>Dave and Garrod go out salvaging, and run into trouble after uncovering a strange new Gundam.
>More of Dave's past is revealed!
>Canon is thrown for a loop as Kai is awoken from his slumber nine years early, thanks to Dave.

With another member added to the unique family that is the Freeden's crew, the next chapter of David West's saga is about to begin...

So wait, we recovered Kai and his Black GX, but what about the ship that he was on?
We could have pick up deep sea salvage equipment and upgrade the Freeden with it so that we could recover the ship before Orcs could get it.
>>
"Alright..." you say, looking over the clipboard given to you by Shingo. "Here are the three Daughtresses, as good as new; just like you requested."

"Sorry about making you do this so early in the morning..." replies the bear of a man handing you the money.

"Don't be; it's all a part of the job." you reply, nodding. "You two; think you could finish the mounting please?"

The two engineers, whose names escape you... Rocky and Rind... or something like that... You hesitated to call them that, as you were sure that weren't either of their names.

"Alright... sign here, please." you say to the man, who obliges.

As he's scribbling down his signature, your eyes are drawn to the sunrise; the ocean and the city before it awash in beautiful shades of oranges and reds.

"Quite the sight, isn't it?" asks the man, holding out the clipboard, having finished signing.

"Yeah... Belgrass has really grown in the past few years, hasn't it?" you ask, smiling,

"Yeah... Humanity sure is somethin' else, isn't it?" he says, grinning. "the quality of life has certainly improved as well; there's even been rumors of settlements springing up across the Pacific Ocean."

"You don't say?"

"Yeah..." he says, continuing. "If there's any truth to those rumors, then a lot more competition in the import business might be popping up..."

"Probably..." you muse, scratching your chin. "But maybe if there's... I dunno, some kind of organization to help regulate international trading... like a merchant guild, but larger, it might help keep business flowing in."

"I don't quite follow what you mean, but that sure seems like a nice idea."

"Don't mind me," you say offhandedly. "Just thinking out loud, I guess. You have a nice day, alright? Next time you need repairs, look us up, alright?"

"Will do!" he replies, hopping into a buggy as three militia pilots head off in their repaired Daughtresses.

With that out of the way, what now?

>>27459153

The Trieste-class vessel that the black GX was found on didn't have anything of interest besides the Gundam itself; all it is now is a bunch of waterlogged scrap metal.
>>
>>27459176
>Head to the mess hall; time to eat!
>>
>>27459307
>all it is now is a bunch of waterlogged scrap metal.
But what about the reactor, main computer, and parts?
Even then, it's still processed alloys, not just scrap metal you can get anywhere.
You're sure that it couldn't net us a profit?
>>
>>27459339
The only part of the ship that wasn't severely damaged was the cargo hold that held the GX, and even then, it was running on emergency power; the main generator's toast, the computer's underwater, but the parts could be repaired, assuming that the parts to repair them are available. While Gundams are indeed a rarity in terms of mobile suits, parts for vessels from the 7th Space War and earlier are hard to come by, hence the advent of land battleships tailor-made by Vultures, such as the Alps-class.

>Also, writing...
>>
>>27459339
Yeah, we could get us some decent cash if we salvaged all that metal, if we're unable to get the reactor, guns or whatever.
Maybe we could get those guys that we sold the Daughtresses to work on that, if we're unable to do it ourselves. Recycling materials would be a nifty business in the post-apocalyptic world, and we could start one.
>>
You decide to head to the mess hall to eat some much-needed breakfast, when you're treated to an unusual sight; Witz and Roybea, the only other Mobile Suit Pilots under the Freeden's employ, eating in the mess hall, with the rest of the crew, no less!

You walk over to greet them, tray in hand.

"Yo; didn't expect to see you guys here." you say, approaching the duo, who are oddly quiet.

"Is everything alright?" you ask, looking at the both of them. Considering Witz hasn't told you to shut up, and Roybea is sipping away at his coffee, something must be wrong, if they were this quiet.

>Try and talk to them; maybe they could use a sympathetic ear?

Since neither of them are responding, you shrug, and look for somewhere else to eat. No use talking to someone that doesn't feel like talking, after all. But still...

"Look... I dunno what's wrong, but you guys know you can talk to me, right?"

