Jormungandr slowly drifts down toward one of the ports of Sosaria, the grand, marble island city. As you do so, the populace at the ports, and the armed soldiers all look up, in awe, as the ship slowly dips down.
"The city's beautiful, isn't it." Kaliel said, as the squirrel on her shoulder chittered an affimative. She turned to you and grinned. "If this place is pretty, I can't wait to see what New Arcturus is like."

The soldiers, wearing chainmail, a tabard, and a mantle all looked toward one another, and then two of them said something and hit the third. The third nodded, and stepped up to you, his mantle draped across his chainmail armor.
"Excuse me." He said, as if this were an everyday occurance. "Please state who you are, and why you've arrived. We have never seen a flying ship such as yours."
>>
>>20456211
"I am Queen Ishelda of New Arcturus. We are here on diplomatic business."
>>
"Greetings, I am Queen Ishelda representing New Arcturus, and we come with peaceful intent. We'd like to resupply, and perhaps meet with the local rulers for tea if they like.
The airship is of elvish design and orcish make."
>>
>>20456211
"I am Queen Ishelda of Arcturus. We were hoping to stop here a while before continuing on to the eastern continent."

>Jormungandr slowly drifts down
>a flying ship such as yours
Where's the other ship that's following us?
>>
>>20456211
"Queen Ishelda of Old and New Arcturus. The ship is originally an Orc vessel, but it was gifted to me and further modified with Elven flowers, among other things."
>>
>Sparrow is still circling above the Jormungandr, always in movement.

"Greetings." You say, curtsying. "I am queen Ishelda representing New Arcturus, and we come with peaceful intent. We'd like to resupply before continuing on to the eastern continent, and perhaps meet with the local rulers for tea, if they like." You say. "The airship is of elvish design and orcish make."
"I, uh, see." He said, and turned to one of the other soldiers.
The soldier had already took off running, dumping off his chainmail and weapons.
"One moment, your majesty." He said, with a bow. "The courier is simply informing King Venus of your arrival."
>>
>>20456270
"How is everything on this fine day?"
>>
>>20456270
"Venus? Is the king related to the high lord Venus perchance?"
>>
>>20456270
I apologise that I did not warn you that we were coming, we were in a hurry.
>>
>>20456300
>>20456270
>Shit, I meant Vernus.
>>
"How is everything on this fine day?" You ask, conversationally.
"Very sunny." The soldier said, rather uncomfortable. "With few clouds. A good day for a swim."
"I apologise that I did not warn you of our arrival." You say. "We were in a hurry."
"Oh, of course." He says. "When one owns a flying ship, couriers are simply too slow. Very, uhm, reasonable."

There's an awkward moment as the soldier fidgets, and then the courier comes back, puffing.
"Your Majesty Ishelda of New Arcturus, the king will receive you, a bodyguard, and one of your handmaidens. You are welcome in Sosaria, and your crew can purchase supplies and belongings." The courier says, bowing low.
The soldier visibly relaxed.
>>
>>20456349
I'd say we should bring Grayson, because a bear bodyguard is a very impressive thing, and Raziel - because it's always good to have Raz nearby.
>>
>>20456349
"Raziel, since Marigold is absent I suppose you will have to be my handmaiden. Christoph, Leon, Grayson, and a few of you nameless rank and file soldiers will be my bodyguard."
>>
>>20456349
"Thank you courier. Raziel and... hmm. Who wants to be my official bodyguard for this visit?"
>>
>>20456372
It's a single bodyguard.
>>
>>20456349
"What's his opinion of bears?"

So, Grayson (because he's awesome), Kris as body guard, and Raz in place of a handmaiden?
>>
>>20456372
A bodyguard.
A.
aka Grayson.
Raziel and Grayson.
>>
Sneak Grayson in by saying he's our mount
>>
>>20456418
A prince as a mount?
Rude.
>>
>>20456418
Nah, just tell em he's Prince of All Bears. It's true, roughly.
>>
We'll just take Kristoph and Raziel
Kristoph has always been one of our guards (Grayson is probably inappropriate) and Raziel is the closest thing we have to "handmaiden"
>>
"Thank you, Courier. What's his opinion of bears?"
". . Bears, your majesty?"
"Raziel, since Marigold is absent, I suppose you'll have to be my handmaiden." You say. "Grayson, you can be my bodyguard."
The bear harrumphed, and Raziel nodded, already wearing her formal court wear.
You step off of the gangplank, Raziel on one side, and Grayson on the other. The soldier stands perfectly still, trying not to look at the massive, foriegn creature he's only heard of in story.
"This way to the castle, your majesty." The soldier said, bowed again, and then led your through the streets of the city- everything was made of perfectly carved stone, baked, and you're sure it was made, partially or completely, by magic.
He leads your up the many stairs toward the highest point in the city- the keep, which was rather small, compared to the rest of the sprawling city.

