As Ned Salter, one of the newest manager´s in the XWF, we help superhuman fighters showcase their abilities in the most popular pay-per-view show in the human territories from earth to phobos!

After all, super people need money too, and donning glasses to work as a mild mannered reporter wouldnt really work as a disguise (in fact N! news would discover you within a week), not to mention you would lose your job rather quickly with all those sudden absences.
>>
So, points for today's thread (IIRC)

* Meet more of our fighters
* Maybe work on the TV show? (or we could scrap it. At this point, nobody's invested any money in it yet)
>>
>>21789115
The executives gave you the ok and funds to rent the two top floors on a skyscraper, actually. They expect four episodes, but havent given you a time limit, since by now Ned´s talents are being recognized.

I believe we should wait to see how trustworthy everyone is, tho. Ami, Python and Brass were "easy mode" characters I wanted us to use to get used to the system and get started with the right foot, but these new guys dont have all that power or work ethics, for a reason or another.

Of course, we can change that with Ned´s talents.
>>
>>21789198
right, so meet the rest of the fighters
>>
>>21789198

Excellent.

My original idea was to try and get things rolling before the New Challengers debut, but an ongoing series works better.

Best get busy meeting the newbs...
>>
>>21789235
>>21789250
Alright, let´s see... we meet Mara, Carlos and Michael, still need to meet Adan White, and then the jobbers, which I havent actually named/designed yet. Suggestions for that, btw?

I´m not sure if I want them to be normal humans using drugs to gain temporary powers like in the original setting. It just seems like that forced SO DARK AND EDGY thing ww likes to do sometimes. I was thinking in just low-powered novas that -could- be better with the proper training and motivation instead.
>>
>>21789303
Sounds good to me. For the jobbers, I recommend people who have low physical stats, but higher social ones.
>>
>>21789303

Drugs is lame, let's have some fun with Lame Powers instead.

I reckon one of the jobbers should have the power to turn his body to rubber. The result of this is that he's almost impossible to hurt... But sadly, his Aberration is an Always-On power, so he's never able to win because he's incapable of hitting hard enough.
>>
>>21789369
uhmm... could be a modified version of reduce density, with some flaws like "permanently on" to make it cheaper to use. Aberrations normally need you to be rather powerful since you get them by buying powers at 1/2 price or forcing your powers and being really unlucky, and that usually means you have strong abilities.

Maybe give him powerful abilities that make him technically very very powerful but not in a particularly useful way. For example, giving him massive regeneration and even the immortality powers tree?

He´s almost impossible to hurt, then he´s incredibly fast at healing, and if you manage to kill him, he just resurrects himself in a few minutes, perfectly fine. If he cant do damage, tho, he cant help but to lose, but he wont ever get permanently killed. Sounds bad for a star fighter but perfect for a jobber. Could even make a lot of money that way since he can fight however much he wants, too

Aritsu: "Boss, mister White called from the airport to check in about his arrival. He says he´ll come to the office tomorrow after he´s settled in his new house." -she steps into your office to bring you a coffee along with the news, as well as a printed report on the profits from the advertising from Python´s and Brass´s merchandising

Aritsu: "Kotubukiya, the company that made the last series of sculptures of our guys, wants to know when they can get started with the championship figures now that mister Wolfside has the belt."
>>

I have no objection to making money. Ho, and what about those two utopia guys?
>>
>>21789591
They may need a little more convincing yet. Perhaps a video call? utopia does pay their people pretty well so we´ll need an angle to get them.
>>
>>21789478

That's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of; A Nova equivalent to the practice dummy in fighting games.

The other idea I had was a former competitive eater whose powers are "eat anything and everything", with an appetite even beyond Nova metabolism. Joined the XWF to pay hiatus food bill.
>>
>>21789539

"Premium edition Brass Reaper champion models are approved. Which reminds me, how's the anime series coming along?"
>>
>>21789610
A chance to effectively serve as the "utopia fighter" to the various "Teragen fighters"? The story would be that they came to the league to root out all the TERAGEN SCUM! Like that cheat goddess lady. So basically they would be permanent positive PR for utopia on the XWF payroll.
>>
>>21789705
Ah, that sounds pretty good. Roll diplomacy with a +2 dice bonus. Let me check... that means roll 14d10 for the negotiation to get those guys on board.

