Beth and you knock on John’s door, you hardly have to wait at all before the door opens revealing John, “Yo, didn’t expect anyone today… whats up?”

You shrug, “Not much just coming to see how shits going.”

“Not bad,” John says as he moves out of the doorway, holding it open for you, “Look come on in, you’re letting the cool air out.”

“Actually you are,” Beth corrects as she steps in his house, “Most people just step outside and close the door.”

“Have you not learned anything about me?” John asks skeptical, “Its like ten degrees too hot to be outside for any length of time.”

You chuckle and shut the door behind yourself, realizing that you didn’t really have any plans past seeing if he was alright.

“Everything back to normal?” you ask glancing around his house.

“More or less,” John grimaces, “Still have to clean up some of the mess in my room but got most of it before saying fuck it and going to bed.”

“So you got it back to the normal level of mess then,” you smile, knowingly.

“Well, almost,” John sighs, “The normal mess is just things I use often that I’m too lazy to put away. This still has some wrecked shit.”

“Your definition of often must be, ‘anything I use in half a year’ then,” Beth teases.

“Maybe, I wrote it down somewhere seven months ago so it got put away,” John shrugs, as a smile breaks out, “Really though, not that I mind the company but whats up?”

“I was thinking about dragging you back to my house here shortly,” you say honestly, “We haven’t hung out lately and on top of that I’m cooking dinner tonight for extra’s.”

John looks skeptical, “Extra’s? What are we spares in the cast of Alex’s life?”

“What did you just figure this out?” Beth sounds surprised as she barely hides a smile.

“Hardly, I mean cooking a larger meal… extra mouths and all that,” you shake your head, “You down for it?”

“Hm, yeah fuck it, better than finishing cleaning my room,” John gives in after a moment, “Anything I should bring?”

>>39288121

“Got any decent four player games?” You ask realizing you’re collection is more two player with a couple exceptions.

“Yeah, I guess…” John says, “Probably’ll need an extra controller or two right?”

“Yep,” you confirm as he runs off to grab the stuff.

It takes only a moment before the three of you pile into Beth’s car, John bitching about the heat, “Seriously as soon as I graduate I’m moving north, this heat is awful.”

“You say the exact opposite in the winter,” Beth points out, “I think you just want somewhere you never have to leave your house.”

“Outside is fine as long as it stays a comfortable like seventy five,” John nods, agreeing with himself.

“Good luck finding that,” you snort, “By the way, you ever end up calling Summer?”

John sighs, “Nah man, I got home and looked at the mess and just said fuckit. I’ll get around to it eventually.”

Beth barely contains a laugh at that, glancing at you with a knowing look.

You shrug, and wonder if you should tell him or let it be a surprise.

“Yeah I get those feels,” you shrug, “Sometimes life happens and everything else takes the back burner.”

“Alex, life happened to you and didn’t even slow you down,” John’s tone is deadpan, “Seriously.”

“I did say sometimes,” you wave his accusation off, “Seriously.”

“I’m just pointing out, if you took that in stride I’d hate to see what you can’t,” John mutters as Beth pulls up to your house.

You spot your dad’s truck in the driveway, he must have gotten home early, “Neh, whatever,” you say as you climb out of the car; hurrying along the way to unlock the door.

John collects his shit and follows after Beth who’s joined you in your rapid abandonment of the car. You hum as you consider things, you could commandeer the living room’s TV, but you might need to work out a deal with your Father who’s watching something or another on it.

That said if you just stole some chairs, your room wouldn’t be awful.

“Hey, I’m going to see if I can’t convince my Dad to give up the TV,” you say quietly, hopefully low enough for him to not hear and prepare.

“Let me guess, you want us to wait in your room..?” Beth asks, somewhat used to this by now, “...Probably should knock first too.”

“Yeah, to both of those,” you nod, “Sorry, it shouldn’t take too long, hopefully anyways.”

“All good, better than huddling around your small TV,” John says already heading to your room, following behind Beth.

You swear you see your father head tilt, as if he started listening, “Thanks,” you say watching them leave. Waiting until you hear the door close, by now your Dad has turned to make eye contact.

