You leave the regional headquarters in a rush, already behind schedule for the most important meeting of your lifetime. All of you hard work, all of your biding, it has all surmounted to this very moment: and you're running behind schedule. Vice Presidents try to interrupt you to sign off on this or that, and you pay them no heed. Not today. You NEED to get to the company's chopper, and there is nothing that will stop you. You've waited far too long for his moment.

The elevator ride to to the stop of the headquarters's goes smoothly, since you managed to push every other person in the elevator out in one sweep. Ding. Here you are, the top story of your building. The chopper is, luckily, ahead of schedule, and is just finishing the final inspection before take-off.

The gruff looking pilot, maybe only two years shy of retirement, call out to you, "Sir! Everything is ready to go; final inspections are complete. At your word, we head for Japan."

"Yes, let's." You reply to the pilot.

As you board the chopper, you hear the pilot begin his final takeoff preparations. With only him left to service all private flights for your company, he seems a bit stressed. Strange mumblings concerning his upcoming retirement, and how he'll be damned if getting thrown out of a chopper is going to stop him from collecting his FULL retirement check. The pilot gives you the thumbs-up, and you return in kind.

While he may be old, and a bit tired of the job, he's a true professional in the end. The chopper lifts off the ground effortlessly, and begins to glide East... well, technically West.

"It's heading for Japan, dammit!" The pilot screams. Looks like you were speaking aloud again... you've got to watch that. He mumbles something about just another 434 days to go.

The only thing to really do now is sit back, and try to relax for what's ahead. Then again, you need to make sure you look your best... this promotion means you'll be in charge of a lot of people, and you will be meeting most of the directors and major investors for the first time today.

You decide to check your eyes for any signs of fatigue.

Wilson's disease. Most would be concerned about having a literal ring of copper form in your eye, but you relish in delight that you have this affliction. It's always given you an excuse to let your eyes wander playfully even in the most dire of conversations. Whenever someone has called you out on it, you only need to stare into there eyes for a few seconds before they excuse themselves, and find any excuse to avert there eyes from yours.

You then hold the mirror out to your hair, to make sure it is in a kept condition.

Inspecting your hair a bit more closely, you notice several splits and a single cowlick that you had under control when you left the executive bathroom just a few hours ago. You quickly pull out a steel-toothed comb, and try to comb it down with what little saliva you can muster. Although you have the cowlick under control, the front section of your hair has raised in rebellion.

Looking at yourself in the mirror, you can't help but notice how similar you are to your father. Or at least the one photo you have of him. You reach into your suit, and pull out the one happy memory of your childhood. You sitting with your mother and father in a field... you couldn't have been over two years of age. They both look so... worry-free and happy! If only it could have ended on as sweet a note as that between the three of you.

You pull yourself our of your reverie, and refocus on the task at hand. You hold the mirror out arms-length, and looks over your suit.

Good thing you had your assistant give you some styling tips while you were dressing this morning. Your alternate suits might be a bit too flashy for a first introduction to the board. She's been with the company since your mother became President, so it was natural to trust her judgement. She's also dealt with everyone on the board, and even some of the investors, for years in your mother's stead when she was too preoccupied, or simply uninterested, in dealing with the business.

Even so, you can't help but feel that this is just to make a good first impression, and that your beloved yellow suit is calling to you even now.

With your inspection complete, you ask the pilot how much longer til we touch down. He screams at the top of his lungs, "We just left! My God, candy-ass, calm down, sit tight, and DON'T interrupt me. Go back to fluffing yourself or whatever you were doing...", unabashedly not hiding his displeasure of flying you halfway across the world in one sitting. Even during all that yelling, he didn't lose focus of the chopper's instruments for even a second. What a professional.

You decide that you better take this chance to catch up on your sleep. Even with the heavy whirling of the copter's blades, after a few minutes you feel yourself completely at ease. Your mind starts to wander...

The past few months have been... hectic, to say the least. As Regional VP of NA, you guess you should have known what was coming. And as the gifted son of the President of that same company, you did know what was coming. Luckily, the only person who could claim that you were aware the whole time is dead, and the only other one to know of "Earth's Hemorrhage" is completely loyal to you. You have always been a man of great intelligence, and great business sense. Of all of the subsidiaries that were shut down, liquidated, consolidated; YOURS was the only one to stay in the black the entire time, and keep the company as a whole afloat.

YOU've done so well, the members of the board are willing to overlook your mother's... rather unspeakable indiscretions, and give you a promotion... it also doesn't help that your mother's final will and testament named you as her sole successor.

While the Japanese unit is still bleeding, the legacy of the... no YOUR corporation, is still in Japan. It's high time you at least visit REVOC's HQ. You've been kept in your cage far too long...

Writing. I'll try to keep away from EVA-esque choices.
>>
Your cage... was both literal and figurative. Your mother, having gained custody of you after your parent's separation, kept you in a literal cage for most of your childhood and even your adolescence. You were spared no visitors after you turned 8, and were completely isolated during your teenage years, except for daily training.