The japanese audience market is different from the american one, which reminds me, Mattel called, they want to know about doing the new cartoon for Python and Brass. Should it be a complete remake of the old series, or a continuation? the old one was very old fashioned, with self-contained episodes where they beat a different bad guy rather than a overall history arc"

4 successes is more than enough. They can come over to the XWF officially, and perhaps more importantly, this helps improve the XWF and Utopia´s relationship, which has always been a bit strained. But much more important, this makes Ned that much more valuable to the XWF, even if upper management hasnt realized it yet

Better to have her ready to go, is my point."

None of the fights have been decided yet. I was thinking in having the actual tournament matches be decided later, after a pre-season to see how it goes first. So about 2 fights per team before the tournament. That would be a month, that way each fighter can be one weekend in a normal fight, then one weekend in a tag team match.

Do we want Ami to have her debut solo or in a tag team match?

And I thought about it and there´s no way to get around this issue without me seeming like im pushing my fetishes, but anime is by default rather exploitative and fan-servicy. The japanese audience will sort of expect some "service" having Ami in the show.

>>21789851
We are getting 4 silver division rookies, and the 2 utopia guys are gold division level. The jobbers are something of a wild card since they can be assigned to either silver or gold fights, but the average jobber would get killed in an omega division fight, even if the other guy was trying to "fake it".

>>21789885
This is pretty accurate. The other utopia guy would probably be a energy manipulator of some kind, honestly. Im thinking cold, or maybe it would be better if he was a "boost" type, raising attributes as needed. I actually have a very complete NPC written off for a "villain" female that drains her opponent´s physical attributes to raise her own, which I used in my ongoing saturday Aberrant campaign. We could use that to fill the missing utopia guy (since I would like to avoid writing another whole sheet if possible)

<-- her sheet
>>
>>21789913
No, no, this is for the american cartoon, not the game. But you DO make a very good point about that, too
>>
If we need powers, we could always go with the old standby of the guy with super strength but not a super body structure. Every time he uses his strength, his bones shatter.

We'd train him to punch faster, not harder, always near but not at his limit. And when he really has to go all out, he bludgeons his opponent and himself down at the same time like some kind of berserker.

I'd also find it funny to have a telekinetic with absorb (kinetic energy). That is, absorb (physical).
>YOUR RESISTANCE ONLY MAKES ME STRONGER.
>>
>>21789932
>And I thought about it and there´s no way to get around this issue without me seeming like im pushing my fetishes, but anime is by default rather exploitative and fan-servicy. The japanese audience will sort of expect some "service" having Ami in the show.

Honestly, I don't know why it's even an anime in the first place, unless the Japanese are the biggest XWF demographic. You'd want to release the series where you're going to have the biggest pool of viewers, unless the demographics have vastly changed, english would make more sense.
>>
>>21789950
Oh, I see. For that, we can probably just introduce her first as a minor character, appearing once or twice to begin with. THEN SUDDENLY SHE PULLS A BIG DAMN HERO HALFWAY THROUGH THE FIRST SEASON.

Hell, we could even pull a decoy protagonist switch halfway like Gurren Lagann.
>>
>>21789932
We might be able to get around the requirement of "service" be turning it into a running gag. Essentially at least once an episode she starts getting into one of the stock "accidental service" situations but she always somehow manages to avoid it in increasingly absurd fashion.
>>
>>21789968
There´s both a cartoon AND an anime being discussed. These are separate things.

The japanese fucking love the novas. Most eastern countries do. India (its people) think they are either gods or demons incarnated and treat them accordingly, china considers them extremely valuable resources, and in japan there are plenty of cults forming around charismatic novas. Even during the aberrant war, in the official setting, japan (at least the higher ups) kept their nova safe and hidden, and even afterwards, when the nova were supossedly "exiled" from earth, they kept theirs and had them run the country for them, turning japan into a MASSIVE superpower. Of course that was sort of expected. When the rest of the world only has normal humans, no matter how talented, running things, and your country has almost 100 super geniuses inventing new tech, designing new social policies, advancing science, architecture, medicine, etc.

In short, the WXF is truly, truly huge in Japan
>>
>>21790003
Oh, and don´t forget both Ami and Mai were raised in japan (tho they were born from french parents living there), so they speak the language like natives, understand the culture, went to school there, etc

FUND IT! As for your proposed character sheet, sure. I can't wait to see us try to turn her into a shining example of utopia. Okay, the next thing we need to do is have a talk with Paladin. Yeah, I kinda figured out they were huge in Japan, nevertheless, the fact is if you go by sheer numbers, Japanese is dwarfed by other languages, my prefrences would be English or Spanish.

