LAST TIME ON GUNDAM AGE QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/24623038/
-----------------------
Your name is Jack Crocker and yesterday you fixed a Gundam, Got stolen with said Gundam by space pirates, Got chased around by your murderous substitute teacher who was probably an alien terrorist and killed him in an epic elevator battle where you proved Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space. After that you were detained by the officials and were forced to choose between going to jail or helping capture a mutineer by the name of Grodrek Ainoa.

You could say you have a pretty fucked up Friday.

It is Saturday morning and You are lying in bed with aviator goggles, a cape and your clothes from yesterday on having just woken up to your alarm clock at 8:00 AM like you planned too. Your bags are packed to leave, but you and your father don’t have to be at the base till 12:00 AM and you don’t have to leave the Zarth Colony until 2:00 PM so you have some time to burn.

You smell something particularly delicious coming from down stairs.

What do you do now Jack?
>>
>>24642609
Oh and your a 15 year old with a beard and chest hair.

Here are your current Skills:

History: 80%
Science/Chemistry: Basic 80%
Language/Literacy: English 92 %
Computers: 85%
Engineering: 50%
Swimming: 5% (Hydrophobic)
Athletics 50%
Piloting: 13% (+40% while MADNUG, Mag is active)
>>
Head down and get breakfast while watching the news.
>>
>>24642609
Masturbate in the shower
>>
>>24642609

We need to work on making a program to analyse that Combat Data we got from Mag.
It should give us specific points to train on.

We shall multi-task by doing this while partaking of Breakfast.
>>
>>24642711
You look around your room, smiling in the knowledge that your LARP Box is now a pile of ashes in the driveway and decide to head downstairs to see what Mom has cooked up. You walk into the dining room to see a massive collection of food on the Dinner Table. All your favorites are there, most of it isn’t remotely breakfast related but who cares?
You see your Mom and Dad already sitting down and eating at the table.
“Your Mom went out of her way to make us a feast before we left kiddo, so make sure you eat your weights worth. I don’t think we’ll be getting anything like this for a while” Your father says, before devouring a slice of fresh baked pizza.
“You need to pain some weight, if you’re going to be fighting you’ll be losing a lot more of it. So make sure you eat more from now on” your Mother says warmly.
“Thanks Mom! I’ll make sure to eat what I can…” You sit down and help yourself to the delicious food, all while the news plays in the back ground.
“Last night the Zarth Museum of Colonial History was broken into and a priceless mobile suit called a ‘Gundam” was stolen. However the men responsible were killed and the Mobile Suit they stole was said to have been leaving the scene when it was detained by local Federation Forces. Officials have said nothing about who was piloting the suit, but assured us that the Mobile Suit was acting with the best interests of the colony in mind”
>>24642893
As you listen to the news you pull out your laptop and your phone, which now serves as the control device for your Gundam's on board A.I which you have come to call Mag, because MADNUG was too long.

(Roll 1d100 against your Computers skill, anything 85% or lower will succeed in completing the first part of the program)

You make very good progress on the program, you not only finish the first part but the second part as well. The format the data is in is complex, but at the same time very easy to work with and analyze.

Ma G is pretty helpful. "Once this program is full functional, I will be able to analyze and estimate the strengths and weaknesses of you and your enemies providing enough data is available"

Your mother looks likes she wants to say something about working at the table, but she understands that you'll be going off to fight soon and she seems to trust that whatever your doing is important.

(Combat Data Analysis Program 2/3's finished)

It is now 8:30 A.M you have three and a half hours of free time before you have to report to the federation base with your father.

What will you do Jake? (not Jack, sorry about that)

finishing the program should take no more than about half an hour...

we should also talk to dad about piloting, and useful tips for rookies...
>>
See if you can find a new color scheme for the Gundam. That old paint job needs an upgrade. Maybe you can Megas XLR it.
>>
>>24643162
Nah, Gurren Lagann scheme.
Fitting for THE BLACK DEVIL.
>>
>>24643162

we could always paint it BLACK!!! it will be good camo for SPACE battles...
>>
>>24643206
Not really going to work when everyone is using sensors. May as well paint it red for the speed boost.

>>24643111
do this as we talk with dad.
>>
>>24643211

touche... though we could paint it Nachtmaren colours... Black base with a Skeleton Motif over the whole suit....