You're met with a quiet "Shut up..." from Witz, plus a smile and a nod from Roybea, who waves you off.

You return the smile and look for somewhere else to sit and eat, eventually settling for a vacant spot near Techcs, whose only acknowledgement of your presence is a glance in your direction as he lowers the book he's reading ever so slightly and tells you good morning. You return the greeting before you sit down, eager to dive in to your breakfast of buttery, fluffy pancakes.

Personally, you would have preferred waffles, but for whatever reason, the kitchen's waffle iron was on the fritz, so you had to make due with these.

It's not too long into your breakfast before Garrod bursts back into the mess hall, looking like he'd seen a ghost.

"Doc!" he gasps, running towards the table you and Techcs were seated at. "It's Tiffa! She's collapsed!"

With that, Techs sets down his book and coffee, and any notion you had of finishing your flapjacks is replaced with concern for the young Newtype girl.

Thankfully, it was nothing too serious; she'd collapsed due to fatigue, however, and there was also the matter of another drawing of Tiffa's...

It wasn't immediately recognizable like her rendition of Fort Severn, but the quality of the drawing was almost photo-like. Wherever it was, it had to exist; it was the Freeden's next destination, after all.

You mobilize along with Garrod, Witz and Roybea, searching along the coastline for this dragon shaped rock.

It takes you a while, but eventually you find the dragon-shaped rock from the drawing, down to the last crack, no less! Garrod had the sense to search this area too, as he comes up on the rock's position, but is clearly surprised, and perhaps a little disappointed he wasn't the first one to locate the landmark.

After relaying the coordinated to the landmark, everyone is ordered to return to the Freeden while launch preparations are made.

You have a few hours before the Freeden leaves for the Dragon-shaped rock; what will you do?

You take this opportunity to call up some of your contacts in the hopes of learning if there's been any Orc activity in the area as of late. Outside of sightings of Doza Bale and his Sea King, nothing has really come up. After confirming that there wasn't anything else they could tell you, you head to the hangar, to see if you could help the Freeden's engineers waterproof the Airmaster and Leopard.

The GX, both Kai's standard model and your modified Hyper-Spec were both engineered with versatility in mind; while the Leopard was designed as a land combat MS, and the Airmaster as, of course, an aerial combat machine, it made sense that the GX would act as a middle ground, and be designed with all-terrain capabilities in mind. The same could be said of the Divider Gundam as well, considering it shares a large majority of parts with the GX.

Outside of waterproofing the Gundams, there was also the issue of the Leopard's current disadvantage; while the Airmaster could stay in the air and possibly avoid getting dragged underwater, and the GX, Hyper Spec, as well as the Divider could operate underwater, it could only remain in the hangar until a way to traverse the water without it sinking like a rock would have to be devised... You COULD try to modify the Divider's Sledge and see if you can't make it a MS-sized surfboard of sorts, but that all depended on if you had the right parts at your disposal...

What should you do?

Try as you might, but your attempts at "helping" Kid and the others waterproof the Gundams could be best described as anything but. While you never really did have to waterproof a Mobile Suit before until now, you were certain you could pick up the skill rather easily, but with the resulting... mishaps, you're left doubting your skills as a Mobile Suit engineer.

Sighing, you wonder where you should drag your sorry ass to until the Freeden reaches its destination...

While the waterproofing efforts may have been a bust, you weren't going to just feel sorry for yourself; there was still the Leopard to think about as well. You call up some of your contacts; partially because you wanted to see if there was any updates on Doza Bale, or any sort of information they could tell you. Aside from the apparent fact he had a shitload of Daughseats, about eight to ten, or so... there wasn't anything new to report. The other reason you called up some of your contacts was so that you could get a hold of some parts for modifying the Sledge for use on the water's surface. To your surprise, one of your contacts were called by Jamil for similar reasons; aside from supplies and spare parts, Jamil requested parts on behalf of Kid for Leopard's underwater combat conversion. Deciding to kill two bird with one stone, you asked if he could throw in some parts for the Sledge, to which he agreed.

You enter the rec room, to find Witz, Roybea, and Garrod on the couch, while Sala and Toniya were standing in from of them. Roybea had three bags next to him, two of which he hands to the girls.

