Your wanzer vaults over the lip of the crater and onto solid ground, giving you a better look of the area. Whatever happened in this city, it was a fierce fight. All around you are the remains of damaged cars, abandoned buildings, and fallen rubble. That isn't a bad thing, for you - it just means that there's more cover to be had. You look at your HUD's mini-map, and can see that there's a few roads leading out of here. You can remember that the road leading forward would lead you straight to Yellow Pack territory, but the road to your left would head you off into Green Pack territory.

You begin to scout out the area. Mini-maps don't do shit compared to pounding dirt, after all. "One, two...three spots for cover on the front road. Then it's Yellow Pack turf. To the left, it's a straight shot. But that goes two ways, if they're gonna charge at us." You murmur to yourself. Beyond that, however, you're going to have to actually look into the buildings. Who knows what else these Skiev gravvers have in store for you? And if you're down, then...

Fuck it. Grabbing your thrust lever, you take your first steps into Metal Hell.

Welcome to Wanzer Quest.

[Last minute thread-glance saves the day! HEAT CHARGES : 1]

WANZER STATUS : ALL GREEN

While you try to peek into a nearby building, a glint of light catches your eye. It's the telltale gleam of high-tension steel wire, strung along so that any hapless pilot could just walk their wanzer into that. It probably doesn't lead to anything good, in any case. A few more peeks into similar buildings reveals that there are a few other types of traps, concealed in the rubble. To no one's surprise, there are no traps leading to the Yellow Pack. "Good spots for an ambush. I'll mark it on the HUD."

There's a bit of static on the radio. You can hear the same two voices that first responded to you - one male, one female. "The downed wanzers are back up. I'm Nahn, by the way." The woman says smartly. The man chips in after her. "The perimeter's secure, sir. Forward and left are the only ways in or out of our crater position. I'm Roy, sir." Nothing you didn't already know, but it's good to get some confirmation, at least.

Your thumb hovers over your radio comm button.

Before you can speak, you're interrupted by the sounds of gunfire and grinding metal in the distance. It sounds distant - either Yellow or Green pack made a move on Blue, probably. The gunfire follows you even as you regroup with your team at the crater.

"Let's see who I'm working with. You two are already following orders, so we don't need to worry about pecking order. Head check, go." You say. Roy buzzes in with a quick 'Yes Sir!' and moves his wanzer closer to you. He's got a speed unit, too, but his seems to have a shotgun equipped. Nahn steps up next, with her wanzer being one of the power models. It's a more bulky build, with wires and pistons bunched together like muscles around steel pipes. She has a machine gun in her graspers, with the bullet feed wrapping into her unit's arms. The other two units haven't responded, yet, but you can see that one of them picked the big defense unit. Instead of weaponry, the giant juggernaut wanzer has Pile Bunkers built into huge shields on either arm. The last wanzer in your team seems to be more of a ranged unit, having a big sniper rifle on its back.

Now to deal with the two quiet ones. "You two. Respond. Can you - " "Skreeta-toi! Skreeta-toi!" Is that Formic? Was there a fucking bugger with you? The defense wanzer starts to move forward in a blind panic.

1/?

>the bugs have french inflexions
>>
>>39035391
Fuck. While Nahn tries to restrain the skittering mech, you consider your options. For now, you're working with three mechs. If you were to set a trap, you could have either you or Roy be a runner, try to get another pack's attention, and lead them through the trap-laden areas. It's probably better if you do that plan. Alternatively, you could skip the traps and bring them into the crater, where the team can wail on them from below. The other team fighting against the Blue Pack is going to be too far away to try and bait whichever team wants to engage.

You turn back to Nahn and Roy just as they finish pushing the bugger down. "Damn it, bugger, calm your ass down." "Quai, quai, skreeta!" "Gods damn it, I don't need this shit right now. Alright, listen up. Nahn, Roy, here's the plan..."

>We're attacking the Green Pack! They only have a slight advantage over us.
>We're attacking the Yellow Pack! Once the big dogs are down, everyone else will be easy to fight!

>I'll bait them through the traps, then we can engage them in open combat!
>I'll bait them into the crater, then we can practice a recreation of Little Bighorn.

