You are Suì Fēng, Commander of the Onmitsukidō's Reserve Unit, and you are NOT Kusajishi Riku. And there are still days where that frustrates you a little.

You've been in the Onmitsukidō practically since your birth. The members of the Fēng family have lived and died for the Shihōin family since long before that. And yet this stranger, this orphan off the streets, can come in and take your rightful place at Lady Yoruichi's side? How absurd. The very notion is absurd.

Everything about her is an irritation to you. The way she's wormed her way into your Mistress' heart, the way she constantly upstages you without even trying, the way she smiles during meetings, the way she sits, the way she brushes her hair in the mornings, the way she... everything!

“Buzz buzz buzz,” a voice interrupts your thoughts as Lady Yoruichi leans across the arm of her low seat to watch you. “You've got that look on your face again, Little Bee. Whatcha thinking about?”

You swallow nervously. “Apologies, Lady Yoruichi. It seems I've been distracted lately.”

“It happens,” your Mistress replies thoughtfully, reaching over to gently ruffle your hair. She's always so understanding, isn't she? So generous? That's why she made a lowly unit member like you her personal guard back then, right?

“You know what?” she continues, her lovely voice filling you with warmth, “my head's in the wrong place today, too. Let's both take a break.”

A break? Really? But you're sure that if she left you to it, you could...

“And no secretly finishing my paperwork for me again,” she reprimands you. “I mean it.”

Well, that undercut your immediate plans. But still, it could actually be nice to just have a day off to tag along with Lady Yoruichi... especially since that woman won't be around. Or, you could use your newfound time to deal with “personal” matters...

>Lady Yoruichi will be attending the Shinigami Women's Association meeting today. She will need an escort.

So I guess this was a while ago, given the "last week" context for Gin and Rangiku. Still, I'd like to get a look at what the ladies of Soul Society are up to, if only because we've not actually had much time with anyone outside of Riku's weird little circle.

"Well then," you declare. "I will take a moment to compose myself and freshen up." It only makes sense, seeing how you will be seen at Lady Yoruichi's side in public. So much as a misplaced fold in your hakama would reflect poorly on your Mistress.

Unfortunately Lady Yoruichi seems to have missed your intentions entirely, as when you return to her office she's already left for her meeting. And she didn't even tell you where it was meant to be held!

This is bad, this is definitely bad! Right now Lady Yoruichi is off on her own, without an escort. You dash out into the midmorning sun in search of your Captain. Though, since your tracking skills are still not quite as honed as they could be, you're really just guessing...

After a few moments you stumble onto someone who looks like he could help: the Captain of Fifth Division. Captains have really good senses, right? And he seems to have some free time... he's just standing on a roof.

A little to the left, Lieutenant Aizen,” the long-haired Captain calls out lazily.

“Um... excuse me, sir?”

Captain Hirako doesn't even bother turning, instead focusing his gaze on one of the gardens around his Division HQ, which you seem to have wandered into. “What do you think... should that fir tree go where Aizen's standing, or more to the right?”

“I am unsure,” you admit. “All I can tell is that the Lieutenant's not enjoying himself too much.”

“That so? More to the right it is, then,” he replies, motioning his Lieutenant back the way he came. “You had a question?”

“Yeah, could you point me towards La... Captain Shihōin?”

For the first time, the tall, blonde captain turns to look at you. “Hm. Interestin' uniform you got there. Can you really not sense where your Captain's at?”

You shake your head, feeling somewhat inadequate.

You try your hardest to find the source of spiritual pressure Captain Hirako is talking about. The one that feels like it's setting your hair on fire has to be the Head Captain, that's easy enough. You nearly gag as you locate Captain Unohana next... you don't know what a sword in the throat feels like, but if you had to guess that'd be pretty close. Finally, after some trial and error, you feel a slippery, almost fluid spiritual pressure. It's definitely strong, and it feels like it could easily be Lady Yoruichi.

You bow respectfully to Captain Hirako before taking off in the direction of the Ninth Division's barracks.

In one of the buildings there, you find Lady Yoruichi sitting with Lieutenants Iba, Mashiro, and Sadomaru.

