We are back with more cop and elf goodness!
Let me know when you arrive.

Last time, Cedric was attacked by PETA protestors and Ellie snapped, punching the daylights out of the attacker. The sergeant wants them to take two weeks off while things cool down in town.

******
On January 10, 2015, there were several bright flashes of light all over the northern hemisphere, all over the world.

This is a story of newcomers and how their lives and ours changed when we met. It is a story of culture shock, science and magic.

It is a story about pointy ears and badges, a story about a Newhope, a small city in rural america, and how it adapted to a sudden wave of immigrants coming from the most exotic of realms.

***** WARNING ****
On this thread, we will have mostly SoL (Slice of Life) d'aww times.
If you don't like sol and d'aawws, this is not the thread for you.

Hello, how are you doing? lets wait for some more people and then we'll start. IIRC Ellie and Cedric were going to go on forced vacations for 2 weejsm right?

Yeah something about beating 7 shades of shit out of a Peta protestor for pepper spraying Cedric.

alright, guess I will from now on, at least to see what happens.

But, about that, are we going to the beach, the mountains, or what? so I can type that

Weren't they going skiing? Find some nearby ski resort, book rooms for a week, and teach her alpine.

That works too. I keep forgetting it's winter.

This seems interesting, can anyone provide an archive link? Searching from my phone sucks.

Alright

***

"Alright, then I guess we'll go to the mountains for a bit" -says Cedric, and looks at Ellie

She nods. She hardly knows anything about this world, so anywhere is as good as anywhere else for her right now, after all.

"Alright, but since you are already here, I could use your help for the rest of the day" -says the sergeant
"Of course, sir"

Thus, Cedric and Ellie spent the rest of the day helping by cataloging files at the station. By the time they were done with it, Ellie was cramped and Cedric was sleepy.

"You kids done with that?" -says the sergeant as he pokes his head into the files room
"Yes. God sergeant, when was the last time anybody ordered these?" -Cedric says as he struggles to remain in the land of the conscious
"Never, really. But hey, you two really earned your vacations now, didn't you? good work"
"...jeez. Glad to be of use"

They leave in his truck. Many of the press wagons have left by now, and there are no helicopters anymore. Still, they are followed home and Cedric ends up unplugging the door bell and the phone to avoid their constant calling.

"All these people are really upsetting Stella" -says Ellie as she gently pets the puppy
"They're upsetting me, too" -says Cedric as he grabs the phoneguide and starts looking for skiing resorts.

Of course, on a cop's salary, he can't exactly book a 5 stars place, but he finds one that sounds nice, and since its mostly empty at this time of the year, he gets a fairly good price.

"I don't think we can take Stella with us. Should we ask your dad to take care of her?"
"Father loveslearning about this world's animals, so I think he'll be happy to"
"Alright, let's go over and... " -he looks out a window, and sees the media still outside- "...on second thought, he knows how to answer the phone, right?"
"Yes, I call him every night"
"I hadn't noticed"
"I do"
"Alright"

"Alright, we can leave Stella with father on our way out tomorrow" -says Ellie after hanging up the phone

Cedric nods, and goes over to the kitchen, then gets started on dinner.

"Since we'll be gone for a week, I'm going to prepare all the meat and whatever vegetables look like thwy can't wait a week, alright?"
"Sure" -Ellie has seen Cedric use the SNES enough times to load a game on her own now.

Stella struggles like a champ and gets on the couch so she can play with Ellie. It is an accomplisment for a puppy that small, but pets shouldn't be on the couch.

Well, we're going to be gone for a week, so we can indulge her a little, probably.

"Uhmm.."

While I love Skiing its kinda rushing to buy skis right off the bat without knowing if you'll like it or be able to ski that often.

Well I was worried about buying vs renting. Renting gets expensive pretty quickly

***

Cedric prepares some meat with vegetables and places it in the oven.

"Alright, that should take a little under an hour..."

Ellie looks back at him from the couch, and lifts Stella so the puppy can look at him over the couch's back too.

"Come play with us, then?" -she says, while Stella yips softly
"You don't need to ask" -he smiles and goes over to the couch, kissing Ellie and lowering Stella to the floor

The puppy loudly objects to this uneven treatment.

After dinner, tho, they give her a slice of meat large enough to weight the same as her heart, so she has nothing to complain about.

At some point after mignight, Elliezabella goes down for a glass of water, and spies on the camera crews outside. They seem to be determined to staying there for a while.

**She said**

(I wonder if we'll manage to slip by them tomorrow?)

She has some water, and goes back to bed, cuddling up with Cedric and going to rest against his side.

Thankfully(?) Cedric wakes her up at 5 so they can slip past the press, and they drive off to leave Stella at Ellie's father.

"Have you gone there before?" -she asks as they make it to the highway
"No, but the roadmap is pretty clear." -he says with confidence

Are there any good skiing spots nort of michigan?
>>

>Renting gets expensive pretty quickly
These sort of places usually lets you rent for the duration of your stay, and it only really gets expensive if you keep doing it instead of buying over several visits

>Are there any good skiing spots nort of michigan?
I dunno, just invent one
>>
>>38538330

They got two weeks, why restrict your self to Michican, farther would get them away from the press.

Mind you Elfs being what they are, to far and she'll stand out,
>>
>>38538330
Mount Bohemia is a good place been there like twice
>>
>>38538433
Alright, so they can stay within the state. I was planning on having some surprise pop up the first time Ellie tried to leave the state.