“What ever it is you want, no,” he immediately says, “You wouldn’t send them off if it was going to be easy to do, so no.”

“You haven’t even heard what I was going to ask yet,” you say with a frown, as you take a seat next to him.

”Yo, whatever happens he’s got half our allowance,” Shadow Alex reminds you, ”So don’t forget to get that, if you can.”

‘Yeah, I’ll try, now might be a bad time to do so though,’ you think as your father responds.

“Look, you haven’t been married yet so you haven’t developed that instinct…” your father says slowly, “but when someone sends guests away and sits down it’s never good for you.”

“... I think thats just a standard instinct really,” you point out, “Still though I promise its nothing.. awful.”

“Alex, my newfound daughter, you are amazingly talented at setting off every warning bell,” your father pinches his brow.

>I’ll cook a meal for you if you let me have the TV.

“So,” you start out, “I’ll cook a meal for you, if you let me have the TV,” you propose.

“That was not nearly as bad as I was expecting,” your father says with a sigh of relief, “Seriously you have got to work on that.”

“Isn’t it my job to make you worry as a reasonable child?” You smile innocently.

“You got that backwards, its a parents job to worry about their child not the child’s to make a parent worry,” your father grumbles.

“Same thing, really,” you shrug, before reminding him, “You haven’t answered my question, though.”

“Can’t you see I am stalling for time while I think? Damn, you used to be more patient,” your father complains.

“I’m surprised I thought you would have jumped on the chance for more lasagna,” you comment, offhandedly.

“You ruined that with it twice in one week, I’m good for like a month,” your father grins in victory.

“So that’s a no?” You surmise, disappointed.

Your father is silent for a moment before shrugging, “Yeah sure, I’ll clear out. I’ll get back to you on what I want another day, and distract your mother.”

“Awesome thanks,” you say with a brilliant smile, “Ah also, can I have the other half of our allowance?”

Your Dad stares blankly at you for a few moments before realizing exactly what you mean, “I forgot that I pay half of it now, I’ll get back to you later.”

“Sure, thanks by the way,” you say as he turns off the TV and makes for his room.

“No problem, its not like its the only TV in the house,” he shrugs as he walks off, “Have fun.”

“I will,” you say as you head for your room, to collect the other three. Both John and Beth have managed to make themselves comfortable in that short amount of time. John’s sitting on the floor against the bed for back support while Beth is laying on her stomach watching Kat play.
1/2
>>
>>39294413

Kat, with the added audience, looks terribly self conscious and you can tell she’s trying really hard not to fuck up but keeps getting hit to small mistakes. Each time she get a bit smaller in her chair. Beth who knows Kat well enough looks terribly amused, while John is struggling with just watching her.

You can easily tell in the short moment that you’ve been watching that John is struggling with not taking over and showing her how to do the section.

“Yo, got the go ahead for living room TV,” you say after a moment, giving John serious relief, “Help me pull this shit in there,” you motion to your console.

John’s the first to get up, grabbing the games and controllers he brought over and making for the living room.

Kat pauses the game with a mixture of relief and disappointment, and watches you pull the cables from the console. You toss what you’ve free’d from the inevitable tangled mess that is any group of electronics without the excessive use of zip-ties, to Beth.

She bundles them and grabs your controllers as you pick up the console, Kat frowns at this, “... I probably should go to, huh?”

>You can leave that paused, I don’t mind.

“You can leave that paused, I don’t mind,” you say shifting the weight of the console, “Besides, it’s not like we’re going to go run or anything,” you tap the game system, “You’ll get to see what else there is to play.”

Kat thinks about it for a second or two, biting her lip as she looks back at the computer before standing up, “Kay, do I need to carry anything?”

“Just the controllers,” you say as you make your way for the living room, John has already claimed the recliner and looks more than at home.

“Took you long enough,” he says, relaxed.

“You’d think I was the guest,” you grin, “Didn’t take you long at all to get comfortable.”

“With chairs like this its a walk in the park,” John leans back into it, sinking further into the chair.