“Ah!” Lady Yoruichi exclaims. “I wasn't expecting to see you here. Come to join in the festivities?”

Lady Yoruichi can be sarcastic sometimes. You're not always the best at picking up on it, but this hardly seems what you'd consider “festivities”. In fact, it seems like a lot of drudgery.

You bow. “Not at all. I figured you would require an escort.”

Lady Yoruichi waves her hand dismissively. “Jeez, Suì Fēng, it's not like I'm goin' into battle. You should relax.”

“All the same, I'd rather do so here.”

“Fine, fine,” she shrugs. “While you're here, you can give us some input on a few projects bein' floated as fundraisers.”

Lieutenant Mashiro grins ecstatically. “Great! We'll finally be able to test out our new strategy on a woman of the Guard Divisions!”

“Now then,” Lieutenant Iba addresses you sternly. “What do you think of Lieutenant Mashiro's idea of selling sweets cut into cute shapes? Like flowers, and rabbits?”

“I still don't get it,” Lady Yoruichi sighs. “Like if you made chocolate that looked like my Lieutenant, I'd feel bad biting its head off, you know?”

"Or," Lieutenant Sadomaru presses, "we could pursue *my* strategy. This involves taking a series of photographs of popular Shinigami, then using those to produce painted images. Those images would go into a year-long calendar, which we could then sell."

Yoruichi rolls her eyes as the three Lieutenants begin to debate the various merits and demerits of each idea. "Run, Little Bee," she whispers. "Just because I can't escape doesn't mean you can't."

“The calendar sounds more impressive,” you mutter to Lady Yoruichi. “But I think I'll take your advice and excuse myself.”

Lady Yoruichi nods in agreement with a wry grin. “Remember me for how I lived.”

As the three Lieutenants continue to argue, and Lady Yoruichi tries to get them to settle down and wrap up the meeting, you flee the scene. You feel a little bad about abandoning your Captain, but orders are orders. And when the Executive gives an order, it's your duty to obey it.

You return swiftly to the Second Division's barracks, making sure to hide your spiritual pressure and disguise yourself as best you can: at this range you can tell that Lieutenant Kusajishi is out and about, and you're curious to see what she's up to. So you track her down to a small clearing near the training fields, and position yourself in a tree in order to watch...

It seems like she's training them again? She's observing them as they practice with their training swords, every so often stepping in to correct their posture when necessary. Her awareness of each of their movements is impressive, you have to admit. It's like even the smallest detail fails to escape her notice. Then, something the girl does is sufficient to cause the Lieutenant to intervene.

“Rangiku, you're pulling yourself off balance,” Kusajishi explains quietly as she pushes lightly against the blonde girl's left shoulder, causing her stance to all but collapse. “And it's when you're unbalanced that you're at your most vulnerable. Our lives as Shinigami revolve around that crucial fact.”

“The life of a Shinigami?” the girl repeats hesitantly. The young silver-haired boy pauses to listen as well.

“It's because we know kindness, compassion, and love that we cherish those things, and protect them so ardently,” Kusajishi explains gently, continuing to walk the girl through several of the basic stances. “It's because we know despair, regret, and hatred that we feel empathy for others. It's because we need to be strong enough to protect what should be protected and defeat what should be defeated that we train, and it's because we put our lives on the line all the time that we treat every moment as precious.”

“Being a Shinigami is a decades or even centuries-long balancing act, tempering great power with wisdom born of experience,” the Lieutenant concludes. “Never forget that.”

Then she sighs, slapping her cheeks lightly to change the mood. “Right, enough of the heavy stuff. Whichever one of you catches me gets dango, my treat!”

The children seem to perk up immediately, and dash towards the Lieutenant. Her footwork, however, keeps her dancing just out of their little reach.

“Yer good at runnin' away, Miss Riku!' the boy taunts after a particularly close attempt.

Lieutenant Kusajishi merely laughs as she continues to evade the children's combined assault. “Not good enough, Gin! If you're gonna catch me, you're gonna have to use a flash step - THEN you can taunt me!”

