>Stay tuned for Claymore Attack On Parasite Pokemon Hunterformars!
April 1st was yesterday
>>
You fend of a terrible monster masquerading as a chokepoint of bramble bushes, pushing into a clearing not far from the coastline as you can hear the slow monotonous tides of the sea so near.

You see Marine lying amidst the cleared brambles, still and listless. For a moment you fear for the worst, you think her dead as you scramble up to her, discarding all else as you slide in beside her, kneeling upon the loamy jungle's soil.

Beside her, you bring an ear down to listen for a heartbeat, for breathing. You can feel it through her shell. You found your friend. You found your friend and she's alive. Feeling your eyes sting at the near-loss, you push back your tears with a flick of your second eyelids.

Now's not the time. You need to get her back to the Kahkori, back to Karkiko Village.

Looking back to your reluctant guide, Kurojo, the Kahkori adolescent stumbles upon his feet, breathing a shudder from the poisons clearing out from his veins. The same that had been within you.

Yet as you rejoice amongst this hidden grove, the two of you see a shadow dart at the edge of your vision, the two of you locking your eyes on another presence...

With his lightning-yellow breast and azure crest, there stands a Kahkori, presiding over the entrance to the path, his eyes staring forward with an almost mystical glow.

“Mukon?!” You gasp, jaw dropping as you realize who it is. You don't forget the look of the one that spent hours correcting your already practiced movements.

“Sheru.” He nods to you, with a significantly more mature voice. He looks to Kurojo and nods the same.
>>
He chatters a bit with the other bird before bringing you into the conversation. You take the chance to give Marine paralysis-heal and antidote to flush her system.
Despite Marine's fluffy red tail, her unprotected back, neck, and face have been nicked several times over by those thorny monsters from before. At least she's safe now.

“Sheru,” Kurojo bawks at you and points at the girl lying before you,”Mahreene?”

He seems a bit confused. “Yeah, this is Marine. We're friends...” You hold one of her hands, feeling them start to move a bit.

“Mahreene.” Mukon gruffs moving his beak around before scratching at his tusks.

They seem to find something odd, but don't have the words to say exactly what. You aren't quite sure what they want to say as they stand there puzzled for a moment.

Always does that to me after OP.
>>
>>31228355
>Is something wrong with my friend?
>Do you find anything strange about where we found her?

Because it'd totally be just like the Nar-kage to set up Marine as bait.
>>
>>31228355
"Are you wondering why I don't look like her?"
>>
>>31228344

Yeah, these are some likely answers for their confusion. The last one especially, since it's the most immediate reasons why they would be confused.

"We were in training together, and were assigned together for this mission."
hey guys, what about the other rangers we were with? think they might be around?
>>
>>31228507
Marine is the only one we saw who got washed away with us.
>>
>>31228395
We might have to explain what humans normally look like, as well as describe how rangers are made.

...I really hope these guys eat meat.
>>
>>31228562
They don't, IIRC

But they know that monsters exist, so it shouldn't be too bad.
>>
>>31228562
They fish.

>>31228587
What made you think they don't eat meat?
>>
>>31228587
They know about carnivores at least.

It's kind of like a mix between eating and wearing monsters.
>>
>>31228605
I think it was described last thread? Or am I imagining that? Nuts and berries, if I recall.
>>
>>31228587
>C"Kurojo! Did you know that monsters exist?!"

>K looks to the Tropius hanging around the village.
>K looks out to the jungle. A Nar-Kage waves.
>K Looks out to the sea, a Sharpedo launches itself into the air to eat a pelliper.
>K Looks to Ceru,"Yesh Sheru, monshters exist."
>>
>>31228655
They called us a monster before we told them we were human.
>>
>>31228655
I have to wonder, do Tropius survive pretty much entirely by photosynthesis?

Like are they pretty much just slightly ambulatory trees?
>>
>>31228445
That would makes sense if you didn't say
>Was going to do the Nar-kage fight and everything but my eyes won't stay open and I think I'm typing but I'm really falling asleep.
at the end of the session.

>>
“Umm...” You look stare at them for a moment, trying to work out their “expressions” which proves to be difficult due to the presence of beaks upon their face. After looking back down at Marine, that's when you understand.

“Oh! You're wondering why we don't look alike?” You look over them again, receiving nods and their other little cues of confirmation.
“We trained together and grew up together...” You trail off there for a moment, wondering just how much you should talk about the dome to outsiders. Boss probably wouldn't like that.
“Friends don't need to look like each other, right?”

Mukon looks to Kurojo, seeming to smirk as the younger bird bows his head,” No. Friends don't need.”

The elder bird comes forward, taking Marine's other hand, and looking to you for a moment with his soul-searching eyes.

You understand what he wants to know,”Um, she was paralyzed by those bushes. She should heal up from the scratches, and I already treated her paralys-” You cough into your hand a bit, Mukon touches your back through the small fit. You must still be pretty exhausted from getting swept around the sea for so long.

Taking a deep breath,”I treated her paralysis and gave her an antidote to make sure she was okay.”

Mukon nods and rises, picking up Marine and hoisting her upon his shoulder, adjusting to her weight.
“We go to shity.”

You nod,”Yeah, let's go back.” Kurojo looks to you and immediately offers his back. Seems that the three of you are going to be traveling quickly.

“Be gentle with her, okay?” You say as you climb onto Kurojo's back, clearing your throat.

Mukon nods, and then leaps away through the trees. Shortly after, you too are flying upon the back of Kurojo. You try to relax against his feathery back, feeling his plumage tickle your nose. You're getting tired...

You know my favorite way to do dice?

>Crit success = +2 success
>Non-crit success = +1 success
>Non-crit fail = +/-0 success
>Crit fail = -1 success

Shame that's not how it be for this quest.
>>
>>31229123
That was already suggested to Prof before.
>>
>>31229123

Wouldn't mind doing that, but how then would I work in the ranks of the skills without making it quite frequent successes?
>>
>>31229141
What was your idea for dodging again?
>>
>>31229141
By fiddling around with the numbers on what dc to set to be considered a "success" and how many successes are needed for each different outcome to the roll?

