The last thing you remember is finding a girl's mother. The first thing you remember is alarms going off.

Your name is Alice, a prototype infiltration/assassination android and right now you are inside the New City Detention Transfer Facility, locating the mother of a girl called Rat who also happens to be a skilled smuggling pilot, for a crime lord called The Red Queen.

You've confirmed the location of Rat's mother, the only pilot arrested that is still awaiting transfer, sitting inside a cell in Cell Block Tower 3. But there's a problem.

Someone has attacked the front gate, which has put the facility on high alert. While this has allowed you to leave the inner room of the Central Security room where the secure computers are, it means that getting to the Cell Block Tower is going to be harder.

You are currently disguised as one of the Maintenance Staff, with the rather nebulous title of General Duty Maintenance and Repair.

As you exit the room, guards are rushing to meet the attack, but you know that if they are at all competent that some of them will remain to guard the prisoners.

You leave Central Security and begin running towards Cell Block Tower 3.

1d100 for general voting, best roll out of five is chosen.

Combat is 1d100 with modifiers for how many shots you fire in combat. Best out of three roll is chosen.

Body armour subtracts from total damage done per attack.

Takedowns and Executions are 1d100-20 and a short paragraph describing the Takedown or Execution. Best out of three rolls is chosen, but I will pick which action description looks the best to me.

Reactor Charges are your healing mechanic. Expend a Reactor charge and roll 12d6. Reactor Charges stack, and are regained through Takedowns and Executions.

Stability is a measure of your Yandere psychological state. If you lose a certain amount, known as the Snap Limit, you Snap and enter a state of emotional hysteria and brief psychosis. Lose all your Stability, and you go Berserk, and will perform a violent action, often against your love interest.

Relationship is how strong your relationship with Ian Carter is. You have to keep your relationship as high as possible. If you drive the relationship down into negative numbers, Ian will reject you, and you will proceed to murder him and commit suicide.

Good luck.
>>
The lights have gone out thanks to a bit of sabotage you employed using a maintenance bot and an electrical problem they were working on.

While it gives you the stealth you need, it also has given someone else the opportunity to launch a more violent jailbreak of their own.

Stealth is still possible, but the option to go loud is now available.

-Drop the disguise, get ready to fight your way into the tower.

You continue to maintain your thoroughly forgettable persona and break out into a run for the Cell Block Tower, looking as if you are trying to evacuate the likely fire fight that is happening at the entrance.

Your systems crack the local radio channels as you run.

"...eed support here! This is not a gang attack! Unknown mercenaries! Repeat! We are under attack by unknown mercenaries!"

"Front Gate, reinforcements are inbound and Quick Respose Force has been alerted. What are you up against?"

*krsh* "-ucking -ess down here! Count at least twenty heavily armoured hostiles with assault rifles and light machineguns-"*boom!*"-uckingdammit! They have a minitank! I repeat! They have a minitank!"

You pick up the pace and turn a corner, reaching the intersection where you can reach the towers.

"-gain, what model of UGVs?"

"Big Dog-III's and Huntsmen! This isn't a jailbreak, it's a fucking invasion!"

You turn the corner and head for Cell Block Tower 3, jogging down a long hallway in the darkness.

"-inutes! Repeat, hold on for five minutes Front Gate, Quick Reaction Force is inbound!"

"Roger that! We'll bleed the bastards dry!" Gunfire fills the channel, before an explosion cuts it.

"Front Gate, report! Front Gate!"

"This is Jesseps! Big Dogs are rigged as suicide bombers! I repeat! The Big Dogs are Bomb Dogs!"

You reach the security gate find a group of scared guards at the security room. They look scared.

What should you say to them?

-"Get the fuck out of here! They're killing everyone they see!"

>"They need help!"

With the radio chatter confirming your words, the guards look at each other, before one of them shakes his head, "Oh hell no, I'm not going to get killed! I'm out of here!"

He breaks away at a dead run while the other guards look at each other, before a transmission comes over the line.

"To all security personnel, the Front Gate need reinforcements! All security personnel must hold the Front Gate from hostile invaders!"

The guards look at each and then to you and you stare back at them with a scared expression, before one of the guards firms his expression, "Let's do this!"

He racks his shotgun and the others, bouyed by his bravado, yell out their own battlecries.

"Yeah!"

"Let's get it on!"

"Rock and roll!"

They run down the hallway and you quickly slip inside the security room to find the prisoner you need to rescue.

