Last time, on EDEN City Blues,
You are Sergeant Warrick Locke d’Angelo, MC1309018, on indefinite medical leave from UNAAF and today is the worst day of the month. As a mandatory part of the draft, you were given a neural implant to interface with communications. Yours doesn’t work properly, and the powers that be decided you make a better case study than a soldier. They gave you an apartment up in Beta, which you now share with an old friend, welfare stipends you spend on pain killers, no way back into the service, no way outside the walls of EDEN again, and nothing to do with your life.

A man calling himself Fenix introduced himself to you, and pulled you into a mystery that you seem to be at the center of. You were given a Twilight Key that will activate in two days, and have been trying to track down Fenix. It's now three in the morning, and you're almost certain your insomnia is returning, but in five hours your power will be cut for the rest of the day.

Now for tonight's installment.

You are in the center of Zero-G, a space station imbedded in Myst, and most likely created by Fenix four days ago, from the ground up.

>Contact someone.
>Go back to Afterlife to speak with Barry.
>Go to Somme, find out about upgrading your Twilight Key.

Can I get a round of d100 please
>>
Officer Munn stood in front of his men, nearest the lift doors. His seven men were behind him, examining the new equipment they had been issued. They were slowly descending to Gamma. He hated Gamma. He pulled up his Augment Menu to check the mission clock again, they had five minutes to get in position and be ready. Getting down to Gamma level wasn’t the issue, getting their gear working was. He dismissed his Augment Menu and out of the lift door at the city, just a few towers away he knew he would find Liberty Stadium, but the towers hid it from sight.
This lift was supposed to be encapsulated originally, now only the support rails still concealed it. Years ago, when the towers weren’t all a uniform height, it was determined that oversight positions were needed around Liberty Stadium whenever a representative would be sworn in. So they removed the walls from the lifts for snipers, and never put them back on.
Everyone’s heads snapped up when the lift jerked and dropped a few centimeters, but it held together. In four minutes the power would cut out in their area of operation, to restrict the movement of the boarders, but it would also cut them off from any form of cover. “Secure your buds, your masks, and your asses boys. We’re here,” he said as the lift reached Gamma level. He grabbed his own gear before turning around.

1/8
>>
The buds were standard issue for use with Sonic Neutralizers, screechers, but the masks were new. Neither he nor his men had been given any training with them and that only ever led to accidents. Six of his men stood at attention and slapped the faceguards on their masks down, but Officer Goodwin was still kneeling on the ground working with his gear case. “Gregg, what the hell is the problem?” he asked as he signaled his men they could stand at ease.
“My buds aren’t charged, Sir. I must have forgotten to plug them in after the last raid,” Gregg Goodwin said as he glanced between Munn’s feet and his gear case.
Munn sighed. “Men, do any of you have a spare set of buds for Gregg?” A quick chorus of “No, Sir,” followed and Gregg hung his head lower. The buds were designed for to exactly cancel the frequency of the screechers so he and his men wouldn’t be affected by the attack. Without them, they’d be writhing on the ground just like the boarders. “No screechers. Load up on rubber bullets only. Charles, Steve, you’re in charge of cuffing everyone who goes down. Understood?”
“Yes, Sir.”
Munn walked back to his own gear box as his men did the same. As the squad commander, he was required to carry and be prepared to use, proper firearms and any type of grenade that might be needed. With only a minute to spare, he and his men lined up at the entrance to the lift. Each of them were carrying rubber bullet rifles and their sidearms, but he also had a compact rifle slung over his back, a flash grenade and a tear gas grenade.
2/8
>>
“Connect to Adam now,” he ordered as he slid his faceguard down. All eight of them instantly connected their neural implants to the masks so pull up Adam. The masks only had small eye slits to see through, effectively blinding their peripheral vision, but that’s what Adam was made to compensate for. After a few seconds of loadup and processing, their Augment Menus automatically appeared to outline every nearby object. Each of his men took a moment to look around and check the update rate, and determined that it worked exactly like the technicians said it would, like seeing through steel.

