Hey /tg/ so I'm thinking about switching around my list with the release of 5th; let me know what you think:
    Lords:
    Telvanni Lord
    -level 4 wizard
    -potion of levitation
    -Staff of Magnus
    -Drake's Pride robe
    300 pts

    Bound Dremora
    -Daedric Dai-Katana
    -Amulet of Blades
    250 pts

    Elites:
    Telvanni Coven x 3
    -lvl 2 Wizard
    -Summoned Daedroth
    130 pts

    Telvanni Coven x 3
    -lvl 2 Wizard
    -Summoned Daedroth
    130 pts

    Troops
    Argonian slaves x 15
    -Spears
    -Frenzied
    110 pts

    Khajiit slaves x 10
    -Poisoned weapons (5+)
    -Eye of Night
    -Stealth
    120 pts

    Rare:
    Bound Ogrin
    -Thick Fat
    -Daedric club
    -140 pts

    Winged Twilight
    150

    Winged Twilight
    150

so it comes to 1480 points and I'm not sure what other upgrades I can give to my wizards; and I know slaves are usually frowned upon, but my local meta focuses on Imperials, so Ineed to be able to field bodies. I'm not into cheese, so I won't field the Neravarine or any Tribunal.

How do you think this list could do overall though, any other hints or tips for an aspiring Scrollhammer player?

    This...is beautiful
    >> Anonymous 01/28/11(Fri)04:08 No.13687977
    This is a slave-heavy list.
Use fewer, more elite units. If you have access to atronachs, use them. You are already using Bound Dremora, use more conjured and Bound beings.
Don't be that guy fielding 25+ slaves on the field and taking 5 minutes per turn while figuring out each one's actions.

If you can afford it: get Choosen of Azura. It is the most broken Dunmer unit you can field.
    >> Anonymous 01/28/11(Fri)04:09 No.13687981
tell me now, why are you fielding the slaves in one block of ten rather then two blocks of five? if you're going to make a meatsheild, make it worth it.

    Could go either way.
Lots o' flame, or few storm. Both are good options. How many more units do you want to field? That will answer your question.
Or go for pure cheese and field Hungers.
    >What's that, Imperial? Drain health and damage armor in combo fucks over all your awesome soldiers? Whoops, my bad.

Its cheaper to upgrade the frenzy/poisoned weapons when you take them en mass. The covens and elites are geared up to be able to soak damage without taking heavy wounds (have them play close to the Lord running Resto spells to make him damn near invincible)

I would slap your shit if you were playing with me.
I'll play with guys who use transmutation heavy lists. It is always a interesting game.
But restoration heavy? That means you just announce "oh his wounds are healed and his fatigue is gone" forever. I hate playing that kind of attrition game to burn out restoration mages' magicka so I can actually kill them.
Fuck it. My Redgaurd/Nord/Sign of the Shadow Argonian list would bumrush and rape your mage heavy list anyways. And then the Dark Brotherhood argonian's would break stealth behind your slave groups.

Holy shit, learn to optimize. And this is coming from a Redguard-heavy player. Your leader needs to be pure magicka, no exceptions. With his Jump 100, feather 3 seconds spells he hops around the table as he pleases. Anyone gets close, they get fried with silly overpowered Destruction magicka spells making use of his 3X normal magicka pool.

    So ronery.

Not that I can blame people for not fancying them much. Being restricted to unmounted heavy armor melee units and HERKA DERKA IMMA BERSERKA style gameplay is a bit boring at times. But I just love the look on people's faces when on the second turn I pop skooma and sujamma on every unit, order a bunnyhop charge, and reach their end of the table for a +70 strength power attack. I once even managed to almost beat a Nerevarine list with it when my opponent got arrogant enough to not levitate, and I got him locked in a constant knockback loop. But then he used that faggy Dragon Break and reset the table...

Actually from what I've gathered from insider sources they're coming out with a brand new Legion to commemorate their newest TES game. Something about the lost 12th Legion. Guess what ability they all have (aside from shield wall). You guessed it. Infiltrate. Anywhere on the board. They've all got magical gear too. 2+/2+ saves and +5 weapons across the board.

You think its bad now. I don't think I'll buy that codex though. I like the feel of my normal Legions. Feels good to stomp all over that pompous Elven ass.

As a fellow Imperial player I admit his list is bad. Spearmen Axillia are the cheap chaff of the Legion. Use them to counter spearmen and hold off other chaff but if you want kills and victory you gotta get some Imperial Legionnaires. They're 80 points for 10, but you get a 3+ save, Shield Wall, Fearless Under the Standard, and Combat Tactics (fuck your exhaustion). Shit, Legionnaires even have better weapons. They've got a powerful armor piercing ranged attack AND 2 attacks in melee on top of the 4++ from the tower shield.