She's teaching a couple of brats the flash step? How ridiculous this woman must be. Surely her foolishness MUST have some sort of limit to it...

Then, to your infinite surprise, the silver-haired brat actually goes and does it. But instead of merely tagging the Lieutenant, he grabs a hold of her leg to allow his slower friend a chance to do the same.

"Gotcha!" the boy declares. "Now we both get dango!"

Lieutenant Kusajishi promptly vanishes in a peal of laughter, leaving the two children to bonk their heads together when they stumble forward. "Like I'd be so easy to capture!" she teases, ruffling the boy's hair. When did she even use the flash step, let alone an Utsusemi? You're in shock, usually if it's anyone short of Yoruichi there are at least vague hints that a flash step is coming... but you saw none of that with this woman!

"But still, you did well," Kusajishi tells her young students. "For working together like that, you both get treated today."

As the blonde girl rubs her forehead, she can't help but grin as she exchanges a victorious high-five with the boy.

As the trio head off for the shops and stalls of the Seireitei proper, their conversation continues. You follow them, of course, trying your best to step as quietly as you can. “You worry too much, Gin. Relax, you'll get the hang of it eventually.”

The boy's posture, which had been a bit tense, seems to relax. “Thanks for teaching us, Miss Kusajishi,” the girl bows respectfully.

“You're not in my Division, Rangiku,” Kusajishi replies carefully, “so please just call me by name.” Allowing children to refer to her so informally, let alone children she's training? This makes no sense. It's a clear breach of etiquette.

“Well, Miss Riku,” Rangiku continues, “thank you all the same.”

“Don't mention it. I'm glad to.”

As Kusajishi and her small accomplices quickly pick a tea and snacks shop to settle into, you notice a white cloak and white hair already sitting under the outdoor canopy.

“Ah, Captain Ukitake! Good to see you're feeling better!” Kusajshi greets the Captain warmly. Has she EVER been formal with anyone in her life, or is it always like this?

Captain Ukitake seems not to mind. “Yes, it's such a lovely day it'd be a shame to waste it, don't you think? And who are these two?”

Kusajishi holds up four fingers, ordering four skewers of sweet mitarashi dango and green tea as she introduces her wary companions. “These are Gin and Rangiku. I've been taking care of them.”

“So, who's the fath...”

Lieutenant Kusajishi cuts the man off almost immediately. “Yoruichi.”

“I... what?” Captain Ukitake sputters, completely nonplussed.

Kusajishi laughs heartily. “I met 'em in the Rukongai, dummy! Then I kinda just took them in, I guess. Really, you're too trusting, mister Jūshirō.”

“It's in my nature!” the Captain replies, also laughing.

>>39920119
“Speaking of nature,” the Lieutenant muses, “I actually had a problem you might be able to help me with.”

“I'm listening.”

“You like kids, right?”

The Captain sighs heavily. “You know I'd love to, but with my work load and condition...”

“No, it's not like that,” Kusajishi reassures him. “It's just that when I arrived in the Rukongai I was an adult already, with no memories... I never really had a childhood, and I never really “played” before. So while I can train Gin and Rangiku just fine, I don't really know how to play with them. That's all.”

Captain Ukitake's expression changes when he hears what's apparently been on your Lieutenant's mind for some time now. You never knew that about her either... even you got the chance to play as a child.

“I suppose I could teach you a few games,” Ukitake replies thoughtfully as Gin and Rangiku stare in surprise at their guardian. The boy especially seems taken aback, his narrow eyes showing something going on inside his head... is it sympathy? Understanding? Something else?

Eventually the Captain and Lieutenant say their goodbyes and pay their respective tabs, before heading back towards their barracks. Oddly, Lieutenant Kusajishi leaves a skewer of sauce-covered dumplings and a cup of tea on the tray... such wastefulness.

“So what do we do now?” Rangiku muses quietly. “It'll be getting dark in an hour or two, won't it?”

“Captain Yoruichi was thinking about spending the evening looking at the flowers,” Kusajshi replies. “After all, the cherries are in full bloom, and the sunset's supposed to be beautiful.”

