You are Mylene, Sith Acolyte, new arrival on Korriban, Chiss, and in that awkward gap between infancy and adolescence.

You've just arrived at the girls' dorms in the Sith Academy, accompanied by fellow hopeful Moriana, and Assistant Overseer Zorrin. Home sweet home, a large, square, featureless grey room, populated primarily by metal bunks and footlockers. Definitely very cosy, you'd say, if you were feeling extremely sarcastic.

Zorrin wastes no time in showing you and Moriana to a pair of unoccupied bunks, and hands you each the keycard to the associated footlockers.

"You will find fresh robes and some everyday items in your lockers. If you've brought anything valuable to you, or acquire anything during your time here, well, that's where to keep it. Do you have any questions?"

"Nothing I can think of." you respond, unable to think of any pressing concerns you want to bring up with the Assistant Overseer for now. Besides, seeing as nobody's provided you with an itinerary for the day, you assume the rest of the afternoon is yours, and there are probably better things you can be doing with it. Moriana follows suit, just sort of shaking her head, in a predictable continuation of her trend of being entirely untalkative.

"Good. Your group has the remainder of the day with which to familiarise yourselves with the Academy premises and generally settle in. You will report to Overseer Galsenn in Room 23, Wing A, no later than 7 AM tomorrow. Understood?"

You nod silently, seems pretty clear enough.

So. A day to do whatever you like, on scenic Korriban no less. Besides locating room 23A for future reference, there aren't really any pressing matters to go attend to, so the afternoon is your own. For her part, Moriana's already transferring her meagre belongings to her locker. And that other human still seems to be asleep across the room from you both.

New place, full of people generally known for indiscriminate violence at best, not to mention a whole bunch of fellow acolytes that actually do have good reason to wish you harm? Yeah, sticking with the a friendly face seems the wisest choice, plus, not having to lug your stuff any further than you have already - not that you brought all that much, bit more than Moriana, but not much. So you decide to stick around.

You drop your bag on the bed, which makes a particularly not-soft sound. You sit down, which is accompanied by a particularly not-soft feeling, too. Might take some getting used to. You then proceed to stand right the heck back up from that uncomfortable slab and start putting your stuff away. Spare clothes and undergarments, a few personal effects, a stuffed astromech you'd rather prefer not to be seen by everybody.

Moriana occasionally looks over at you when she thinks you're not looking, but otherwise doesn't make any attempt to interact.

Well, the last attempt at conversation with Moriana didn't go so well, maybe if you just talk about something less personal she'll be more willing to open up. But what do you even say?

"So... excited?"

Moriana looks up, she'd been looking at her new wardrobe, plain black robes, like the ones in your locker. Exciting stuff. "Uh..." she looks thoughtful for a moment. "Yeah, it's a new start, get to learn new stuff, make something of myself, you know?"

Well that's a start, she's actually giving meaningful responses now.

So far so good, keep it casual, cosy up a bit more, make yourself an ally. Well, that's the plan at least.

"So, what do you do for fun?"

The human girl pauses a moment as she pulls on a new robe over her head (and other clothes, apparently), before responding. "I didn't get a whole lot of free time, but I guess I liked to tell stories with... uh, with my friends. I liked to explore, too, when I got the chance, I guess."

And that's the part where a normal person probably would've asked a question in response, like 'what about you?', but there you have it. There's an awkward silence for a moment. Then the telltale sounds of movement from the room's other occupant.

As she stands, you quickly become aware that she's, well... imposing, to say the least. Granted you're still a child, but she's tall even by adult human standards. Long blonde hair, which she's in the process of putting up into a ponytail, and a horrific patch of scarring - you're not quite sure if it's burns, lacerations, or both - along the left side of her jaw, continuing underneath some visible cybernetic reconstruction at the hinge. She catches your gaze, shrugs, and carries on as if you weren't staring.

A few more awkward seconds pass as the other acolyte affixes a rebreather to her mouth, pulls on a robe over her underclothes, and leaves the room.

Well... you and Moriana are both done here, by the looks of things.

"Uh, I was going to go look around the grounds. Do you want to join me?"

Huh, well that's a surprise, Moriana asking you the questions now. Not unwelcome though, perhaps you're getting through to her?

Getting a feel for the layout of the academy building seems like a good plan, and some more time buddying up to a potential ally can't hurt either, right? "Sure, friends should stick together right?"

That gives the girl pause, but that's hardly uncharacteristic for her after all. She tends to get quiet and think for a moment before responding to just about anything you say. "Friends?"

Well if that isn't the most adorable thing you ever did hear. "Yes, we can be friends, right?"

"Yeah, I'd like that."