"Presents for the two ladies." he says, smiling. You sigh as you plop down next to Garrod. At least Roybea was back to normal, it seemed. To the girls' and everyone else's surprise, what were in those bags were...

"Swimsuits?" asked Sala, looking from Roybea, to the pink bunch of fabric in her hands.

Roybea nods in confirmation, a smile plastered on his face.

"Indeed. Since our next operation is by the sea, I took the opportunity to buy these."

"But will they fit?" asks Sala in return.

Roybea smirks, and shakes his head.

"Please. I have the ability to discern the measurements of any female I've seen. It is one of my many talents."

"I'm not too sure that's a talent to be proud of..." mumbles Garrod. Witz nods in agreement.

"Witz..." you say, staring at the long-haired pilot. "You..."

"Roybea... You... You are truly a God among men." you state, giving the man a thumbs up. You're met by strange looks from everyone, save for Roybea.

"At least someone can recognize my talents for what they are." he says, smiling.

Garrod, who was busy reeling from the revelation that his boss was some kind of pervert boggled the poor boy's mind. So much so, that he didn't notice the bag being tossed at him until it landed in his lap. Snapped out of his daze, he looked from the bag to Roybea, then again to the bag.

"Wha...is this for me?" he asked, sounding more than a little worried.

Roybea, for his part, tried and failed at maintaining his composure.

"What? No, that's not for you!" he said, gripping the arm of the couch. "Why the heck would I buy a swimsuit for a man? That's for -her-!"

"You mean TIffa?" you ask, your opinion of the man rapidly shifting gears.

"Precisely." he says, simply.

"That's great and all..." says Garrod, holding up the bag. "But I'm not sure Tiffa's the kind of person to go swimming."

"That's where you come in." replies Roybea, crossing his arms. "Out of everyone here, you're closest to her, so you deliver it."

"I guess it makes sense when you say it like that, but still..."

"Anyway," says Roybea, cutting off any more complaints Garrod might've had. "Let's just have some fun and get rid of all this gloominess on board."

"Gloominess?" parrots Toniya, tilting her head.

"Nothing. Just some personal stuff." amends Roybea, his laughter obviously, at least to you, sounding forced.

"But..." chimes in Sala, holding up her swimsuit. "Is this really a good idea?"

"I think it is, myself."

You turn your attention to the door to see Jamil walk into the room.

"Everyone needs a break sometimes, and it has been a while since I've been to the ocean, after all."

"Yes sir!" says Sala, smiling.

You smirk; whenever the Captain got involved in something, Sala's tune changed rather... easily.

So here you were, sitting at a table on the beach in a bathing suit with the guys, watching Toniya and Sala swim.

"Looking good..." muses Roybea, sipping on his iced tea.

"Yeah... really nice..."

Everyone at the table, yourself included, look at Witz like he'd grown a second head.

"What?"

"D-don't be stupid!" he retorts, his cheeks pink, and certainly not from a sunburn. "I was just commenting on her Diving form, that's all!"

"Hey," you say, smirking. "You're the one who said something, not us."

"You dug that hole yourself." adds Roybea, smiling.

"Shut up!" he spits out, his entire face turning a curious shade of scarlet. "I'm going for a swim..."

"Wrong way, genius!" you call after him, grinning.

"SHUT UP!"

The four of you share a laugh at Witz' expense who still storms off in the opposite direction.

"So..." Roybea says, looking at Garrod. "You did remember to give Tiffa her swimsuit, right?"

"Well yeah, but..." you hear Garrod say, but you're not really focusing on the conversation at hand. You could swear you hear someone else's voice from somewhere... It sounded really familiar, to boot...

>'Someone... Help!'

You blink, wondering if anyone else heard that voice, only to confirm that you were indeed the only one. That could only mean one thing...

"Oh no..." you mutter under your breath. "Not her..."

You could have written the whole thing off, but fate seemed to have quite the opposite idea that day.

"Hey... who's in that boat?" asks Kid, pointing in the direction of the Freeden.

You and Garrod squint in the direction he indicated, and your face contorts into an expression of abject horror.

"Tiffa!"

Crap... if the Orcs get to her...

Garrod apparently was reading your mind, as he heads for the Freeden, with you and Witz close behind.

By the time you and the others suit up and locate Tiffa, the Orcs had found her and were in pursuit.