Seeing no sense in letting the food go to waste, you snag the dango skewer off the table and follow the Lieutenant and her young charges back towards the barracks, munching as you go. Eventually they meet with Lady Yoruichi, who has returned from her meeting only now.

“They decided to do the photographs,” she sighs warily as Kusajishi grabs hold of the guitar she brought back from the living world some time ago. You recall she was dreadful at it for months and months, but didn't seem willing to quit.

Kusajishi shrugs. “Well, Unohana had business and you were the Captain for the job. I'm just glad it wasn't me.”

Lady Yoruichi grabs a blanket while Lieutenant Kusajshi retrieves a jug of sake and a pair of small cups, and the two women temporarily leave the children behind as they take those items outside to a nearby hillside, which overlooks the Second Division's grounds. They then return for Gin and Rangiku, who they take with them.

By the time you can catch up they've settled in on the blanket. The children sit together while Lady Yoruichi and her Lieutenant share a drink. Then, the guitar comes up. You're mentally prepared for all manner of horrors to follow... but when Kusajishi actually begins to play you find she's improved dramatically over the few short years. Still not astounding, and she misses a note or two, but you can actually listen to it now.

In what you recognize as Chinese, a language nobles in Japan and Soul Society alike all speak, Lady Yoruichi begins to sing an old song, written by a poet long dead.

Here by the door our farewell footprints,
They one by one are growing green moss,
The moss so thick I cannot sweep it,
And fallen leaves: the Autumn winds came soon!

September now: yellow butterflies,
Flying in pairs in the west garden,
And what I feel hurts me in my heart,
Sadness to make a pretty face old...

As she sings the ballad to its tragic conclusion, the breeze carries flower petals along with the tune of her voice and the guitar, washing it over you like the tide rolling in off the sea. The two children seem blissfully unaware of the content of the song, simply content to relax and listen.

“Very nice,” Lieutenant Kusajishi chuckles to herself. “In another hundred years, maybe I'll manage a proper accompaniment.”

“So are you going to join us, Little Bee?” Yoruichi muses quietly when the song is done, patting the blanket to her side.

“As expected of Lady Yoruichi's skills,” you admit, finally revealing yourself. “How long did you know?”

Lady Yoruichi smiles at you. “Since Riku told me.”

You can't help but laugh at that, while Yoruichi's expression stubbornly refuses to change. “Wait, you were serious?”

“Why'd you think I ordered four skewers of dango?” the Lieutenant asks you quietly as it dawns on you: she knew you were there the whole time.

“I hope you didn't leave those behind. They were too good to waste.”

“And you didn't say anything?” you demand, as the children at Lieutenant Kusajishi's side stir.

She merely shrugs. “I didn't want to run you off. Figured you must have had your reasons for stalking me.”

“Come ON!” Lady Yoruichi insists, pulling you down to sit next to her. “I gave you the day off to relax, and you didn't follow my orders. So now I'm gonna make you relax, Little Bee.”

Giving up, you sit next to your Captain. But as difficult as you were making it, this is really nice. The sun is going down, the flowers are in full bloom, the sake is crisp and cool, and your Mistress is singing as the dusk falls. What could be more relaxing than this? As the hours pass the Lieutenant sets aside her guitar and whisks the children off to bed, having noticed their exhaustion finally setting in from a long day.

When she returns the sun has set and the moon is beginning to rise: a full moon of pure white. Yoruichi lays back against your knees, and the Lieutenant sprawls out inelegantly next to her. They continue to sing in the darkness: old songs, new songs, love songs, silly folk tunes.

It takes a while for you to notice it.

It happens so gradually you could almost miss it, and in retrospect you almost wish you HAD missed it. But ever so steadily, Captain and Lieutenant shift closer together. At first you write it off as meaningless, or as a defense against the increasingly chilly night air. But one key detail shatters that illusion, and makes clear what these two would never tell you or anyone else outright.

Their fingers are entwined as they sing softly under the moon and stars.