As the future leader of your family, you were prepared to take that role. French, English, German, Japanese... you know most of those languages that are spoken in the fashion world. You were exercised daily, usually against your will on a treadmill situated in middle of your cage. Sometimes people watched... sometimes they adjusted you in accordance with a new mandate or new results. Your scars could only have been matched by your mother, and her mother, and her father...

Maybe a cell is more appropriate? You did have all of the business and fabric literature that existed at your disposal, and it was all stationed on neat bookshelves in your room. Your bed was comfortable. The door didn't even have a lock on it.

No, it was a cage. You were kept there out of fear, maybe even jealously on her part. Likely, it was just a matter of pride. You were better than her, and she knew it; but there you were, in a lock-less prison. Kept there as a constant reminder that she has won, and that he had lost. You were just her prize stuffed bear. Always doing as you were told, always going with the flow... but you were kept there against your will. In the sixteen years she held you, even if she had slipped once, you would have pounced, and taken your rightful spot.

She knew she couldn't hurt you, but she made it very clear that she didn't need to hurt you in order to ruin you completely. She held all the cards... held. Now she's dead. And now you have a choice.

What is it to be human?

To live no matter the cost? No, every man has his limit, and you know you've hit yours and gone past it many times before. Being completely isolated for months, if not years at a time can destroy anyone. It has made you calm, collected, and focused; but it has also worn on your opinion of people in general. It's also made you prone to simply accept circumstances as they lay. While you aren't completely apathetic and can put on a good persona in front of people, when pushed to the edge, you can admit that which others can't: the complete absurdity of life.

Just one year ago, you were in your prison, looking at spending all of your days reading, running, and training. The only fun you had was sword-practice with your rapier. And your axe. And you mace. A flail, a glock, a nugget, some Molotovs, even a pipe bomb or two. When you talked about the finer points of cloth selection in creating a Molotov cocktail, you knew that it wasn't exactly, how do people say, conversation worthy?

I hope she didn't turn out like you.

To destroy anyone who inconveniences you? For what purpose? You and your mother, admittingly, think (THOUGHT) very similarly. Ruthlessness just isn't in your nature. Maybe it's because you've been on the receiving end for so long? Maybe it's because you didn't sell your soul to the devil? But, what you know is, violence doesn't get anyone, anywhere in the end. It's a tool for those who couldn't plan ahead, and a tool of those who are gripped with fear. Like your mother.

You knew the moment she died, because the universe suddenly felt a little more... in-balance? You've always been able to sense what is going on around you on a large scale, and what is going on before you with exact precision. None can lie to you, but in turn, you can't lie to them.

No, to be human is to err. To be human, is to fuck up. But to be human, is also to evolve. And that you certainly have. The question is: how has she done all these years?

You wake up to see the sun rising. It's not the first sunrise you've seen, but it's beautiful nonetheless. Rising over the landmass before you, towering over everything in its sight, like a God amongst men. The chopper begins to descend, and you hear the blades grind to a halt. The pilot let's out a dramatic yawn, and immediately falls asleep on the console. So much for being a professional.

Search for the assistant it is. Writing.
>>
You exit the helicopter well-rested, and ready to face the board. Half expecting your assistant to be here by now, waiting to greet you and lead you to the meeting hall, you are deeply concerned that she is nowhere in sight. Seems the city is still recovering, and the main communication towers are still down as far as cell service goes. Sighing to yourself, you check your wristwatch. It read 12:45 AM.

In your rush, it seems you forgot to adjust your watch to the local time in Japan. Dammit, why isn't your assistant here? You really need to find her, and fast. No telling how late you could be. Shouldn't be that hard, should it?

>And they are fickle.

You rush down a few flights of stairs, stopping on the twelfth floor. A bit fatigued at this point, but confident that someone will be on this level, you open the door to find... nothing. Again. In fact it looks less populated than the other floor, without any kind of furniture to be seen. Just wide open space, and fully blinded windows.

Some light flickers through the blinds, but not much. You try to flip the light switch to brighten up the floor. And again, nothing. You can see a door at the end of the hall, but something seems... off. It's hard to put the feeling to words. Aprehension? You feel as if you remember this room, and you even remember the feeling it's associated with: fear. Fear of what? Of whom? You can't be certain unless you take a closer look.

------------------

What's the worst that can happen? Death? You honestly wouldn't mind it so much at this point. Death would be an inconvenience, but it would save you from a lot of work.

You begin to walk over to the door. The closer you get the more the mood darkens in the abandoned office space. The blank walls start to cave towards you, and the blinds block most of the light coming into the office. Darker and darker. The closer you get to the door, the more uneasy you feel. Nauseated beyond anything you've felt before, you begin to feel physical pain. Starting in your brain, it quickly spreads like a virulent disease from head to toe. You begin to feel a presence you haven't felt in years. It has to be her. You know it's her. You must endure this pain for her sake. You're the one who caused it, after all. And this is just the beginning of your repentance.

You're halfway there now, and you can hear her. She's calling your name.

A young girl's voice calls out to you, "Hinode."