The chitter-chatter of the bug is annoying, but it's nothing you aren't used to, at this point. With all the noises coming from the back of your machine, it's no wonder that you aren't deaf, already. "Alright, men. The plan's simple. The road to Green Pack has a lot of cover. It's also got quite a few traps, in the buildings. We can set up an ambush for them along the road, and then I can run their asses raw through the traps before we pounce on them. Sound good?"

"Sir? Why don't we just bait them all the way to the crater? It'll probably be easier for us to do that, don't you think?" Roy asks. You respond with a scoff. "Hell no. By the time I've run them through the first trap, they'll know something's up. There's five traps that I spotted through the buildings. By trap two, they'll probably start to retreat, or wait until I dive out of cover. I'm just hoping that I can get enough of their crew down to where it'll be a fair fight for us. Now let's set up. Leave the bugger and other mech here; they'll only slow us down."

The bugger didn't understand, but he wasn't all too keen on following your wanzers, anyway. The other mech, however, was gone. "Fuck it. Guy's probably dead. Ready, team? Break!"

The rolls I made are for your squad members.

As eager as your team was to agree to your plan, their execution was nothing short of miserable. Nahn, at least, was able to climb over the lip of the crater, but it took both of your wanzers to push Roy out. "I'm sorry, sir - I'm not used to having to do this manually!" He wails. "Then how did you stop the damn bugger!? Didn't you shits learn how to go null if your AI bugs out!?" You scream.

It took way too much time to get him out of there. You could already see movement coming toward the horizon. "Nahn, finish up here. I'll drag the enemy to alpha trap. Just get to cover!" You shout. Without waiting for her response, you thrust your wanzer forward. Darting from cover to cover, you're able to avoid being detected by the figures in the distance, as well as take a look at what they were working with. Your wanzer stops around the corner of a building close to them, and you slap the HUD away from your forward window to look at the enemy.

It looked like they weren't even going to check their corners. These Green Pack voiders were going to be null sweat, easy. "Nahn. Roy. Get to position. I'm engaging soon." You say. Nahn gets into position, but - "Sorry, sir, I'm still trying to pull up a basic AI! I'll get into position soon!"

Fucking Roy. There was no time to wait for his fumbling. You pop out of the corner, aiming your gun right at the closest forward power unit! A quick flick of your fingers onto the trigger, and you fire a short spray of lead into him! Your aim is impeccable - the shot goes right into the cockpit, blasting through the back battery and making a bright shower of sparks!

- 1 Green Pack Power Suit

The rest of their pack breaks formation, hastily training their guns at you. By the time they're able to fire, however, you're already darting into a building, expertly evading their return fire and slipping through the wire trap! Another power wanzer follows you, and their leg trips on one of the wires -

KABOOM! A fiery explosion is set off around the mouth of the building's opening! The trap seemed to be a bunch of demo charges, and the fire engulfs the green pack pilot's wanzer before crushing him in a mountain of rubble! You are just able to slip out from the back of the building.

You gotta hand it to Myl - she might not know how to make 'em pretty, but this wanzer handles like a dream. The more you pilot it, the more it seems to respond to you...or maybe that's just your old training kicking in. Either way, you scream, "Flank, flank! Go for defense wanzer!", before darting out of cover.

The enemy commander is the only competent one out of the bunch. He sees that your squad is trying to flank, and he raises his arms toward them, shielding his face. Nahn leaps out of cover, her machine gun aimed right at the center of the enemy CO's shields, before letting loose. Roy leaps out, as well, and the two unload shot after shell of precious ammo. Fucking hell.

The CO doesn't notice you, and his team doesn't seem good enough to actually hit your speedy wanzer. You train your guns on the defense mech's legs and fire three shots. Heavy metal gives way to sustained fire, and you're able to bring the big mech down to one knee!

A shot rings in the distance. Out of nowhere, a long bullet comes whizzing past you, just missing your cockpit and making a small hole near one of the green pack's power suits. You don't have enough time to wonder what's going on before the enemy power wanzers hoist up their guns!

"Suppressing fire on the CO! I've got the grunts!" You bark out. The soldiers focus fire on you, since you're the lightest and the weakest, and they almost get you. Almost. You're just able to duck behind a truck and return fire, keeping two of the wanzers focused on you. Roy and Nahn finally get their act together - raising the butt of her machine gun up high, your heavy gunner tears at the enemy CO's shields. Roy gets a clear shot at his wanzer's cockpit and blasts away, blowing the CO back onto the ground. All that remained of the enemy defense wanzer's pilot was a scrap of cloth, hanging from the hole that was once his center of mass.