It doesn't seem like something that would consider a lot of thought, and I can't exactly help you much on this since a good chunk of the mechanics are behind the scenes.
>>
>>31229219
Instead of attacking, you can dodge instead, taking up the turn but letting you dodge moves like Solarbeam.

I'd imagine this is Protect or Detect, like in the games.
>>
>>31229255
No, he talked about something else other than that when people raised up the problems with that idea.
>>
>>31229141
If we're doing it like a dicepool, have the enemy roll as well and count their successes against ours? It works in that we shouldn't be fucking up basic stuff, but will allow stronger enemies to still compete and shit.
>>
>>31229254
>By fiddling around with the numbers on what dc to set to be considered a "success"
How would that help? The problem with his dice rolling rules before was that he always set them up too high.

>how many successes are needed for each different outcome to the roll?
>>31229292
Comparing multiple successes has been done before. I remember a quest that did it last year? Didn't really work out that well in practice, apparently.
>>
>>31229292
Visible and background enemy dice both have pretty severe downsides though
>>
>>31229141
>>31229123

No, fuck that. Dicepool just complicate things, don't do it Prof. THings are fine the way they are.
>>
>>31229141
The best idea that's been thrown around so far seems to be to integrate it with whatever mechanic you've got in mind for dodging.
>>
>>31229366
Yeah I have no objection with the dice.

You slowly feel your eyelids growing heavy, closing on you despite yourself as you cling to Kurojo's back.

Whether it's him, or the feathers, it's kind of comfy. You can feel the exertions of his muscles through his back as he uses very nearly his whole body to facilitate his long jumps. He seems to have gotten used to carrying you, and the paralysis in his body's vanished from your syringe.

>7 Paralysis-heals left.

You recount what you were distributed. The awakening's all gone so if you need to stay awake through something it's all on you. You still have nine antidotes and Marine should have her own loadout. Likely she's out of awakenings too.

You keep your eyes open as the nightcast jungle sweeps by you. Travel this way reminds you of the trams back home, except you can make things out during the stops.

In one, you see a cluster of red bugs lighting up like the stars in the sky as they dance over a lake in the middle of the jungle.
At another, you see an enormous ape sitting in one of the colossal trees sleeping with its family.
And so much other life in the jungle. Some of it so peaceful and serene, it makes you ponder just how large and beautiful the world is. The world you'd never seen before with your life inside the dome.

You manage to stay awake for the most part, you don't really want to drool against Kurojo anyway. He probably wouldn't like that.

As you near the waterfall to the village, you see a sudden blinding flash discharge before you and Kurojo, blinding your joint vision and causing Kurojo to miss his next foothold, falling the jungle below with a loud screech.

You release yourself in time to correct your fall and land heavily upon all fours, your trained body holding together against the brutal fall from so high.

With stars in your vision, you try to blink them back as you hear the crackling of electricity and the low growl of a monster near.
“Kurojo?! Kurojo! Where are you?” You look around, yet still cannot see.
>>
>>31229447
If I'm not mistaken, you said the current dice work by, of the rolls, as long as one succeeds, it's a success right?

You go kinda dice light anyway, so it's hard to tell.
>>
“Sheru.” You hear a voice near you, and meticulous movements as the source moves into a stance. “ Rentorar see us. Sheru okay?”

You home in on the source of his sound and back yourself towards him slowly as your eyes still work on readjusting from the flash.

The growling silences, the only clue you have to the beast's location are your ears, and what little noise it makes in drawing closer, small crackles of electricity are heard from all around you.

>>31229542
This, and how strong is our Icy Wind now? Before, in combination with our water guns, we could make a mist. Now, they've both ranked up quite a bit since then. How thick of a mist could we create to hinder vision?
>>
>>31229575
>Psybeam?
Why? These things are electric, so it doesn't have a type advantage or anything.
>>
>>31229577
I don't think that'd help Kurojo?
>>
>>31229518
Ground's loamy like most of the earth here. Dead leaves and the distant sound of the waterfall.
It was within sight before you were hit with the flash.

You could try to make a run for it, but you might run into something like this.
>>
>>31229589
I guess it wouldn't resist Ice, so Icicle Gun makes more sense.

Or we can get aurora beam.
>>
>>31229607
It'd discomfort him a bit, but hiding our visibility away from the enemy is important.

It would just be good manners to warn him first of how cold it is, though.

Snarl and Icicle Gun.
>>

>>31229589
Our psybeam only gives a headache to thing that it isn't supereffective on right now.

So icicle gun would probably be beter.
>>
Shame we fucked up the blind fighting training.
>>
>>31229625
Well, we shouldn't be firing blind without an idea of where the enemy and our allies are in the first place. Remember your trigger discipline!

>>31229642
We're still 'blind'.
>>
I'm seeing a lot of Icicle gun, snarl, and Icy Wind.

Use all three?
>>
>>31229654
We can snapshot at sounds
>>
>>31229650
Indeed.

>>31229608
Now is a good time to try and focus on our ears. The thing has flash, so being able to hear it is key. Keep trying to find our friend, and keep ourselves armed as we can. Prepare our throat gun too, so we can ready our claws to spin us around quickly on all fours. Keep our tail active to protect our ass.

Man, Marine being awake now would be awesome. She's the one with sonar.
>>
>>31229694
Yeah, sure.

Is Flash a technical skill?
>>
>>31229694
Works
>>
>>31229694
I'd prefer to use Icy Wind to change the battlefield to suit our style of fighting, and snarl to frighten away anything else around us.

Can we prepare icicle gun in our mouth gun? If so, go for it.
>>
>>31229708
Yep.

Snarl affects all Special attack moves.
>>
>>31229716
>Can we prepare icicle gun in our mouth gun?
Doubt it. We've been using the amber claws for it up until amber cryo-nubs grew around the gun barrel. We don't actually have any of the amber cryo-teeth in our mouth.
>>
>>31229745
Dang.
>>
>>31229694
>>31229716
Yeah, use Icicle Gun with our mouth. That way, we can stay on all fours.

Question, Prof. Can we use Quick Attack to perform a..."Quick Evasion"?