You take aim with the Beam Rifle, and fire on the Daughseats in pursuit of Tiffa. They're fast, fast enough to avoid your rifle, but they didn't count on one thing; the fact you were a Newtype. You exhale, take aim, and... land a hit through the head of one of the Daughseats, disabling its main cameras. It should take them a bit to switch to secondary sensors, so they would be occupied for a few moments; moments Tiffa can use to escape.

"Garrod, get Tiffa and get the hell out of here!" you shout over the radio. "Go!"

"But Boss--"

"No buts! Just go!" you bark back.

Garrod hesitantly obliges, scooping up the boat in the Divider Gundam's manipulators.

That just left you and Witz against three Daughseats... for now.

Make that FOUR Daughseats, as the one whose main camera you disabled took the opportunity to fire a volley of missiles at your back, making a direct hit. You're unable to recover, as another Daughtress extends its claw arms, and drags you underwater.

>You are now underwater! You take a -2 penalty to combat-related rolls until you surface.

Try as you might, you're unable to wrench your arms free from the Daughseat's grip, and you're face to face with two of them. You watch as their arms fold over, and their torpedoes launch. Fortunately, you still have a grip on your Buster Shield Rifle, though it's currently in rifle configuration.

Would you really die here?

You curse, trying to not only wrench your arm free, but also attempt to use the Daughseat that has your Hyper-Spec in a deathgrip as a proverbial meatshield, neither tactic working as intended. In your futile struggle, you lose the Shield Buster Rifle, and the torpedoes are getting too close to dodge.

>'Hold on!'

You shut your eyes, fully expecting to die a grisly death, but it doesn't come... What does come is a cacophonous chorus of chattering, and you open your eyes to find several dolphins swimming next to the torpedoes. The moment they stop their horrendously off key singing, the torpedoes begin to wobble, then veer wildly off course! One torpedo destroys your Shield Buster Rifle, two crash into each other, and another crashes into the Daughseat restraining you.

Taking this opportunity to escape before the aquatic MS explodes, you realize just what had happened in a short span of time.

You were saved.

By dolphins, no less.

It was absurd by all accounts, but it happened. Granted, the Hyper-Spec is somewhat banged up, and you lost the Shield Buster Rifle, but you're alive, and that was what really counted.

While the remaining Daughseats regroup, you take the opportunity to get the heck out of there.

You shake your head. Your beam rifle's been blasted to smithereens, the Hyper-Spec is shaking apart at the seams, and you can't handle three of these crafty motherfuckers, Newtype or not.

You hit the throttle, and are thrown back in your seat as the GX flies out of there, far outside of the range of the Daughseats and the battleship that they launched from.

You ease up on the thrusters, and set the Gundam down in the hangar, flinching as you hear Kid do his impression of a dying cat.

After hearing the estimates for repairing the Hyper Spec, and the cost of replacing the Shield Buster Rifle, you did an impression of your own. So, you'd be owing Kid quite a bit of money, and repairs would take at least a couple of days to complete, if not more.

You decide to head to the hangar; you're an engineer at heart, and the adrenaline from your near-death experience today hasn't quite left your system. Besides, you do your best work after your life is threatened.

After reminding Kid that there was another GX on board they could use for parts and a replacement Shield Buster Rifle, he's rather ecstatic at first, but his excitement turns to apprehension when you realize what GX you're talking about.

"That Kai kid won't be happy when he wakes up and hears that we gutted his Mobile Suit for parts." he says, scratching his chin.

"He'll understand it was for a good cause." you say offhandedly. "Besides, there's still the Belphagor, right?"

"I guess..." he says. "Alright, that should cut down on repair and replacement costs... Anything else, Dave?"

"Yeah, actually..." you say. "I've got a few ideas floating around in my head after today's... shenanigans. Mind if I poke around?"

I think so? It basically makes it so the shield and beam rifle aren't one and the same anymore; it can be stored in the shield, but it can be wielded in one hand while the shield is in the other. It's also mounted like a more traditional Gundam shield and can be rotated and junk. We can also store an extra beam saber on that thing, so we can DUAL WIELD BEAM SABERS.

