>What is this?

Saiyan Story is a series of Choose Your Own Adventure threads in which you play a saiyan warrior. Decisions are made by voting, with the first option to get three votes winning.

>Stats
Power Level: 29,000
Health: Excellent
Ki: 100%

>Recap
After leaving the world you nearly died at, you spent a few days in space. You did some training with Fita, and got to know her a little bit better. Salta woke up and nearly came to blows with Spina, but you managed to calm her down. Eventually you reached a lush, green planet. You sensed fighting on it, but landed anyway. Now, several power levels are heading in your direction

Saiyan Quest 25: Saiyan Harder
>>
You feel the two groups of powers approaching quickly, each of them lead by a power that you would guess is around 5,000, the rest of them being at about 1,000. They pose no real threat to you, but there is the chance that they could damage your ship.

You decide not to wait for them to reach the ship, and instead rush to meet them. They come to you from both left and right over the trees a few miles from the ship. One group is in blue battle armor, while the other is in gray. Both groups are wearing goggles of some kind, which are the same color as their armor. They look at each other, then at you, all looking confused.

"Uh...yeah! We'd love to hire you!" he says a moment after recovering.

"Hold on a second!" the leader of the grays says. "Someone of your power has a much greater destiny than being a mercenary. Join with us, and our leader will grant you more than you could ever hope for!"

"For the glory of our new empire!" the grey leader tells you.

"Look, guys, it's obvious you both want to buy our services. So, make your pitch, tell me about your organizations, and we'll decide" you tell them.

The blue leader nods. "I represent the mighty emperor Ica, ruler of twelve worlds, soon to be thirteen. He has forged this great empire in only six years, and soon it will spread to encompass every world that exists. He would be very happy to have someone of your power working for him."

"Bah, Ica is a shortsighted full, only caring to rule worlds. He knows not what true power is" says the leader of the grays. "My master knows the truth, real strength is your own capabilities, not how many mindless sycophants you have under your command. He can help you realize your true power, and you can have all your heart desires should you serve him well."

"Grey guy, what does your boss look like?" you ask.

"The master reveals his face only to those he chooses" he informs you. "And those who look upon his true visage are forbidden from speaking of it."

"I've heard big promises before. What are you offering up front?" you ask both.

"Uhh...food, shelter, supplies" the blue leader tells you.

"I can offer you access to a secret that has long lied dormant on this world. You can help us reach it and reap some of its power for yourself" the gray leader tells you.

Alright guys, I wanted to lay out my ideas on possible outcomes of this

Since we're teaming up, we're gonna be part of the power struggle in this area. we can fight and get stronger while we rise through the ranks.

While we're part of this army, we can get scouters, ships, update our ships maps to include this region, get caught up on the politics in this area, find out what planets are safe if we want to lay low.
There's a lot of info we can get from this deal, we just need to not screw it up.
I know Frank is a Saiyan, but we need to chill and think Long.Term.

We can eventually have our leader start a war on Frieza's turf and while his army is weak we can kill either the leader or Frieza, maybe both. we can take over from there and make the galaxy a better place. maybe kill king cold, cooler, whoever else. we can set up a better system than what they have and have the first galactic republic or something.

Either way, our end goal is killing Frieza, and once that's done there's a power vacuum, so we have to fill it or risk another maniac taking it.
Its in our best interest to be in charge
>>
>>28531731
A: get the ship to safety
>>
>>28531819
I figure we stay part of this side long enough to take it over.

Better idea: if the gray leader is a cool guy, we tell him about Frieza, and say we want to take over that region, say we can do most of the work and we'll be long term allies with him if he puts us in charge of that area.

But this only works if he's a cool guy. if he's a power hungry dick I think we should go with it for now, but at the end we kill him too

You ask him how he knows about this power source if his men have scouted so little of the planet.

"I saw it in a dream" he tells you simply. "An underground cavern, holding a relic of incredible power. We shall claim it, and our victory will be assured."

Before you respond, images flash into your mind. You see a group of people gathered in some sort of cavern, and an orb flaring before the cavern collapses and crushes everyone inside.

The image changes, you see the same cavern, but this time there are two groups of people battling in it. Corpses surround the orb, which glows an eerie red. A cloaked figure stands before it, hands held over it, shaking with laughter.

The scene shifts one more time, and you see a single armored individual standing before the orb, raising a hand towards it before letting it drop to their side. The images stop, and you see Twodare looking at you curiously, apparently unaware of what you just experienced.

You wait for the full moon to come. String directly at it, you feel the change almost immediately. You feel your primal instincts rushing to the surface, just as you feel your body morphing. Your body grows, hair sprouts over every inch of it. Your face elongates into a snout, your teeth turn to fangs, your eyes turn a hellish red, and you let out a mighty roar as you feel your power swell. You see Salta and Spina have made the transformation as well, though Fita is nowhere to be seen. You trample through the forest towards the power levels, even more insignificant now that you have unlocked the true power of a saiyan. You come upon them, and you can almost taste the fear rolling off of them. A few brave ones attempt to attack you, and you crush them under your foot. Salta incinerates dozens of them with a mouth blast, and Spina flies into the air, landing right in the center of the arms and smashing any that are close enough to her. It takes only minutes for you to kill thousands of soldiers. You feel one of the two largest power levels coming right towards you. A single mouthblast from Salta destroys him. You stand over the carnage, and the three of you roar in triumph. But, you sense something. A power level equal to the one Salta just killed. That should be impossible, the grays left. You sense someone else with them, Fita... Her power level suddenly begins to drop drastically.