"Gods damn it, just get the fuck out of here! I'll deal with you later!"

Another high-powered shot blows past you, this time toppling a bit of concrete that was behind one of the remaining Green Pack wanzers. You take this chance to step out of cover, spraying a full clip into one of the soldiers' battery packs. The resulting explosion forces the wanzer closest to that one onto its back, and you've got ample time to get back into cover before taking any return fire.

Roy and Nahn, under the cover of both your fire and the sniper's cover fire, make a hasty retreat. They both get themselves out of cover and make a beeline for the crater! The remaining green pack members aim to shoot at them, but the remaining threat (you) is still too close for comfort. They continue to pump shots into the upturned truck while you reload your sub-machine guns.

It's two on one. They're still stunned, but the chaos is starting to die down. If you don't act now, you'll lose the advantage. But how to break them?

>Options?
>Try to communicate with the sniper. They might not be the greatest of shots, but they're still functioning.

You didn't believe Myl when she said that red team was the shitter team. You really should have. You really, really should have. "Fuck it. I can do this, no sweat." You grunt to yourself, launching out of cover. The speed of your mech is put to the test as it dodges salvo after salvo of bullets. You're even able to dodge the shot coming from behind you, forcing it to miss completely!

Your ammunition isn't infinite. A readout on your screen shows that you're starting to run low. Still, you've got more than enough to blast the one who got blasted back. You flick your SMGs over to the wanzer on the left and pull the trigger, not having a chance to look at the damage you did before being forced back into cover. You don't have to look, though - the explosion is bright enough to reflect off of a ruined car's mirror.

- 1 Green Pack Wanzer. Green Pack is close to Extinction!

That last spray wasn't as costly as you thought. You still have enough to get rid of the last guy. That said, these guys aren't your only enemies. You could always go in for a melee kill, or try to push the last wanzer into a trap. As if to help you make a decision, you hear a satisfying, hollow 'chik-chik-chik'. They just ran out of ammo.

Your thoughts are interrupted as a rifle soars through the air, slicing your right hand off and sending you for a spin! Your breasts are crushed against the wanzer's front window as it tumbles to the ground. "FUCK!" You howl, brushing aside your flame-dyed, shoulder-length hair while scrambling to get back up. The green pack power wanzer approaches you, fists primed to attack. Is this it? Is this the end for Flare Cuvic? You close your eyes, thoughts wandering to home.

When you open them again, you notice that there's a distinct lack of wanzer metal in your face. You also notice - very happily, you might add - that your body is still intact. You look up to find the enemy mech's cockpit pierced right in the dome. The shot ruptured the roll cage and drilled itself right into the seat. "...holy fu - "

BONG! BONG!
GREEN AND BLUE PACKS HAVE BEEN HUNTED TO EXTINCTION! THE REMAINING PACKS ARE RED AND YELLOW!
BONG! BONG!

The gong rang your thoughts away, replacing it with the battle at hand. While you pick yourself up, you open up your radio comms. "Coulda done that sooner, sniper. All units, respond."

"Roy here, sir. I'm still up."
"Nahn here, sir. I'm up, but my arm's been torn off."
"TARTOOOOOUFFE!"
The sniper still didn't respond.

Well, you're sure that the Yellow Pack's gonna be moving out, soon enough.

"Team, fall in on me. We got a few minutes to make some hasty repairs, so let's get Nahn back up to speed. Roy, I don't trust you half as far as I can throw the fucking bugger, but I'll leave you to scavving duty. Nahn, you're with me. Let's see if we can't patch your shit together. Sniper...just keep an eye out. You've killed a total of one wanzer to my three, but you're better than these two." As much as you wanted to be nice to your squadmates...no.

Roy's busted hand made for a tough job, on his end, but the man seemed to be competent enough to scrounge up a few clips of ammo from the wanzer wrecks. He also pulled out a working SMG, and even found your missing hand. "I've got it, commander." While he went out to scavenge, you approached Nahn's mech and opened your own cockpit. Nahn also got out, and the two of you inspected the damage.