Also, I'm sure you meant PINK for 3xfaster
>>
>>24643239
What kind of games have you been playing? Red always goes faster.
>>
>>24643230
I see your problem.
Here's our quest for tonight: Use the Gundam to raid a few paint factories in order to paint it in the Gurren Lagann scheme.
>>
>>24643250

Reffering to Char Aznable. All his suits go 3xfaster, and they are all PINK!!! despite being known as the Red Comet....
>>
>>24643250
But purple is invisible.
>>
>>24643271

and Blue is lucky...
>>
>>24643145
You continue to load up and food and spend some time with mom and dad. You finish up the Combat Data Analysis Program while asking your Dad about piloting tips.

"It'd take too long to give you any detailed tips, but all pilots need to know their machine. If you don't know what your machine can and can't do, then your in a heap of trouble when you fight
someone who does."
>>24643111
>>24643125

Once the program is finished you send it to Ma G and get up from the kitchen table, your belly full to the brim with food. Kissing your mother on the head you walk outside and look up and down the streets of your neighborhood.

You begin to walk around, indulging in nostalgia, or at least what a 15 year old could consider nostalgia. You walk by the school, the play ground, that shitty vegetarian grocery store and the video arcade you spent an entire summer inside.
>>24643206
While your somewhat saddened and conflicted about leaving, your still pretty pumped about the Gundam. It's paint job is cool, but considering you want to be called the Black Devil, maybe it should be something, you know. Black? You make a mental note to throw something together in photoshop when you get the chance. A skeleton motif might be cool, but you might get a shitty skeleton based nickname, even if that skeleton motif is from that awesome dream you had. Regardless your sure you could steal some paint once your onboard the Darwin-Class ship. If your father can paint his Genoace bright pumpkin orange then you could probably get away with anything.

So what now Jake? Where do you feel like going?
>>
>>24643289

Wouldn't having a scarf run the risk of interfering with the visual field? A cross breeze could be our greatest enemy. Plus, it would rip to shreds if it got caught in the joints, and fuck up our movement. That's to say nothing about how it would hinder us in space flight.
>>
If we're going for the title of "Black Devil", I vote to include some lightweight, non-intrusive horn attachments on the head of our mobile suit. Make them red so they'll be noticeable in contrast to the black paintjob on the head.

You consider going to the arcade, but going without someone else would be pretty boring. Maybe Melis might want to go? It's Sunday, so she probably doesn't have any plans. Sadly you can't do anything awesome with the Gundam since it's back at the military base and they wouldn't let you waltz around the city in it.

Still you head down to her house and knock on the door.
"I thought you were supposed to be leaving to
catch some guy?" She asks credulously

"I don't have to be at the base till 12:00, want to head down to the arcade with me?" You ask with a smile.

"Lose the cape and the goggle and we'll talk"

"I'll lose the cape, but I'm keeping the goggles, it's a pilot thing"

Melis rolls her eyes and shakes her head. "Well at least your not a complete embarrassment now" she says as you fold up the cape and stick it into your computer bag.

You escort Melis down to the arcade and step inside. The place is packed, but you won't have to wait in any lines thanks to the over abundance of machines. There's old fashion joy stick games and even some MS simulator like games your quite familiar with.

You have 30 credits (Basically 30 bucks) on you at the moment. Do you blow it all now to play the real kickass games or do you stick to the small stuff?

What do you do Jake?

First, I want to know what Mellis looks like right now.

Also, we should spend the money on the games she'll like the best, I suppose. 2 player co-op games would be ideal, unless she'd like something more competitive.
>>
>>24646465

Well, shounen protags tend to be either brash arrogant and stupid, or beta, modest and quiet.

Melis is pretty tomboyish with a short boys haircut and a skinny figure. She has black hair, green eyes and with the right clothes and her back turned to you most people think she's a guy.

>>24646548
>>24646635
She likes competitive games. Especially the MS simulators, you friendship actually started over an argument over fictional mobile suits. The kick to the crotch she gave you the first day you met signified she wasn't gonna take any of your usual suave bullcrap.

Still, she likes a challenge and your one of the few people who can give it to her. Your best bet is the MS simulators.

>>24646550
>>24646515
(Keep in mind that I whipped this up in GIMP. I wanted to try to appease everyone .Some people wanted black, others red, so I tried to make a scheme that was mostly black but still had some reds, golds and such)

So spend the 30 credits for 30 rounds in the MS simulators?
>>
>>24646805

MS sim definitely. Hell, we might even be better at them than before, since we've actually done some real piloting. Plus, we could potentially level up our piloting skills.