I was thinking something similar. We could go for something similar to the Hazel Owsla - two shields with guns in them (can be mounted on the arms) and a bigass cannon on the back. It would allow us to use two of those, and leave the hands open for whatever other weapons we want.

It takes a while, but you successfully manage to modify the Shield Buster Rifle into what you prefer to call the Buster Sheath Rifle, which you've paired with a versatile "Holster Shield" designed to store it when not in use. Not only did this shield provide more coverage, it could be mounted on the arm itself, rather than held in the Hyper-Spec's manipulator, freeing it up to hold another weapon, such as a second beam saber. Not only that, but the top part of the shield could fold into the rest of the shield, providing you with as much, or as little cover as needed. It was a solid, versatile shield design, and you were fortunate to have the materials on hand to create this thing of beauty. You considered building something else, but your adrenaline rush was finally petering out, and it was already nightfall; you didn't want to overstay your welcome in the hangar.

Probably the dolphin; Ennil's not a Newtype.

The white dolphin.

>Writing...
>>
You decide to clean the grease off with a well deserved shower.

You take your time, making sure that not a spot of grease or oil remains on your body.

Satisfied, and sure that you are indeed squeaky clean, you dress yourself, and head outside, the crisp night air greeting you as you step out onto the beach.

As you walk along, you hear the sounds of splashing, and an all too familiar screeching.

Dolphins. Of course.

And not just Dolphins, either; you could see Tiffa... and Garrod?!

Ducking behind a rock, you decide to eavesdrop in on the two lovebirds' special little moment... purely for... reasons... and things, of course. From what you could tell, Garrod and Tiffa were talking... to the Dolphins? What?

"Hey..." he says somewhat awkwardly, smiling. "Tiffa tells me you helped save my Boss out there today... Thanks, for what it's worth."

Garrod is greeted by a chorus of squeals and chattering, which causes Tiffa to laugh a little. You don't think you've ever heard her laugh... and from his expression, neither has Garrod.

"They say 'you're very welcome'." she says, translating their squeakings for the Non-Newtype boy.

They're greeted by another chorus of squeaks, and Tiffa shakes her head.

"Wha... What'd they say?" asks Garrod, confused.

"They're asking why we're fighting our own kind..." she replies, looking at the dolphins, then to Garrod.

"Well... if I had to put it into words... It's because we put ourselves into this position." says Garrod, looking at all the dolphins, and sighing. "It's not an ideal world we live in... but we do our best to get along. I think we';; find peace... one day."

They're met with more chattering, and Tiffa smiles.

"That's nice of you to offer... but I want to believe in humanity for a while longer..." she says, smiling.

"What do you mean? What'd they say?" asks Garrod.

"They asked us to come live with them." she replies, smiling; it's a more somber smile; something that seemed fitting for the young girl.

(cont'd.)

"Living with dolphins, huh?" says Garrod, smiling. "Sounds fun, but I'd not much of a water-breather."

At that, Tiffa smiles and laughs, causing Garrod to turn beet red. Smooth, you little casanova.

She stands up and OH CHRIST AVERT YOUR EYES GARROD-- wait... Oh thank god, you thought she was gonna strip nude in front of the poor kid.

"That's..." says Garrod, trailing off. Apparently that was the swimsuit Roybea had picked for Tiffa. It was a modest one piece; pink; nothing too fancy, either. Either way, it was certainly enough to get Garrod red with embarrassment.

She dives in with the pod of dolphins, and motions for Garrod to join.

"C'mon kid... you can do it... man up..." you mutter, furrowing your brow as you watch.

"Sorry..." he says, chuckling. "I don't have my swimsuit on. Is it okay if I just watch from here?"

"Dammit, Garrod..." you say quietly. So close...

If Tiffa is disappointed, she doesn't show it, and she proceeds to play in the water with the others. Eventually, she surfaces, along with another familiar, if nonhuman face...

"The white dolphin..." you breathe. So it WAS her that saved your skin...

"So you were protecting her, huh?" says Tiffa... looking to the dolphin pod, who chatter in what you can only assume was confirmation.

The white dolphin swims over to Tiffa, and unlike her brethren, is unusually silent... at least until she and the others looks skyward, drawing everyone's attention to the moon.

What you all see stuns you, Garrod, and Tiffa.

"A... Satellite System uplink?"