"Y-you shouldn't be able to dodge that!" you say in shock.

"You understand so little" he laughs. Salta and Spina stand on either side of him. You fire a mouth blast , and as he dodges, they come at him from both sides. He dives under their legs and comes towards you. You try to ki string him but he waves through them with clear ease. He gets close to you while he does this, however, and you unleash a mouth blast at him. The orb flares, and a forcefield surrounds him. He is thrown back, but unharmed. However, the orb shatters in his hand. He looks at you with absolute hate and unleashes an energy wave, but not at you.

The blast strikes the moon, which explodes into thousands of pieces. You sense all of the Sampans die, as well as Fluffy, their powers vanishing in an instant. You also feel your power decrease and you revert to your normal form.

"So I guessed correctly then" he gloats. "It probably was not wise to tell me how your powers work."

You telepathically tell Spina to go heal Fita. Her power level has shot through the roof once again, and she is trembling with rage and grief, her body wracked with sobs. But, at your command, she heads for the cave. You gently set Salta down and rise to your feet, turning towards Twodare who watches with a smirk.

You see images of Salta dance before you. You remember the day you met, when she pushed your face into the dirt. You remember your training together, your first kiss, the evenings you spent beside one another. You think of the child you will never know, and the promise you have just made. Righteous fury courses through you, and your power level increases vastly.

Pathetic. Do you think Salta would respected this choice? To run away from our problems?

You grab scouting goggles from corpses, one for each of you. You see Spina still punching at the corpse of your foe, tears streaming down her face. You walk over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She turns to you and falls against you, sobbing into your chest. Also SOMNIUS, you need to either be more clear in your posts or more forgiving with our enemies.

We chose to "order Spina to heal Salta" and suddenly Twodare automatically knows exactly what Spina is up to and manages a pinpoint shot while we're assaulting him at full power? AND you don't even give us a chance to attempt to block the shot?

Bullshit.
>>
>>28538382
Actually, you need to read the votes for the second healing option (>>28536456 >>28536498 >>28536506). Nobody specified whether or not to shout out the order. In fact, the only person to mention one way or another was >>28536531 and his preference was pretty clear.

It's one thing to deal with retarded suggestions from your players appropriately. It's another thing entirely to go so far out of your way to punish them for not going down the "full paranoia never talk out loud again" rabbit hole with you. What's more, to do it in a way that can't be prevented?

It reeks of DM powertrip, and it's worse than the retarded suggestions or the stupid "first to three" selection process.

And that's why I'm out.

"So, have I ever told you about the dragon balls?" she asks

I also think it's bullshit that Twodare was able to dodge three Oozaru at over 200k powerlevel, but once we returned to regular Saiyan form, we killed him in one kick.
>>
>>28538669
Well, it's gotta be a two way street, doesn't it? I mean full bloody victories withour ever losing anything or anyone important feels kinda power fantasying to me.
>>
>>28538713
The orb made him able to dodge, but before he destroyed the moon you hit him with a blast powerful enough to shatter it
>>
>>28538644
Redemption arc time? Dragon Ball shenanigans? Driver's license test? PTA meetings once we get Salta back? Learning technical martial skill to hone our wild power? Would Tai Chi help?
>>
>>28538746
Possibly, yes. Not sure what would happen to the baby if Salta were wished back
>>
>>28538644
No, not really. Its one thing not to coddle your players, but honestly you stack the deck enough against us as it is. Saiyans are powerful enough that a few of them can conquer entire worlds. And I think we've been to literally one planet where we didn't have an opponent stronger than us. And we blew that planet up by accident. When you consider things statistically, Frank is already horribly unlucky as it is.

Also, power level check.

>>
>>28538858

I'd agree with this guy. Reading the Master's mind was a stupid move, but I thought the reason why we picked the book was to prevent the players' from always picking stupid options.

How were we supposed to know Twodare was going to backstab us with the orb while we were fighting off Ica's Army?

The visions you gave us earlier in the thread made it seem like we had some decision power over how the orb discovery happens - guess we didn't after all.
>>
>>28538687
Well, it was really more of slow buildup that climaxed last thread: a little like watching a moron trying to level grind in Warcraft or something, for lack of a more articulate explanation. Poor decisions, plus constant enemies everywhere we turned.

>>

>How were we supposed to know Twodare was going to backstab us with the orb while we were fighting off Ica's Army?
I'm the guy that you are replying to, and you mean to tell me that we didn't know Twodicks was going to backstab us with that? If he kills his own allies to increase his power and doesn't tell us that...