And I suppose I can guess what we should say to a girl like her.

"Ready to get your ass handed to you in the MS simulator, or should i save you the embarrassment?"
>>
>>24646805
More practice is always welcome. Go for it.
>>
>>24646805
>and her back turned to you most people think she's a guy.

anyways we should probably play that MS simulator
>>
>>24646883
>>24646963
>>24647020

“Ready to get your butt kicked by a real pilot? Or are you willing to give me that date now to save yourself the embarrassment?” You say with a smirk.
“Don’t think you’re better than me just because you’ve piloted a real mobile suit. I won’t go easy on you like I did before…” She rubs her hands together eagerly. “I’m going to find out if all that special training I paid for actually improved it…”
“Excuse me?” You ask, raising an eyebrow, wondering what she meant by that.
“Nothing, nothing. Let’s get this started.” She says, hoping into the MS simulator pod as you feed the money into the machines.
Getting inside you close the fake cockpit and the screens light up, giving you a selection of mobile suits to choose from. Genoaces, fake non-existent Gundam knock offs and monoeyed mobile suits.

Melis appears to already have chosen her mobile suit, a high mobility cyclops like suit arms with a tomahawk, machinegun and grenades.

The Genoace has a heat spike, shield and a beam spread gun while the Totally-not-Gundam has a pair of swords, a laser rifle and machineguns built into it's wrists.

“You can pick where we fight, Debris field, Open Space or Space Colony.” Melis lists off the space ones as her suit is a space type, that and you two know for a fact the Earth levels kind of suck.

What will you do now Jake?
>>
>>24647317
open space. Gentlemen need not hide behind large rocks.
>>
>>24647317
Space Colony

I like the idea of decompression factoring into fights.
>>
>>24647317

Well, if she's going to be a pansy and get herself a stage advantage, I wonder how we can make this a little easier.
Plus, I'm suspicious about what that "special training" of hers is.

>>24647422
This is a fair bet.
>>
>>24647317
Obviously picking the Definately-Not-Gundam-Alex

Open space is the best one for our suit, but Space Colony is probably the most fair battlefield. Not-Zaku will destroy us in a debris field.
>>
>>24647317
Pick the NotGundam and fight in the spess colony, Gives us a chance to practice not blowing up our home, should we be engaged by the enemy at home.
>>
>>24647482

Unless of course, blowing up the space colony helps us win against Mellis faster.
>>
>>24647450
>>24647473
>>24647482
>>24647498

“Space Colony. You always abuse the cover in the debris field “

“And you always abuse the coral reefs on the Earth Levels” She states

“B-but it’s so awesome! It’s like I’m some kind of killer crap or octopus or something. It's not cheating if it's awesome!”

You pick the Not-Gundam and select the colony stage. The Colony is similar to your own colony in terms of appearance.

You can choose the spawn point ether in the residential section, lots of low builds and space, but no real cover, The work sector which has larger buildings you can hid behind, but the streets are cramped, or the military base which has lots of room and cover, but also lots of places to hide.

Your curious to what she meant by ‘special training’. You known Melis joins simulator tournaments to make money and have some fun, but she never took it that seriously. Could she mean something else?

What do you do now Jake?
>>
>>24647640
Pick the work sector. After all this is also meant to be practice.
>>
>>24647640
Residential, and we have to make sure to aim for the cockpit at every chance we get,
>>
>>24647640

If we're good at fighting in a coral reef with a bunch of hiding spots, we should spawn in the military base or work secotr for the greatest advantage.

She'll try to lead us into open space to make use of her suit's capabilities, so we ought to play smart.
>>
>>24647640

Military section.

Always plan at least two different exit routes and keep on the lookout for grenades.
Also, we have 10% piloting, and no bonuses. gotta keep this tight...

You decide on the military sector. This game isn't like the real thing, but it's good practice. (You gain +40 to your Pilot skill while playing MS Simulators due to your familiarity with them)

You spawn in the military section. There are a few hiding places, the first spot is on the roof of an MS hanger. With your your MS lying on it's 'belly' you have a great view of the residential area and a half-descent view of the Work sector but it's hard to see you from a distance. You could probably snipe with your beam rifle.

Second spot is the obstacle course, lots of MS sized pillars to hide behind, great for mid ranged combat, your wrist mounted machineguns could do some damage at that range.