The firefight didn't even have the decency to tear the arm off clean. sharp spikes jutted out of the open gash like bone; wires sparked and flew in the air like veins. "That's not gonna be an easy patch, sir." Nahn says to you. She's a tough looking girl, with a steely gaze and a squared jaw. She was taller than you, clearly, but a little less equipped in the muscular range. "Even if we could line up the parts right, it's no guarantee that we can wire this thing properly with the short amount of time that we've got." Roy, not being given any directions as to what he should be doing, began watching over the crater-locked Formic in the defense wanzer. To the sound of backwater gravver music, bugger screams, and the sizzle of electricity crackling in the air, you got to work.

A few bits and pieces of memory flood into your mind. Late nights in the chop shop, putting clamps on your first battery pack. A spanner in hand, a welder in the other. The stench of your hot breath from within a welding mask. You feel the old sensations running up and down your reddened fingertips, and what Nahn thought would be a tough job was nothing but simple for you. While she holds her busted arm up with her good one, you weld the steel beams back together. You're able to make quick work of the wires, untangling and rewinding them so that the flow of energy could go through unimpeded.

>Methodical evolves into 'Mechanic'! Your small bonus is now a confirmed +10 to rolls based decisions you have made in the tread! This applies only to wanzer operation and operating other types of machinery, as well as operating wanzer-related tech. The previous bonus toward actions that take time still applies.

You can't shake the memories off of you. Thinking back, you remember exactly how you got into wanzers, in the first place...

The Iscariot Vigilante Company was the biggest part of the S.S. Iscar. They were basically the military force for the whole mobile base. knocking heads wherever they needed to knock them and righting wrongs...so long as the money was good, anyway. An image of a poster, ragged at the edges and hanging from the wall next to you bunk, pops into your head. "The Iron Crown always comes through." You murmur under your breath.

They were always recruiting, and you always had a good hand for wanzers. Wanting something more than the usual fare of the S.S. Iscar, it was an easy choice to sign up. You joined the Bullseye Squad as their mechanic at sixteen, four long years ago. The following two years had some of the most gruesome, intense training that you'd ever received. And then -

"Sir, nice job! It's a full patch-job!" Nahn says with a grin, closing up her cockpit. You jump into your wanzer and step back, letting her test the arm out. Up, down, left, right; bend, extend, jab... looks like a perfect job. Of course.

Roy comes back, standing beside Nahn. "What now, sir?"

"They're probably good enough to cut us to pieces assaulting over open ground, and being pinned by them sounds like suicide. Lets stick with what works." I'd assume we could go to where we spotted other traps, so there aren't wanzer husks lying around screaming this is an ambush?

"Alright. Here's what we're gonna do." You open up your HUD and look at the remaining trap spots. You only blew up one of the five, after all. "We've still got a few traps, here. We can set up an ambush, drag the bodies into cover and rig them to explode. These Yellow Pack gravvers have the upper hand with better mechs, but we're more than capable of doing good shit with traps. In a prolonged fight, the smarter mind wins out - as long as we can out-guerrilla their asses, we'll win. Nahn, Roy..."

You WANT to say that Roy should go and get himself spotted, but it can't leave the tip of your tongue. Having him die...is it worth it? Then again, if you send him out, you can set up better traps. Besides, it's not like it's a guarantee that he'll die...unless he's really as incompetent as your first impression leads him to be. You could always go along with him, pretending to be limping wanzers, but when was the last time any enemy believed that? Decisions, decisions...

"Roy, you got us some clips and ammo. I'm hoping that you and Nahn, working together, can do something with the traps and shit. They're at these buildings. If you leave the wanzers intact, we get more money, but I'd be more than happy to just get out of this hellhole alive." You point to the four buildings that still have intact traps, then step out toward the end of the road. The Yellow Pack...well, they're probably looking for you, as much as you're looking for them. You might as well get started now.

You give your wanzer's legs a few experimental shakes. Letting out a deep breath, you look to the Yellow Pack's base. "Iron Crown always prevails."

---

A few minutes of traversing the ruined cityscape find you close to the Yellow Pack's LZ. You're sure that they regrouped in here. That, or they were dumb enough to sit on the battlefield and do some patch jobs on their wanzers. But you only did that because you were guessing they'd be out on the prowl.