The mission clock hit zero and started counting up as the lift doors opened. Fourteen boarders were scattered across the train station in various states of bewilderment. “Open fire,” he commanded, and a hail of rubber bullets flew out in front of them. They quickly exited the lift and continued firing as they spread across the station. The mission clock was only at twenty seconds when all fourteen of the boarders were down. Charles and Steve jumped up and started cuffing them as his other men panned out around them.

Munn looked around the area as his men processed the boarders. The doors and windows were locked tight, no train was incoming, the cameras were all fixed on them to run Adam, the lift was the only available entrance to the station. Something struck one of the doors behind him. He turned, but Adam didn’t have the granularity for him to see, so he had to lift his faceguard. By then, they were already through the door.
>>
Two citizens of Gamma staggered out, one holding the crowbar they used to pry open the door. “Miles, Gregg, with me. Secure the area.” His two men jumped up and ran over to his side as he walked up to them. The one who wasn’t carrying the crowbar had a bent piece of rebar in his hand. “Citizens, I need you to stop and return to where you came from. Interfering with our work is punishable by indefinite imprisonment,” he said.

The two vagrants looked at him, they were smiling and laughing, but with a wild look in their eyes. One cracked his head to the side at a sickening angle. “Sir, I think these are CZARheads,” Gregg mumbled as he stepped closer to him. Both of his men had their rubber bullet rifles trained on the vagrants, but they would do nothing if they actually were CZAR users.

Munn thought for a moment and switched his rubber bullet rifle for his compact rifle. No sooner had he gotten his hands on it did they lunge forward. “Take them down!” he shouted as he watched the one with the crowbar jump into the air. Gregg stepped back and unloaded the rest of his magazine into the vagrant, but to no effect. The head of the crowbar crashed down onto his shoulder with a crack and sent him to the ground. It hit squarely on his armor, but still with enough force to crack his collar bone.
4/6
>>
“All men on me!” Munn shouted as he fired five rounds into the crowbar wielder. Blood splattered across the ground and started seeping out of the man’s clothes, giving him pause. Behind him, his men began firing their rubber bullets on the vagrants. He had to turn and fire on the other one as Miles was charged. Six rounds into the man’s center of mass stopped him for a breath, but he still swung the rebar up like a stick and snapped Miles’ arms at the elbows. “Lethal force!”

As he tried to line up a headshot, the crowbar caught him in his back leg. He was knocked to the ground, but that cleared the line of fire for his men. The one using the rebar took a shot in the neck and dropped to his knees, drowning in his blood. Before they could take down the crowbar CZARhead though, he roared and sprinted forward.

5/6
>>
Neat.

Reading.
>>
Munn forced himself back to his knees and shouldered his rifle. Three more of his men went down before he put a headshot through the head of the vagrant and finally killed him. Four of his men had broken bones, he probably had major damage to his calf, but Charles had taken a hit to the head and was having a seizure. “We need para medics Sir!” Steve shouted as he pulled Charle’s mask off to help him.

“Three of the boarders are getting away Sir, should we pursue?”

“Let me make sure these fucking pigs are dead, Sir.”

“Are we going to pull back, Sir?”

“Everyone! Get your shit together and get on the lift. Eve should have already called in paramedics for us. I’m calling in a God damned Kuzuri to get those last three. We’re getting out of here, and a team with real fucking weapons can come down to this hell hole,” Munn said as he spat on the corpse of the vagrant. Two full magazines of rubber bullets and thirteen bullets to his torso did nothing to stop him. He scowled and walked over to the lift, pulling up his Augment Menu to contact Eve.

He hated Gamma.

You’re already feeling like you used to. Your senses are all going a bit mute. There’s a tension in your body you can’t quite ease. It almost feels like your eyes are shaking. But you’re not tired. You can tell that you’re hungry, dehydrated, sore, and should be tired, but none of it really bothers you much. It only goes downhill from here.
You shake your head and rub your eyes to wake up just a bit more. Looking up at the shaft you entered through, you know there’s no way for you to bet back to the space station with the current physics, so you pull up the coordinates for the entrance to Myst and teleport back. When the simulation finishes loading your surroundings, you note that you’re entirely alone. Almost no one seems to be using the simulation, which has brought it to a very curious state.
Looking out over the storm seas, you can see dozens of imbedded simulations, just a short ways away. The devs must have made a system to expand the simulation area as more people join, and contract when there are less people.