What was it Lady Yoruichi said to you once? Years ago, when she taught you how to swing a sword under a moon like this? That “looking at you reminds me of myself”? That it was “like having a little sister”? That, you realize, has been the nature of your relationship with your mentor and idol for all these years. Any other intentions you may once have harbored were fleeting dreams, gone practically even as they came. And yet, you also realize something important: that this woman, Kusajishi, is no competition for you.

In the arenas you once may have thought you were vying for supremacy, you've already been defeated by her. But your relationship with Lady Yoruichi is different to hers: unlike her little brother Yūshiro, who Lady Yoruichi only jokes is like having a younger sister, she has chosen to sincerely describe you as such. And that sets you apart.

As your Captain and Lieutenant return quietly to the barracks, smiling at you as you follow along, part of you is disappointed. But the rest of you finds a new resolution: to be the best little sister you can for Lady Yoruichi, and to one day stand at her side as a fellow Captain.

In this pursuit, you will not be deterred.

You are Captain Kusajishi Riku of the Court Guard's Ninth Division, and you're apparently in trouble.

The reason for the appearance of one of the Royal Guard in Yoruichi's home is obvious: tonight you took a blank Zanpakuto into Hueco Mundo, the world of the Hollows, and presented it to an Adjuchas. With minimal help from yourself and your own Zanpakuto that Adjuchas, Apacci, managed to seal much of her power into the blade you brought. In doing so, she gained power and a form similar to those of the Shinigami: becoming an Arrancar.

Had it not been for the fact that there are now a total of six Menos you feel you can trust and work with if the need arose, Apacci included, it would have been the single dumbest idea in the history of the Soul Society.

Yoruichi seems to be caught between concern and indignation at the appearance of the self-proclaimed “God of the Sword”, inventor of the Asauchi which you gave to Apacci. “So, I take it you're here on orders? Seein' how you haven't attacked us yet it's the only thing that makes sense.”

Nimaiya Ōetsu keeps right on grinning at you, same as he has been. “And ain't it the truth? Normally I'd make ya play the guessin' game, but things're gettin' pretty serious down here... so I'll spare ya the runaround.”

“Thanks for that,” Yoruichi growls, though she seems to relax from her defensive posture just a bit.

“After gettin' Hollowfied by Aizen,” Nimaiya continues, looking you and your companions up and down, “yer first call's not ta kill 'im, or ta go to the Central 46. Nah, yer plan was ta go to Hueco Mundo, rip an Adjuchas' face off, an feed it ta one uh my swords... so my orders were ta come down here'n figure out if yer all stupid or brilliant, 'cause that's a real fine line sometimes.”

“So, why'dja go an' do somethin' like that?”

That, and the Hollow's we're friends with have better personalities than some Shinigami.

“We had no evidence,” you admit, “and killing him wouldn't clear any names. So I thought I know some perfectly decent Hollows, so I may as well do something nice for them. And if it counters Aizen's plans in the future, that's great too.”

"Yer bettin' he'll wind up there?"

You nod. "I did. And I'm not even the one trying to turn things into other things."

Rangiku nods in agreement. “Not to mention the group responsible for the incident will have gone into hiding. Given how long we Shinigami can live, it could be decades before they try again... and waiting around's so boooring!”

“There are only thirteen real “laws” in the Soul Society,” Yoruichi points out, resting her hands on her hips as if lecturing the intruder, “and helping a Menos become an Arrancar doesn't fall under any of them. An Arrancar isn't a weapon, and if anything having powerful Arrancars in our camp should HELP Soul Society.”

Oetsu nods, stroking his chin thoughtfully as if there were a long beard there. “I see, I see. Fair points. Still, you sure makin' yer move in Hueco Mundo was the best plan?”

You shrug. “If it were so easy to stop Aizen someone would have done it already. Either you, one of the Thirteen Divisions, or my boy Gin.”

“Yer partly right,” Oetsu agrees. “I may be able ta sense where his sword's at, but I don't know what its powers are or what he's doin'. I may be a “God”, but I'm not an all-seein' God.”

>How do you “sense” a sword? Who are you, even?