A slow hiss draws your attention. You look around you - no one. Your hiding spot is good enough to where they're not going to spot you...right? Just in case, you prep up your leg engines. Just as you're about to look for new ground, a flicker catches your eye. You dive to the left, narrowly avoiding the swipe of a revving chainsaw!

>>39040872
As you dodge, you're able to get a good look of what you're facing against. The owner of the swiping chainsaw was less of a wanzer and more of a mech-beast. You've heard of them, before - wanzers in the shape of animals, with the pilot sitting in the center of the unit instead of the head. It looked like a yellow wolf, with sleek edges and glowing claws. High-Frequency Blades, maybe? Behind the mech-beast was another strange sight - it looked like one of the guards' wanzers. With a yellow-glowing blade in one hand and a gleaming revolver in the other, the mech stood tall and proud. You were almost envious.

Almost. The mech-beast dove at you, but you effortlessly drifted to the side. You didn't even have to try to avoid the enemy speed wanzer's bullet - a slight tilt of your shoulders, and that thing just missed.

Your return fire was swift, shooting close to their feet before turning and running. The sounds of gunfire and revving chains hound you from behind, while, from in front, a large explosion rang through the streets. "FUCKING HELL, ROY!" You scream.

Well, you can safely say that your trap idea's been bunked. You don't have time to radio your team - you'll have to make a snap call!

Roy's boned. Nahn's boned. You don't have enough time to check on them on the comms. If you're gonna get burn out, though...you might as well burn brightly. "Fuck this and fuck you!" You growl, turning your wanzer right back around to face the enemy. Your gun's not looking too hot on ammo, but conserving your shots seems to have done you well - if you're lucky, you can probably take the mechbeast out in one blow.

Your sniper plugs a bullet near the top of the enemy speed wanzer's shield, just shy of plugging the top of the cockpit. It's a good enough distraction for the enemy to start firing back at the sniper, though, leaving you to the mech-beast. Whoever is piloting the animal wanzer is a fierce fighter - they slash relentlessly at you with their HF Blades. If it were anyone else, they'd be torn to shreds, especially in a junk heap like yours.

They're not facing anyone else. They're facing Flare Cuvic of the IVC. You step neatly out of the beast's range, forcing it back further with some suppressing fire of your own. With the space you've given yourself, you have mere seconds to decide what to do.

>Keep fighting the mech-beast! Spray and pray!
>Keep fighting the mech-beast! Get up close and personal!

The speed wanzer's looking away. He looks like he's trying to peck away at the sniper's position, but that shield's not doing him any favors. The mech-beast is a strong fighter, but he doesn't have the range to fight you. If only you could - that's it!

You charge toward the enemy speed wanzer with your stump. As you expected, the mech beast and the speed wanzer both turn to face you. As the speed wanzer draws his revolver up, you look into the reflection of his shield. Wait for it... The mech beast revved its chainsaw, launching itself toward you feral fury. Wait for it. The speed wanzer in front of you has the revolver trained right to your face. Almost there...

The speed with which your mech steps to the side is almost atto-second perfect. Any later and you would have died. Any sooner, and it wouldn't have worked. Dropping your SMG, you take witness to your plan's fruition - the High Frequency Blades tear through the enemy speed wanzer's shield like a hot knife through butter. His chainsaw lops the top half of the pilot's cockpit open, and you only get a split-second to see the incredulous look on the pilot's face before his body is pierced by the tip of a very large rifle round.

The pilot lurches forward in his cockpit, forcing the revolver up high.

Sup/tg/ is now up, if you guys ever wanna look at it in the future.
>>
>>39041982
If the norm is humanoid and there are beasts, what about actual tanks? Battleships?
>>
>>39042151
That's actually coming up in the next thread, on Thursday or Wednesday. I'm not quite sure yet, since Holy Week and all.

Well, whatever's whatever. I'll come up with something.

>>39042166
Since there are helicopters, tanks can be allowed, yes. It's just an archaic weapon, when compared to heavy gunner wanzers. You have yet to see if there's any water, but battleships of the spatial variety exist.
>>
Danks for runnin sir
>>39041982
So, we got scrap from thost two mechs, right?
I mean, they're relatively intact?
Also our allies a shit, why do they suck so bad?
Also exp or skill level for shooting/melee/dodge/ect when
>>
>>39042428
I haven't yet thought of a good leveling system, frankly. I kinda like giving you guys skills and traits, so that little stunt you pulled out might get you something.