There, Cassandra Sandsmark, smuggler pilot, level four. You head for the stairs, easily navigating the darkness as the cracked communications continues to chatter about the invading hostiles.

So far, you have no details on who they might be, but they are clearly well-trained and well-funded if they can afford Huntsmen Heavy Infantry UGVs.

You reach the cell and look inside, finding woman sitting on the bed, looking calm but your systems inform you that she is uneasy.

"Cassandra Sandsmark?" You ask and watch the woman flinch before turning her head towards you in the darkness.

"Yes? Who is it?"

You smile even though you can't be seen except as a dark figure, "I'm here to get you out, your daughter misses you."

"My daughter..." She shakes her head furiously, "Fucking bitch! She has me broken out, when she's the one who put me here!"

You had a feeling the Red Queen was trying to play you. Well, you know how to play this game as well, "I had a feeling about that. She said you were betrayed by someone in her organisation."

The woman snorts in the darkness, "Everyone wants her dead, there's a line."

(Cont.)
>>
"Well, let's get you out of here first, then we can deal with her." You promise and head over to the door release.

These cells are designed with emergency releases in case the prisoner has to be removed rapidly when the power fails. You find the switch and yank it up, causing the door to hiss and pop open.

As the sound echoes in the cell block, the other prisoners hear it and soon there is a barrage of calls for someone to let them out, along with a cacophany of threats and promises of violent retribution.

The door slides open and using your thermals you approach the pilot, "Let's get out of here, we should be able to use the sewer access to leave."

Cassandra nods, "Right behind you."

You take her hand and lead her downstairs and back out into the hallways, but then the radio picks up again.

"Hostiles have breached the Front Gate! All security forces to Processing! Do not let them get inside!"

Another voice comes on, scared, "We have Big Dogs inside the facility! I repeat! We have Big Dogs inside the facility!"

You turn a corner and immediately duck back as a burst of gunfire reaches you.

"Shit!" Cassandra cries out, "What is it?"

You peek out and approaching you in a steady gait is a Big Dog-III UGV.

You drop The Scorpion and draw your gas blades, filling the air with a sharp hissing as your form is illuminated in the darkness.

"What the?" You hear Cassandra breath out as you shift back into your normal form and charge the Big Dog.

Big Dog Counter-Attack: 78-10=68

Another spray of bullets fills the air as you slide underneath the barrage and roll into a rising strike.

Instant kill roll: 8, Instant Kill

The first gas blade slices into the head area, cutting it and the minigun in half as ammunition cooks off and the remaining half explodes.

The second blade slices through metal and armour, cutting a glowing diagonal line as you slide to a halt behind the UGV.

You turn off the blades with a hiss and the UGV falls apart into two large pieces, batteries and plastic catching fire and melting from the extreme heat.

You walk back and pick up The Scorpion and the radio, locking the weapon back into place, "Let's go."

Cassandra nods in the darkness, clearly unsettled by how easily you took out that UGV.

The sounds of combat are now audible in the hallways, getting steadily louder as you approach the hallway that has the sewer access area.

After a few minutes of silence, Cassandra speaks up, "I've never seen anyone take on a UGV like that before."

-"It's a gift."

Cassandra shakes her head, "Hell of a gift if you can take out a UGV like that. So, what sort of bull did the 'Queen' feed you?"

"She wanted me to kill someone in New City, apparently because they betrayed you and are now living the high life," You answer, "now that you've confirmed it for me, I intend to play her right back."

"If you can do that, I'd be glad to help, but I'm a pilot. You want any kind of assistance from me, I'm going to need a helicopter."

You nod in the darkness, "I'll see what I can do, if I can."

Conversation over, the two of you reach the door. With backup power online, the retina scanner is still operable, but your stolen retinas easily bypass that.

Back inside the locker room, you retrieve your clothes and pistol, before looking back at Cassandra using your thermal imaging systems.

There's no telling if they have people down in the sewers, and so far Cassandra does seem trustworthy...

"Here." You state, holding out the pistol, "Just in case I can't cover you."

Cassandra takes the weapon with a nod, "Thanks. So we're leaving through the sewers?"

You nod, "Your daughter showed me where to get in."

She snickers, "That daughter of mine, always getting dirty. I guess that's why I call her my little Rat."

"She is talented." You admit, giving her two magazines, before heading to the access door and opening it.

The two of you turn however, upon hearing heavy footfalls, far too heavy to be organic, and Cassandra swears, "Shit, Huntsman."

