I had an idea for a setting where elves, dwarves, orcs, gnomes, fey and the standard fantasy denizens lived, but Human beings were considered mythical creatures, fairy tales for children, certainly just a tall tale from a board adventurer and nothing more

the kicker is that the players would be a group of human hikers lost on an expedition and found themselves in the magic world

any thoughts?
>>
Seems like that premise would get old pretty fast.
>>
>>23383347
how so?
>>
>>23383305
>just a tall tale from a board adventurer
Make sure they've traveled the entire wasteland, from the deserts of Ecks to the troll-infested swamps of Bee.
>>
I imagine the fey courts would be interested in the new arrivals, perhaps not enough to approach outright but enough to watch
>>
>they are like elves but ugly and have round ears
>this is the most boring myth ever
>>
Humans would have all sorts of myths surrounding them, like that they ate only ash, or were vulnerable to holly or couldn't move trough reflected moonlight

something that centuries of being myths would asrcibe
>>
>>23383480
>and would burn down forests for the fun of it and prayed to a god of torture who was nailed to a cross

its all how you tell it
>>
>>23383305
I actually am building a game (computer) with a setting like that.

They're not really mythical, just exceedingly rare.

Humanity went around and curbstomped everyone into submission into the Empire.
The fantasy races thrived for a while, then things turned to shit, as second (and third, fourth, etc) class citizens they rebelled and killed off much humankind.

There were a lot of survivors, at first, but while some of the more violent races went to hunting them down and the Empire fell apart, they found themselves with fewer and fewer places to hide.

So now there's only like, a handful of pureblood humans left, and most are kept as chattel.

The main character starts as the last 'free' human, in an orphanage and coming out without much prospects for a job.
>>
>>23383528
>god of torture who was nailed to a cross
They weren't worshiping him! They ate him!
>>
>>23383561
>cult of martyrdom and slavery that practises cannibalism
>>
>>23383502
this might actually be fun
especially if that stuff starts working
>>
>>23383588
imagine how they would react to accidently hearing a gwar or AC/DC song
>>
honestly a fantasy setting without humans in it is already a marked improvement of originality from the usual,
now get rid of the other standard tropes and we're golden
>>
>>23383624
Recordings of screams of tortured slaves? Humens listened to that for pleasure.

And now HFY. Glorious /tg/. Never change.

I like this idea OP. Make the other races freaked out of all the rumors they've heard of humans and their Crucified God, insane biology, weird habits, and impossible adaptability and badassery, coupled of course, with EXTREME exaggeration. There is just so many places this idea could go.
>Dwarf historians lecturing about the holy land of Murrica.
>Elvish scientists trying to figure out how humans built skyscrapers.
>The Fey fearing mankind's trickery.
>Holy Orders warning of the folly of Man and his Machines.

The elder Fey have stories of the strange creatures known as humans, Satyrs and Centaurs consider them to be lost fey-kin, long lost cousins of a cruel nature, hidden off somewhere far away, others like the sprites and nixies say they are the parents of all humanoid races, and existed in a time and place outside the world as it exists now
>>
oh shit I had an awesome idea, mankind actually got sick of all the constant infighting, and simply left via space ships, not long after we did this, fucking everyone got 2spooked because (to them) we just up and fucking dissapeared. Played a Homebrew where Humans were a hyper-advanced Precursor race. All the races saw Humans are mythical, scary beings that abducted people in the middle of the night, destroyed entire cities in the blink of an eye. Having human ancestry can bring great prestige to families in the other races, because of humanity's natural talent with psionics, and old technology can be accessed dye to genetic locks.

Party plays a group or adventurers exploring recently discovered ancient human ruins that suddenly became unearthed during a earthquake. BBG is a several humans hoping to pave a way for humanity to reclaim the planet, and is manipulating the party against themselves by offering subtle signs of favoritism (The races are divided/united in countries undergoing a cold war).

Humans are extremely advanced in Technology and psionics, with a high resistance to magic, despite not being able to use it themselves. Genetically enhanced, they are nearly immortal combined with their other traits. Its suggested that they have tampered with the other races in the past. Something about the planet interests them, and they won't let the "lesser beings" or their gods/spirits get in their way.

His dark sleigh can travel to every house an elven child resides on on a single night, no matter how far away they are. He will look for the un-holy sacrifice of sacred trees and plant and milk products to satiate his hunger, and will take revenge on the child he finds meanest if he doesnt find the sacrifice. The elks that pull his dark carriage throw sulphur and brimstone that set ablaze the elven forests, and light up the night sky like a falling star does. And the say that if you ever get to see the fiery tail of his carriage at night, you can ask a single wish:
That Satan Klust doesn't visit your house that very night.

The existance of the myth of Satan Klaust and his blurred simmilaryty to a dwarf, like his white-as-snow skin and beard, his ungodly hatred for elvenkind, and the suggerstion that he residest on the coldest corner of the world, were only a dwarf could survive, suggest that Dwarven kind was in fact a creation of this demonic being to plague the life of elves to come, even after all Men dissapeared with out leaving trace.
Or at least that's what the elven myths tell.

It is rumoured that humans are 12ft tall, and kill you with fire from their eyeballs and lightning from their backs. Those are the stories.

But let me tell you that humans look almost like you and me, and if you let them into your homes, soon all around you will be caught in their web. A web of promises, of threats, of money, and of power, all the while people in a town with a human in it never realising they have one in their midst while telling the scary stories to their children, while they get more and more under its spell.

Paladin bands try to get to cities that might be at risk and prevent such an occurrence, but if they are to late they will never find it, as cloaked in secrets and influence as it becomes, or if they are to soon, the human might not eve enter the town or village.

Beware of unknown travelers, and giving comfort and aid to strangers you dont know, for while they may offer you candy and wealth, you never know what they will take in return, and you cannot comprehend the alien minds of to forces of darkness, nor the duplicity and motives of humans.