I will say this - I'll be giving more write-in choices, in the future. The more specific you guys get and the more well-reasoned each action is, no matter if I believe it's the right or the wrong one, the better the result will be. Partially because I'll be able to better write what you guys wanna do.

In terms of scrap...you'll have to see until later on. By my calculations, you guys have the equivalent of four not-destroyed mechs.

I DID NOT EXPECT ROY TO SUCK SO MUCH SHIT HOLY FUCKING HELL I AM SO PISSED AT HIM. I was really hoping he'd pull through a little bit more, but instead of being the 'number two sidekickbuddy guy', he's becoming the shitty fool.

At least the sniper isn't doing too bad.
>>
>>39042428
>Also our allies a shit, why do they suck so bad?
Sniper is good. He probably can't speak Uni good. Maybe learned in the interwebs
>>
>>39042500
He or she may have other things preventing them from speaking. Consider all the options.
>>
>>39042493
>I kinda like giving you guys skills and traits, so that little stunt you pulled out might get you something.
So if we pull off something amazing, we get a perk related to it if we also do good write-ins along with it?
HYPE

Perhaps you should take FRONT MISSION's level points as example, and add more categories. Like, specifying dodge/aim/melle for different shaped mechs.
all skills start out near 0, and gain exp on that field whenever yo do that task. When you blow off a limb or any part (kills included) you get ten times the exp (like 11 becomes 110 exp). Each 100 xp is 1 level, and you had up to 99 levels on each skill.
perhaps adding perks for reaching certain levels of skill will help. Like the duel (aim parts with guns in close combat) or guide (long range variant of duel).
>I DID NOT EXPECT ROY TO SUCK SO MUCH SHIT HOLY FUCKING HELL I AM SO PISSED AT HIM
KEK
this made my day
>At least the sniper isn't doing too bad.
Oh yeah, totally forgot about him. He's so out of the screen, we forgot about him despite his good executions.
how's our loot going? In terms of weapons I mean.
steal claws?
How's our revolver look like? in terms of function I mean.
>>
>>39042702
I was waiting for someone to ask about the revolver.

Under normal circumstances, a weapon like the revolver would be unwieldy, in terms of big wanzer battles. Why not just go for a shotgun? Well, this revolver is a little bit special. You'll have to wait for after you head back to the warehouse, but Flare obtaining it is a good thing. A very good thing.

Hmm... I like that idea, sure, but it'll be hard to execute. I'll think about it before the next thread.

Don't worry - to the people who are thinking that you're locked into this squad just because of squad loyalty and shit, this is not true. You'll have options.

Current weapons that you've obtained - N/A. Flare did headbutt that guy, and she's in Red Pack for a reason. Also, just because she did good doesn't mean that the whole Pack did good, in the eyes of those watching...

That reminds me - I gotta catch up on my Gundam Build Fighters : Try episodes. I'm too busy watching AT:VOTOMS while playing Front Mission, though...

>Hmm... I like that idea, sure, but it'll be hard to execute. I'll think about it before the next thread.
To my memory, you got guide when you had lv.15 ranged and duel when you had lv.25 short range weapon skill.
honestly when you get to that point you get to select which point you get, but getting these are essential for both tactics and farming Exp.
Both of these also decrease the accuracy of said shot marginally. Not much, but is a miserable amount to cope with in the early game levels.
>>
>>39042843
Most of these are all applied when there's Computer Assistance and stuff.

In terms of in-game logic, the fact that you have no on-board AI to help you do anything -

FUCKING HELL, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE MONITORS. Flare is literally just looking out of a big window, when she's fighting!

So most of the stuff that she's pulled off is pretty badass. I just hope I'm not going Mary-Sue...
>>
>>39042866
Through in a bit of self-awareness and some vulnerability to keep it not snowflake. "So you have bright red hair and your name is flare?" "... yeah, sigh."
>>
>>39043012
I hope that I have that covered. I'll definitely try to give her a few bad traits to offset her good ones. She's already aloof, so I could tweak it a bit and make her absolutely antagonistic toward others...