You silently ask Tenkotsuki if there are any illusions being used in the area, to which she responds with an immediate no. There is however a slight tension there, from what you can tell aimed at Oetsu the self-proclaimed God of the Sword.

“You haven't gone after Aizen,” Yoruichi presses. “I assume that means you can't?”

Oetsu nods. “Yup. I know where his sword's at, an' I know it's an illusory type, but as fer what he's doin', how he's doin' it, an' what his ultimate goal is? No clue.”

“Plus, it's yer damn job ta deal with shit like that,” he continues, waving his hand. “That's what yer here for, remember?”

“So the fact that the Central 46 did a botch job?” you ask.

“Pisses me right the hell off,” he replies, “but it ain't my job ta tell those knuckleheads what ta do. The Soul King lays all the tracks, ya see, an' he maintains 'em too. But it's the Central 46 that's drivin' the train. We guard that Soul King, so he can keep the whole thin' runnin', an' that's all.”

“If God ran the world he'd be a tyrant,” Rangiku muses.

“Clever girl, that one,” Oetsu gestures at your daughter. “She's got her mom's brains.”

You can see that Rangiku nearly asks “which one”, but she manages to bite her tongue.

“So you can't do anything to help us directly,” Yoruichi concludes. “Great. So that means we wait for now. No sense letting Aizen know we're onto him unless there's a chance to catch him in the act.”

Oetsu grins. “Now, who said I can't help ya at all? After all, you an' yer lil' army need some more Asauchi, an' I know where they all are...”

“And what's the catch?” you press warily.

Oetsu grins back at you. “What catch is that?”

“This is the Seireitei,” Yoruichi sighs. “Don't play dumb, there's always a catch.”

“Oh, that? Simple, really. You turn against the Soul Society, yer mine ta kill.”

You shrug. “That should go without saying. So what can you tell us?”

Oetsu produces a small piece of paper and an inkbrush, jotting down a few notes. “There's some in the Forest of Menos, in Hueco Mundo. They're all unaccounted for, so nobody's gonna miss 'em. Look fer a lone Shinigami runnin' round down there.”

“There's also gonna be a revolt or two in the future,” he continues. “So you may be able ta snag a few without anyone gettin' too suspicious.”

“In the future?” Rangiku asks cannily. “What's that mean? Did the Soul King tell you that?”

“Yup. He sees a lot, ya see. Sees things that were, things that are, an things that may happen. All the things that may happen, ya see. So he's quite keen to see if you see what he's seen, ya see.”

That sentence really got away from him, and he seems to know it. But you got the gist of it: the Soul King has seen several futures, and thinks that what you do may affect which one comes to pass. Curious.

“We'll keep that in mind,” Yoruichi replies, taking the note in hand. “Now can you PLEASE get outta my house?”

The God of the Sword sighs. “Man, I hate this part... there's gotta be a better way ah gettin' back up to the Palace.”

“You've made countless swords,” you observe cautiously. “But have you ever made a gun?”

Oetsu smiles and snaps his fingers. “It's a good thin' you asked that! I damn near forgot yer' mixin' in rifles with yer unit now. But ta answer yer question, nah. Not my style, ya see? If I were one of those Valhallans maybe, but the power of a gun's too dependent on the internal ballistics, y'see.”

“Internal ballistics?” Rangiku wonders aloud, clearly lost.

You frown, suddenly remembering more about the topic than you'd particularly care to. “He means all the mechanical factors with the rifle and round that determine velocity, spin, and energy.”

The God of the Sword laughs. “At's right! A Zanpakuto responds to its wielder's power more closely than a gun would. All Soul Society's military strategy's based on that principle: the stronger the wielder, the stronger the sword. It's why you Captains are damn near unstoppable.”

“It'll be fun seein' where this goes, Captain Kusajishi.”

“And how are we supposed to contact you, if we need to?” Rangiku presses.

“Trust me. When we need to talk again, I'll find you.” That's not ominous at all.

Finally, Yoruichi makes a request. You can tell she's been thinking this over since she heard Oetsu mention that he could feel where every Zanpakuto he ever made was. “Where's Urahara Kisuke?”