Something begins forcing open the door and you both slide down the ladder into the sewers.

You notice that the bodies of the two maintenance techs are missing. Something or someone took them and you can't help but ask, "There's no crocodiles or alligators in these sewers right?"

Cassandra snorts, "Nope, just The Boatmen."

"Boatmen?" You ask curiously.

"Yeah, there's an urban legend that if you leave a dead body in the sewers, the Boatmen come out and take it to sell the organs."

"They're organ-leggers?" You ask again, checking the way ahead for anything strange. Nothing, the sewers are quiet.

"They sell organs, but they only ever take the dead, and only those that die inside the sewers. But then, no-one's ever seen them. All I know is that if you die in the sewers, no-one's going to find your body."

"Great." You remove the Scorpion and ready it in case of trouble.

-"So what kind of pilot are you?"
-"So how did you get involve with The Red Queen?"

Cassandra takes the picture and studies it in the glow of a guide light, "Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me."

She hands the photo back to you, "The man in this picture happens to be the imam of The City's largest mosque. He's been working for years to try and get The City Council to begin an urban revitalisation project for the Slums, get them back into productive areas."

"If he dies..." You begin to say.

"Then not only does a good man get replaced with whatever puppet she has lined up, you can bet she's arranged to have the blame pinned on you."

You snarl, "Fucking bitch. So how should we deal with this? She'll have to have someone watching to make sure I do the deed."

"There might be a way." Cassandra replies as the two of you finally leave the sewers, "I'll have my daughter contact you with a time and place. I need to speak to some friends of mine."

"Thanks," you reply, taking the pistol and ammunition back, "Will you be okay without a weapon?"

Cassandra smiles, "Everything my daughter knows, she learned from me." She stepped into a shadow and you blink as she manages to expertly vanish from your advanced sensors.

Shaking your head, you turn and walk back home.

You reach the apartment building without any trouble but don't approach it as you land on a rooftop.

There, sitting in a clear overlook of the entrance and streets, is a hunched figure.

The Red Queen probably sent them as insurance, because there is no way this hunched shape isn't a sniper.

But the question is, insurance for who? Your suspicions about what Ian is caught up in become a lot more important now.

You stare at him for a long moment, then you strike him in the throat. Hard.

He collapses to the ground, desperately trying to breath, and as he regains his breath, you grab him and pinch him in a certain area, and he starts screaming as your steel-hard grip squeezes a group of sensitive nerves.

After several seconds you let him go, "Who are you?"

The man lies on the ground, sobbing in agony, and you calmly kick him, "Who are you?"

"J-jason." He whimpers and you kneel down next to him.

"Who sent you?"

He whimpers again as your hand strokes his head, coming down to a part of his neck and he screams out, "The Red Queen! She sent me to keep an eye on some kid, make sure he didn't tell the cops, that's all!"

"Tell the cops about what?" Your hand lightly squeezes his shoulder in a certain place, causing him to cry harder, "Tell the cops about what?"

He screams again as you pinch certain nerves hard once more, "THE JOB! She didn't want him blabbing about some job, I don't know what though!"

Kinesics tell you he knows, and you force him onto his back before tearing open his shirt. Your hands position themselves at his sides, and your fingers press into his flesh, before you pull up. Hard.

He screams again as you grip his ribcage and pull while keeping him pinned, "What. Is. The. Job?"

He's whimpering now, but he manages to reply, "S-some kind of theft. Please, I don't know!"

Kinesics tell you he's still holding something back. You release his bleeding sides, and stand above him, before you make a short hop, curl your legs under you, and land on his ribcage.

You are much heavier than your athletic appearence would suggest and there is a sharp crack as your knees make contact.

The sound he makes could very well be the purest form of agony a person in as much pain as him could make as you shift just enough that he feels the pain of his cracked ribs more completely.

"Last. Chance." You state and you stare into his eyes.

(Cont.)

He breaks. He breaks down and starts sobbing before finally beginning to speak.

"Th-there's a facility owned by Samsonov, the aircraft manufacturer. Red Queen found out that the Russians are testing their new Vampire there. She wants that helicopter, plans on selling it to the Red Chinese, says it'll net her millions."

He sobs again, "She's been getting a bunch of kids together, using them to get the helicopter. That's all I know, I swear! I was just sent here to keep an eye on this one kid."

"And kill him if he told anyone else." You state coldly, getting off his chest as the man nods, "Unfortunately for you, I can't allow that."