He banged on the knocker twice, and spoke to one of the pages. There was a slight delay at the keep's gate, and then the doors opened.

The hall was quite large, with a grandiose table, arranged with any meal you could even think of- with a higher portion of fish than anything else. There were five people eating at the table, all of them in high-quality clothing. The queen was perfectly silent, with high cheekbones and dark hair. Her three sons looked quite similar to their mother- with high cheekbones and dark hair.
"Welcome." The king said, nodding politely. "We were just in the middle of breakfast, Queen Ishelda. Would you like to join us?"
>>
>>20456515
"Thank you your highness. It would be an honor."
>>
>>20456538
Majesty, not Highness.
>>
>>20456586
You're right, of course.
>>
I have idea how to deal with incrresing magic
Summon book, doll, ring, toilet or silly hat and then make it eat magic from things that we will lay around the world that are absorbing magic itself
Opinions?

"Thank you, your majesty. It would be an honor." You say, and sit down demurely.
"I see no reason why your retinue cannot eat as well." The king said, and chuckled. "Welcome to Sosaria. High Lord Sirius and his letters said quite a bit about you, and all of it was good. I'm pleased to meet you, finally. These are my sons; Daeron, the oldest- Berethor, and Thengel, the youngest- and my wife, Cirya. Please, don't be offended if she does not speak- her power is such that she cannot."
He chuckled, and she smiled at you.
>>

Exabyte had the guards call us "Majesty", which implies that it does mean that here.

The King/Queen is a 'highness' as well. But they're the only ones that get to be called 'majesty' so you use that instead.

Everything. What could go wrong?
>>
>>20456676
"Please, call me Ishelda."
"My apologies if I offend, but might I ask why she cannot?"

And whats wrong with getting new powerfull artifact?
>>
You quickly erect another ward, just in case, and you feel it lock into place.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all. Please, call me Ishelda." You say. "My apologies if I offend, but might I ask why she cannot? Does she have a voice related talent?"
"Oh, all of us in this family bears a talent- Well, most." He said, with a glance to the middle son, who was slightly older than you- Berethor, you believe. "Cirya's power causes. . difficulties, sometimes. Such as the time she asked me to stop laughing, and everybody in the room promptly froze in place, and I near suffocated." He grinned. "My own, is power of the sea. An elemental power, and one suited for our humble island kingdom."
>>
>>20456671
Our own power increases dramatically.
The weave is able to be extended globally.
More talents and dire creatures.
More access to luxuries for the middle and lower classes due to ease of production.
More access to healers for the lower classes as healing magic becomes widespread.
Globalization leads to increased trade and communication across the world.
Portals opening up have a 50/50 shot of bringing in new creatures, who in turn bring new ideas, traditions, and skills.

New Arcturus rides this new wave like it's the Fonz on a fucking surfboard and becomes a global capital.
>>
>>20456755
"I would imagine so. My own talent is much more... broad I suppose would be the best way to describe it."

Also, did Azariels (sp) sacrifice close portals to Demon worlds, that particular Demon world, or portals in general?

Nope, the ogre's sacrifice is still in place.

>>
>>20456836
The sacrifice prevents demons from opening portals to this world,if I remember correctly. Doesn't mean they can't come through portals opened by others.
>>
>>20456824
It closed that particular portal. The dragon's sacrifice prevented any new demon portals from opening anyway.

>>20456836
It stops demon portals. It doesn't stop normal portals opening to demon worlds. Like when we sent the astral fire elemental to Arcturus.
>>
>>20456824
>The sacrifice closed just that single portal. Nothing else.

Curious, you reach toward the middle son with your magic. . and he has something muted, and blurred- an unawakened talent, you can tell.