Third place is in the MS hanger. Lots of mobile suits in there, Genoaces, Not-Zakus and Not-Gundams. If your MS isn't moving it looks just like the rest of them (thank you shitty graphics)

What is your plan of action Jake?
>>
>>24647908

This can give us some good practice for stratagies. Start off in the obstacle course. Lets dance with Melis. If battle turns against us, we can always take it into the MS hanger...
>>
>>24647908
head fro the obstacal course, if she is an X-rounder hiding isn't going to help at all
>>
>>24647908
MS hanger

They may not be cars, but we can still throw them around.
>>
>>24647908

Make way to the greatest vantage point and get a line of sight on her suit as soon as possible, trying not to forsake our cover as we do so.
Try for the obstacle course and get your gun's sights on her immediately.
>>
>>24647908
>What is your plan of action Jake?

Well, the roof is totally out. There's no way she'd be stupid enough to spawn in the cover less residential sector knowing we have the range advantage.

Lets hit the obstacle course first and keep the MS hanger in mind as a backup plan if shit hits the fan

You decide to head towards the obstacle course. There are plenty of ways out if things go south. After finding a pillar to hide behind and prepping your weapons you wait.

After a minute or two you hear the sound of a mobile suit approaching the area. You can't see Melis's mobile suit, but you have an idea of where it should be.

She's moving towards you. Should you attack now with your machine-guns or wait till she's closer and melee her with your swords?

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24648191

Her grenades will be useless at close range. I say we ambush with the sword.
>>
>>24648191

>>
>>24648289
You ready your machine gun as the noise gets louder as the MS gets closer. Once she's close enough to leap out from behind the pillar and open fire.

Oddly enough she's already firing her thrusters when you hop out from behind the pillar. Despite her unusual hindsight your at too close of a range for her to survive long enough to jump and her suit is shredded to ribbons.

"Damn it, couldn't react fast enough..." She growls as she re-spawns somewhere on the map. "I won't fall for that one again, I'm coming for you..."

Taking a minute to think you decide to weaken some of the pillars with you beam swords. You cut them at the base so all they need is a good kick to come toppling down. After weakening a few around the obstacle course you hop up on top of one of the 30 meter pillars. No one should be able to see you unless there one the pillars themselves or they’re at the right angle.

Suddenly you hear what sounds like an approaching mobile suit and soon you have an idea of where Melis is again. She’s about to pass near a damaged pillar, one good kick could get her mobile suit pinned. However your beam rifle could blast right through the pillars and hit her without risking exposer, but there’s not guarantee you’d hit and would damage a lot of the pillars.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24649137
Let's kick that pillar over on her. Wait for her to get to a point where if she dodges she'd have to dodge forward, right into the other pillar which we can knock down on her.
>>
>>24649137

Keep it sneaky. If we take down a pillar right on top of her, she'll probably just use her backward thrusters to dodge, leaving her wide open for a beam rifle round.
>>
>>24649246

This should work.
>>
>>24649246
This, but ride the pillar down. When she dodges open fire on her.
>>
>>24649274
>>24649246

Listening closely you time your kick until she's just moving in front of the pillar. The pillar collapses with the sound of scattering stone and groans forward. The sound of igniting thrusters is your que to smash the next pillar over.

The stone pillar falls and you hear the sound of stone on metal. Leaping down you find Mellis's suit pinned to the ground. You fire a burst from your machineguns and destroy the suit.

"Damn it! Your cheating!" She accuses.

"In a real fight there are no rules. You win by any means necessary. I'm going to be fighting real battles Mellis, so I have to treat this like one." you explain.

Mellis is silent, ether angry or contemplating what you said.

>>24649514
>>24649739
Deciding Mellis knows your tricks by now, you move to the MS hanger to avoid her wrath.
>>24649780
Once inside you look around for a way to set up a mobile suit to fall. However there not like the pillars, if you cut or damage one they'll explode. However you can move them around and position them, kind of like a kid would with an action figure.

You move one of the Not-Gundams towards the front of the hanger and position it in an aggressive pose like it's about to draw it's sword.

You move back to the back of the hanger standing beside a group of other not-gundams with you beam rifle at the ready.

Your left to wait for a good 5 minutes, all you can hear for a while is the sound of metal on stone...

You wait in anticipation for her to approach the entrance to the hanger, but she doesn't come. Just as you think about moving, machinegun shells rip through the wall of the hanger as Mellis lays fire into the hanger.