Did you retconn the age because
>In addition, they experienced a greatly accelerated growth rate compared to Humans, which contributed to their reaching maturity faster than Humans. Thus a Chiss at the age of 10-years held the physical maturity of a 20-year old Human. This in turn resulted in a culturally-imprinted emotional maturity that was many times above that of their Human counterparts.[8]
I mean, this'll be a little weird, right?
>>
>>36336398
"I think we should look around indoors first," you suggest before heading off, "Wouldn't be good if we forgot to find 23A and were late tomorrow morning, would it?"

"Good call." Moriana agrees. "You should probably wear a robe as well, wouldn't want anyone thinking we don't belong."

Sounds like sound advice. You quickly retrieve one of the voluminous black garments from your own locker and put it on over your casual clothes. It's cold enough about that you won't be too uncomfortable anyway.

"So, shall we?"

Moriana nods, gesturing towards the door for you to lead, quickly enough that it seems less a courtesy and more a reflex. Huh. Regardless, you head on out into the corridors, retracing your earlier steps back to the central section of the building with the staircase. The two of you make your way down to the ground floor, working on what you assume to be the logic of working your way back upwards to the dorms as you go.

Back in the central room on ground level, you can't help but marvel at the hall's centrepiece, an enormous, monolithic stone monument set in the inside of the stairway's spiral. Frog-marched as you were on the way in, there wasn't much time to admire it. It's quite beautiful, in a sort of stark, ancient relic sort of way. Near-black stone, lit in red light, with four faces flattened and carved in the old script of the Sith, you wonder if it perhaps even predates the coming of the Dark Jedi to Korriban.

The fascination is broken briefly as you spy Zakk and Kagg making their way down the corridor to the entrance, and the Valley outside beyond it.

>>
>>36336826

>[X] Let them go, carry on with Moriana

Later down the line, once we cement our alliances, we can interact with them. By which I mean, get them to hate each other in their continuing spiral of competition. In doing so, their hatred empowers them and you create a little feedback loop where you have a button labeled "insecurity" to manipulate them with, keep ourselves out of the line of fire from our peers by letting them hate-boner their way into power, and keep the teachers impressed because this simultaneously makes them unsuited to leadership.
>>
>>36336811
And again I demonstrate my inability to skim accurately by having thought that was mental maturity. Mostly because it also mentions rapid adolescence from 11-12, my bad. Anyway disregard the previous line about being the smallest one there. Looks like we're a big child.

I don't see how it's really going to heavily affect the story unless we keep bringing it to the foray.
I mean, you could happily take two different humans of the same age and find they have very different levels of maturity. That said, a sudden growth spurt could be an interesting plot twist and also my magical realm
>>
>>36337040

What's wrong with that? We'd create a two-layer meatshield, gain two puppets and maintain the respect of the only people whose respect matters. There's little downside to the approach, which you could consider that they'd be powerful enough to take up that number one and number two spot in the first place. But this is easily mitigated by being more calculating, neither of them seems to have the attitude or aptitude for planning or strategics. We could easily dispose of them in that way if we'd feel they'd have outlived their usefulness.
>>
>>36337024
We could be mixed race with Chiss being clearly dominant
>>
>>36337094
The problem seems to be that apparently a Chiss of Mylene's age is supposed to be the size of a 20 year old human. Which is bothersome, I really misinterpreted the problem from before, having thought it meant we had the mental maturity and had a rapid growth spurt in the next two years. But I don't want to retcon a whole load of stuff, so I'm going to run with what we have, inb4 Zeltronfags claim we're "not even a chiss any more". We'll have a physical growth spurt in the coming years, and carry on being as adult-minded as we already have been. Anyway, time to write, looks like we're yelling at the twins.
>>
>>36337126
>We could easily dispose of them in that way if we'd feel they'd have outlived their usefulness.

Two's company, but four's one more than a crowd, according to the old adage. Time to round up the posse, well, sans the other two aliens.

"Hey, Zakk, Kagg, where're you going?"

The pair turn about in unison, taking a couple of steps back towards you and Moriana, then looking to each other briefly.

"Going to the practice field outside, Zakk can't deal with me beating him at riddles." replies Kagg, and despite the distance, you can quite easily hear that he's smiling as he speaks.

"I'm going to show him that wasting your time on word games won't help him in a real fight!" Zakk quickly counters.

"You girls are welcome to watch me beat him if you want, can't hurt to have witnesses!"

What a shocking surprise, they're off to go beat each other with training sabers. Seems you did an excellent job of riling them up, they're already poised for an endless back-and-forth of one-upmanship, given the right incentive you might just be able to make them focus on each other and not on you indefinitely. That said, you'd hate to see their firey spirits dampened by getting chewed out for being late on their first day.