His eyes widen as he stares at you, "No...No, you can't do this! You kill me, the Red Queen will take you to pieces!"

Your smile isn't kind or gentle, it's a statement of your intent as you drag him to the edge of the room, "That's no longer your problem."

You pull your Beretta out of it's holster and throw him over the edge. As he falls screaming, you take aim and fire a single bullet, turning as his dead body hits the ground.

You pick up the Seburo C-X and calmly make your way to street level.

Once inside the building, you retrieve the spare key and unlock the door before returning it to it's hiding place.

You engage your white noise generators so you don't wake anyone up, and quietly sneak back into your room, packing away the sniper rifle and your other weapons.

You consider what to do now. You still have the broken Smart Pad and the DD-90S' neural core sitting on the bed next to your new laptop.

The Seburo C-X, one of the most accurate rifles in the world, and one of the most common, as well, manufactured by the Seburo Armaments Group, which apparently received it's name because the founder was a fan of an old manga.

The explosive rounds are also a deliberate statement of intent, designed to scare and horrify anyone who is with Ian when the sniper fires.

You'll enjoy using this for yourself as you slip it back underneath your bed.

How DARE she not trust Ian.

Do we even need sleep? Is it only necessary for repairs?

Sleep is an amusement, you don't suffer from something as mundane as sleep deprivation.

>Repair the Smart Pad

You take out the repair tools and equipment, and check the condition of the Smart Pad.

For being in a helicopter crash, the Smart Pad is in remarkably good condition. The screen is destroyed, but the internal components are intact and still usable.

You remove the screen, picking out fragments and shards before dumping them in the bin sitting in-between your bed and the desk.

With that done, you repair broken connections, replace a few wires, check the power flow.

With that done, you lock into place a replacement screen and turn it on.

The screen blinks on, and with a cheery tone it displays the logo for Armstrong Industries.

And then it brings up a login screen. Crap. But on the other hand, the name in the username field is title DrMWilliams.

-Put the Smart Pad away, see if Uncle Zack can help you with it tomorrow.
-Try and guess the password.
-Try and remember if you ever saw Mom's password for the Smart Pad. (Roll 1d100, best out of five.)
-Try to access the Neural Core.
-Fuck it, get some sleep.

>Try and remember if you ever saw Mom's password for the Smart Pad.
>Roll: 100

You close your eyes and begin searching your memories, before a file plays in your vision.

Mom is looking at you with a smile on her face, and your reaching out to her, specifically to her Smart Pad and she playfully stops you, "Ah! This isn't a toy, but here, let me show you something..."

She faces the Smart Pad towards you, and taps in a password, "It's my general access password. It'll let you use this if you want to play a game or read something, okay?"

You blink and the file ends. Turning your attention to the Smart Pad, you enter the password.

The Smart Pad chimes and it reveals the menu. Too bad Mom never showed you her admin password, but for now the files you can access for now should be enough.

You search the Smart Pad and find four files:

-File 1: M183A2 Infantry Rail Gun
-File 2: Project Golem Staff List
-File 3: VX-800 'Golem Killer'
-File 4: Safehouses

-Which file should be opened first?

>VX-800 Golem Killer

You open the file for the VX-800 and read what seem to be Mom's notes for it along with an image of the VX.

>The VX-800 is being built by another part of Armstrong as a counter to our Golem project. It makes sense from the business standpoint to offer a counter to this new product.

>This hunch-backed monstrosity is supposed to be designed to counter any of the Golem units. I'll list them by Chassis so I know what to talk about when it comes time for the presentation.

>To counter the Assault/Commando Chassis, the unit is equipped with a twin-barreled 20mm Assault Cannon firing APEX Shaped Charge ammunition. Heavy Armour and a combined hydraulic/EAP muscle system allow it to defeat the Assault Commando in close quarters combat.

>For the Pilot and Hacker Chassis, the VX will carry one of the most sophisticated Joint Attack Missiles in production, the Seburo JM-2 Jigabachi, and combine it with a counter-trace system, allowing the VX-800 to take down either of these chassis with pin-point precision while advanced electronic warfare systems prevent them from engaging it.

>The counter for the Infiltration/Assassination Chassis is a combined backscatter X-Ray and Infrasonic imaging system, allowing the VX to see the mechanical components of the I/A. After that, all it would take is one shot.

>I've made some calls to a few friends of mine in Kaiga and Act Of God, hopefully I'll be able to get some weapons made that should counter the VX-800.