"Fascinating." You say. "A word of warning, if I may. I've come to notice that talents are getting stronger, around the world."
"Oh, really? How wonderful." The king said. "If I may ask, did the ambassador Denegrin or his son, Thorin, arrive? I sent him several weeks ago, and he should arrive in Arctrurus any day now. Perhaps you crossed one another on your journey?"

"That he did, yes, and he was recieved warmly." You say. "A day or two before I set out on this latest journey, in fact."

There was a moment of silence as everyone ate, and then the oldest son- who was a man in his own right, opposed to his two younger brothers- spoke.
"Excuse me, Your majesty, but if I may ask, what is your power? I've heard tell of sorcery. What exactly is that?"

While I haven't the power that those of a more specialized talent can do with their respective dominions, but mine stretches far and wide. Jack of all trades, master of none." Except for when that strange, unknowable power burns up from inside of you, like when you built Rikar, but you don't mention that.
You raise your palm to demonstrate, and you will a small wisp of light into the air. And then. . it starts draining you. Draining your power at a consecutive rate, tearing away your power. You try to disconnect the spell, or to cancel it, but it the connection between you and it is powerful, too powerful to disconnect. . It drains, quickly, and you're not sure why, or where to. The world swims, and your legs start to shake, and your magic is all but gone-

And then the wisp of light goes out, along with the rest of your magic.
You take another bite, as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. Don't want them to see you weak, of course- your father told you that. Of course, you're not sure you can stand like this. . .
"Put simply, sorcery is the ability to do magic at an instinctual level."

"Undoubtedly, there's something wrong there." He said, thinking. "I freely offer a small squadron of our soldiers, and one of my sons to assist you. The soldiers are trained for every environment, and armed with crossbow and shortsword."
The queen turned to the king. "But-" She said, and her voice rang out with strong, mind control magic- sparking off of your ward. She slammed her mouth shut again, and thought for a moment.
"If you wish to, please tell me why you do this thing without consulting me." She said, slowly, carefully choosing her words, as more slews of mind controlling magic spilled from her lips, affecting nobody.

Which I suspect is behind the shit in the West, just as they're causing shit in the East. Ogres and Kobolds at war, smoke and fire, an enchanted child trying to kill us in the name of the 'Great Wyrm' soon after the scrying, the cult mobilizing in the East... Oh, you must think it's coincidence. But it isn't!

Ogres and dragons despise(d) one another. This cult worships all things draconic, in theory. New Arcturus is founded on Ogre and possibly former Dragon land, giving them reason to despise us in the name of reclaiming 'their' land. A Sosarian child was enchanted by the cult's magic to try and kill us, despite the utter lack of proximity to the cult's base in the East. That suggests they've got a base in the West, which gives reasoning that they're behind the troubles of the West.

This is clearly all a plot to throw the entire world into chaos, complete the destruction of Ogre-kind, enslave the Kobolds as a sort of untermenschen for the cult, revive the dragons, and fuck up everything we've strived for with New Arcturus and our previous adventures, because the cult doesn't know the dragons all have to stay dead because DEMONS, which leads into further conspiracy involving surviving demons (some can shapeshift after all) puppeteering the cult into letting them back into the world, which probably leads to even further conspiracy about the Void Queen, where this is all a distraction to keep us from finding THE GEARWORKS before she does.

You and Raziel stand. You sway, slightly, but you've gathered enough ambient power from the air to keep standing.
"It will be a pleasure to have you on board, prince Belethor." You tell him. "I look forward to traveling with you."
"I with you as well, Queen Ishelda." He responded. "But you can simply call me Belethor, if you wish."

You say your goodbyes to the royal family, and make your way back to the ship. Once on the Jormungandr, Raziel finally spoke up. "What was that before? With the ring. Are you okay?"

"The energy requirements for my spells are completely random. Sometimes I succeed beyond my own expectations, like with Rikar. Sometimes it goes the other way entirely and I spend all my magical reserves on a tiny ball of light."
>>
>>20457779
This covers it pretty well. Followed by "I should recover faster on Jormungandr."

"She just rolled low." One of the archers said, but you paid him no attention.
"Come on, man, you always say stuff like that and it never makes sense." The other archer said.