If she hits mobile suits you could be caught in an explosion. This whole place could before one big death trap.

You could fly through the roof and escape while she firing or you could try to gauge where she is and blast her through the wall with your beam rifle.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24649933
>But no cloth. That's extremely impractical to put on a robot.
The Crossbone Gundams had cloth cloaks covered in anti-beam coating because it was cheaper than making metal shields covered in the stuff. Just sayin'.

>"Oh, clever of you. That special training of yours paid off. But I've got you now!"

Running forward, you kick the Not-G you set up near the hanger door, sending it flying out of the hanger. Her machinegun fire immediately shifts, as if expecting the Not-G to come flying out. As she destroys the Not-G you aim your beam rifle and fire at where you believe she is. The beam melts through the hanger wall, casting a hot smoke in the air for a few moments.

You fail to hear an explosion and as the smoke clears you see a cyclops suit rushing at you. You try to take another shot, but you forgot there’s a five second delay between shots. It smashes through the wall, helped by a thruster boost and slaps the beam rifle out of your Not-Gundam’s grasp, which hits and ground and skids across the ground, stopping just outside the hanger.

Wielding her Tomahawk Mellis is already in melee range and ready to attack. You have very little time to decide, what do you do Jake?

Sneaking your way through the rubble you make your way out of the base and into the cramped city streets of the Work Sector.

I suggest sticking military for a little while to secure some training and a ship before going pirate. Also I would like us to upgrade our engineering/computer so we can repair/modify everything.

You decide to head home and get ready to leave. You walk back, leaving Mellis to beat up any of the poor saps who try to win against her. You say goodbye to your school, the Playground, the streets, the roads, and flip the bird to that Goddamn Vegan Grocery store.

You arrive home and enter the front door. Mom and Dad are in the living room watching a movie together, snuggling together on the couch.

What will you do now Jake?

You go upstairs and leave your parents alone. You grab your duffle bag and set down your computer bag. Popping open your laptop you begin to mess around on 3sama, people still raging over the pictures you posted last night. Several people say it would look really cool in a 'Knight like' paint theme. You make a mental note of that and flip open your phone.

"Ma G? How does the program look?"

"It's operating at 100% functionality. I have already begun analyzing the data. I should have the results by the time you reach the base. "

"Right. We'll work on all that crap when I get there.

What will you do know Jake? You still have 50 minutes before you have to leave.

----------------------

“God damn it!” Mellis yelled, exiting the simulator and marching over to the other one as the young boy who wiped the floor with her exited.

“That was fun!” He exclaimed in tone that was innocent and gloatful all at the same time.

“15 to 0, how the hell did you do that? Your just a kid! I shouldn’t have lost to you…” Mellis mutters, clenching her fists.

“Don’t be sad! Everyone loses to me.” The little boy takes her hand. “But I can help you.”

“Help me? How you’re just a kid…”

“We’re a lot alike. We both like to play games and we both like to win. If you come with me I can make it so you never lose again.”

Mellis looked down at the young boy, unsure of what to make of him. “Alright...”

“Don’t worry! It’ll be fun. My friends will take care of everything. We’re going to Fardain, on the way there I’ll teach you some very fun games…” The little boy gave a smile that made Mellis realize the boy was a lot more dangerous then she was…

And that made her want to go with him even more.

Well... shit. This is going to end with us fighting her for real, isn't it?

Anyway, throw around ideas on 3sama for the new paintjob so that we can come up with the design like in the pic here >>24650797.
While you're at it, ask Ma G about modifications and upgrades for the Gundam.
>>
>>24651745
this is probably our bets bet
>>
>>24651745
You ask some questions on what would be the best theme for the "Crusader Gundam" as everyone on 3 sama keeps referring to it as. After a few minutes you get a very nice design, Most black with red and white designs like some kind of dragon slaying knight.

You contact Ma G and ask her about upgrades, you have some ideas you'd like to try. "All the data regarding the Gundam unit, along with all the combat data up to this point is stored on your Mobile Phone. It is possible to use the data from the Gundam to make copies of it's weapons, armor and systems with the proper machine shops"

"That will make repairs a lot easier, but what about upgrades?"

"Using the data you could possibly design additional weapons and equipment. The Gundam was originally intended to be able to change and grow over time, however that idea was never implemented"

"Grow over time? That's a pretty cool idea, but I think I'll try to stick to something a little simpler."

"Very well, I will prepare to make any necessary adjustments to the Gundam"

You hear a knock at your door. "Son? It's time to go..."