Let me stress that I thought there was *only* an anime in the works, and the fanservice thing kinda creeps me out.
>>
>>21790198

The US cartoon ties in with the Mattel toy line.
>>
>>21790198
I know, but is not the same as "porn" by any means. Anyway, they have different worries about censorship than america has. They are more worried about violence than nudity, while the US is surprisingly okay with graphic violence but not with nudity.

Anyway, lets see... we rolled to get the Utopia guys on board... now I want to get Aura bat-like wings somehow, that way we can get an Angel/demoness combo on the utopia guys.

Want to just skip picking a studio for the anime and assume Ned does it "off camera" and just roll to see how it goes?
>>
>>21790240
I hope they wont kill it the way they killed the new He-Man cartoon. They made lots of the male character´s as toys and virtually no Teela or Evil Lyn figures because they somehow (i dont get it either) assumed the people dis not want them as figures. The Teela and Evil Lyn figures sold out, the toystores were left with HUGE surpluses of everyone else, and when Mattel tried to fix it by pumping more figures on the female characters, the toy stores were afraid to ask for "those heman things that dont sell" and thus the new He Man series got cancelled
>>
>>21790267
>>21790250
Sure, This is marketing right?
>>
>>21790267

I didn't even know there was a new He-Man cartoon. Unless you mean the New Adventures stuff from way back...

Anyway, this is Ned we're talking about. If he calls for an update, he'll get one. And if he's not happy, then that's what Mega Manipulation, directly appealing to the Mattel CEO's avarice, is for.

The Golden Rule: "Do what Ned says, and everyone gets richer"
>>
>>21790198
>English or Spanish.
Mexico loves wrestlers. Not novas specially, but wrestlers, yes. South america doesnt has a wrestling culture, tho, just so you know.

The reason I was favoring japan is because of expendable income. They dedicate a lot of money to it. Even if you were to dominate the market in southamerica, most people there dont have a lot of money to spend on non-essentials, except for chileans and (upper class) brazilians.

Chile in the aberrant setting is surprisingly strong, thanks to having some of the most "powerful" mega smart novas in the setting

I bet those guys are glad Ned put the Creative Control clauses into those contracts...

Ned will also invest some money into the stock of these companies, well before the shows and figures actually debut.

This means that, as well as his basic percentage, he makes money when his investments start to rise.

Did we ever confirm if Ned put his own money into the game design company, in the end?

We rolled over 1.5 times the successes as the number of dice. If it were ever possible, now would be the time for Ned to erupt. Even considering Minamikami's treatment. Because, honestly, not even Novas roll that high, and with more dice.
>>
>>21790697
Just throwing this out there, but maybe they're made of a self-reforming material that changes from time to time dependent on the status of the nova, complete with clothing and outfit? Stick a wifi chip in the middle of it that directs the forming of the polymer and every so often during a tough match your Brass Reaper figurine looks like he's been beat to hell, covered in glossy sweat and oil, with red marks all over. Or they can be 'locked' in a specific configuration according to the owner's desires. I dunno, just a random idea - it'd be cool to have a figurine that retains its ability to look new and modern and keep up with the actual character without having to buy new clothes, paintjobs, or something like that.
>>

Well, you know, there is an *actual* Luck Power in the core book... We could give it to Ned..

Sure. Lets say his resources background is temporarily 2 until the game starts selling, then it will go to 4. 5 when the anime and the cartoon come out.
Despite the massive success of the figures, it wont report that much money. It will however be a HUGE positioning success in that japanese fans will forever remember them.

As usual, the dogs come out to greet you, but used to you by now, they just playfully greet you, tho you may need to change your suit before going back to the office and sent this one to the cleaner afterwards.

Mai greets you at the door, dressed in some old jeans and a dark blue shirt. She usually goes shoeless inside her house, with her sneakers by the entrance.

Mai: "Hey Ned, come on in, I have a lot to tell you over lunch"

Let´s stop here for today, and continue tomorrow. Take care, guys

Sure. Art that can be manipulated by someone besides the artist is still art. Not to mention that some people might decide to 'lock' their figure in a specific configuration that might only ever happen once (during a particularly amazing fight) and create a unique piece of personalized art for themselves, creating a collector's market (and a steady stream of revenue as people buy new statues to replace ones they don't want to unlock.) And they can always pick it up and look at it all around - it has weight and mass and heft, unlike a holo. (The holo idea isn't bad, either - could probably do like cheap holoposters that have the same general concept.)