"My talent is fickle." You say. "That wisp of light drained me of all my reserves. I'll be alright with a little time."
"Okay," She said, relaxing. "You looked like you were in pain."
You sit down, and have some mana tea, using the extra-infused-Galadriel's-Light version you had made, for just this sort of occasion. Your power returns, slowly, and the world stops spinning. You also use some energy from Jormungandr, refilling what you can, until the spare energy is all but gone, if you count the drain of Sparrow and Ell's armor- Your legs stop shaking, and you feel like you can move freely again. You're not full of power again, but you're much better than you were.

"The knights and the lizardmen are off seeing the city, Lady." Leon said, approaching as you sit. "They're also gathering supplies. Is there anything particular you'd like?"

"Also, a few simple, but sturdy rings, and more space for the soldiers that the royal family have granted to us."
"Of course, lady." He said, and took the knights and lizardmen off of the ship.

While they leave, you close your eyes, and attempt to scry for the source of magic on this plane.
What you see. . .doesn't surprise you at all.

You see Marigold, Kell at her side, sitting in the field of Galadriel's Light, the sun being converted slowly into magic by the blue flowers' petals.

But there's something bigger. Something . . More. You can't tell where, but it's something powerful, an enormous presence. You can't tell the direction- it's locationless, in a way. The flowers may be a big part, but the something More is the true problem.

You see two long horns, and a single, blind eye staring out at you.
It whispers your name.

You wake up with a start, and it's almost noon- you'd fallen asleep while scrying, it seems, and you're not sure how much of that was dream, and how much was scry.
"Ishelda, the prince and sosarian soldiers are here." Raziel said, shaking your shoulder.

"If you're tired, there's no need." Kaliel said. "We can show them around for you."
"One moment." You say. You take a ring in hand, and quickly enchant it with the standard communication enchantment, giving it to Raziel. She puts it on. The Sosarian Queen's ring is completely new- you'll have to focus directly on it. "No, I can do it." You say, and make your way to the gangplank. The prince, Belethor, was rather tall, with dark hair, broad cheekbones. While his brothers were more tan, he was still rather pale. A strangely designed sword sat on his hip- it almost looked more like a cleaver than a sword.
"We're prepared, your majesty." He said, with a rather genuine, if muted, smile.

"You know, that is kind of cute in it's own way..." You say, creating a few sparks of light. One by one, they start to snuff out. "Did you actually manage to fly, though?"

You take one of the rings the knights gave you, and then you close your eyes, and slowly twist the communication spell, making it give off just as much noise as she wills it to- and, just because, you also give it the standard communication ability. You pull away from it- it drained you quite a bit, and your legs are shaking, but it seems intact.

Soon enough, all of the lights in the sky were out, and Kristoph opens his eyes again.

"Uhm." Belethor said, looking at Kristoph as he walked away. "Excuse me, but is that sort of thing normal here, or. . ?"
>>
>>20459228
Yes.
...
Wanna be a kalak?
>>

Turn into a kalak.
"Yep. Although not for him specifically."

"In general, yes. Specifically, people shapeshifting? Uncommon, but not unusual, per se."

"I have the ring for your mother ready, by the way."
>>
>>20459228
Yes. Welcome to the Jormungandr. Would you care for a cup of tea?

By the way what are the talents of the rest of your family? I know your father's has to do with the sea, your mother projects control magic with her voice and yours is yet unawakened but I don't know what your brothers talents are.
>>
>>20459228
"Relatively. We basically breathe magic around here."
>>
>>20459255
>>20459254
Let's not waste any power on that right now.
>>
>>20459228
"To a certain degree, perhaps. Kaliel's magic specialty is... transmutation, and Kristoph's talent is a sort of anti-magic field. He exhausted it shortly before we arrived at Sosaria, so they took advantage of the situation to play a small prank on him. Such transformations aren't really normal, but Raziel and Kaliel are both wizards."
>>
rolled 72 = 72

>>20459228
oh my yes...that was an experiment on behalf of my friends Kaliel and Raziel, they weren't human to begin with and they wanted to see what Ser Kristoph would look like if he was to wear the form of their kind.

