The funny thing is, I never had any console until I was 33+ and then I got a gameboy advance from a friend. All my life ive only played on PCs, but I thought giving Cedric a computer was too modern for a square guy like him so I gave him a old SNES.

"How can you play while lying down like that?"

They play for a bit while Stella barks at Cedric's shoes.

"Why is it barking at my shoes?"
"Because they're eating your feet"

He takes off his shoes, and Stella charges at the shoes, dragging one off as best she can.

Thus Stella was admonished for the first time.

The following days go as normal. They go to a mall and get her a suit (with a skirt) in preparation for the interview. The assistant seemed happy to see the elf girl.

Well, a lot of girls -say- they are size 6 and then whine as if it was the clerk's fault when they have to end up buying a size 8. Guess it was nice to get an actual size 6 customer for a change.

They also drop by the underwear section, confusing Cedric as he sort of expected Ellie to do the "noble savage" thing and walk out of the dressing room wearing some cute underwear, mindless of people's eyes on her, yet instead she acted very sensibly and while she did ask him for his opinions, she dragged him into the dressing booth instead.

Well, if you ask Cedric whether he was dissapointed... he did make out with her inside the booth, so he would say no.

Modern clothes are fun. There's smooth, soft, stretchy and firm clothes, but there are no itchy and raspy ones, or at least none that go directly unto the skin.

There was the one sweater... that's the word, right? but Ellie still wasn't sure if she would wear such a thing, even if it did go over everything else.

Shoes are fun too. Most boots are comfortable to wear, and while she was more than dextrous enough to have no problems on heels, she was still not going to touch them with a 12 feet pole.

She got some shoes for her dad near the end, and found that she had just about spent 1/2 her monthly salary on clothes when she was at the cashier.

Well, its almost the end of the month already, so she'll probably be fine.

As they drive over to her dad's, it turns out he is busily reading, or trying to read, a book about... beekeeping? apparently, there are amazing insects in this world which produce a wonderful golden substance known as honey in exchange for being allowed to fly from flower to flower, and he wanted to try raising some inside his green house once the flowers start blooming.

Father liked the shoes. It goes without saying, but when you make shoes for a person for 3 or more decades, you get a clear mental image of their feet's size and shape.

Of course, this world's shoe industry seems to be quite developed. In fact, I wonder if hand made shoes would have a chance at all?

Would anyone want to buy hand made elven shoes?

Anyway, after visiting father, we went (to Cedric's) home and had fun in the coach for a couple of hours, then took a break and shared a shower before Cedric and I sat down to watch some movies.

By the way, we got what Cedric calls a "chewing toy" for Stella. I explained to her that Cedric wanted her to bite that whenever she wanted to bite at his shoes.

The television studio wasn't as big a place as movies lead me to believe.

The place we were using for the interview... Should I say it was as expected? it was a small "room" with only one wall and lots of cameras around it...

Cedric was standing outside of the camera's view while they recorded the interview. Hopefully it would help convince people that elven blood was not magical.

With Elliezabella were also some of the clinic staff, explaining how elven blood wasn't even compatible with human blood, so it would cause very serious problems to anyone receiving a transfusion.

The interview itself wasn't bad. The lady asking the questions was very nice and polite. The idea of gaining magic that way was strange to begin with, however.

"Would that be like wanting to grow wings by eating birds?" .asked Elliezabella at the doctor at one time.

The doctor laughed and said it would be exactly like that.

It was fairly cold once we left the studio, and Cedric wanted to try skating on the frozen lake. I wasn't quite sure of what that meant, or how we would do that in the night.

Was that a sex thing? but it turns out that skating its a game, and he wanted us to enjoy it together, so I nodded and we went home first so I could change before heading to the lake.

It was much brighter than I thought it would be this late at night. There were lots of cars with their lights facing the lake, and a small kiosk was renting bladed shoes.

Now, if you came from the world I came, you too would have thought these were weapons, so don't look at me that way!

But, when Cedric took my hand and slowly dragged me over the ice... it was pretty fun.

Well, it wasn't fun falling on my ass twice, but after that I was skating slowly next to him, and that was a lot of fun!

Yeah it's true, I basically consider myself to be environmentally damaged from living up here. Our summers aren't very hot so as a result I can't handle warm weather very well.

Vacation in a hot sunny place? Maybe once every few years at most, I'm rather comfortable in the cold. Only thing I hate is when it starts warming up again, all the snow turns into half-frozen slush which can easily cause a huge mess.

He gently picks up the puppy, places it on the enclosed kitchen area. Its not so much a kitchen room as just a counter going around, so he blocks the passage with a box out of the broom closet and goes back to Ellie in the couch.

"I meant, embarrassing me like that" -she says as she holds her blushing face with both hands
"Sorry" -he is clearly not sorry at all!

She gasps softly as he leans in to kiss at the side of her ear, knowing how it makes her jump every time.

The city its small enough there is no cop on permanent duty at the hospital, so they get the joy of going and dealing with this.

Sure enough, even the elves did not know that they were getting their animals back that day, but fucking PETA knew, somehow.

Now, this its a fucking pickle... PETA protesters are wielding megaphones, compressed air cans and sirens, signs, the whole 10 miles as the national guard vehicles bring in the elves' animals.

Now, the thing to remember is, some of these animals were used to hunt. These are not cuddly pets.

Well, the more dangerous ones were taken into the city zoo, so it'll probably be fine, right?

Cedric approaches one of the protesters, and politely asks... well, it doesn't really matters, because as soon as he approaches, the man flees into the crowd.

A bit puzzled, he tries talking to a young woman instead, but she starts shouting about police brutality.

Being a small city cop, Cedric is actually not really used to the bullshit professional attention whores and "millenials" get away with in the larger towns.

He simply ignores the young lady, and asks out loud if there is any representative here he can ask for a permit for this protest.

A few moments later, the young woman is still shouting at him while trying to get his attention about the patriarchy and how he's opressing her with his presence, when a middle aged woman comes out of the crowd with a document held high.

[Ah, that must be their permit] -he thinks

He never noticed she had both hands up, with one hidden behind the documents. As soon as she gets to him, she lowers the sheet of paper and gases him with some pepper spray to the face while the rest of the protesters howl and cheer.

So Cedric is coughing and bending over with disbelief when something behind him seems to snap and Elliezabella comes forth and immediately punches the woman in the left breast, enraged after seeing her attack Cedric.

Cedric is trying to see through his swollen eyelids and spot the woman while holding back Ellie.

"The good news is, your car's camera picked up the attack" -says the sergeant at the precint- "The bad news is, the big chain news are not showing that bit"
"Figures" -says Cedric
"Sorry" -says Ellie, softly
"It would probably have been more or less the same if you had tazed and arrested her" -says the sergeant- "But now we have the media camping outside the precinct"

The sergeant peeks out the window. There are about twelve news vans parked outside.

"You are going to have a tail for days. I think you should take the rest of the week off while this blows off. We'll just say you are off duty while we investigate."

"I know. Just... think of it as a week long vacation, go skii, or try the beach."