***

They drive towards Mt Bohemia and if you ever felt bored after driving for a few hours, that was because you never had to explain things to an otherworld tourist.

Ellie is practically bouncing on her seat when they arrive, and Cedric has to remind her to not run on the snow and ice.

For now, she's wearing a nice, warm wool hat in pink and red, so the tips of her ears are warm and comfy. This has the added benefit of not drawing as much attention.

Their room is fairly big, as expected of a smaller hotel out of season. It has a king size bed and a nice view of the mountain side. The bathroom is quite ample as well.

Wait, is this a honeymoon suite? well... there's no minibar, so maybe not?

"This place looks really pretty, but when do we play in the snow?" -she asks while lying down on the bed
"Lets unpack first, then we can do anything you want"
"And after that, we play in the snow?"
"Uhm? I said we could do anything you want"
"Yes, and after that, we play in the snow?" -she asks making bedroom eyes at him
"...alright"

>>
>>38538851
ah, thanks, I wasted so much time looking for that word with google. In the end I had to change the paragraph and just ask.

You know, one of those words that dont usually pop in everyday conversation.

*** He said ***

"...alright" -he moved to the bed to kiss her.

In the end, they spent their entire first evening and night in the room. Despite the large windows, the room was quite warm all night.

After a loving morning shower, they made it down to the guest center and signed up for skiiing instructions. He actually knows how to skii, but judged it better to have her learn from an actual teacher.

Thus, a few minutes later, they were having fun as they messed around the ski-lifter for the first time.

"Just let it pick you up. It's like those automatic stairs at the mall"
"I can tell, but I bet its easier when you are taller!"

Of course, for her first lessons, they just went down the beginner's slope that morning. Once she felt more confident, they started going down together, and finally went back to the hotel's lounge and then the restaurant.

As expected of the restaurant during off season, they were almost alone in the place.

1/?
>>
>>38539031

**She said**

Skiing is fun, but the beginner's slope can only offer so much excitement to an intelñogent person.

It does succeeds at making an apetite, however, and as they enjoy lunch, Ellie can't help but notice the waiter and staff looking at her as discreetly as possible.

"Cedric, I ... oh, I took off my hat"

In all the fun, she did indeed forget to keep her hat on, and now she was the center of attention.

It felt odd having people sneak peeks at her just because of her pointy ears. It felt rather uncomfortale, as well. After all, one's pointy ears are a rather personal area, for an elf.

"I wonder if this counts as racism..."

***

Well, since Ellie doesn't seem too bothered by it, and it is somewhat understandable, we let it go for now.

The meal is quite good. Ellie seems to enjoy the pepper meat, so maybe we'll try using it to cook when we go back home.

Later in the room, she makes a call to her father to check on him and Stella. She has fun talking to the pup over the phone... and well, she can talk to dogs, but for us it was just a cute scene of imagining the puppy barking at the phone because Ellie's voice was coming out of it.

...maybe we should feel sort of left out?

Probably not. We did take Ellie away for 2 weeks, after all. And as if to make sure, Cedric picks her up and takes her to the bed.

The next morning, during breakfast, it seems the hotel somehow has quite a few more guests. The restaurant is quite packed.

Well, Ellie is still drawing plenty of looks, albeit people is trying their hardest to be polite about it.

She does seem a little embarrased now.

"I don't really mind..."
"Thank you! can we talk right now."
"How about after lunch? unless you have a busy schedule"
"No... I guess we are free."
"Alright, see you after lunch, then"

On the ski-lift, they talk about it...

**She said**

"Didn't the sergeant sent us away to stay away from the press?" -Elliezabella
"If we antagonize them, the chances that they'll call "real" press grows by that much"
"Wouldn't they get upset if you said they are not real press, too?"
"That's why I won't"
"You just did"
"But not to them"
"I don't see the difference"
"Wait, really? so elves don't talk behind someone else's back? that is sort of amazing"
"We don't talk about people that are not there"

"Right."
"Why haven't we seen that yet?"
"I do not know, the sergeant may know?"
"Can you keep that quiet until the department brings it up?" -interrupts Cedric- "I mean, there may be reasons for it"

Well, since we were pretty nice to them, the students agree and will simply quote us on Ellie only reacting after Cedric was attacked.

That's pretty nice of them, really.

Well, it looks like Ellie is having fun telling them about her old world, and the kids look like they are enjoying this all as well.

Well, the kids are saddened by it (they wanted to be the cool kids with the elf friend), but they at least give Ellie their contact info.

Once they are gone, Elliezabella looks at Cedric with the most serious look she has given him yet, and says:

"What... where... uhmm... how do I use this?"

Well, right. Neither one of them has a smartphone, and Cedric is relatively computer illiterate as well so... well, he does not have a facebook account.

"You have a computer at your father's home"
"Father likes using it to learn about this world and its animals"
"Your dad really likes animals, doesn't he?"
"He's interested in hunting laws"
"Oh" -Cedric nods... well, he's a nomad, it makes sense, somehow

"Wait, but you are selling things online. I helped you do that"
"Yes, you helped, exactly. I don't know how to use one, I just nodded while you did it all"
"...I guess you are right."

He sighs and gives her a smooch, then they go down to the hotel's lounge and look into what other activities there are.