What will you do now Jake?
>>
>>24651905

>>24651905

No time like the present. Let's roll.
Kiss our mother goodbye first, and tell her we'll be back.

>>
>>24651980
>>24652014
Packing up your laptop, you grab both your bags and head towards the door. You turn back and look at your room. Deep inside, that fear that has always held you back is welling up. You don't want to leave your home, your things or your mother. You want to stay here and have a happy life with Mellis...

But if you do that, you won't be happy...will you?

Taking one last glance at everything, you force yourself to look away. You go down stairs and kiss your mother goodbye.

"We'll be back" you promise and meet your father outside where a car is waiting.

"Ready Jake?" He asks as you step inside and close the door.

"I've been ready." You say.
------

The drive to the base was a long one, but now that your at it, the base seems so much larger, so much more intimidating then you thought it would be.

Much older men in uniforms walk around, Genoaces move about and Military Type Desperado's move equipment and weapons from large hangers to equally large trailers.

Your father pulls the car into the hanger where the Gundam sits.

"We'll be boarding the Armstrong in 3 hours, at 2 P.M, what do you want to do before we go Jake?" your father asks.

What will you do?
>>

>>
>>24652210
"Well I'd like to get some work done on the Gundam, maybe get in some practice, but I'm starving. Can we get something to eat here on base that doesn't suck?"

Your father smiles. "I know just the place."

He takes you to an old-fashioned diner nestled between the barracks and the armory. Entering inside you find the place is packed with veteran soldiers.

Your Dad takes you up to the counter. "Hey Bernie, how about some food for me and my bou?"

"Sure, it's on the house. I wouldn't want to charge the Jack of Pumpkins before he's sent to take a mutineer alive with his own son"

The man fries up some burgers, fries and gives you and your father drinks to go with, all on the house.

There are a lot of men here, all soldiers. Even the bartender looks like he has seen action. This would be a great place to fish around for info on this Grodek guy.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24652371
Bartenders know everything. So lets go up to the bartender, ask for a root beer, ham it up a bit, and ask if he knows anything about Grodek.
>>
>>24652392

Ah, right. With all these vets around, someone is likely to know something about our target. Write down pertinent info into your journal.

>>24652442

“Hey bartender? How about a rootbeer? After all I’m a fighting man now…” You say completely straight faced, practically making Bernie piss himself laughing.

“Anything for the fighting man!” he says, giving you a cold bottle of rootbeer.

“So what do you know about Grodek Ainoa?”

“Well I know he’s a Lieutenant Colonel who was Deputy Commander of Nora’s Military Facilities.
He’s a damn good commander, a former Genoace pilot was a grudge against the U.E so strong, it’s said it’s the reason he climbed up the military ladder so fast…”

“Do you know why he’s considered a mutineer?” You say, taking notes.

“Apparently he commandeered the prototype Diva-Class ship against orders. On top of that he took the Gundam being developed at Nora, along with it’s creator, along for the ride.”

“The Gundam and its creator are on the ship with Grodrek?”

“Yep! Flit Asuno I believe his name is. Why he’s probably no older then you are!”

That means you’ll be fighting against the Gundam and its creator.

You decide to ask your Dad about the Armstrong and your combat deployment.

“Well…the thing is the ship we’re being sent on is unusual…” Your Father frowns.

“How unusual?”

“All the members are ether new recruits or were transferred from other units or ships because they weren’t wanted.”

“So we’re going to be on a ship…”

“Run by nutjobs, washouts or green recruits. As for our combat deployment I’ve been given command of the mobile suits aboard the Armstrong, so I’m technically your superior.”

“What about the other pilots?”

“Rookie Genoace pilots from what I understand. Four of them, so that gives us Six units in total. At least we’re not being sent out underarmed”
Anything else you’d like to ask Jake?

You ask around about anti-MS tactics, but the soldiers don’t take you remotely seriously, even with your father around. However they do tell you about the crew of the Armstrong.

-Captain- Valerie Frizzle: A 40 year old captain who is presumed to be quite fucking crazy. She enjoys singing, seems unafraid of danger, and often refers to her relatives or ancestors during missions and engagements. She appears to be very attached to the Armstrong, almost as if having a nostalgic connection to it. She’s had some successes, but she’s proven to be just plain damn weird.