The castle is heavily stylized in the spirit of gothic architecture with a bit of a Prussian look to it. That’s ignoring the size of it however, it’s twice the size of any reasonable castle and has arches and towers that can only be described as superfluous and confusing, but the courtyard is open and flat, and easy to land in, so you teleport over.

Looking up at the castle you note that a color filter was used. The warm sepias and oranges of Myst have been replaced by cold and dark blues. From the outside it appeared to be a place for people to pretend to be royalty and what not, but a number of tiny details were added contrary to that. A slow wind blows through the towers of the castle, whistling through abandoned halls, clattering against windows, and rustling the rotting hay in the stables. Every surface has the texture of slightly damp and soot covered, as if there were a number of fires put out by the rain. Even the soil is chewed up and muddy grass.

You can hear the creak of a rusting hinge from somewhere behind you, but the guard tower is closed to you and the portcullis to Myst is shut. The courtyard seems to have access to a number of areas in the castle.

You walk past the grand stairs up to the main hall of the castle, off to the side. The barracks are built flush with the walls and next to the stables. The soot buildup seems to be the strongest around there, and they even carry a slight scent of sulfur. Not very well added, but they still put in the effort for it. The nearest door to the barracks is smashed apart, with a bed thrown against it, blocking the path, but giving you a glimpse inside. There must have been a melee, because almost everything is broken.

A few meters away is another door, this one still in one piece. The handle is rusted but not enough to stop it from moving. Something seems to be resting against the other side of it though, but falls off when you twist the handle enough. You notice your shoe sinking into the mud as you open the door and try to pull it free, looking away from the door just for a moment. Something slides off the door as you pull it open and it tumbles out. The wretched thing lands against your legs, leathery and gangly.

It’s a corpse with its head nearly severed off. Its arms are wrapped around you and its head is between our legs.

You shout and jump back. It falls to the ground, its head landing such that its face stars at you. Three arrows are lodged in its back, piercing through the chainmail he had been wearing. But it doesn't move.

You take a deep breath and step forward, peering inside. Dozens of corpses are scattered around and rotting with blood everywhere. The corpse that fell on you must have been trying to escape, and died against the door.

You gingerly step over the corpse, and enter the barracks. The layout was a combination living area and sleeping area. To your right you can see dozens of destroyed bunks and foot lockers. Clothes, armor, plates, and other mundane things are thrown across the ground as if by a rooting boar. Nearby, you find an oil lantern tossed on the ground. Most of its fuel has spilled across the ground, but there’s enough to light it up, if you had a stint.

Across the room you see a table that had one of its legs shattered, leaving it on an angle against the wall. Faded playing cards are strewn about the area along with empty tankards and two corpses with slit throats. One of them had been smoking a pipe, and you can see the glint of light off his metal sparker. You grab it and pick up a wooden splinter. Surprisingly enough, the sparker is programmed to only work every few times, and even then it doesn’t want to catch the stint on fire.

When it finally consents and gives you a flame, you quickly open the lantern and ignite the wick, covering the cold darkness of the barracks with a warm orange light, which finds thin lines of dried blood that rolled down the walls. You slowly close the lantern to shelter the flame and raise the light up and up. Scrawled across the wall in the blood of the soldiers is a message. “This place belongs to the dead now.”

>>
One of the trusses cracks and you spin around, shining the lantern above you, but you only catch a glimpse of whatever was above you, watching you, before it dashes back into the shadows. You try to chase it with the beam of light from the lantern, but it moves too quickly, and dodges behind too much debris before running down a hallway into the wall of the castle. You run after it and look down the dark hallway, but can see nothing, but you can feel a soft and intermittent gust of warm air coming from down the long hall.