Oetsu shuts his eyes for a moment. “Karakura town.”

“Thank you,” Yoruichi nods. “And could you tell Kirio that Kisuke's taking care of Hiyori for me? She's probably worried.”

“Will do, Captain. Will do.”

>Need to take a short break, will return in a few minutes.

You and Rangiku return to your barracks, where the few of your men who are still awake at this hour greet you warmly. After they ask where you've been you're obliged to feed them a lie about how you, Rangiku, and Yoruichi need to hide your spiritual pressure whenever you train, so that you don't accidentally kill anyone with it. And it's half true, too: if you released your full reiatsu, it could kill or injure most Rukongai residents just by being near you.

The other Shinigami seem to find your story perfectly believable. Much to your daughter's amusement, you also tell the night watch that if they see a black cat running around the barracks to leave it be: that it's a stray you picked up while working with Second Division. They promise you that no cat will be barred entry or unreasonably detained on your Division's grounds.

Finally, after what feels like forever, you make your way to your new quarters.

“Nice,” you mutter to yourself, marveling at the way your complete lack of any personal belongings fails utterly to fill the space left empty after Kensei's belongings were removed and either placed into storage or given to members of the Division as mementos.

It's now that you choose to meditate with your Zanpakuto, finding yourself in your inner world once more.

“This time things are in order,” Tenkotsuki reassures you, producing a small pot of tea. “Why not take a moment to enjoy that fact?”

You bow gratefully before taking a seat. The tea is good, a jade tea of some variety, you think, and the gently flickering azure flames sooth your mind as you watch them dance. “How're you?”

Tenkotsuki inclines her head ever so slightly. “I am well, now that the shadow of Rosa has been banished... at least, for the time being.”

“About that,” you mutter. “Something she said bothered me... about you having sealed her away.”

Your Zanpakuto shifts in place where she sits, carefully arranging her tails behind her. “It is substantively true,” she admits. “Between the time Rosa Rosette died in the physical world and was reborn in the afterlife, I did take it upon myself to separate her memories, bitterness, and hatred from the rest of her mind. It was necessary, since two halves of a soul that are in conflict lead to deep imbalance when they are obliged to coexist."

"I had not thought I would see those things again, let alone powerful and personified. I am glad you handled this "Rosa" as well as you did, my dear Riku.”

>>
>>39924691
“You said for the time being?” you point out.

Tenkotsuki sighs, sipping quietly at her tea for a moment. “No solution is perfect. No balance is perfect. Only a complete blending of Riku, Rosa, and Tenkotsuki could produce a perfect equilibrium, if for no other reason than there would no longer be three parties.”

“So what you're saying is we're unstable?”

“No more so than anyone else,” Tenkotsuki replies dismissively. “Every individual has their own problems to manage. Yours simply take the form of a particularly pushy woman.”

“And you're sure that was necessary?” you press, one last time.

Tenkotsuki sighs again. “I came into being when the soul of Rosa Rosette was literally fragmented by the trauma of her own death. At the time I was sure that your being and my own could work in harmony, but that the memories and emotions I sealed as “Rosa” were too much for a newly-reconstituted soul to manage without repercussions.”

“I sealed her so that you could have a chance to be the sort of person you are, and it worked. I do not regret this decision.”

You raise your hands in defense, having apparently touched a nerve. “Fine. You don't have to justify it. So, do we have any problems I should know about?”

“One,” Tenkotsuki replies. “But it is a small matter... a mere nuisance, really.”

“Then tell me,” you offer. “We're two parts of the same whole. No sense keeping secrets.”

“That spell you use, Tenran,” Tenkotsuki tells you. “I would appreciate it if you would no longer use it.”

That's a strangely specific request. “Why's that?”

Tenkotsuki hesitates for a moment. “I... get dizzy. When you spin my blade. The last time, I was nauseous for an hour afterwards.”

For a few seconds, you manage to hold your laughter back. “It is not humorous!” Tenkotsuki insists loudly as you abruptly lose all sense of self-control and dissolve into a fit of giggles. “Do not make light of my discomfort!”

