another book, pulling up his sunglasses and winking, seemingly hoping for you to explain it for the others.

You grin. It's tempting to try and go a bit... overboard... with what you can teach them all, but you decide on helping them understand first. Starting with the easy problems, you explain the math to the others, starting with the basics and slowly working your way up to more challenging things, stopping to explain every step of the way and even some tricks to help things be easier to remember. Krillin and Chi-chi catch on quicker, but after some effort, even Goku is starting to understand what you're explaining.

"OH!" the monkey boy exclaims. "So... I'm actually twelve years old!"

...the boy thought fourteen came after twelve. Guess an upbringing with Grandpa Gohan wasn't the most... scholarly. Still, Roshi is very pleased with your work, and then asks your brother to do some writing exercises for everyone. At first it's somewhat confusing due to the number of writing systems the planet uses, but after a while all three of the other kids have gotten the basics down. This continues until lunch time, with Launch preparing the meals again. Afterwards, Roshi tells you all that now would be a good chance to relax and rest, setting up some hammocks for you all.

You take a few of the books you gathered from Lucifer's castle and get to work with learning. Just because your body's resting doesn't mean your mind has to do the same, after all. You start with a book on the science and technology of the world first and foremost. Compared to what you know of Planet Plant, it clearly isn't as advanced, with limited spaceflight only reaching the orbiting moon. On that same note, you learn about the moon's phases, then glance at Goku for a moment. Sound asleep with a smile on his face and his tail swaying back and forth, you again hope that the boy really is a native, and not another visitor like you and Acer.

Where the planet does have the Tuffle race beat, however, is with the invention of the storage Capsule, a miraculous device that allows the storage of anything from magazines to entire buildings and vehicles in the palm of one's hand. Looking more into it, you notice a picture of Bulma, somewhat younger than when you met her, with her family, the "Briefs." You make a mental note to meet with her some time, perhaps after the Tournament. While the book doesn't tell you everything about it, it gives you enough information to be more than impressed by the device.

You then look over some of the planet's history, government, geography, other things you'd probably need to know eventually. The leader and King of the Earth, King Furry, and the system of governance involved in it, with lesser dukes, kings, and even elected officials around the planet. Reminds you a bit of what you know about the Tuffle Constitutional Monarchy that existed until its untimely demise.

(cont.)
>>
>>40160766
Finally, you take a glance at the book of magic. To say it's complex would be an understatement, the arcane and archaic language is a puzzle even to you. You do make a mental note to start attempting one supposed spell, the "clothes beam," some time in the future.

With everyone rested up, Roshi takes your group to a construction site, and says that you all will be working with the men there as part of your training, to build muscle strength.

"So what are you folks building, anyway?" you ask the surprised manager, a wolf person, as you haul a wheelbarrow of dirt away and come back faster than any of his regular workers.

"Ah... a new hospital, at least that's what this is supposed to be, eventually." he tells you, looking to Roshi and then back at your group as the five of you continue to clear away dirt as you're directed. "Apparently it's going to be some sort of modular design, where new parts of the building can be replaced or improved through usage of Capsules. What we're really working on is the foundation, clearing the way for electricity, plumbing, those sorts of things."

"That's actually pretty clever." Acer tells the man. "Are there many buildings like that?"

"Ahaha, only in the big cities, kiddo. And even there, it's fairly rare. Capsule Corp only recently got the go-ahead for a project like this." he tells your brother, who is almost racing you and Goku with another wheelbarrow of dirt, Krillin and Chi-chi not far behind. Eventually you finish the amount of work you five were assigned, and the man pays you another 1000 Zenni each. "It's good to have folks help out like this, thanks for this, Master Roshi."

Surveying the area, you talk with the manager about the floor planning of the building. He explains a bit more about the end layout of the hospital, how it is supposed to have only three floors and three basement levels, carefully avoiding a superstition about the number four being associated with death. You give him some tips on organizing the layout economically, claiming you learned it from your readings, and he tosses you an extra 50 Zenni coin for your trouble.