You pass the light of the lantern over the barracks again, and see that there is another passage leading out, towards the main hall of the castle.

You shake the lantern from side to side to see how much oil is left in it, probably only a few minutes’ worth. You’ll probably have to start rationing it if you don’t find more oil for it. Simulations don’t typically deal with darkness, they almost always want to show off all the odds and ends they made. If treading through the darkness of a cramped stone castle, stooping so your head doesn’t hit the ceiling, and counting the secnds until your flame gutters out was common, you’d have made a light program by now and saved it to your internal. Making one now, that could be painful.

The creature ran down the hall winding within the walls of the castle, leading from one tower to the next. The light of your lantern is enough to see the wooden ground, and follow the scratch marks of the creature as it ran down the hall ahead of you. The gusts of warm air are getting stronger as you wind around the castle, and you’re starting to notice a slight draft back after each gust.

You stop when a floorboard creaks, echoing down the halls. You hold your breath for a moment and listen, to see if anything is coming for you. You can’t hear the scratching of the creatures claws, or the rasp of the wind, but the sound of a chain swaying against a wall is carrying through to you. You hold your lantern up higher and let a bit more wick out to increase the brightness. Before you, the tunnel turns to stairs and doubles back.

The lower part of the tunnels are probably for moving between the various parts of the castle without being seen, and also where the dungeons would be. And certainly where you would hide something if you wanted it kept safe. As you retract the wick again, you hear something. Its over before you’re certain what it was, but it sounded like laughter. Someone is watching you.

You continue down the stairs, taking your time to peak around the corner before proceeding forth. The stairs wind back and forth several times before finally coming to a stop well below the courtyard. You must be in some form of spatial distortion in the simulation, the simulation is certainly larger on the inside. The room the stairs end in seems to have originally been a large natural cavern, or rather was made to look like one.

Far above your head you can see the glint of metal rails where people could be looking down on you, watching. The pumping air is strong here, and stiflingly thick. You can tell that it seems to be coming from one end of the cavern, where the ground slopes down and the stalactites and stalagmites hang like fangs around the entrance. In the walls near you there are several passages winding out like threads from a spiders web, and between them are prison cells. Chains and shackles hang from the walls and dried blood is flaking off the stone ground.

A wooden sign stuck to a nearby Stalagmite catches your eye and you move your light closer to it. Printed neatly in typical artificial font is a message, “Slay the beast, win a prize.”

You get an alert on your Augment Menu as you read the sign, it’s from Eve. You relax for a moment and pull it up to read her message, “Admin Warrick, I detected someone trying to access the simulation you entered yesterday.”

Before you can respond to her, something throws itself against the prison bars of a cell on the other side of the cave.

You snuff out the light in your lantern to the minimum possible, just enough to keep it lit though. The thing throws itself against the bars again as you duck behind the stalagmite and wait. The cavern grows deathly quiet as the thing hits the bars again and again. Water begins to drip off of stalactites, dripping and splashing around the cavern. The thing starts to moan, and the bars are rattling loose.

What sounds like static begins to cover up the noise of the simulation, steadily getting louder and louder until it takes more distinct tones. It’s rain. Rain is pouring down above you, soaking through the ground and dripping into the cavern. The temperature in the air dropped when you weren’t paying attention, probably due to the pumping air.

The creature stops hitting the bars finally, groans again, and slumps to the ground with an audible splash. Whether it is in a pool of water or blood, you don’t know. When it doesn’t move again, you start to edge your head around the side of the stalagmite to sneak a look, but you can’t see anything in the darkness. Your hands move to light your lantern back up, but something else starts moving in the darkness. It sounds like cloth being dragged across the wet ground, accompanied by the scrapping of claws.

In the darkness, you can’t even see yourself, but you know it’s out there, and it might know that you’re there. It laughs again. You’re certain of it this time. Then something massive slides across the ground deep in the cave, and there’s a stutter in the pumping of air.