>>31229745
No, we don't need the amber claws. Don't you remember our first attempt at the Icicle Gun? We choked ourselves.

Our horn can freeze the water as well.
>>
>>31229694
Do it.
>>
>>31229447
I keep imagining evolved Ceru as getting those huge sabers and being really, really embarrassed about them.
>>
>>31229765
>No, we don't need the amber claws. Don't you remember our first attempt at the Icicle Gun? We choked ourselves.
>
>Our horn can freeze the water as well.
Our first attempt was us using Ice Shards (which is still centered in our hands) and cupping our hands around our mouth.
>>
>>31229745
>>31229760
We actually do have the Amber claws in our mouth.

That's where they were in the first place.

Even so we don't need our hands to use Icy Wind so we can prepare 3 Icicle Guns and Icywind and Snarl

Though Snarl may restrict he mouth Icicle Gun.
>>
>>31229788
>We actually do have the Amber claws in our mouth.
No we don't. The amber claws were the two sabre teeth that we had broken up and put in our fingertips. The regular teeth got put in Ceru's mouth, and those aren't amber and they have lesser cryogenic utility.
>>
>>31228287
We back in kanto yet?
>>
>>31229832
The regular teeth are what is coming in around our guns.

They don't have the cryogenic capability that our main Claws do.

>>
>>31229855
The things coming in around the hand guns are the same amber material that the claws are. That was specifically stated. The teeth in Ceru's mouth are not the amber material.
>>
>>31229855
No, they're not regular teeth. They were described as being amber, like our claws.

>Your evolution completed itself. With a look over your arms and body you find that your claws have finally become retractable and your gun-holes have sealed themselves shut when not in use. Around them there's also amber tips that come out when they open. They're sharp and bear a chill not unlike your claws.

Averaged for multiple attacks in a round. The good news is that it'll apply more damage.
>>
Rolled 2 + 3

>>31229958

Then, wht are the ranks on the skills for?
>>
Rolled 10 + 3

>>31229958
>>
So using Icy Wind alone would net us +6?
>>
Rolled 4 + 3

>>31230002
We failed the DC
>>
>>31230002
Ah. So multi-attacks DO have a penalty. I was wondering about that.

If this guy has +12 and we have +3, then we should not be fighting him.
>>
>>31230002
>Averaged for multiple attacks in a round. The good news is that it'll apply more damage.
So the ranks are not applied to the rolls. How do you use them? The average of our moves is 4.5, so what's that for?
>>
>>31230023
Shh. We didn't fail anything.
>>
>>31230006
Damage, and if focused on for a round increased chance to hit.

Icy wind alone would be +6. But only be Icy Wind for what damage that's worth.

Icicle gun would be 3, but factor into being the damage that it's worth.
>>
Rolled 17 + 3

>>31230025
Actually we would have much more than a +3 if we did not use Icy Wind and Snarl.
>>
>>31230023
Huh? What do you mean?
>>
>>31229971

>>
>>31230025
>>31230042
So using multiple moves that have a disparity in their ranks weakens whatever that bonus is for since apparently ranks are not used in the rolls.

However, they DO more damage in the end than if we had just relied on either one singularly.
>>
>>31230064
I'm taking the 20 because I was confusing. It's gonna face some penalties next round.

>>31230042

>>
>>31230076
I still don't understand what the ranks are for. Damage? How does that work?

A 6 Icy Wind would deal less damage than a 3 Icicle Gun, but both of them together do more damage?
>>
>>31230108
see >>31230041
>>
>>31230108
This is confusing
>>
>>31230123
Yeah, and I'm asking for that to be clarified.
>>
>>31230123
+6 for damage or accuracy?
>>
>>31230108
6 is more likely to hit but icicle gun does more damage.

Icy wind does damage with an added effect of slowing down enemies and altering the environment.
Icicle gun is a footlong icicle in your head when it hits.

In another sense it can be worth the risk to use a low rank technique together with a higher one to increase hit chance due to the average of the second attack.

>>31230142
Both.
>>
>>31230134
>>31230125
>>31230108
>>31230142
My attempts to clarify:
Ranks associate with damage always, just the raw strength of the move.

If you use multiple attacks, you have less chance to hit-in the sense that a lower bonus from the ranks is applied, or not at all if you use too many moves.

If, however, you use one attack and focus on it, you can apply the ranks to hit as well.

Does this sound right Professor?
>>
>>31230108
From how I understand:
Ranks increase damage AND accuracy
When you use multiple attacks, you take the average of the two for accuracy(although it seems there's a penalty on top of that, otherwise it would be 4.5)
>>
>>31230183
Snarl is rank 2.
>>
>>31230168
Okay, so...

If they were both at rank 7, they would both have the same accuracy? But Icicle Gun would do more damage while Icy Wind would freeze and slow. I understand that much.

But where does this factor in? It's not a part of the rolls, so where do you use the average in?
>>
>>31230168
So we could use something with a +8 with something with a +2 and end up with +5?

So we get +5 to an attack that would normally only get +2 making the attack much stronger.

So we should use Icy Wind + Psybeam.
>>
>>31230211
I didn't think Snarl would count towards that.

Seems more like a hit or miss thing.

Just roll a separate 1d6 for it.
>>
>>31230211
>Snarl counts for attack averages

Ok, guys. We gotta level up Snarl like CRAZY. Since it's a free action, it essentially acts as a stat booster on all moves.

>Rank 10 snarl
>Rank 1 new move
>Use them together to get a huge bonus despite new move only being rank 1
>>
>>31230211
Icy Wind 6
Icicle Gun 3
Snarl 2
6+3+2=11

>>31230230

>>
>>31230589
I'm also curious about >>31230693

It seems odd for something like Icy Wind -> Blizzard to require the same number of ranks that something like Psybeam -> Psychic would.

The former is double the power and a whole hell of a lot more nasty while the latter isn't even a 50% power increase.
>>
>>31230745
Psybeam goes into Psyschock.

Hearing crackles from all around you, the creatures draw closer, backing you further towards Kurojo.