I myself have tried it. and I find that flying is quite a lot of fun
>>
>>20459284
Raziel could transform him if he said yes, it doesn't waste any of our power. But he's probably not going to say yes anyway.
>>
Pretty much, yes.
And just so you know beforehand, we have biweekly (twice a week) tea party due to some being out of shape in the arts.
>>
>>20459284
We can just recharge of the Jormungandr.
>>
>>20459322
Only twice a week? We have tea with individuals quite often and probably throw small parties where everyone aboard joins us, drinks tea, eats little sandwiches quite often.
>>
>>20459325
*off*
>>
>>20459346
>>20459325
Not unless we want to crash Sparrow. We already pulled Jormungandr's reserve to recharge us from overdoing the lights.
>>
>>20459325
Our reserves are dry, at the moment.
>>
"To a certain degree, perhaps." You say. "We basically breathe magic around here. Would you care for a cup of tea?"
"I suppose." He said, and sat. The squirrel leapt out from under the cup and leapt onto his shoulder. He scritched it's head.
"By the way, what are the talents of the rest of your family? I know your father's has to do with the sea, your mother projects control magic with her voice, but I don't know what your brothers talents are."
"My father's is power over water, in all forms." He said. "He can overturn a goblet, or part the seas. . he's saved children from drowning, before. My older brother's is power over earth. You've seen the city- it's his doing. My younger brother's power has been recently revealed to be flame, and heat. He can cool the city when it is warm in summer, and warm it when it is cold. I don't have one, and it's uncertain if I ever will."
"You have one." You say. "It appears that you talent has simply not awoken yet."
His eyes widen for a fraction, and then he nods.
"I- I see." He said. "Thank you. I'm glad to finally know- but I'd prefer if you didn't tell me it's nature. I'd like to keep that a surprise for myself."
>>
>>20459341
I meant that due to everyone being out of practice, there's at least two tea parties everyone on the ship needs to participate in, along with the usual ones.
>>
>>20459397
"Of course. What do you think of the ship so far?"
>>
>>20459397
Time for the meta soldier to speak up.
"Yeah, probably air. Or you could be the avatar."
>>
>>20459397
"I don't actually know it's nature, just that it exists."
>>
>>20459397
"As you wish. What are your opinions on the ship and others, so far?"
>>
>>20459397
"I don't know what it is, so I couldn't tell you even if you wanted to know."
>>
>>20459397
I don't know the nature of your talent, though I suppose it might be possible for me to investigate with magic, but I won't as it would be against your wishes.

I would however guess that it's air but the only thing I have supporting that is the shared elemental control of your father and brothers.
>>
>>20459397
I can't tell what it is anyway. I look forward to finding out.

Rude.
>>
"I can't tell what it is anyway. I look forward to finding out. What are your opinions on the ship and others, so far?"
"I am. . unused to things here." He said. "But I'm learning quite a bit. I enjoy speaking with Sir Leon, quite a bit. The nature of his talent is interesting. I'm tempted to ask him to spar."
>>
>>20459466
Let's not serve him swamp brew on his first day with us. Give him some time to ease into the Jormungandr's unique brand of crazy.

By the way the bear's name is Grayson, he is perhaps my most loyal companion.
>>
>>20459485
"He has an... interesting fighting style."
>>
>>20459485
You should you should beat him and- (cough) sorry.
>>
We should get Ishelda a button-activated collapsible crossbow.
>>
>>20459485
If you wish to spar there are numerous candidates aboard the ship. Leon, Kristoph, myself and Grayson all stand out.

Though should you spar with Leon I would give you one quick warning, he can make and unmake his sword as he chooses.
>>

>query; does the ship have any rigging?

"He has an... interesting fighting style."
"I'd like if you didn't tell me- I like to figure out these sorts of things by my own. He told me he can summon his sword. .then I suppose he'd use that to his advantage. Parry, and then let go of his sword, and attack while bringing it back again. But due to his armor, he's probably a mobile fighter. . "
He scratched his chin, mumbling to himself.
"I'll need to see his blade before I can say anything for sure." He said, finally. "But I'm guessing it's rather short."

No. We took the mast down when we planted the flowers.

Go ahead. If you wish to spar him you don't need my permission, I'll just sit back and enjoy the show. It'd probably be rude for him to use his other magic in a sword fight so I'm sure he wouldn't.

Though once your talent awakens there could be some rather interesting spars between the two of you, neither of you holding anything back.

"Go ahead." You say. "If you wish to spar him, you don't need my permission. I'll just sit back and enjoy the show. It'd probably be rude for him to use his other magic in a sword fight so I'm sure he wouldn't."
"I see." He said. "I may just, then."
"Best of luck to you, then."
"Thank you." He said. "I may just need some luck."