Your hand was nearly on the lantern, ready to light it up when the thing entered. It slowly walks out of the passage and into the center as you retract your hand and pull back around the stalagmite. Your insomnia is starting to get to you. You can hear your dull heartbeat, every raspy breath you force out. The dehydration from the marijuana is setting in as well.

The only noise it makes as it moves is the sliding of wet cloth and the scrapping of its claws. Everything else is drowned out by the growing storm. The rain is building in force above you. You can hear little streams of it collecting and pouring down the tunnel above you. Some of it is dripping between the boards, but most is pouring down the stairs. When the water reaches the creature, you can hear the splash of footsteps amid the muted scraping of its claws.

Then it speaks.

“Prisoner. Look at me. A woman came in these premises. Where did she go? I command it of you.”

The creature that had been throwing itself against the prison bars moans again and splashes water around as it shambles to its feet. It does not utter any intelligible noise. Rather, it grunts and bashes its head against the bars. You can’t help but suspect that it was enough for communication for the AI.

“Well then, we can’t have her killing Rancor, now can we?” The creature laughs again. “Sounds like I get to liberate another brethren."

“Where are you, you weak little woman? There is something inside of you that I want. The master has given me authority to take it from anyone who comes here. And I want it,” the creature says as it begins walking back to the center of the room. Its voice is dry and masculine, whenever it talks you can hear bone grinding against bone. It also has idle ticks. You can hear it clicking its claws against one another, and a chain shifts with every step it takes.

The water is flowing stronger every moment. It will make your footing treacherous if you try to move quickly. The darkness is finally beginning to relent, simulated night vision kicking in.

Eve messages you again. “It’s the military, they’re trying to access the simulation. You gave Dr. Chase the coordinate, right?”

By the time you remove the alert, its footsteps have stopped. And so have the other ticks it was making. If it didn’t detect that you were there, unlikely since the simulation always knows where you are, then it may have teleported to elsewhere in the castle.
It couldn’t have just stopped. You peer around the edge of the stalagmite to see, but can make out no shapes in the darkness. The other creature bashes its head on the bars again and again and again.

Then you hear the snorting. The pumping air stops for a moment, and the beast snorts and coughs, churning the air in the cavern back and forth as it sneezes on the water and thrashes about in the darkness. The wind catches the damp and heavy clothes the creature was wearing, and rattles the chain, right, behind you.

It laughs.

The canon answer is because you could easily make one, but that would require using your neural implant and that is incredibly unpleasant for you, so you try not to if you can avoid it. Which would you rather have? A flashlight? Or avoid having a hammer smashed into your skull?

Your Durability : 66

You jump back and flare the lantern up as you spawn your ejection blade. You made it to look and feel exactly like the combat knives you were trained with in the military, six inches long, serrated, and pointed. In the new light you get a good look at the creature chasing you through the castle as he floats above the water. He is but a man covered in robes, with a rusted chain for a belt. Where he should have hands and feet however, they have withered away to vicious claws. From deep within his obscuring hood, he is laughing.

You lunge forward to attack him, trying to slice through to his center of mass, but find that his robe billows and folds and collapses as you try to cut it, and he merely glides back from your assault. He spins around the stalagtite, gliding above the water. When you try to spin and follow him, your foot slips on the wet stone, and you crash to your knee. When you look up again, his clawed hand slashes into your throat, picking you up and throwing you against the bars of the nearest cell.

You cough as you put your hand to your throat and find blood pouring down your chest. The artificial flow stops soon enough, but leaves dark red stains down your body. Nauseous and unnerved, you get back to your feet.

Durability 59

You reaffirm your grip on the knife and prepare to continue fighting him, but he’s much faster than you. If this were in Afterlife, you could have maxed your speed and strength for this fight, but it seems he’s the only one with that advantage. The man lunges forward, seeming to attack with his hands, but abruptly switches and strikes you in the abdomen with his foot, spearing you with his talons.

He kicks you off, but you manage to keep your footing. When his attack comes again, you manage to dash out of the way in order to avoid being hit, and get some distance between you and him, but it puts you right in front of the path to the beast, Rancor as he called it. You can hear it stirring below. Getting up and moving about, snorting and growling in the dark as it splashes through the growing water.