You're sent jumping as you hear static pops thrown at you from all around, the numbness from the electrical attacks invades your body from the hits, tingling through your body. You tremble as it invades the water within your omniguns, sending you on edge.

Scared for your life, you whip up a wind as your first response, drawing a biting cold forth from the horn you've grown so proud of during training. As you do so, your fur frosts over, sharpening into icy spines to deter whatever it is that's out there.
You hear a call from Kurojo as the cold must hit him, yet after that he bears with it as you seek to freeze the other things in the area.

Hearing a sudden growl as the wind whips around, you turn, snarling fiercely at your foe despite your blindness, and the growl stops suddenly as you give it your most feral expression.

Raising your guns, you unload with a double pair of icicles, sending them into your blacked out vision, hearing the feeble whines of the thing at the other end, lets you know that you hit your target. It made a mistake. Was it too slow? Or did it simply underestimate you?

As you ponder, your body shudders from the electrical attack, making your hands wobble unsteadily. You cough a bit again, covering your mouth with your arm, showing a moment of weakness.

You hear a monster lunge at you, and the sudden movement of Kurojo at your side sending something sprawling with a ferocious punch that emits the sound of breaking bones.

“Sh-Sheru. We need to go.” Kurojo shivers besides you, your vision still shot but he must still have his. Or whatever other one he uses.

Recovering from the fit, you steady yourself, fur still in frozen spines.

Your vision begins to clear up, and you see a large creature that blends with the night slinking back into the shadows, limping away.
Other yellow eyes glare at you from the dark. Waiting, watching as they circle around with electricity jolting from their fur.
It seems like they're being cautious on the approach now, especially with one of them broken away from the rest, lying on its stomach with excessive amounts of electricity prepped in its defense.
That must be the one that Kurojo hit.

>>31231277
Roar is our best "show of force" move, followed by a tail smash or Icy Wind.

Whether using a show of force is GOOD on the other hand...

I'm thinking:
>predator perceives us as prey
just make sure they know we aren't worth it, and that we're ready to fight back

>predator perceives us as invading territory
Show minor submission
not sure what next

>predator challenges us, or thinks we're challenging it
Staring contest, show of force, try to get a draw, because scaring it too much might make it attack.

In all honest there are going to be some monsters that can't be debuffed or made to flee quite that easily.

I'd more imagine a charizard or a houndoom flipping you the metaphorical bird at a snarl or roar and proceeding to rip and tear.
>>
You ease up on the Icy Wind around yourself and Kurojo. As you do so, you hear a fearsome roar tear through the jungle, like a great beast set to rampage. It's primordial and shakes you to the core.
Yet Kurojo is undaunted despite his cowardice earlier this night.

You back into him, letting your frozen fur go soft again so as to not harm him, yet you're still completely on edge.
“W-what is that?”
Kurojo grabs you, making you fly again as the pack of beasts make scramble for cover, heading away from the great noise.
However you and Kurojo... Are actually headed towards it.

“Kurojo?! What are you doing! There's a monster over there-” You see the source finally and you understand why he was so relaxed.

Mukon's standing upon one of the tree branches, bellowing with his breast swollen outward.

That's so clever! He's mimicking a bigger monster to scare off a bunch of smaller ones!

You can't help but smile at that. That's actually really cool. That must be part of how the Kahkori survive here... But why didn't Kurojo do something like that earlier?

>>
>>31231741
Well, if the monster it was fighting doesn't run away.

Although it doesn't really matter whether or not you attract a monster as long as you leave the immediate area. Then, the only way the monster could chase anyone would be to follow their scent. Ceru's would be harder to track individually as long as she keeps herself frozen, I think,

As Kurojo hops over to Mukon with you in his arms, there's a sudden shadow that sweeps across the treetops like a swift black death, momentarily obscuring the elder bird.
Your heart skips a beat as your eyes register an enormous gash in the tree that he'd been standing in, a cut with such force and ferocity that it might've cleaved even Marine in half. That's what you don't want. That's what your heart couldn't bear.

When the shadow's blurry form passes, you still see Mukon's colorful body holding Marine, he escaped. He wasn't cut in ha-

You see something bright fall to the forest floor below. He... lost something.

Kurojo cries out what must be the equivalent to the older bird's name.

The shadow attaches itself to another one of the trees, quickly circling around it like moving water and launching itself at you and Kurojo just as he makes contact with a tree.
In a fearful hastem he sends himself surging up into the understory, forcing the creature to round off its attack into another landing upon a tree.

It snakes its tail around as your digs in with fearsome claws, a shimmering appendage jutting from its forelegs with a second in line. It turns its red glaring eyes up to the two of you as you fly momentarily to Kurojo's next foothold.

You can tell from looking down, the creature's debating for a moment on who to go after.
The already wounded? Or the young and meek?
>>
>>31231863
It springs away to another branch at a higher elevation, resolving to go for the two of you with its oiled movements wrapping itself around trees like a fine black velvet that you've never had the joy of touching.

Kurojo doesn't speak to you, he's too on edge for words, and you can tell. He's scared. Not just for himself though you feel. But for Mukon too.

You have your Aquatic 3PMG. It's not the best out of water but Misty always said that it can work... But your voltorb will pay for it.

What's your attack plan? Icy wind and icicle gun?
>>
>>31232073
>Marine would be worst in this situation. She's a brawler.
I think it's her radarfin that we'd want to use in this situation. A spotter would be very useful, especially since this guy can evade Kurojo's aura senses.

>>31232047
We better fucking finish this battle using that punch Kurojo and Mukon tried to teach us. Shit would be so ice.
>>
>>31232100
Yes.
>>
>>31232100
Let's set up the battle field first. Use Icy Wind and Water Gun to wet the trees and make it harder for the Nar-kage to move around.

We'll use our icicles to create footholds for Kurojo to move around on. The Nar-kage is too large, so the footholds would either break under it or it won't be able to balance properly.
>>
>>31232105
Actually Aura is the only way to sense them, besides maybe radar.

Even Espers won't work.
>>
>>31232100
No IG. I want to just use IW first for that +6 to the roll for initial debuff.