Finally, Roshi takes you all to a lake and explains that the next bout of training would be ten laps in the area. As the five of you jump in, he tells you to watch out for the big fish in the lake. As if on cue, a large fin appears pursuing your group, and a giant shark closes in on you and Acer.

The shark thinks that you are its dinner.

It is about to learn that the opposite is true.

"MAPLE SMASH OVERGROWN FISH!" you shout as you punch it in the face. Your strike hits it so hard that instead of just stopping, it goes flying out of the water and lands on a very surprised Roshi.

"Wow, that was a nice one, Maple!" Goku tells you, swimming to the other side first. Krillin and Chi-chi stop for a moment and look at what you did, then decide to just roll with it and finish their laps. A large reptile, which you recall is called a dinosaur, standing at the other side of the lake looks at your group as you each reach the other side, and then decides to run away, roaring in terror. After all five of you are finished with your laps, Roshi walks forward and clears his throat, nervously congratulating you on catching dinner for everyone.

All six of you help carry the beast, which seems to be almost 12 meters in length, back to Kame House, with Launch, still in her calm personality, saying she'll have it ready in an hour. Roshi strokes his beard, and then takes you all to the front of the house. "All right kids, time for your first bit of, ehem, training. Maple, Goku, please face each other and bow."

The two of you do so, and then you almost instinctively take a fighting stance. You both simultaneously ask Roshi "Are we gonna spar?"

Roshi shakes his head. "You are going to teach each other. First, Goku. I want you to use one of your moves against Maple, but it will be her choice. Maple, you must successfully defend against Goku's attack. The rest of you, please take care to learn how they move, how they act and react. Is that clear?"

"Yes sir!" the monkey boy shouts.

"You have any other techniques, Goku?" you ask the boy.

He shakes his head no. "Just the ones with the Power Pole. And that... well, Grandpa taught me how to defend myself with it, but no special techniques."

"Fair enough." you tell him, still in your fighting stance. You for a moment consider asking him to try the Kamehameha, but at the same time, you want to actually have a chance at defending yourself. "Goku, use the Jan Ken."

"Got it!" he shouts excitedly, then takes something resembling a fighting stance. "Jan! Ken!" he lunges at you. In spite of the difference in strength, you notice he really isn't the most refined fighter. "Rock!" He attempts to throw a punch at your face, which you dodge, and push away from your body. "Scissors!" Goku then tries to poke you in the eyes, you blocking the attack with the edge of your hand. "Paper!" he finally shouts, going for a palm strike. You smirk and grab the boy by the wrist, then throw him over you, backing up as he lands on his face. The other students are stunned, even Acer seems to have not expected you to do that well.

"Hehahaha!" Roshi laughs. "And that, kids, is why you need the basics. While Maple may be the second strongest of you all, Goku is almost twice as strong as her, correct? And yet she was able to avoid his attack carefully."

"Woah..." Goku groans as he slowly gets up. The smile on his face doesn't fade, and in fact, it seems to grow even wider. "That was great, Maple!"

"Now, are you ready to try out Goku's technique, Maple?" Roshi inquires.

Suggest incorporating energy attacks when using the jan ken to circumvent potential defenses. Beams from the fingertips for scissor, and using your free hand to deliver an unexpected blast to the body when utilizing paper and rock. A good improvement to he technique.

You take a stance like Goku just did and shout "Jan! Ken!" Moving in, you strategically strike with a punch, Goku blocking it with his arm but being pushed back as you shout "Rock!" Next, you try for the eye-poke, Goku blocking it clearly this time as you shout "Scissors!" Finally, while the boy is still blocking, you move for a palm strike with your other hand, making a successful blow to his gut with a shout of "Paper!" Goku stumbles and falls on his back, but quickly jumps up again.

"You did it, Maple!" he exclaims, the other students all cheering for you. Roshi stands up and pats both you and Goku on the heads, smiling.

"Congratulations, kiddo. Now, if you'd be so kind as to teach Goku something in return..." he explains.