He stood up, drew his blade. . and then handed it to one of his soldiers. The soldier brought out a small chest, and the prince rustled through it until he drew something longer, and larger. At first, it looked like a scimitar, but it'd been . . stretched; it was much more longer and thinner than a scimitar had any right to be. The prince adjusted his mantle, and strapped the weapon's sheath there, to his back.

"Sir Leon, I'm quite curious." He said. The knight raised an eyebrow. "I'd like to see you in combat. Would you be willing to spar?"
Leon paused a moment, and then gave a slight smirk. "Of course." He said.

The soldiers all stepped to the sides of the ship, leaving the center for the combatants. This was shaping up to be interesting.
>>
>>20459656
We fully recharged from the light. We didn't use that much magic on the ring. We can manage a straight swordfight and it doesn't matter if we lose this time.
>>
>>20459677
Analyse their respective styles during the fight.

Once the sparring is done, stand up and resume petting the squirrel. Way more interesting than some silly duel.

"Have fun, boys." You say. "Don't hurt eachother too badly."
With the sound of shattering glass, Leon's sword appeared. Belethor drew his own blade- the hilt was almost half as long as the rest of the blade. You have no idea what the weapon was designed for.

The two quickly decided on terms, and entered battle, parrying and slashing at one another.

<Good news;> you tell the Sosarian king. <I have, after a little work, got you the ring you wanted.>
<Splendid.> The king said. <I'll have a courier pick it up immediately.>

As you watch, Leon backs up, sword shattering and reappearing. . and Belethor shifts stances, and charges, his long, thin blade windmilling through the air as he rolls the hilt over his hands. Leon parries it- and the windmill twisted, as if Leon fought exactly like the prince expected, and the blade nicked Leon's hand.

"Hold!" Leon said, panting.
"Yes?" Belethor asked. He didn't seem winded at all.
"I, uh..." He shook his head, and started laughing breathlessly. "That was humiliating for me."

"Thank you." He said, bowing- or nodding his head, it was hard to tell which.
"That is quite an interesting sword you have. I have never seen it's like before."
"No offense, but of course not." He said. "I designed it. Made it? Had my brothers help me make it. It's an great scimitar, for the most part- but the hilt is lengthened and weighted so that you can spin it like one does a quarterstaff, if one knows how. It's bad for indoors and closed up locations. . but in the open like this. . ."

"Oh?" He asked.
You draw Rikar, and the sword glows violet, as it always does.
"I'm unused to spells so. . overt, like this." He said. "May I hold it?"
You nod, and he takes it.

The sword shimmers. .
And then becomes perfectly normal steel. He spins it in the palm of his hand, and sparks dance off of the blade itself- it's still magical, it just doesn't appear so. Strange.
"Strange." He said. "It changes the balance on it's own. Like it's reading what I want."

It's appearance changes depending on the wielder as well and chooses who it will work for.
>>
>>20460049
Ooooh, I want to see what the blade looks like when Raz, Kaliel, or Zeke wield it.

"If Rikar didn't accept you, you'd have problems swinging it around." You say. "Maybe it things something flashy just wouldn't fit you."
"I think it's correct. . for the most part." He said, and then handed it back to you. Once again, Rikar blazed into violet crystal. You sheathe it. "Interesting name, though." He said.
"It was actually my name, once upon a time." Fellwind said. "Before I gave it to the sword."
"You're the, uh, healer, correct?"
"Indeed." Fellwind said. They shook hands.
Kristoph came up out from below deck, fully armed and armored.
"I have a feeling I missed something." He said.

"I see." Kristoph responded. "How badly?"
"Really badly." Leon said.
Kristoph shrugged.
"Kristoph, if you haven't yet recovered from draining your anti-magic, I was wondering what Rikar would look like in your hands."
"Let me see..." He said, taking ahold of Rikar.

It shook. . and vibrated, and the blade started shaking out of control-
And a full three feet of extra steel poured out of the hilt, the metal turning into a charred, dull steel- almost entirely black, with no sheen.
". . And it turns into a longsword." Kristoph said. "That's completely normal."
>>
>>20460281
Didn't Mar still have the Ankh inside of her when she tried to wield Rikar?