Focus on not getting killed and making this one easier to kill before we go for the damage.
>>
>>31232100
Icy wind won't be any use unless it's right on top of us in melee. Narga is too fast and agile to get bogged down in one spot. I'd say make for the open area by the beach and use the lack of trees to our advantage to fight it straight on.

Icicle Gun+Lock on is the way to go. Psybeam to destabilize it's movements.
>>
>>31232100
watergun the trees in the combat area, and then icy wind.

The ninja cat will lose its 3-d maneuverability and be forced to take us on the ground.
>>
>>31232100
It's a glider (I am thinking a Gliger perhaps?) So our first thing to do is to find a good position to land, and target it with Icicle Gun. Nothing but Icicle Gun. Focus and fire with full strength. If nothing else, it's part flying type, so it should do something.
>>
>>31232130
No, last thread, the Nar-kage was able to evade Kurojo's aura sensing. It was when we ran away from it the first time.
>>
>>31232100
water gun

>>
>>31232100
>>31232127
This sounds good. We don't want to change the battlefield from the trees since it seems like the Kahkori specialize in battle on the vertical plane.
>>
>>31232145

>>
>>31232177
>>31232196
You don't know that. I would say, yes, it probably is, but you don't KNOW that. Let's call Psybeam a secondary attack then. We'll use it if we get an opening for it, but Icicle Gun otherwise.
>>
>>31232207
Exactly.

Psybeam is useless unless this thing is Fighting. It is Dark so we should not use Psybeam.
>>
>>31232222
The post you originally replied to with "You mean fighting" was saying that psybeam is useless if the nar-kage is Dark. Your reply essentially meant "No, it's useless if the nar-kage is Fighting. It will work if it's Dark."

I'm sure you can see the problem with that.

>>31232245

Stop with the talk of losing limbs. We already had a crit earlier, but it barely did anything but make the leader run away.

If we lost a limb from this, we should have killed one of the monsters instantly and made them run away.

It's not that bad.
>>
>>31232740
But can you get DIFFERENT limbs attached?

Say you're a water-ground type, but the water implant is on you left arm and the ground type is on your right arm. You lose both arms.

Can you get a fire and grass implant? Can you use a limb from a fairly humanoid pokemon? Does being evolved affect this in any way, even though the implants are only on the arms?

Real shame if something happened to it.
>>
>>31232706
You'd still have the enhancements made to your brain and body that allow you to use the grafts. Like, even if we got all our limbs sliced off, we'd still have a targeting lobe in our brain, gills, mods to our throat and mouth that let us breath ice, mods to our lungs, etc. So, I assume we'd be that type still.

>>31232740
Could we cut someone else's arm off and use their grafts to beat the two-type limit, or would our body reject it?

>>31232767
>>31232769
>>31232771
It means you can stick it back on, and if you try really, really hard, and concentrate, you can get your body to reaccept it. Certain types are better at it. Like I bet Sanna could lose arms all day.

The question I asked Prof above is because at one point, Claire gets her arm destroyed, and grafts on someone else's arm so she can use that person's ability.

In any case, you'd still have to be correct typing, and you could force a monster's limb onto your own if need be.

>>31232816
What's the difference?

Anyway, as other's have pointed out, our crit against the pack monsters would be severely underwhelming compared to someone losing an arm in this exchange. In fact, Mukon losing an arm would also be severely disproportionate to the roll we got.

You push off of Kurojo as you tell him that you'll fight, engaging your 3PMG to deploy as it shoots out a harpoon, letting you swing free, flying through the dusky woods on your own as the monster begins to lunge between the two of you, pausing for a moment as its intelligent eyes follow the two of you.

In the next moment Kurojo swings his fist as he darts around a tree, knocking the beast and making it shudder, something about its tail rattles as it transfixes its glare upon the bird. Yet in a sudden move, it lunges at you, its fearsome blade glistening with metallic light as it leaps past you with blade extended.

At the last moment you trigger the hifans at your side to avoid a lethal blow, yet you feel the blade slide through something of yours like a knife the hot soy-butter. Something inside of you snaps as you watch the enormous foe go on by.

You feel tears beading within your eyes in one moment and then a profound emptiness in the next.

This thing is going to kill you. This thing is going to kill you and you need to make a choice. Will you kill it? Or will you be killed?

Boss never said that there was a choice though.

>Rocket Rank bonus. +2

You've lost your left arm, but that's not your dominant hand.
Your eyes follow where it's going to be landing and you swing your right hand across your body to fire there with your water gun and sending a biting cold to ice it over for the monster's landing.

You swing away and your eyes flicker to your falling left hand as water gushes out of your arm. It got you right in the forearm, through the omnibladder. Not good.

You feel lucid. No pain, yet a bit of sleep fatigue. No, this is fine, you can still fight.
>>
You aim your cut arm at the part that's cut off and let the water hit it before you send your icy wind down to that too, freezing it for better location before slathering the erupting water elsewhere, letting the cold bloom into frosty flowers upon the trees as you motion for your 3PMG to pick up, swinging you around the tree.

Triggering your freezer arrays, you stop the flow of water and blood, giving yourself a frozen stump. Taking a deep breath you chill your nerves, watching the thing as it slips upon its new frozen footing, yet quickly corrects itself with its sharp claws. Coiling about the tree with its tail following along like a serpent's it peers between you and Kurojo greedily. Still pondering which one of you it should deal with first. It seems to be barely phased by that attack that Kurojo performed, and it's already correcting itself on ice, though it doesn't seem too happy about its new terrain as it seems to eye at unfrozen spots, just the same as Kurojo.

You steadily ice over the field in this stalemate, though it doesn't seem to be bothering the Nar-Kage too much. You hear something rattling...

Nah, I'm not saying Kurojo should suddenly be brave as fuck.

Maybe if he had some ranged moves, he could panic and randomly fire something, giving a +2 bonus.

>>
>>31234076

>>
>>31234037
Eh, I dunno about that. We're basically a trained soldier. Kurojo is just some village kid. I mean, sure he lives on Death Island, but he's just a kid. We've been trained for years to go above and beyond the norm- to be ELITE. We literally just got points from being so well trained that it canceled out the penalty from having our arm cleaved from our body.