"Don't you think you should come find the classroom we need for tomorrow before you go settling scores?"

Neither says anything for a while, until eventually Kagg concedes "She's got a point, Zakk."

"How convenient." the other twin responds with unmistakable scorn.

"Didn't think you were so eager for me to wreck you, can't even wait until after we get our bearings?"

Zakk grabs Kagg by the forearm. "We're doing this now."

Kagg yanks his arm away, glares at his brother. "Get a grip, you want to get us both thrown out because we can't find a stupid room?"

Well. As much as the Sith promote using anger and hate for strength, you're reasonably sure letting them get the better of you isn't what they have in mind, and that's definitely what Zakk's doing now. He meets Kagg's glare, squares up to him, and, with a roar, takes a swing, a pretty excellent right hook into his twin's jaw, if you do say so yourself.

Well, sparring you could get behind, a bit of wholesome violence that everyone can benefit from, but a sudden fistfight in the halls doesn't help anybody. Just hurt faces, hurt feelings and getting into a lot of trouble, potentially.

"Hey, quit it!" you yell, as Kagg's still recoiling from the blow, bringing a hand up to gingerly rub his face. Neither of them seems to want to listen, as they soon thereafter put up their fists ready to properly duke it out.

"Hey! Do you want to get yourselves thrown out, or worse? Then you'll never get to settle this!"

That seems to get through to Zakk briefly, and he hesitates... only to let Kagg land a vicious sucker-punch to his brother's solar-plexus, dropping him to his knees.

"Get up, we're going to find that classroom."

Zakk looks up at Kagg. Even from this distance you can tell it's a look of absolute hatred and disgust. But, somehow, he contains himself and doesn't force the fight any further. Without breaking his death gaze save to blink, he eventually says something too quietly for you or Moriana to hear, then Kagg starts to walk back towards you, humbled twin brother in tow.

"We'll come with you to find the room, then we finish what we started here. You two are still welcome to come and observe. So, lead the way."

You oblige, letting the twins fall into step behind you and Moriana bring up he rear. Little do they know you're just guessing which direction to go. About halfway down the first major corridor - heading towards the room you met the two Assistant Overseers in, assuming it might be nearby - Zakk moves in closer to you, not-quite-whispering "I had him, if you hadn't distracted me..."

"Then what would have happened? You would have been singled out as the one boy at the academy everyone would have wanted to kill, why? Because you're the son of a dark lord, and you've proved yourself to be competent. Do you know what that means? That means anyone who killed you would have been better, making them a greater sith."
"There is a time to show your power and strength, and in that time your anger and hatred must be used as a scalpel, not a hammer. If you do that, then it will be clear who the superior brother is."

You fall back a pace, walking abreast with the human boy, makes talking a little easier. "Maybe, but you show your hand this early, it just makes you a target... You'll get your chance, and when you beat him, make sure it's as public, humiliating and devastating as possible, so he never has the capacity to take revenge."

Good paraphrasing there. You're quite sure an old war scholar, maybe even a Sith Lord as well, once advised something along the lines of never injuring a person unless you mean to injure them so badly they cannot return the favour. Zakk, for his part, snarls, scowls, but doesn't actually dispute you. He may be hotheaded, but he can grasp logic when it's spoonfed to him.

There's a tense silence among you for the next few seconds as your group walks the halls, and you're beginning to suspect that Kagg overheard your advice when Moriana points out a small sign set into the wall identifying the area as Wing A. Further inspection finds a nearby door labelled 15. Can't be far from 23, then. Finding 16 on one side confirms which direction you need to go, and following that very quickly leads you to 23. The room inside looks like yet another average classroom, desks and chairs affair, kind of anticlimactic after all that.

Kagg is the first to speak, blatantly proud of his earlier victory and eager to test his mettle against Zakk once again. "Well then, this won't be hard to find again. You two want to watch us duel, or..?"

---
Well, the choice to watch the fight or keep on exploring will be up to y'all in the next OP, until then, do feel free to build consensus on Mylene's future appearance and what she brought with her, too. I reserve the right to veto things like poison and whatnot, nothing outside the reasonable realm of clothes, accessories and personal effects.

It's been a blast as always, love you guys.

Well, before I turn in for the night, I'll toss my vote in for an average or tall height with no specific preference on anything else.

Good night, fellas. Thanks for running, QM.

I'd prefer to be a generally short Chiss, maybe with an hourglass frame. Waist/shoulder length hair. Not sure about what Chiss hair color can be though, so I'm going to say black.

I support this. If we think friendship is going to get us through the Sith Academy, we're deluded. Manipulation and control. We're making a good start by claiming to be "friends" with people.