Was it another Gundam X?

Another Newtype?

Tonight was a night of questions and more questions... and you weren't sure about how to handle them all. For now, your bed was beckoning, and sleep sounded like a good idea.

Still... What should you do?

The moment that white one starts spouting that "I hate humans" malarkey, I hope we bop her on the bottlenose.

Rather than go immediately to Jamil with what you've seen, you decide to stick around, focusing your attention on the white dolphin.

>'Things like this... Are why I hate humans.'

"You... hate humans?" asks Tiffa. "Why?"

>'Because your people are violent... evil... you hurt others like you... it makes no sense... I cannot understand why you do such things...'

Oh fuck that pretentious "humanity is evil" bullcrap.

"Then why not try?" you say, emerging from your hiding place. "Why not try to understand us?"

Any surprise Tiffa has at seeing you is lost as she turns to the white dolphin as she "speaks" again.

>'Because you are not worth understanding.'

"Now wait just a minute--"

and before you can say anything else, the dolphins swim away, the white one included, just as the light from the satellite uplink fades.

"Boss?" says Garrod, looking at you, clearly confused. "How long have you been there?"

"Long enough to hear how much the overgrown guppy hates us humans, and to see the Satellite System Uplink." you say, scowling. It's an expression you don't wear often, and for good reason; Garrod and Tiffa look at you, with a mixture of fear and surprise.

"Head back to the Freeden and gets some rest." you say, sighing. "I'll tell Jamil what we've seen here tonight. This is too important for him not to hear about."

They comply, and Garrod makes sure to grab her discarded clothes, while leading Tiffa by her hand back to the Freeden.

You sigh, looking at the moon where the light had originated from. Something big was going down, and you aimed to find out just what that was...

>Gonna have to stop here for tonight. It's past midnight over here, and thread traffic's at a standstill. Hopefully the thread will still be here by tomorrow. If not, this is at least a good place to end the thread on.

Alright OP. See you tomorrow... maybe. Probably not, but oh well. Was a fun thread, at least.
>>
>>27478361
Sure thing man. See you next time.

Stupid dolphins.

I still say that dolphin is responsible for the Black History. Nobody ever said the Turn-A's pilot was human...

See ya next time man, and thanks again for doing this.

That's one smug looking dolphin.

I hate people like that. I really do.

That fucking dolphin doesn't know shit.

Fighting against others, and even those of your own species, hurting others like yourself, are all perfectly normal and natural in the world, especially among primates such as us.
And let's not forget the slaver ants and all of the insects and animals like them.
>>
>>27482838
Yeah.

There's also the fact that, while more people certainly die from violence today than say, 500 years ago, as a whole in terms of proportion, humans are less likely to harm one another through violence.

And it's a DOLPHIN trying to play the morality card; the species that we know kills porpoises for fun, rapes, and are the douchebags of the sea.
>>
>>27482993
yeah, their rape cave is quite scary.

Now I'm having flashbacks.

Dolphins are horrible, evil creatures. Seriously, they're just awful in every way, and people only like them because their skulls are shaped in a way that make it look like they're constantly grinning (which is pretty horrifying, if you ask me). Leave none alive.
>>
>>27482993
Good thing Tiffa didn't go to live with them or some shit.
We need to educate these children, and fast.

The dolphins will laugh it off by claiming their primitive cousins do that. Or its fun. Or eugenics, ala Jovians.

Dear god.

oh dear

Man, dolphins are dicks. We need to instruct Garrod to punch them in the face on sight, if he wants to keep his girl.

Alright folks; for those of you expecting the quest to continue tonight, sorry to disappoint you guys; I dunno whether it was something I ate or whatever, but I'm feeling really queasy. I'm just hoping it's the Taco Bell shits, but I'm feeling kind of too lousy for it to just be that.

Hopefully I'll recover by next weekend, but for now, that's all for Episode 5. In lieu of continuing the story, however, feel free to ask any questions you guys might have until... 10 PM PST.
>>
>>27493458
Sounds like food poisoning, maybe? I have bad luck with Taco Bell myself, so I hesitate to eat there, or order from the drive-thru.

Either way, I hope you feel better soon, man.

Me too... Guess the Q& A session idea was a bust; thread traffic must be dead again.

Ah well.