“You could help you know,” Beth says already setting up the cables, making it simple for you to just plug the system in and change the channel, “What’d you bring anyways?”

“I’ve been wanting to replay Dragons crown, figured this was a good chance to,” he gestures to the case on the coffee table.

“Actually yeah,” you agree, “The multiplayer on that is great, plus Kat’s only played brawlers so far.”

“She’s new to games then?” John asks, understanding coming across his features.

>>
>>39303159

“Yeah, just picked them up last night an all,” you ruffle Kat’s hair as she tries to escape John’s gaze. It’s kind of amusing how she doesn’t handle new people too well.

“So whats up with the sudden invitation anyways?” John asks, curious, “I mean since the whole sudden everything, we haven’t really hung out much.”

“I don’t know man, I’m not some master planner I just do what I feel like,” you say with a sigh, “Does there really need to be a reason to hang out and play games?”

“Nah I suppose not,” John admits as you go through the process of finishing setting up, getting the controllers synced before tossing John his.

The game starts and character select happens, before all of you start making your way through the game. Kat’s a bit clumsy at first getting used to the new controls and mechanics but thanks to her earlier experience its not too difficult to pick up. Though she does have an intense look of concentration.

You smirk at that, and nearly get wrecked as a result; idly you wonder if you should try for a conversation or just enjoy the time…. well its not like a conversation makes it unenjoyable.

Best of all is, when early in the year, when warmth takes hold here, the flowers start blooming and throughout the town hangs a heavy sweet smell of flowers, making people, only fitting for an old place such as this, very tranquil. sometimes the wind and the workers happen to take seeds with them into the town where they grow into little yellow colonies that only sweeten the air and dot the many gardens, parks and fields of green, oftentimes close to cherry blossoms from which single pink and white leaves drift lazily in the warm winds.
Spring here is beautiful.

You shrug to yourself, not really caring to talk about anything in particular, you idly chat about new games and anything you’re excited about coming out… which is to say nothing really.

It quickly moves from there to talking about new games to old fighting games and if Kat would like any.

“I don’t think I would,” Kat says after a while of listening to you, Beth and John discussing fighting games.

“Yeah..? Why’s that?” Beth asks, curious.

“Well..” Kat rubs the back of her head as you idle in town, having gotten distracted with talking more than playing, “It just… I’m not good and I don’t... “ her face is turning a bit red as she explains this.

“It’s all good, playing against us at first wouldn’t be helpful… probably even frustrating but they have vs AI modes for a reason you know?” you explain, “Plus fighting games are enjoyable when you start to get good at them… as long as you play against someone of similar skill yeah?”

“You got a bit irritated when you started out playing them against me,” John grins, “Though not so much anymore.”

“Well yeah, after butting my head against a wall for an age and a half I finally got good enough to wreck you somewhat reliably,” you huff, remembering John’s glee at stomping you initially.

“I wouldn’t call it wrecking,” John says defensively, “Seriously.”

“Yeah, yeah,” you say waving him off, before glancing at the time, easily five hours have passed, you probably should start thinking about what to cook.

”Yo’ if you’re going to cook you should summon me, so I can take your spot,” Shadow Alex suggests, ”I mean… It’d be awesome yeah?”

‘Yeah, alright. Sounds good,’ you think as you stand up, “Yo give me a minute, I need to go get started on dinner.”

“Should we just let you drop then..?” John asks, skeptical.

“Nah, Shadow Alex’ll take my place,” you wave him off and head out back, realizing he’ll try and ask more question, “It’ll be easier to show than tell.”

“.. alright, what are you cooking anyways?” John asks, curious.

“Steak and Potatoes with maybe something else, I’ll figure it out then,” you say with a shrug, closing the door behind you.

You glance at the grill and figure you’ll get the charcoal burning, to settle down in a nice even heat. With a bit of effort you get a fire started, you watch it for a moment or two, making sure it stays before walking out into the yard.

“Shield of glass, spear of light; Break now, mirror, aid my fight!” you say, starting your transformation. At first you think it failed somehow before everything burst into motion, rather literally, your clothes fly from your body in fragments.