If you logged into the simulation, you could probably max your stats in a matter of moments. He wouldn’t stand a chance against you if you did that, and it’s getting early in the morning. You snarl and wipe the blood away from your gut and flick it off your hand.

His Durability : 27

You take a deep breath and boot up your neural implants connection with the simulation. The AI for your assailant trips up as the simulation recognizes you as an Administrator. You grin as you mentally max your registered stats. He resumes the attack just before you finish your work however, and catches you flatfooted. You have that instant to react though, and propel yourself to the opposite side of the chamber. You can tell his processes are trying to recalibrate for your new found skills, but it gives you the perfect opportunity to push off and attack.

Your fist catches him directly in the chest, pushing through the srange murk of his body, but you don’t stop. You catch your footing and kick his feet out from under him, by snapping his leg in half. As he falls to his knee, you slam the edge of your knife into his face. Something thin and frail shatters as you pull the knife back and kick him away.

His hood falls back as he rights himself, and you finally see his face. Or rather, what is left of it. There is no flesh left attached to his skull, and you crushed his face in, leaving a gaping hole. He laughs as his head begins to shake from side to side. Then it flips back and spins to the side, and another skull takes its place from within the darkness of his robes, with burning red eyes. “You will truly be worth liberating. Our forces will be much stronger for it,” he says as he reaches up and grabs his head forcing it into place

“How about I liberate you?” you ask as you point your knife at him. He cackles at that, but you have the edge on him. With the amount of strength and speed you have, the water flowing around your feet isn’t a concern, and you’re able to pin him to the wall before he can start moving again. You can’t help but smile as you stab his chest again and again, tearing apart the wisps of his robes before jabbing the tip of your ejection blade under his chin and severing his spine. You rip out his skull, only to have it replaced by a third.

You slam him down on the ground to stun him and smash the handle of your blade through his nasal cavity. As a fourth head tries to rotate out, you stab your blade down his chest and get inside his robes, and rip and tear. His body explodes in a burst of shadow, leaving you straddling air, panting and hopped up on adrenaline, just in time for the Rancor to lumber out of the cavern.

The Rancor is a huge lumbering thing with metal platings covering its hexapodal body. It stands as tall as an elephant and thrice as long, with a nest of fangs and a thick tail smashing against the cave walls. Water is pouring off its mangy fur and it sniffs the air until it finds you.

You dance to your feet, splashing through the water as you approach the beast. At times, you actually appreciate being in the slimmer frame of your female avatars. When strength and speed are both simulated, it’s simply preferable. The lumbering beast of scale and fur tries to turn to you, but you’re faster, much faster. Fighting the skeleton got you adjusted to the physics of this simulation, and now you know how to use.

You dash aside as it tries to snap its maw around you, landing on the wall and bouncing off to the ceiling of cavern. You push off and shatter the stalactite you had been resting on. You twist midair and drive your heel into the middle of its neck. Something crunches beneath you as the creature howls and yelps. Half of its legs go limp and it collapses to the ground as you fix your balance. But it’s not dead yet, so you flip your knife around in your hand and smash it into its temple.

The creature collapses beneath you, unmoving. You pull your ejection blade out and let it dematerialize as the body of the Rancor fades to shadows and drops you to the ground. The flash flood above you ceases as well, and ambient lighting fills the cavern. Unfortunately, there is no victory music for you, but someone speaks up. “Congratulations Hero. Release me to claim your prize.” It’s the creature that had been locked up on the other side of the room.

Go over there and have a better look at him/it.
Then ask what the price is. After that open the door if the answer is sufficient and he doesn't seem threatening. I have the vague fear that this may be some kind of trap, but i cant put my finger on it why...
>>
You walk over to the miserable creature. It was made to appear like a chronic torture victim. The majority of its skin is peeled off, only his index fingers and big toes are still attached, and scars cover everything else on his rotting body. But he’s currently standing up straight as if nothing were wrong. They had to put the prize somewhere, and AIs are harder to cheat the item out of than static objects. The cell door is rusted, and the keys to it are probably somewhere upstairs, but your strength is maxed.