Like, he just watched something he has spent his entire life in fear of slice our arm off. Also, we've freaked out in combat situations too.
>>
hopefully seeing a one armed cripple keep pace with the dreaded nar-kage after it sliced her arm off shakes some of the luster of the nar-kage's mystique and gets his head back in the game
>>
>>31234117
Hey Prof, would eating our dismembered arm give the Nar-kage negative modifiers?
>>
You stare down the monster, your death reflected in its eyes as that rattle is the first sound it's made up until now. Everything else? Wind pressure.
The death rattle sends chills down Kurojo's spine that incline him to remain paralyzed in fear.

You weren't taught to fear though, it's all coming back to you now... The Rocket training.

You've had your arm severed before.

In the next moment sharp scales are flung in your direction as you flip back upon one claw, rolling backwards with your feline physiology completely undermining the presence of your girth. The scales lodge themselves in the wood as the attack comes to an end, a sudden silver presence suddenly whipping towards you like greased lightning.

A silver spectre of death.

Speed be distorted.

You meet the quick blade with the frozen blood and water of your left arm, cushioning the blow just enough to be sent flying backwards through the air by the sheer force and rush of air.

The thing stops short, coiling around to catch itself as it repositions for its next attack, focusing in not on you, but Kurojo.

Again, its blade takes on that sheen that it used to cut through your flesh and bone like a surgical lazer.

It will look at you! You grit your teeth, adjusting yourself with your feline physiology, you flip back and planting your feet onto the next nearest tree and immediately set a harpoon from your 3PMG down to hold your weight as you aline your gun.

You've been staring at it all this time. You're ready to take this shot. Gun aligned, trajectory predicted.
Remoraid doesn't miss within three hundred feet.

You launch an icicle, feeling the cool miss of excess water spray past you as a foot-long icicle is launched with blinding speed, like a white spear flying through the forest, it nails Nar-kage right in the face, shattering against its profile and changing the thing's trajectory just enough to give Kurojo the time he needs to dodge and slide under the slash.
>>
>>31234214
>You've had your arm severed before.
Wait, what? She did? When was this?
>>
A branch of one of this great trees is sliced clean in half by the Nar-Kage's botched cut.

It was the first cut it's made yet that actually felled one of these branches as the great branch, easily the size of the biggest tree back home falls to the jungle floor below.

The monster opens its arms and extends a membrane to glide to a lower part of the trees as you press fire with your ice, peppering it round after round despite the fact that they don't seem to be penetrating too deeply.

The thing escapes into from the understory down onto the forest floor.

It seems that the things left you unmolested, yet with its unnatural silence, it feels as though it could still strike from any given location.

You hear the rattle from below. It stops, then it's somewhere else.
And again.

It's not done with either of you yet.

Rolled 1

You take a moment to breath, letting out a steady chill breath. Icy wind seems to be slowing down the monster some, but it keeps slipping in and out of range. You keep bufetting Kurojo with it too, doing him no favors. You cease the wind, yet keep your eyes trained, looking at every dark nook and cranny below you.

“Kurojo!” You don't look at him, “I need you to snap out of it! If it bleeds we can kill it! If you don't do anything you'll die! Fight for Mukon!”

The birdman looks at you, the fear absolving itself from his eyes as he shakes off the frost-layer from your wind. He stands defiant and steels himself.

“Kurojo fight!” With a nod, he hops between closely spaced branches to prevent himself from being an easy target.

Yet he is unaware just how close his foe is as a shadow with a glimmering outline drops down from above, shaving off his tail feathers if only due to its new found sluggishness as it even hesitates in drawing its blade back in enough to leave a surgical gash within a branch that it lands upon.

At that moment, Kurojo spins around and launches another hit of that strange force that travels through the air from his fist. This timw it knocks the Nar-Kage right in the face, seeming to give it real pause as it reels from the damage.

The Nar-Kage appears to be... Stunned?

In contested rolls there is no critfail.

However it will be present in DC challenges.

It's also good that you crit.

>Always found that to be one of less justified typing matchups like bug vs Evil.
And I think Ice being weak to Steel is bullshit.
>>

So wait, Nar-kages have to learn a certain move to evolve while Bligers have to eat a dragon?
>>
>>31234996
Icepick.
>>
>>31234959
I actually so a experiment on that on tv the other day. Bullets can break through bricks and concrete, but they have a much harder time getting through just water. It's because of how the molecules are arranged; if a bullet pierces through something solid, it can simply compress the point it pierces through and crack it. But it can't do that with water. The molecules shift around and it provides a constant drag on the bullet's velocity.

So I guess you can say that our blubber does the same thing to steel.

It's stunned! You glare at it, almost licking your lips as you debate over the the most likely ways to kill it.

Armored skeleton, if you slit its throat you might catch into a protective membrane. Icicles got stuck, didn't penetrate deeply enough, it must be there. Icy Wind didn't do much against it due to its fur, feathers and the iron membrane, Kurojo must've struck it in a way that moved it, in that case if you freeze it.
But it needs to be deep and close.

You muster all the strength you have left to leap out into the trees and launch a harpoon from your 3Point Maneuver Gear right into the beast as its dazed. Speeding down, your fly until the wire forces you back up from the centrifugal force generated by wrapping halfway around the branch.

You release the harpoon as it whips around to reconnect with its coils, with a flip, you land upon the Nar-Kage's back, glaring at its head as your feet touch down into smaller spines that must be quill-like blades. You wince as they drive themselves into your heels, but you have a job here.

You're going to do it.

Taking a deep breath and holding back an incoming onset of coughing, you supercool your breath and blow it deeply into the Nar-Kage's head.

Fingers of frost creep in, perpetuating the cold as it blooms across the surface of its furry body. The effect is instant as it's locked into its stun by the horribly frigid breath.

It'll just go to sleep at this rate. Without ever waking up.

Its head bows to Kurojo, whom places a hand upon its beak as its eyes slowly freeze over from your biting cold.

Mumbling something in his own native tongue, Kurojo place a palm against the creature's head, sharing in the frost for a moment before a sudden surge of power passes through his arm, traveling through the Nar-Kage's brain. You can feel everything within crumble.