"Well, that's... drastic." You say. "I've never seen it change that much. Perhaps because you're so well trained with your longsword, Rikar changed to match that?"
". . Perhaps." He said.
"That is... honestly, somewhat disturbing. The metal, I mean. For some reason, magic seems to associate you with the color black."
"Darkness, maybe?" Ezekiel asked. "Like, darkness is the absence of light, Kris is the absence of magic. .That sort of thing."
"I think it's a bit too long for me, though, so I hope it'll change back."
He shrugged, and handed it back to you. The extra steel trembled, and cracked, and then turned into ash, and Rikar returned to it's standard form.

Suddenly, the courier arrived.
"Queen Ishelda. The king sent me to acquire something from you?"

The courier bowed again, and then made his way back toward the castle.

"Of course. I think Kaliel never tried it, as well."
"I'm just curious to see how it reacts to me." He said. You draw it, and give it to him. Immediately, Rikar. .
does nothing. It falls to the ground, ignoring however much force Ezekiel is putting into it. Sluggishly, he hefts it up.
"Why... does this... weigh so much?" He asked, puffing, his entire body straining to keep it aloft. Finally, he sets it back down on the deck.
". . I see what happens when it doesn't accept someone." The prince said.

Kaliel dug her bare toes into the dirt, anxiously. "May I try?" She asked.
You nod.

She grabs it. . and the crystal blade turns deep, blood red. . and then black cracks crawled over it. .and the blade twitched, and shattered, the shards sprouting outwards, leaving her with what looks like a cleaver, the blood red shards connected by some strange, viscous black liquid. . that was breathing. Kaliel, that is creepy, but in the most awesome way. It's interesting.

Ell, Kiyara, Grayson, would you like to give it a try?
>>
>>20460873
"Well that's unpleasant."
>>
>>20460873
Eww, Kaliel.
>>
>>20460873
"Well, that's certainly unique."
>>
"And here I thought Kristoph's longsword was disturbing."

The sword twitched, as if it *heard* you. Oh god.
Kaliel gingerly set it down again, and took three steps back. It twitched, and writhed on it's own.
". . I am never touching that thing again." She said.
"Ell, Kiyara, Grayson. Would you like to give it a try?"
"Might as well." Ell said, and picked it up. . and the blade shimmered pale blue- the same color as Galadriel's Light, softly humming. He gave it to Kiyara, and it turned into a . . reflecting sliver of space, is all you can call it. A perfect mirror. She twisted it this way and that.
"Interesting." She said. She slid it to Grayson. Grayson picked it up between his claws, and the thing curved, becoming a long, claw-shaped blade- and flashed a muted green.
>>
Pass Rikar to ERRBODY

Grayson, Kell (is he here?), those two elves, and especially Meta guardsman!
>>

And it would be neat to see if Fellwind can still use it.

Kell isn't here, Grayson and our elven buddies just tried it out... Lets pass it to Completely Random Guardsman Who's Name Is Not Important.
>>
>>20460983
You see Belethor, this is why Sorcery is so interesting. I had no idea that I would create and Artifact sword that shifted to best fit its wielder.

Pass it around to Jeanne, Fellwind if he wants it and then take it back ourself.

Belethor, how you spin your sword in combat interests me, would you mind teaching me about it?
>>
>>20461024
I don't think we can directly interract with Meta-Knight, but we might be able to get a Competely Nondescript Guardsman to pass the blade to someone else.

Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Man, Pass the Rikar is going to get us killed, I know it.
>>
>>20461011
Yeah, it will probably do something different for Fellwind now. Like go blunt because of his oath, or turn into a scalpel.

Don't leave the nameless soldiers and knights out. Just because the don't have names doesn't mean they don't deserve individuality.
>>
"Fellwind, want to see if you can still use it?"
"...Not particularly." He responded. "I gave it to you, and I never really intended on taking it back up."
"Jeanne?"

She picks it up out of Grayson's claws, and the blade's hilt slid, until it was vertically arranged.
"So, what." She said, punching the air with it. "I stab people by punching them? Cool."
"You see, Belethor, this is why sorcery is so interesting. I had no idea that I would create an artifact sword that shifted to best fit it's wielder."

Jeanne ended up giving the sword to one of the knights, and it turned a glistening bone-white steel. And then he examined it, passed it on, and so on.

Finally, Rikar ended up back to you, so you sheathe it. The sun's already going down- it's been quite a short day, it seems, but because of your nap this morning, you don't feel tired.