>At the very least, it should allow us to be ready if we have to take one of those monsters on.

You close the file, feeling a chill. P-Father has access to this VX-800, you just know it.

As far as I know, railguns are loud, big, and prone to overheating.

I can believe the first 2 being written out by scifi, but thermal sensors might be a problem.

>M182A2 Infantry Railgun

You open the file for the railgun and bring up an image of the weapon.

It looks fairly bulky, not something that would be used in close-quarters combat, but as a sniper weapon it's perfect as your eyes go to Mom's notes.

>The M183A2, Kaiga's outdone themselves with this weapon. The weapon is still massive, true, and it requires a direct feed to a portable reactor if the shooter wants to fire more than one shot before replacing the battery pack. The noise, from the demonstration I saw in Moscow, means that the weapon is not designed for stealth. The heat issues mean that even with specialist internal cooling and venting system, the barrel has to be replaced after fifty shots.

>It's still an improvement over having to replace the barrel after five shots.

>Kaiga has found a work-around in regards to the noise issue. The Eagle's Eye Satellite Uplink Scope, a specially designed imaging system that links to the network of Kaiga-made satellites, all of them military, and allows the shooter to hit a target from several hundred kilometres away.

>I just hope it'll be enough.

You find some data for the weapon after Mom's notes and your system condenses them.

M183A2 Infantry Railgun
Ammo: 15mm Needle Slug
Magazine: 12
Damage: 15d10
Mods: Uplink Scope - Links to a satellite network, allowing the shooter to hit anything within range. +100 to Shooting Rolls.
One Of A Kind: This weapon cannot be replaced if lost or destroyed.

You move on to the last two files.

>Project Golem Staff List

This file is merely a list of people who were involved in the Golem Project that created you.

Project Lead: Nathaniel Eglan
Project Lead, Engineering: Marissa Williams
Project Lead, Psychological Assessment: Jessica Elfman
Project Lead, Materials: Adam Sokolov
Project Lead, AI: Anzu Hagane
Corporate Liason: Jonathon Grisham

What follows after that is over two thousand individual names for the staff assigned to each section.

You close the file and move to the next file.

>It's still an improvement over having to replace the barrel after five shots.
damn straight that's an improvement.

>Safehouses

You open to find a list of safehouses.

>Central African Union: New Mumbai
>Russia: Moscow New City
>Europe: Paris
>Japan: Tokyo Sky City
>China: Hong Kong DMZ
>Kazahkstan: The City, New City District 9

You pause. District 9...there's a safehouse in District 9!

You ruthlessly strangle the urge to squeal in excitement, comparing the address listed with the delivery address that the DD-90S gave.

You sigh in relief, they don't match.

-New location received! Mom's? Safehouse, New City.

You shut down the Smart Pad with a wide smile on your face, you have a place to start looking.

You can hardly wait.

-Access the Neural Core
-Go to sleep.

Also, I'm kind of going full shadowrun when I say I think we shouldn't access the Neural Core anywhere near this house. just to be safe.
>>
>Shower, brush teeth, Spend the night listening to Ian sleep through the walls...

You engage your white noise generators and head off to shower and clean yourself up.

With them fully engaged, you doubt anyone even so much as twitched as the hot water runs down your body.

After cleaning up and changing into a set of pyjamas, you lean against the wall, enjoying the fact that thanks the positioning of your bed you can hear Ian's every move.

You can hear his breathing thanks to your listening systems, and you spend the rest of the night just listening to the young man you love.

"I promise you. I'll protect you. No matter what."

The next morning you spring out of bed with a bright smile and meet Rebecca in the hallway. A knowing glance is sent your way and you burst into his room.

"Good morning sleepyhead!" You leap on top of him, your landing waking him up.

"Gah! Alice?" You giggle at seeing his surprised face, "What the heck are you..."

"Waking you up! So wake up!" You giggle and leave the room to get showered and dressed.

After a cheerful breakfast, mostly because you have a smile on your face that could light up a pitch-black room, you decide to make your way to Mom's Safehouse when Rebecca stops you.

"I need your help."

You paused, "With what?"

Rebecca's expression becomes troubled, "Ian's become involved with a crime boss, the Red Queen. I don't know what he's involved in, but I need someone I can trust with him."

Your expression becomes serious, "What do you need me to do?"

"I need you to follow him, and make sure he survives."

(And that's part 9. Part 10 will be up tomorrow Sunday at 9:00AM, GMT+10! Next time, continuing the Ian plotline!)