Her voice is so soothing. Even though you can hear the slightest bit of despair in it, there is no hiding the happiness welling within to hear that voice again. God, how many years has it been since she's spoken to you? How many years has it been since you've seen that smiling face?

You continue forward, step by step, each time inching closer to the door, and each time increasing the strain upon your body to continue. Your muscles ache. Your head pounds, and every instinct inside of you screams to turn away. But you know she is in there.

You are only a meter away from the door now, and your body feels like stone. Unwilling to take another step forward. Seriously questioning your decision, you begin to buckle over from the pain taking over your body. Old scars swell. Scars that have lain dormant since your adolescence.

"Hinode. Please, help me."

And your brittle body continues to move forward. It isn't willpower at this point that moves you, it's obsession. The same obsession that killed your mother, is now beginning to kill you. Your jaw clenches as if you had tetanus. Your bones feel as if they are being squeezed and pressured to the point of snapping as you walk, no struggle forward.

"Hinode. Didn't you promise to protect me? DIDN'T YOU PROMISE NOT TO LIE TO ME?"

You apologize again and again in your mind, promising to never let this happen again. You are longer in control of yourself, you are acting simply on obsession. An obsession to correct what you allowed to happen.

"But do you have the strength to make it right? The presence of mind?"

You meekly reach towards the doorknob of the office. With the last bit of your strength, you manage to turn the knob, and give a slight push to the door. You do. You made a promise, and you intend to do whatever necessary to not just atone for it, but to wholly correct it.

An oval office unveils before you. A single desk remain, in the center of the room.

>An oval office unveils before you. A single desk remain, in the center of the room.
mr. president
>>
>>31588853
You can barely tilt your head high enough from the ground to look at the top of the desk. For a brief moment, you can see her, swinging her legs carelessly in front of her, just as she did in your cell. Before she took her away. And there she is, smiling, just as you taught her to. Those bright blue eyes. It's almost as if they smile as well. You blink, and she's gone. The smile is gone. The happy humming tune. Gone. That starry night, a year ago, when man fell again from the heavens. When she didn't fall with them.

You've never had much to lose in this life. You've already lost your parents. But as long as you're alive, you swear that you won't lose a single sibling. Even if you have to reach into the bowels of Hell to retrieve one of them.

"Nui, Satsuki." you mumble to yourself, slowly losing consciousness from the stress you've exerted on your body. "Whatever that woman did to you, I will bear it all. The blood on your hands, it is mine alone. You don't have to worry about a thing... not death... not life. I'll take care of it all."

I'll be around for awhile for any questions, and for any criticism. I'll probably make another thread Monday. I'll name it more appropriately this time as well.
>>
>>31589067
Consider me thoroughly confused. Just what is our character's relation to Nui and Satsuki, and everyone else?
>>
>>31589083
That is first up for next thread. Wanted to leave on a cliffhanger.

>>
>>31589045
will we wear the piss yellow suit, and look like some shitty knockoff of the Doctor in doing so?
>>
>>31589132
Yes. It's our favorite suit.
>>
>>31589045
Are we, as our training and saying "Your were better than her, and she knew it" indicates, a master fucking swordsman?
>>
>>31589184
In short, we're better than her in a lot of things. Swordsmanship? Yes. Business? Yes, sir.
>>
>>31589218
Competence? I hope.
>>
>>31589218
>better swordsman than her
So, we're better than either Ryuko OR Satsuki!
Jesus christ we're good
>>
>>31589285
You don't spend 10 years in almost complete solitude with only weapons and books to entertain, and come out jobbing.
>>
>>31589218
Does that mean we're better than Ryuko and/or Satsuki by far, since Ragyo was better than either of them?
>>
>>31589328
In their current state, yes. We are in fact better. Far better. Next thread, there will be a display of our talents.
>>
>>31589353
>In their current state
U wot
>>
>>31589402
No Kamuis, remember?
>>
>>31589402
I guess since Life fibers r dead ryuko and satsuki are on par pretty much. And we're better than satsuki so we're better than ryuko
>>
>>31589353
Okay, hold up: suppose they got Kamuis again, somehow: would we be able to hold our own against either of them and like, pull some Dark Souls shit or whatever?
>>
>>31589402
It's a few months into the future of where the show left off. Most people imagine both of them powered by Kamuis. At this point, neither of them have that power. They aren't pushovers, but they aren't fencing champions either.
>>
>>31589418
Yeah, but as far as the show is concerned, Ryuuko is still a hybrid, unless that's different here.
>>
>>31589442
>and like, pull some Dark Souls shit or whatever?
the fuck does that even mean
>>
>>31589067

Will we be encountering Life Fibers?
>>
Also, archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31583681/

>>31589455
Nope, still the same. Her hybrid status is the same as where it was left. But, since she hasn't been almost killed in nearly six months, it's mostly gone back to its dormant state.
>>
>>31589493
Makes sense, I guess.
>>
>>31589477
As far as we know, they are extinct. We did witness the big human star shower, and watch as they all burned in the sky.