-Operator- Dorothy Ann: Fresh out of the academy, Mrs. Ann works completely off theory and from what she’s read. She once corrected a pilot that “According to my research your mobile suit should be able to land safely” only for the Genoace to be ripped apart upon landing.

Bridge Crew: Janet Perlstein, Wanda Li, Keesha Franklin and Phoebe Terese all graduated last in their class and sucked simulations so bad that their instructors passed them just so they wouldn’t have to be seen trying to help them.

-Genoace Pilot-Tim Black: Pretty normal guy. Sucky pilot, but he’s a standup guy. Just kind of flat and boring.

-Genoace Pilot-Ralphie Tennelli: A self-absorbed former athlete who daydreams more then he breathes. He constantly suggests he’s being held back because of his superiority when he could barely make it past basic training.

-Genoace Pilot- Carlos Ramon: The most obnoxious motherfucker in the entire Federation Military. His puns are so bad, several of his other commanders were court martialed for attempting to strangle the life out of him.

-Genoace Pilot- Arnold Perlstein: A whiny, limp-noodle of a pilot who suffers from headache, allergies and vomit spells while piloting.

-Engineer- Liz Batter: A pretty good engineer, too bad she’s a mute.

Overall, this is not looking good.

You not only manage to paint the suit in the bitchin theme you got off 3sama, but you manage to 'find' the materials and keys to the bases machineshops. With the help of your Combat Data Analysis Program and Ma G you are able to create what you call the "Cowl System".

By adding additional parks to the outside the Gundam, you are able to improve aspects of it without making drastic external changes.

The first cowl was the Anti-Beam/Memory Cloth Cowl (you'll think of a cool name for it later). It's covered with a coating you compounded from the Anti-Beam Chaff missiles the Federation uses. On top of that you managed to find an interesting 'smart cloth' that the Federation is using on a trail basis for camouflaging MS trailers. You can program any design or color into it and it'll change with the press of a button.

The Second cowl is the Solid Cowl. A heavy duty set of moving plates developed from the Gundam's own armor and based off the impact data your EM Crossbow did to that Black Suit. It's heavy armor, but it'll stop a battle ship grade beam blast dead in it's tracks. You made the armor plates optional, so you can have just back armor, just front armor or full body protection.

Your dad helps you as much as he can, but frankly he's amazed at how much you managed to do. In two and a half hours.

With your Gundam and it's new equipment loaded up, it's time to go to the ship for your briefing.

Any last things you want to do Jake?

You deserve better and you probably belong in a museum, in the respectful way, but you saved the world once. So, something like this should be pretty easy for you. Right?" You smile and climb down from the trailer.

"What were you doing just now?" Ma G asks from your phone.

"I was showing affection. You know, love? Caring?"

"I understand the terms, but they seem illogical."

"Well your a learning computer right? Maybe if you stick around me long enough you'll see that they aren't"

"Acknowledged"

You hop inside the car with your dad and follow the trailer to the space dock, where you see the Darwin Class vessel known as "Armstrong"

After boarding the ship, your dad shows you to the cramped room you'll be staying in and you leave your stuff while you and him head to the briefing room.

The entire crew is there, but the Captain is still not there to give the briefing.

What do you want to do Jake?

I guess... talk with the crew? Hell, we might as well. It's likely we're going to fucking die together unless a miracle happens.

Besides, they're all young adults. Maybe they're not as bad as they are in a certain edutainment cartoon. fuck everything.

The crew is pretty young save for the mute mechanic in the corner. There only a few years younger then you are.

Your sitting next to the four Genoace pilots, Arnold, Ralphie, Tim and Carlos.

"Hey how's it..." Carlo's says, but stops dead when everyone in the room stares at him, all giving him a threatening glare. He shuts his mouth and looks at the floor.

"So your the new guy who got thrown in with us?" Tim asks after a moment of silence.

"Yeah, he's the son of the Jack of Pumpkins AND he has Gundam" Ralphie says, staring across the room at your dad like he just met the president.

"Wait. You mean the guy who fought Woolf Enneacle to a dead standstill a few months back? AND he has the legendary suit who stopped the Colony Nations War? Maybe that bad feeling I had was just my bladder acting up" Arnold says, blowing his nose.

"So do you think of the ship so far? Is it as much a freakshow as it sounds?" Tim asks. "Aw crap, I'm sorry. You don't even know our names. I'm Tim, the guy with the baseball cap is Ralphie, Arnold's the walking medial journal and...