You think for a moment, first on the technique you just learned. You perform it one more time, this time bolstering the move with some added ki. Not putting too much into it yet, you make the three strikes, small shockwaves coming from your hand. Oooooh this has potential. You then finally turn to Goku. "Well, monkey boy, how would you like to learn how to fly?"

"I would I would!" he says, bouncing up and down with an eager smile. You tell him to settle down, and then start teaching him. You explain the idea of gathering and focusing ki, readily within earshot of the two other Earthlings. Goku makes the connection to it and the Kamehameha, and then attempts it. At first he struggles, not quite keeping calm and focused enough to do it, but soon launches into the air. He struggles to keep steady, but starts to understand how to properly "push" himself in the direction he wants to go.

You smile with pride.

You did it.

Goku is flying.

He finally comes back down to the ground, eyes wide and smile even wider. Krillin and Chi-chi both seem to have gotten some of how it works, but neither attempts it just yet. Roshi finally calls all of you back to him, and the six of you return to Kame House for dinner. Your first day of training with Master Roshi is complete. You have a clear goal ahead of you, and you're becoming fast friends with the others. On the way back, Krillin and Chi-chi decide to make small talk with you and Acer.

"So, you're twins, right?" the boy asks. You both nod yes.

"When's your birthday, then?" Chi-chi inquires.

Huh. Good question. Well, complex question, since you sort of have more than one...

You and your brother look at each other, and think. You technically have two birthdays, after all, but neither really matches up with the planet's calendar sensibly. Actually... picturing a calendar in your head, you decide upon the perfect date for it.

"October 31st."

"H-halloween?" Krillin asks, you nodding to make it "official." "Spooky..." he mumbles.

As you, Acer, and Goku remove your 50 kilo turtle shells, and all have dinner, Launch serving the shark you caught earlier. It's been a good day.

Thanks for playing, everyone! I'll be around to answer any questions, including any you might have for characters themselves. Did ya'll have fun today?

>>40165387
Thanks for playing! Early Dragon Ball has a lot of stuff to go through, so it's been fun running this.

Honestly, it's also been a fun little excuse to go through early DB again too. My wife's certainly been enjoying it.

Finally, would ya'll like to roll for gains now, or wait until all your training's done for MAX GAINS for everyone?
>>
>>40165575
if we will still get the same amount of gains total, I would like to roll now.
>>
>>40165617
Potential gains now will be smaller, but larger than the previous thread's. Chi-chi and Krillin's will also be quite a bit larger. d30s for you and Brobro, at the very least.

Gains at the end of training will be in the d100s or more +100.
>>
I'll vote for holding of till the end then
>>
>>40165841
alright I will wait
>>
>>40165841
I vote to do it now.

3d30 can be higher than d100, and is easier to score higher on since its always best of three.

Right?
>>
>>40165975
Potentially, though note that at minimum it'll be d100 +100 at the end. Krillin and Chi-chi actually may improve the most due to their lower PLs, and may have a chance of catching up to you and Acer.

Goku... well, there's a Roshi might send him off to travel the world a bit if he gets a bit TOO strong. You'll have to worry about that next thread, though.
>>
>>40165975

It's... a possibility. Not gonna lie, it will be hard, because Goku is still Goku. You are also sort of still eight years old, almost nine, so best to hold off on that for a while. Goku does consider you and Acer to be really good friends of his, at the very least. You're about as close with him as you are with Chi-chi.

>>40167698
CLOTHES BEAM has many uses. Imagine fighting someone and then suddenly you use CLOTHES BEAM and now their face is covered in underwear!

FASHIONABLE underwear!

This will be extremely effective on some opponents! Maybe! Zarbon will be unable to stop you!

They may be swayed to the side of good by even more fashionable uniforms. Or perhaps you will never meet them. Who knows!

Also, in case anyone was wondering, you do have 2050 Zenni (buying power of about 20 USD) to yourself and 10,050 Zenni to your party as a whole. And you're sure to get more money as your training goes on. Next thread may feature some optional shopping, if ya'll are so inclined.