Stopping in a sphere around you hovering for a moment and letting you enjoy the breeze against your bare skin, before rocketing back in and leaving you in your cargo pants, and blouse. You feel grateful for your bare shoulders and light blouse as the book of mirrors forms in your hand.

You open your book and pull out a mirror, about to start pulling power when Shadow Alex says, ”You know, if you used a shadow credit… I could make this last all day.”

You bite your lip as you hesitate, taking a moment to consider it.

It is. We have absolutely zero cores stashed, and we still need to figure something out regarding our current changes for when summer break ends. The more changes, the harder any non-magical methods become. And that's not even getting into the scariness of mental changes.

>>
>>39308230
>Doubt even aura of normality would save us then.

This is where you are wrong, wishes are full no bullshit you get what you intended. Aura of normality is 'people perceive you as nothing wrong'

It doesn't matter how far gone the changes got, or if you decided you wanted to walk outside buttass naked. Normal people without some level of magical resistance would perceive you as perfectly normal.

You will not be fucked out of a wish due to some technicality bullshit, especially considering how much effort and threads that would effectively make completely pointless outside of character interaction.
>>
>>39308478
Still I'd imagine more noticeable changes would raise the cost, meaning the more we get know the more expensive it would be.
>>
>>39308478
Based Hap setting the record straight
>>
If we dont get aura of normalcy, maybe we should get our shadow back? It seems relevant if nothing else
>>
>>39308499
No, because you are thinking of it in terms of hiding changes, however that's not mechanically what it is doing.

This is why its considered a cheap low end wish that solves magical girls problems, because it doesn't scale based off of changes.
>>
>>39308564
Aura of normalicy would deal with the lost shadow, and possibly all future changes.
>>
>>39308603

>>

>>
>>39308478
>Walking outside naked is normal for a nudist.
>>
I have no issues with permanent changes. It is part of the fun of these games. Avoiding them should be outright impossible since it is part and parcel with being a magical girl. You want magic? You are going to be changed by it.

They are going to happen. So chill with the 'oh you are dooiming us all!'
>>
>>39308733
Still spending power ups(limited supply of them) for a vanity thing which also leads to changes(which have messed us up in the past) is pretty damn stupid IMO.
>>
>>39308637
If magical girl, or mage, they would be able to see through it.

Gods and demons also, someone who knows what they were looking for explicitly might see hints of it if they stare long enough if they were not a magic user.

Its really a thing that affects ones perception more than anything.

I could go into the nitty gritty but that really would destroy any chance of another update as I'd get too excited and pace around while thinking of fun ideas.
>>
>>39308433
Doesn't seem that way, unfortunately. So we get the weird road where we continue unprepared for what comes, yet we also don't abuse the mechanics properly when we do splurge.
If shadow credits really do increase the length exponentially, then imagine how the bell curve would rise if we burned through a whole dozen of shadow credits in one go, giving her freedom for a good long time rather than just a single day. That might be something worth getting a (physical) change or two for. Especially if we managed to prepare for it first with mental protection and normal aura wishes.
>>

>Use a shadow credit, let’s give her another day out.

“Hm, yeah okay,” you give her the go ahead, as you pull magic you feel a new sensation. The core that was silent from before, begins to suffuse you with energy Shadow Alex makes a surprised noise and you can feel her hands working to direct the excess energy, back into your spell.

You shiver at the electrified sensation, making your hair stand up on end and leaving you a little tired feeling. The last of its directed to your hands and then into the mirror, as you hold it before you; shaking of the hesitation at the new sensation, you throw the mirror before you and see Shadow Alex reflected in it. You both draw back a fist and cross counter each other shattering the mirror; leaving a more than happy Shadow Alex behind.

She quickly helps you up, and gives you a tight hug, “It’s been awhile since I last was out!”

“It hasn’t been that long, has it?” You ask thinking about it, trying to do the math.

“Eh, maybe?” Shadow Alex frowns as both of you try to add up days, “It felt long though.”

“Well, I can’t deny that one,” you smile as she pulls away, “Anyways, I’m going to start cooking. John’s probably tired of waiting if you want to do that.”