"Don't fucking call me 'Flare'. You call me 'Cuvis', 'Ma'am', or 'Sir', Roy. Or do you want your new name to be 'maggot'?
>>
>>39042866
What about that heads up display?
Oh right, you flicked it away. Damn.
>>39042843
Also, too add on, you have like 20 missions in a campaign.
and you can get like 400~2000xp in the first mission. Later this becomes like 1200~8000xp total!
>>
>>39043033
I hope our low social stat doesn't give us SERVERE penalties while giving out orders. Then again, our hard-ass ness just whipped strangers into order just now, so uh...
uh.
>>
>>39043242
Being a hardass doesn't mean you have low social skills. It just means that you're gruff. Unapproachable? Maybe, but it didn't seem to stop your squad or your mechanic.

>>39043218
Well, let's not go crazy. If I ever implement it, the XP stuff will just be a static 0-100 bar. Do shit, fill up the bar. I'll be challenging you guys a bit more, since Flare's getting some good rolls and you guys are choosing certain aspects of her life.
>>
>>39043325
>Do shit, fill up the bar.
Well I know which skills I'm gonna upgrade.
...are shields a thing in the seetting? I mean, like 'shield' shields. Energy, plasma, whatever.
>>
>>39043387
If there's High Frequency blades, there may or may not be energy shields. At this point, the HF stuff is pushing it, though - it'll get too sci-fi, and pull away from my original hope for a gritty, junker-style mech quest.

No big deal, of course, if that's the way you all want to head toward.
>>
For those of you who really want to see, I've found approximate images of what I think the characters look like. Probably won't post them, but I've got some things to work with, at least.
>>
>>39043439
Fucking post them you cunt
>>
>>39043450
Maybe in the next thread. Posting images severely increases the chances of waifufaggotry. I would like to avoid that, so that you guys don't get biased toward a character or move away from plot just for a character...
>>
>>39043407
If you want a gritty, metal game like front mission and stuff, you should make sure shield tanking is very hard to achieve. Make shields quite weaker than natural armor, like 1:5~7ratio unless you get specialized chassis which has penalties.
Say, think ke the ogre mech from titanfall.
Or like it attatched to a shield priortizing on shielding over it's native armor.
>>
>>39043439
I should also note the fact that energy or plasma isn't the only useful material for shields. For example, I saw nanomachines as shields (although technically armor).
so go crazy!
>>
>>39043512
>>39043533
Not bad ideas, Anon. I'll definitely consider this, but I've already revealed that there are wanzers with big riot shields.
>>
>>39043555
>but I've already revealed that there are wanzers with big riot shields.
I know, but I meant like those hand held shields with the 'energy' shield tanking over it's native armor tanking.
>>
>>39043555
For pbalancing think like this.
shields are flimsy but regenerates.
armor is tough but hard to repair in a jiffy. Plus you risk being incapacitated from cirrical or strong hits.
>>
>>39043607
Oh, you mean overshields or armor shields. That'd be very taxing on a battery pack, to say nothing about how hard it would be just to pull off.
>>
>>39043625
I thought that was part of the appeal. While operating the Fyanna (name subject to change upon Anon request), Flare was able to down three to four mechs without even losing a hand. That said, a tougher mech like Nahn was disarmed in one salvo.

In short, the wanzers pack a punch, but unless they're designed around taking hits, they crumple like paper.
>>
>>39043647
>the wanzers pack a punch, but unless they're designed around taking hits, they crumple like paper.
Well duh, they're speed wanzers for a reason, right? They do evasion tanking, not armor.
>>39043626
I was thinking like this
-full body cover
-covers the front of your handheld/sholder shield
>>
>>39043690
I meant all of the base wanzers, even parts of the defense mechs.

That second part could work, but I'm still not all sold on it. Give me a few days to think about it.
>>
>>39043708
>even parts of the defense mechs.
Weak points?

Also about shields, ranged or speed are about the most likely to carry full-body. They should have mecs prioritizing power supply over armor, so they should have spare energy for full-body shields. Hell, shielded speed wanzers wiuld be perfect for hit and run assaults! Meanwhile, meaty tankers would have too small room for generators, only affording partial shielding (on sholders or hand held)or none at all, and get metal shields.

I must also regretfully inform you that my battery is incritical and can barely last a response or two.