Also there's a prohibition on murder, no one said anything about restricting mutilation however. Rivals we can't control should have their hands severed.
>>
>>36347869
Also voting for average height, athletic build
>>
>>36347934
Given we're Sith athletic is probably going to be given, never make it out of academy otherwise.
>>
>>36347944
Have you seen some of the Sith around the galaxy? Bunch of fat lardasses.

Especially in TOR, for some reason half of the galaxies population is morbidly obese
>>
>>36347953
Modeled after the people who play them or just for the lulz, Realistically(for Star wars anyways) You'd need to be fit to light saber duel. Otherwise it'd be piss easy to get run through or shot.
>>
>>36347981
Or you could just go lie on a couch Jaba style and eat grapes while you throw the saber around with the force

Quests have a unique post counter. We've been getting "Seconded!" posts about the shortstack thing since the QM opened discussion on the subject without it increasing despite many more votes appearing than previous votes.

Ergo; we have one very persistent samefag trying to push shortstack.
>>
>>36351775
I wish we had the poster identification stuff some of the other forums have. A unique code for each poster in a thread will put the samefags in their place
>>
>>36352132
not really, you can switch IP's in less than a minute and beat the 1 minute cooldown pretty easily

only way to truely beat samefags is for everyone to remain cool, calm and civil, after all we're all here for fun
>>
>>36352181
Well it's also about making the samefagging more difficult. Sure you'll have some autistic sorts that will push past the barrier to ensure they get their waifus, but it's the more impediments there are, the less inclined they'll be to use the workaround.
>>
>>36352181

No, he means that there are image boards that assign Poster Identity codes to people based on your computer ID, which is in turn based on the number of parts in your computer. A samefag would have to post, turn off their computer, swap out hardware, turn it back on, and post again to get a different poster ID value. Proxies or IPs don't work for it and even if you beat 4chan's existing samefag detection system, you wouldn't beat the poster ID.
>>
>>36352268
>based on your computer ID, which is in turn based on the number of parts in your computer.
That's not how poster ID tags work at all...
>>
>>36352302

Oh, my bad. I've been misinformed, then.
>>
>>36352315
Yeah that kind of info, mac address stuff and internal localised network and part configuration codes and such, 4chan cannot access without a rootkit or serious malware on your system.

It's still very inconvenient to get around, and significantly harder than what measures are currently in place, but its not impossible and if you know what you're doing its fairly simple to set up something so you just click a button and wait half a minute and you've got a new ID. Though I don't imagine most samefags would go to the effort required
>>
>>36351775
>Quests have a unique post counter. We've been getting "Seconded!" posts about the shortstack thing since the QM opened discussion on the subject without it increasing despite many more votes appearing than previous votes.
But that's fucking wrong.
There's 35 unique IPs in this thread
>>
>>36355393

Yes. And like I said, they haven't increased since the "second!" posts started showing up. Compared to earlier votes, where we didn't have nearly this much voting or deliberating going on, that still presents a pretty significant mismatch. As such, it's not a big stretch to assume the samefag's resetting his IP like a motherfucker to try and fool the unique poster count without realizing that 35 unique posters in a thread that gets not nearly that amount of votes per decision is kind of glaringly fucking suspicious.
>>
>>36355393
Over its lifetime yes, but actively voting at the end of the thread after the last update? No, especially when most say thanks, maybe a bit of discussion and then close the thread.

It's pretty clearly samefagged.

How is this thread still alive?
But yeah the sheer volume of dubious seconding for shortstack waifu is pretty much the main thing making me not want to do it.
That, and that it isn't my preferred waifu style.
>>
>>36355765
Star wars is big in tg I guess, like I said your roll it up within reason and go from there.
>>
>>36355765
>That, and that it isn't my preferred waifu style.
Based OP, tall wimminz best wimminz
>>
>>36355765

Bumping magic.

That said, you've got the executive decision. You're the QM. Worst possibility is that you alienate the other guy that genuinely wanted shortstack or so, best one is that the samefag is disgusted with the "majority" not winning and bailing on the quest.
>>
>>36355765
Should've just went with mixed race, then we could've still been kinda-Chiss but developed normally
>>
>>36356772

We already settled that earlier in the thread. Chill. Just don't pay attention to it and it'll fix itself when it becomes relevant.
>>
>>36356856
It'll only fix itself if we're going to be out the acadamy quickly, otherwise we'll be basically a 20 year old woman dominating small children
>>
>>36357225

Or through the magic of don't-look-at-the-age-number, we're as old as OP needs us to be for the sake of the plot. You know, the age being constructed out of handwavium.