As the thing begins to waver, you hear something like the sound of broken glass within, and then you feel it slip, beginning to fall.
>>
>>31235192
Oh god. I don't know what to suggest.

Or rather, there doesn't seem to be anything interesting to suggest aside from what's already being worked on by people. If you feel like doing something strange...

How about Sabrina fantasizing over Bruno's encounter with the Machops. I know we've joked around that she was just jealous of the Machops and that she was in love with Bruno. Lots of potential.
>>
You let yourself for a moment, resolving to activate your 3PGS at a more opportune moment, yet then you fall a hand clasp around your own and...

>Rocket modifier bonus lost! Returns to +2.

You look up to see Kurojo, holding you by the arm with his powerful hand. You look down to your left arm and visibly shiver. You need to get it back on, you need to get it back on, you need to get it-

“Where's Mukon and Marine?” You ask, looking up and forgetting about yourself for a moment.

It's then that you realize that you'd been watched for this battle as many of the Kahkori have gathered, your focus on the fight distracting you.

In the treetops they let out a resounding, warbling cry that relays to you some meaning of triumph.

Kurojo seems to be a bit pleased, if not embarrassed by the sudden praise from the watchers as he pulls you up.

You clutch at your stumped arm gingerly, looking around and soon spotting the Azure and Gold colors of Mukon, lacking an arm, and still holding Marine.

One of them has already gone down below to retrieve your arm, going on up to stand with the others.
Its Kinata. Kurojo's little sister that's gotten a hold of your arm. That's good...

You let out the cough you'd held back before, this time the fit's a bit longer and you don't really feel right in the head.

A bit dizzy actually.

Kurojo seems to understand this and scoop you up with an arm under your back and legs as you cling tightly to the bird-man. It's kind of strange actually. You wouldn't have thought that you'd even cling so tightly to a stranger like this. It's... Kind of alright.

You stifle some coughing against your shoulder and the Kahkori take flight, returning to Karkiko village.

>You've rescued Marine and successfully slain a Nar-Kage!
>What other dangers await upon this mysterious island?
>How will you get home?
>How long have the Kahkori lived here?

so it will work if Ceru shoots it from directly above?
>>
>>31235486
Sheer Cold is delayed. It won't go into absolute zero IMMEDIATELY, and Prof confirmed that the freezing happens rapidly.

So I believe that an icicle railgun would work. Of course it won't be an absolute zero icicle, but we'd still get to freeze it despite the sheer force and amount Hydro Pump outputs.
>>
Ah right.

Over(Human)Limit is tomorrow at 20:00 for those that it may concern. Hoping for Asher to hit Vegas finally.

And... Everyone' happy with the way this thread turned out, yes? A good bossfight and everything?

I changed the start because I wanted to pull that PSYCH! and then bring out the actual monster later.

If the encounter roll for Nar-Kage had been succeeded it would've been run into another time.
>>
So. Will we try to stay awake until Marine becomes conscious? Not like we wouldn't be able to Rest right after and she'd probably appreciate having the first thing she sees when she wakes up be a friendly, familiar face. Instead of muscular birdman abs.

>>31235478
It's been a good thread, Prof. The ending was definitely the high point. Looking forward to our next session.
>>
>>31235528
>Over(Human)Limit is tomorrow at 20:00 for those that it may concern. Hoping for Asher to hit Vegas finally.
You just had one yesterday? This seems like a pretty busy week for you. Good to know that your schedule has freed up.

Next AoPH session announced on Friday, right?
>>
>>31235528
>Over(Human)Limit is tomorrow
Quick yes/no about whether this would be a viable oath.
>+rank when using spell in combination with another spell, -rank when it's being used used by itself
I was thinking that it would be neat for Aerokinesis.
>>
>>31235226
>It's then that you realize that you'd been watched for this battle as many of the Kahkori have gathered, your focus on the fight distracting you.
>In the treetops they let out a resounding, warbling cry that relays to you some meaning of triumph.
>Kurojo seems to be a bit pleased, if not embarrassed by the sudden praise from the watchers as he pulls you up.
This is so Disney. Like. Even the fact that Kurojo got embarrassed. Just like Tarzan.
>>
>>31235528
Excellent thread, Prof. We got shit done.

Man, Marine's going to wake up, look to the side, and see Ceru.

Then she'll get up and realize that our arm is detached, and we wake up because she's screaming.

Then we give her a one-armed hug.
>>
>>31235528
Yeah, I'd say it was a pretty good boss fight. Honestly, when I first saw the mods (26 vs our 3 or something) I had given up hope of winning for a bit.

But debuffs are, apparently, a bitch. Good to know.
I also learned some important things this thread. Such as: Crits are different now, limbs can be reattached using willpower, and ranks relate to accuracy and damage differently.

I really REALLY think you should, uh, put this info somewhere for people to see it, if you haven't already. If you have, and I just missed it, my bad then.

I really like how you described this thing during battle, too.

Oh, also make a little list of all of Ceru's resistances so you don't forget anymore, huh?
>>
>>31235551
Depending on how tired Marine is, our arm may have been reattached by then. The characters in Claymore who are capable of healing themselves can reattach their limbs quickly enough. Usually not while in the midst of battle, but quickly enough during a respite.
>>
>>31235555
>Things I learned
Also multi attacks decrease accuracy.
>>
>>31235505
I'm not sure how you think this would work.

Sheer Cold takes a bit of time to 'charge up', during which nothing happens. Then it snap freezes the targeted point, instantly dropping it to absolute zero.

If you hit a water stream with that snap freeze with perfect timing, it will drop to the ground.
If you snap freeze the air and try to shoot through it, then it will hit a chunk of solid air and launch the solid-air chunk forward while splashing water everywhere.
You could also try to do something where you shoot a sustained blast of water and then charge it, but that would just result in a stream of water being shot and then interrupted by the solid air chunk which is then propelled forward by the rest of the water blast.
>>
>>31235535
>You just had one yesterday? This seems like a pretty busy week for you. Good to know that your schedule has freed up.
The thread lasted for a few days.