“Hrm, well yeah but not because John,” Shadow Alex’s shrug turns into a stretch as she heads inside, “Just call me if you need any help cooking.”

“Yeah, I will,” you nod, following her in and grabbing the steaks to start seasoning them. You grab the potatoes and wrap them in foil putting them on the plate next to the steak before heading outback and cleaning the grill off. You’re thankful its got a good temperature as you throw everything on.

With a care watch on the time you manage to balance the two, moving between the steaks and potatoes, turning them as needed and giving them a nice cross sear on the steaks.

As you’re pulling everything off and getting ready to set the table you hear a knock at the door, you can’t help but smile as you turn to get it and notice the smell of the steak has lured everyone to the table already, “Yo’ its good to eat, serve yourself.”

“Smells amazing,” Kat’s barely resisting drooling as she quickly makes her way to what becomes the start of the line.

“Steak does that,” you confirm, as you head for the front door.

A concerned looking Summer is waiting, checking the address she wrote down and the numbers on your porch. She looks relieved when you open the door, “Awesome, I did read it right.”

“What do you have chicken scratch for handing writing?” you ask trying to get a look at the sheet of paper, though you get denied when she crumples it up.

“Something like that,” Summer nods, “Not always, its just I was in a hurry for food.”

“Speaking of, you arrived at the perfect time,” you say holding the door open, “Food just finished getting made. Literally just pulled the steaks off the grill.”

Summer’s eyes light up at the mention of steaks, “Awesome,” she practically sings as she hurries into your house, following her nose to the kitchen with you just behind.

Kat’s already at the table looking like she’s in heaven, as she chews slowly; her ears happily twitching with a spaced look on her face.

Your Dad is next, though half of his steak is gone already. You frown at that and see he’s starting to take his time eating, chewing deliberately slow.

Beth’s sitting down as you and Summer hit the kitchen, getting to the back of the line, John just after her with your mother and Shadow Alex in tow.

“Yo everyone, this is Summer, Summer this is Beth, John, Dad, Mom, Alex, and you’ve already met Kat,” you introduce her and everyone else.

They share a mutual, “Nice to meet you,” before promptly ignoring each other in favor of warm food.

You sit down at the table next to Beth with Shadow Alex across from you, and realize its a bit cramped as chairs had to be pulled up to fit everyone at the table. You shrug and ignore the closeness in favor of taking your first bite.

Immediately you realize you outdid yourself with this steak, and you chew it slowly enjoying the hearty flavor of the meat and the slight searing that the grill gave it. You don’t even consider speaking as everyone sits there and enjoys the meal in silence.

No one moves to get up as they finish, you lean back full and content. Idly you realize John’s yet to react… a glance his way instantly destroys that as he’s staring daggers at you.

>Hopefully that made it worth it?
>Yep, that was a good end to the day.
>Sometimes silence is golden.
>Write in

Also, what to do after?

>Go for a walk, after a meal like that its needed.
>Become one with the couch.
>Pull John aside, see how mad he is.
>Write in

This I think is my limit for the day, these have not been just happening like I want.

Plus writing about Steak has REALLY made me want some, I can almost literally taste it.

Thanks for running, man.

Thanks for the new chapter!

Say, is Shadow Alex able to temporarily go back 'inside' during the duration of Mirror Match? I don't imagine it would come up often, but say if they wanted to adjust some clothes to fit someone, would she be able to step 'inside' right quick to do that? Or could she do it from outside, via fondling through Alex's chest or whatnot?

Thanks for running Hap.

There was already an example of this in prior threads. I forget when but pretty sure its been done.

The former part she did head back in earlier, but did not come back out; she could have though, until the end of the duration.

>Shadow Alex seducing a girl and bringing her back to Alex, pulling her inside.
>Short while later Shadow Alex scampers off and were left with someone we don't know asleep inside of us.

It could be better than that.
>Mirror match duration is a day for whatever reason
>This happened at the start of the day, she starts panicking
>Alex has to explain that she's pretty much SOL until SA comes back because fuck if Alex knows how to get her out.
