You are a Tech Adept of the Adeptus Mechanicus. As of this moment, you are incomplete. Your internal cogitators, monitoring devices, and memory banks have begun working to rebuild internal personal records. What cannot be directly recovered from other sectors will be recompiled using the "D.100" program your buddy who dabbles in Numerology made for your R/P.G. systems.

It is a strange (but useful) program that ONLY ROLLS D100 and takes from the result what it needs. Just last week when you needed a D.10 sub-routine, this program just spit out an "87" and inputted the value of "7"! The week before that, it churned out a "24" and used the resulting "6" (2+4) for your 2.D.10 program test. Omnissiah only knows what it would do if you experimented with your 3.D.10...

Looking around, you refamiliarize yourself with your surroundings. You're in your rather sizable and bland room. Immediately next to you is your BED, which you just climbed off of. To your right, a small WORKDESK sits near a corner with assorted KNICKKNACKS and TOOLS on top of it. You have no idea what you were doing with them. A small ways from your bed, a dataslate sits on the floor. You assume it's yours even though you distinctly remember putting it away in your WORKDESK. Lastly, in the middle of the dry, metallic room is a PUDDLE OF LIQUID. Whatever the source was, it seems to have moved into your room and left this unsightly mess.

    What do you do?

Might as well start with the nearest. You take a few steps and stoop down to pick up your DATASLATE. It looks like it's okay. Hopefully none of that STRANGE LIQUID got inside the cracks. The senior Adepts will have your hide for that! It looks like some files have been accessed recently. You peer inside the DRAWER. The contents seem shuffled around and generally disorganized. It's usually like that but it's YOUR brand of disorganized. You seem to be missing a spare MINI COGITATOR CORE. Not sure why anyone would want that. They're easy enough to make. At least they left your Adepta Mechanica stash alone.

It seems as though whoever took your TRUSTY HAMMER was very good at not leaving any fingerprints. However, you do notice that there are some small, square MARKINGS on either side of where your TRUSTY HAMMER should be. Whoever it was, they weren't careful enough. Maybe they picked it up with a pair of PLIERS or something?

Yup, just how you left it.

A closer examination of the SQUARE MARKINGS reveals that they're much too large to be conventional PLIERS. They're moving from the outside inward towards your TRUSTY HAMMER's resting place. Whatever picked it up, it had some teeth or grooves for holding objects securely in place. By the Omnissiah's googol-core processor, that sounds like a MECHADENDRITE! (Wow, this one was really close. A 2-point difference.)

In the relative safety of your room, with door locked and tools at the ready, you remove the stain on your career that is your co-worker Tech Adept Bob Bomburus. Maybe he will serve the Omnissiah's cause better as machine parts. Your hacking away at him and stripping of his iron bits is so horribly graphic that you can't help but find a mental escape and imagine what you would look like as a woman. After the deed is done, you look upon your handiwork and wonder if he ever expected such a GRIM fate in this DARK universe.

Oh yeah, there's blood all over the place now. Some of it has gotten into the PUDDLE OF STRANGE LIQUID and most of it has gotten on your sleeves.

After seeing all the life fluids all over the place, you realize that you never analyzed that STRANGE LIQUID. Well, no time like the present. You put a few drops of it into your MATERIALS ANALYZER, conveniently located in your right robe pocket.
    How did that get there?

While you wait for the device to sort things out, you do some work on your end and clean up the mess. The whole mess. Some liberal use of ADEPT CLEAN and TRASH SERVITORS later, the room is back to its former glory. Except for that stain in the middle of the floor. Whatever this liquid is it's worse than blood.

A short whirr and a ding later, the device spits back results. It looks like the STRANGE LIQUID is actually HYDRAULIC FLUID. It's mainly used for the large industrial equipment around here but also finds uses in SERVITORS and the THURSDAY SPECIAL in the Cafeterium.

Storing this information away in your memory banks for later, you decide to answer the summons of your superiors. You leave Building C1 and arrive at the platform just outside it. The forge you belong to is a sprawling display of mechanical prowess and genius, but orthodox, design. The grav-shuttle that leads to your station arrives and you hop on along with at least 50 other Tech Adepts and Menials bound for the same place.

Upon arriving, your ears are immediately accosted by the sound of an angry Mech-Lord. You can't quite tell what he's yelling about but it won't help to be any more late than you already are. You walk through a laboratory filled with all manner of electronic equipment, live wires, and slaving Tech Adepts splayed across every surface. Yes, even the Tech Adepts. This place honestly looks like it belongs in a holo-vid.

The holy, bulked form of the Mech-Lord is but 15 feet away from you. He is right now pacing the floor in front of several frightened-looking senior Adepts and two Enginseers.

"For what possible reason would somebody compromise this, I ask you! Nobody in this department has been given the freedom to speak of this to anybody else! They jeopardize not only MY work but the work and LIVELIHOOD of everyone involved in this project!"

I was just about to have you turned into Soylens Veridian for altering my data. This would explain much. Perhaps we can even use this to our advantage."