“Sorry!” you apologize, still chuckling. “But still, that's pretty damn funny, even you've gotta admit.”

Tenkotsuki immediately pouts. “Now that you know, I would appreciate your cooperation. Please rely on the Hyōga Seiran instead in the future.”

“Okay, okay!" you relent, before draining the last of your tea. "You got it.”

When you ease out of your meditation, you see a familiar pair of green eyes peering in through the window at you. Your ears are treated to the sound of soft but insistent scratching against the sill.

For now, despite the events of the last twenty-four hours or so having literally re-written the course of your life, things don't seem too bad.

>>

ooooh it will be glorious
Assuming I ever get arond to WRITING the damn things
And assuming I don't totally suck at it, seeing as how I have almost no romantic interaction between the two to work off of, and i'm not exactly j.k. Rowling
I'll try my damnedest though
>>
>>39927165
Seeing as how she wrote 50shades. I'll bet you write it better than she could.
>>
>>39927264
fun fact 50 shades was originally based off a twilight fanfiction. thanks for the vote of confidence though, expect to see the finished product in a month or two.
>>
I wonder if Apacci will no longer have a resurrection, but instead may have a Bankai.

Or may have both?
>>
>>39927426
oh yeah aizen just plot-rocked them didn't he?
>>39927165
also, now taking requests for locations and time frame, stick to stuff that's already happened because I can't predict the fuckin' future.
>>
>>39927471
>oh yeah aizen just plot-rocked them didn't he?

Either Plot rocked, or else had someone else manually remove the mask.

Plot rocking I think allows a higher power chance, several were done before plot rock.

I wouldn't even care about that, as long as her headdress in this quest is that Corinthian helmet inspired one in the Yhwach arc.
And for added fun, her blade can be a rhomphaia too.
>>
>>39927471
>also, now taking requests for locations and time frame,
Tonight,Since Riku and Yoruichi DO follow the no copulation if Lt and captain
>>
>>39927589
excellent point, new restriction added.
>>
>>39927471
If you guys want something specific in the future, just leave a comment in the thread adressed to Lewdanon, and i'll know you mean me. again no promises on time frame or quality but i'll try, and hey maybe i'll inspire someone better to join in.

>>39927589

>>
>>39927899
Also what do you guys think of me taking a name to respond to requests, it might make it a little easier to spot but I don't want to be a cunt.
>>
>>39927985
Eh that one i feel like you'd have to ask King about
>>
>>39927985
to clarify:only at the end of the thread, to respond to requests,
>>39928034
i see what you mean i'll check the archive to see if he's brought it up
>>
As a sidenote all requests will be run through my 3edgy5me and sicktwistedfuck filters, so sorry if you expect anything particularly dark or ...odd.
>>
>>39928131
Is it ok if the first thing thing that came to mind when you said odd was Yoruichi, wanting Riku to roleplay Rosa capturing her?
>>
>>39928171
That is very odd....Because i suspect Rosa didn't "Capture" people....One shot, One kill.....
>>
>>39928171
is that a request? because that passes both filters.
>>
>>39928216
Yes
It's a request now anyway
>>
>>39928233
>request logged.
Prepare for terrible acting!
>>
>>39928259

Tenkotsuki just silently judging us.
>>
>>39928259
And damsel-in-distress hilarity!
>>
>>39928275
Oh you have no idea, i'm going to write as being subtly pissed whenever Riku fails to dom.
And yes both Yoru and Riku have dom personalities, there will be contests, and ambush's.
>>
>>39928259
>Rangiku see's us in the cosplay tying up and carrying Yoruichi somewhere
>Riku:....I uh....I can explain this....
>>
>>39928306
Or worse Captain Unohana see us dressed up as Rosa
>>
>>39928298

>"How Wonderful on the bottom once again"
>>
>>39928306
>>39928333
fuhuhuhuhu, good thing rangiku is relatively decent at hiding, the hilarity shall ensue
>>39928361

Yoru can be very damn sneaky when she want's to, never underestimate the element of surprise.