“So you hand out the prize then? Lucky me,” you say as you grab the door and rip it off. You step in side, expecting him to hand the item over, but instead he lunges at you and tries to bite your face off.

An reflexive strike crushes his chest however, and he crumples to the ground, fading into shadow, and leaving behind a blinking light. Upon inspection, it uploads to your internal memory. Pulling up your inventory you find it to be similar to the Twilight Key, just a very small file containing a number and a description.

Knight’s Honor : Even a lifetime of torture cannot take your honor unless you give it to them. Redeemable for one (1) Knight weapon of your choice when you use your Twilight Key. Non-transferable.

Two Question, one "Concern"
Question 1 : Is the fight system based on any published system?
Question 2 : (Kinda unrelated to the actual game, feel free to disregard) Which Timezone are you in, your times seem kinda odd. [No criticism, i'm from Europe, the times are good for me :) ]

"Concern" : Fights take quite long. With the Updates every halve Hour they imho to slow. If there is a problem the fight could "slow down", ie players could make decisions, but otherwise it may better be over in a single "round".
>>
>>28042376
The combat system is homebrew, I homebrew a lot and like to think I've gotten good at it. It was a thematic top down design which will hopefully make more sense as things go on. Although it was a bit inspired by Call of Cthulhu

I'm EST, the worst timezone to quest in. But I run in my afternoon during the week to dodge my work schedules.

As for the concern, It also worries me, but I can't get a good read on when the dedicated votes roll in, so I always try to let people get their say in. On normal votes, I will type up the entire thing, check for new votes find none usually and then post, but with fights those votes also carry the result of the fight, so I have to wait for all the rolls to come in and then write it. I try to offset that by making the fight updates interesting, but I guess that's not really enough. I suppose I could just ask for like, a billion d100 at the start of every fight and just work down those, but then that runs into the issue when you start losing a fight, I'd need to give agency back to you. Which would be a big tip off to you saying "run away" which doesn't make for a tense combat.

The ideal solution would be me getting a better read on vote timing so I can churn out updates faster

I'm back for the night by the way

Sorry mate, the night is wearing on and I don't think my head is quite in it. Fire away on questions and speculation though. Targeted explanations can build a setting faster than rambling exposition can sometimes.

And I feel I may have focused too much on Eden and not enough on the characters to invest you all in them, so you'll probably get another short story next thread.
>>
I'm going to bump this in hopes of discussion tomorrow. Surely someone is piecing together a theory by now.

And we really need to stay focused when we go exploring for leads instead of getting sidetracked by "oh, shiny simulation. Maybe there is something inside."

We haven't upgraded our Twilight Key, we haven't found the usuals, we haven't interrogated the middle eastern guy, Chase hasn't gotten back with us about that sim, we have tons of leads right now, and spent the entire time with thumb up our ass.

Let's get a plan and agree on it, shall we?

I'd like to explore the simulation with EVE and DR chase's team - it seems like a giant dangling plothook.

What this guy says. Whatever we do, I'd like to get our rear in gear, get our 5-hour energy drugs in, and have Admin Warrick bust ass getting shit done -

combining the sidecharater point, it might be interesting if we had a character(like a spider, or an eve branch, or the sim-whore manager) working FOR warrickk so we get exposition, progress, and divergent viewpoints.
>>
I don't know if anybody is still here, but i have an observation: Blue said that the diameter of Eden is around 100 km in diameter and the center is near Cairo, Illinois, Where Ohio- and Mississippi-River meet, where the States Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky meet.

Mhhh, its quite Central, and the Place seems like a place where a Capital of an "organically" grown Country would be, halfway between the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico, on an great Stream.
Also, Eden is just some km shy of reaching Tennessee and not far away from Arkansas and Indiana, a good, Central position.
Its on East and Southernmost Corner of the Mid-West...