>>28538997
>take thats
They were? Alright, fine. It's late, I can't tell aggression from peace anymore.
>>
>>28539039
Possibly. There are very few hard and fast rules about the dragon balls though. Remember, Kami let Goku use the dragon balls a week after they were used by King Piccolo because he felt guilty. Also, the Namekian Dragon balls used namekian years for their cycle and they definitely rezzed people several namekian years down the line anyway. I'd say that ressurecting all the Saiyens killed would be impossible, but if we limit it to like five of them it should be doable.
>>
>>28534952
I think you mean Launch
>>
>>28539037
I don't recall needing your body to come back from the dead ever being a rule. Certainly wasn't a problem for Krillin.
>>28538981
Y'know, having cooled off a bit, I have to admit that the possibility of Dragon Ball action is still stringing me along a bit. Even though I know it'll be frustrating.

Could be worse, I guess. I could decide to re-watch the Namek arc.
>>
>>28539037
Looking things up on the wiki it just says that they can't bring someone back who dies of natural causes.
>>
>>28539216
Oh, cool. Then yeah, you probably can do all that shit
>>
>>28539216
Well, who do we want back?

Not the King or all the Saiyans, thank you, they'll end up summoning Freiza too fast by taking over Earth. The Sampans, perhaps?
>>
>>28539216
Also, it is possible to return a person to life, although only if they meet certain criteria, like dying of unnatural causes or within the time-frame of a year (half a century according to the Ocean Dub),
>From the wiki
>>
>>28539322
Damn, missed that then. When did that come up?
>>
>>28539280

This guy has the right idea.

We can't just summon all the Saiyans back - Frieza would find out immediately and just kill everyone again.

We SHOULD return to life Salta, Portat, Fluffy, and the Sampan kids at the very least.
>>
>>28539346
In the show I forget where they mentioned it, on the wiki it was in the section under earth dragon balls
>>
>>28539346
where, that isn't in Shenron's page. If its a general thing, then the Namekian dragon violated it after the Freeza arc.
>>
>>28539358

This section.

I'd rather bring back the kids and the Elder so we don't need to babysit.
>>
Okay, looking it over two different pages say two different things, neither of which are sourced. Also, every other rule of those balls were broken at one point or another anyway. :TDLR Somnius decides what the balls can and can't do.
>>
>>28539361
Pretty sure the local Kami sets up the rules for their particular branch. Like how with Dende they just stopped giving any shits about rules.
>>
>>28539388
Well yeah. Wish granting dragons should always be subject to DM fiat. Rules lawyering such things is a bad idea. So basically Somnius has to decide whether or not reviving five saiyans, the highest of whom has a grand power level of 4000 is to much of a reset button. It's his call and I won't argue either way.
>>
>>28539422
Nah, it was the buu saga namekian dragon balls who clearly no longer gave a shit. "We upgraded them just 'cause nothing to see here."
>>
>>28539447
>>28539460

Tactically, we don't really have any better options than reviving our old team (minus Carros, that dick), or wishing for immortality (or something equally cheesy and should not be allowed).
>>
>>28539476
I just included Bardock's team cause I liked those guys.
>>

>>
>>28539567

>>
>>28539489

Why don't we revive all Saiyans who were off-planet when Vegeta exploded, and then bring them to our current location?

Carros will one of the weaker ones at this point anyways.
>>
>>28539577
Those Saiyans might come back with Frieza scouters.

Also, they might be assholes.
>>
>>28539589
You could add "without their scouters."
>>
>>28539577
Is already been about a year since that happened so were not gonna find them in time to wish them back. We might be racing the clock to get Salta back by the time we find the balls
>>
>>28539601
Problem is the "assholes" part.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but...
>>
>>28539577
There probably is a time limit. Lets just say that Toriama is not a model of consistency when it comes to the dragon balls.
>>28539630
Considering the power differential it really shouldn't be an issue. Still we can limit it to Portat if its possible.
>>
>>28539630
Might makes right in hat case, when we show up as the grand hero and king of all saiyans, with a power level around a thousand times their own.

We could do an ideal number to resurrect our race, we could even wish for a sustainable planet for the saiyan race to live on later, and wish all saiyans, and half saiyans, any mates taken ect, to the planet as well.
>>
>>28539686
I honestly think that's a bit too much. I tried to limit my wish to under 30 people primarily as a desire to avoid powergaming. My gaming is that you should be able to bend the rules a bit if you keep things reasonable but you should get smacked down regardless of the rules if you try to abuse things.
>>
>>28539686

Let's not forget that Frieza can take from us whatever we wish for.

Wishing for a planet and the whole Saiyan race back just lets Frieza kill everyone all over again.

Our best bet is to wish back Bardock's team, our team, Fluffy and the battletoads. That's probably the absolute limit in terms of keeping our presence as stealthy as possible.
>>
>>28539766
This. + I think its kinda abusive + restoring a planet is a whole wish on its own.
>>
>>28539792
We can wait a year for a planet.
>>
>>28539827
Why would you even wish for one? Just go to the Master's place and take it over.
>>
>>28539838

This is probably true.

Anyways, Planet Vegeta suddenly popping back into existence is probably going to notify Frieza about the Dragonballs 20 years earlier than we want.