"I'm Carlos!"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP CARLOS!" Everyone in the room screams, causing Carlos to sink down into his seat.

How do your Respond Jake?
>>
>>24654723
Hmm, what if we build up data for the Gundam, and then have everyone train to fight it, plus us? Once we have enough data, our dad can use a simulator copy to try to use the Gundam in a way very different from us, to broaden the data range.

If anything, what we have right now is the closest we have to approximating the other Gundam, so know thy enemy, right?

secondly, introduce Head to Desk, and continue attempting to leave the room though it...

>firstly question why they have 11 and 12 year olds ACTIVELY IN THE MILITARY!!!
It's gundam this shit happens all the time

We're in a Gundam universe. These tropes fundamentally happen no matter how head-deskingly painfully illogical.

>>24654749

"Jake Crocker. Happy to know ya. Also... I managed to dredge up a little info on someone on the crew of our charge. Turns out, they've got a mobile suit a lot like my own. So I suggest you all get a good look at Gundam's combat capabilities and other relevant data so that you can at least get a heads-up. Sound good?"
>>
>>24654815

Unfortunatly I am only versed in the original UC series, and their reasoning was that they were Civies on a prototype Military ship whose crew were mostly killed or incapacitated, then forced down into hostile terratory, THEN inducted into the Military after killing HUNDREDS of Zeon Military personnel...

>"I'm Jake, nice to meet all of you. I'm not an experienced pilot but I'm planning on learning as fast as possible so I can pull my weight properly."

"Aw, don't worry about it. We're the laughing stock of the entire damn military, anything you do will probably be better then what we can pull off" Tim says with a shrug.

> I managed to dredge up a little info on someone on the crew of our charge. Turns out, they've got a mobile suit a lot like my own. So I suggest you all get a good look at Gundam's combat capabilities and other relevant data so that you can at least get a heads-up. Sound good?

"Absolutely! Send me a copy of the data later and I'll pass it out to us pilots and Dorthy so the Captain knows what we're getting into." Arnold says rubbing his nose

"Is it true we're going up against a new kind of battleship? And that the Captain is some of kind genius" Ralphie asks, leaning forward.

"I don't know is he's a genius but a lot of people say Grodek Ainoa is pretty smart..." You see Carlo's hands ball into fists at the mention of the mans' name. He's biting his cheek so he doesn't say anything.

You response Jake?
>>
>>24654878
There's always an excuse somewhere somehow in nearly every UC series. And then people just accepted it.

Blabla, symbolism, hope for the future, next generations, etc.
>>
>>24654977
It seems like it's a compulsion for him to tell jokes. Completely ignore him and wait for the captain.

So I dunno what this anime is, but maybe I'll see why it's awesome. Also saw that caped mech that you got the idea for the Gundam. Throwing knives from a mech? Well, okay.
>>
>>24655108

Tim is pretty normal. His distinguishing feature is that he's something of an artist.
>>
>>24655038
"I think I'll give it to Dorthy myself, I'll send you guys a copy to look over later." Arnold seems to understand why you'd want to do that and nods.

>"Well, Ralphie, I haven't been briefed on the exact capabilities of their vessel. If you can fill me in, I'd appreciate it. Whatever it is, Gundam's new cowl attachment will stop it's cannon like nothing."

"Really? Awesome! My uncle is a ship designer for the Federation. If there's a ship in space he probably can tell me something about it. I'll contact him later to see what I can dig up." Ralphie says with a thumbs up.

You turn your attention to Carlos.

>"Did that Captain do something to you?"
Everyone seems stunned you want to actually talk to Carlos, even Carlo himself is surprised your not yelling at him like everyone else.

"Not me. My dad. My dad was supposed to be one of the commanding officers aboard the Diva. He would never let someone take it over. If Grodrek is in command of the ship...my dad's probably dead ether killed by Grodrek or left to die on Nora..." Carlos looks away, obviously struggling with feelings of hate and grief

>>24654977

>There only a few years younger then you are.

I assumed you meant 'There' as 'They're'
suggesting that they were 3 years younger than us, so 11 - 12...

how did you mean that sentence then? did you mean 'Older' rather than 'Younger'?

Carlos looks at you and smiles. "Thanks Jake..." he seems to be a bit better now that you said that. You wonder if Carlos is as bad as everyone thinks he is.

Suddenly, the Captain comes out on stage and looks out at the crew. "I'm going to be honest Crew. This is about the worse mission we could have been given..."

"Well fuck....