Players kept conversing.

Yeas, AoPH is to be announced Friday.

>>31235537
I'd need to see you guys rely on aero alone more before I felt that was a viable limitation.
In any case, the oaths are going to be reliant at points in the story. Asher will have chances to make an oath that's been discussed and if it's voted out it's not coming up again.

>>31235544

Are we actually gonna get that Nar-kage fur coat?
>>
>>31235635
So he doesn't get crazy good M-virus, but instead, he gets to either learn cool shit much faster or somehow has an inherent, predisposed affinity for the moves his dad knows.

Not bad.

>>31235641
Race seems to hybridize when it comes to humans. Maybe we're all just breeds of dog.

>>31235649

Ni'Rena was very humanoid while Bruise lacks machop/machoke profiles while still bearing their skin and /fit/ physiology.

Does Cerulean like /fit/?
>>
>>31235663
>It's a metal coat
...wait...
WAIT
We need to bring it back to Pewter. I'm sure there's someone there with a Onix graft. or maybe at the bug gym for a scyther graft.
>>
>>31235648
Sounds like a plan. We can also see if we can get a sweet sword or two to bring back to the dome, maybe use as our signature weapon from now on.

No hoodie for our bitchin' black, velvety coat, though. Kurojo blew its head off.
>>
>>31235663
>It's a metal coat.
Ho ho ho.

Yes, clearly. I am the Bruise supporter.
>>
>>31235605
>>31235635
>>31235649
Ah, alright, I get it now.

Since our mother was one of the Elite 4, we're pretty well disposed towards adapting to our grafts.

Bruise got muscle memory from Bruno, I guess? Maybe his muscle development as well?

>>31235663
Devon and Bruise are pretty fit, huh? Goldie's not.

What was Ni'Rena's defining characteristic again? His big schlong? And he looked more human than Bruise?
>>
>>31235675
>No hoodie for our bitchin' black, velvety coat, though. Kurojo blew its head off.
It's alright. Snorunt/Froslass will give us our very own skin-hoodie.

>>31235675
>Sounds like a plan. We can also see if we can get a sweet sword or two to bring back to the dome, maybe use as our signature weapon from now on.
We use polearms. So we would use its tail, not its arms. If we ever get the chance to harvest its parts for weaponry.
>>
>>31235582
>In any case, the oaths are going to be reliant at points in the story. Asher will have chances to make an oath that's been discussed and if it's voted out it's not coming up again.
I wish we'd gone with a different wording for Oath of the Sculptor.
>+rank when using Ice for non-offensive purposes, -rank when using it for offense.

Shame we went with the horrible "+rank always but never use it to attack or do anything that hurts someone ever or you get a near-permanent -rank."
>>
>>31235675
>>31235685
>>31235661
>using weapons
Ceru needs her hands open for gunning. She also has a bigger bonus for hand to hand than she does for any weapon.
>>
>>31235682
>>What was Ni'Rena's defining characteristic again? His big schlong? And he looked more human than Bruise?

He had lack of really yellow skin that only came up as like, asian color I'd say, whatever that is.
He had slightly lengthened and thick nails as claws, but still passable for a poor manicure in a human.
His nose was sort of big, byt still fit his face.

Other than that? He was passable.

>>31235692
>"+rank always but never use it to attack or do anything that hurts someone ever or you get a near-permanent -rank."
It's been retroactively converted to a dynamic oath.
It only suffers that penalty for the duration.
>>
>>31235700
>Blade that cut your arm clean off.
>Claws.
>>
>>31235701
>He had lack of really yellow skin that only came up as like, asian color I'd say, whatever that is.
Light brown. Yellowing skin is more of a sign of disease.
>>
>>31235682
He had black splotches in his ears.

>>31235685
I thought Prof was planning to allow us to respec out of polearms since we don't use them anymore.

Also, I don't think Nar-kage tails have the spikes yet. So it would be a blunt pole.
>>
>>31235701
>It's been retroactively converted to a dynamic oath.
>It only suffers that penalty for the duration.
Did you just decide that now or something? Cause I saw the idea to retcon it being brought up, but I never saw you say anything definitive about it previously.

You should make note of it in the pastebin.

Thanks
>>
>>31235700
Hang it on the back, anon.

>>31235703
Did its tail have a blade? I can't recall, since I was too busy focusing on its blade-arms.

The similarities between us and the Nar-kage are actually cool. We can freeze our tail into a blade and our arms have the spiked cartilage material too. How hard is the cartilage anyway? Would it only defend against blunt foes, or would it be able to stop something like the Nar-kage's blade from slicing through the arm completely?
>>
>>31235685
We sorta haven't used the bident in so long that they refused to give us one for this mission.

Going for swords would also give us an excuse to train at Fuschia and/or with Devon more.
I don't actually ship Devon, I just enjoy the interactions with him because I think it's funny to see him be a douche.
>>
>>31235716
It's not that they refused to give us one, it's just that it's in short enough supply that it would be better to hand off to the more dedicated polearm users.
>>
Just sayin', if they make a katana out of the armblades, I'm jumpin all over that shit.
>>
>>31235716
>We sorta haven't used the bident in so long that they refused to give us one for this mission.
That's no reason to learn how to wield a sword. Better to stick with polearms. It has synergy with our Thrown Weapons training.
>>
>>31235701
Prof, what do humans in the dome resemble compared to Earth humans?

Like I figured that facial and skin color match that of Japanese, but stupid-large variety in hair and eye color.

Except for Surge.
>>
>>31235703
We oughta keep it in a sheath on our waist.

That way, when something approaches us while we're gunning, we can draw it and cut the enemy in half with Crossroad Killing in a single stroke. Just like in my Japanese animes.
>>
>>31235735
The sword's pretty big, anon. It's not going to fit in our wrist.

Ceru freezes her tail into a flail. A stick of spiny doom.

The Cartilage is still soft, the Nar-Kage cut through it.
Next evo the think would likely get stuck in it rather than pass all the way through.

Nar-Kage has Bladess.
Bliger has Spikes.

The Nar-Kage's tail is a thorny mass of poisonous scaes that it likes to throw.