I go with 10 units of Legionnaires. Just roll up the field with them.

Oh, and also, what do you think about the Sheogorath rule on Daedric Prince summoning? You roll a weather check before summoning, and if it just so happens that it's storming, instead of the prince you want you get Sheogorath. Shit's potentially patently hilarious, especially if they make him wig out every turn on a roll of 6. Even worse if the other player can land a drain willpower on him.

DB sharpshooters during day/outdoors, berne nightblades on anything wearing armor better than chitin. it's funny to watch a her hand's ordinator get shot with a paralyze arrow, then have three assassins jump him next turn and do almost 1k damage total then slink back behind their own lines.

imperial legion wrecks it hard though (which is why it didn't win). also it has a hard time with daedra, and anything like that Orc necromancer list floating around stomps a mudhole in it and walks it dry. it CANNOT play the long game, but over half the time it doesn't because DB's swift strike -> converge -> swift strike = 1k damage on any target post-armor/resistances.

Yet still, it was so very, very flavourful. And even today, a Breton list could be very powerful. Especially since 4e changed magic resistance to cover elemental damage too. Practically makes any High Rock list a potential nightmare for any and all magic cheese lists. Not to even mention mark of the atronach breton sorcerers.

    Bound or summoned enemies? Levitate.
    Mage enemies? Absorb.

That's the problem, really. Hircine's Aspect is declared at the start of the match, not in the army list, so you can just basically tailor-suit him to any situation. Only real defense is to hope you can fake the Weres player out as to how you're set up, which can be hard with some armies.

The way I see it, Hircine was supposed to be your lord choice, and then it makes sense (although he kind of sucks compared to other lords kited out to cost the same). But for some reason you can take him as a regular daedric option, as if he were some kind of a huge scamp. Then, when you effectively have TWO lords for the price of one and a half, things get stupid.

The potions rules in 3e kind of mitigated this, but in 4e it can really suck.

no, they errata'd that pulse gun DISABLES units in power armor (still kills robots outright though), which means that any human in power armor has to spend 2 turns removing the armor or suffer heavy movement and strength penalties from having to heft a non-responsive suit of metal on them.

you can still fuck over a power armor army with a few pulse guns, but unless the opponent is fielding securtrons and mr. gutsy's specifically, all you're doing is stalling and slightly weakening your opponent.

    Radac Stungnthumz

    Kwama forager x 20 - blighted - 40

    Scrib x 60 - blighted, paralyze touch - 60
    Scrib x 60 - blighted, paralyze touch - 60
    Scrib x 60 - blighted, paralyze touch - 60
    Scrib x 60 - blighted, paralyze touch - 60

1380 points total, 567 models total. I WILL DROWN YOU IN SCRIB JELLY. Also with the egg nest upgrade, I can spawn more scribs, who get blighted and paralyze for free because the queen's blighted. Depending on rolls I can get about 15 or so a turn, double that if I get lucky rolls. Fuck the cliffracers.

Yeah, most people who go for the gods don't have enough points left over to get anything else but fanatics or Aslander mercenaries as their core options. Makes for pretty boring games I think. Some of them even disregard blessings even though they're cheap as hell.

The main problem with my list is the low number of models. They're excellent against mage-heavy armies thanks to Spell Breaker, Hler's teleport ability and the Buoyant Armigers, but swarm armies or trolololo worthy Imperial armies with 80+ models still wreck my shit. The Bonewalkers slow them down and firestorms do decent damage, but it's usually not enough and once my priests die I have pretty much lost the game.

This list is pretty straight forward, but it might get boring after a while since you will be mostly locked in close combat the entire game. What really matters most is who gets first hit, and the roll of your die. BUT blighted is pretty important for the overall penalties it will cause in your opponent by turn 4, 5, and 6. I hate it when I play against a blighted player, and by the end of the game all my units who were locked in close combat have -2 strength and initiative.

Anyone think that Bethesda will include silt striders as mounted units for the Dunmer Houses in the next edition? They are desperately lacking in heavy mounted choices, and with the silt striders they'll have an excellent heavy platform for archers and mages. Or maybe they could be a special choice for Dres since their army kind of lacks flavor apart from slave hunters and heroes/elites with vampiric traits.

They're not taken as mounts, but rather as heavily armored transports. To take a Silt Strider for a single model would be kind of pointless, since they have a capacity of 10, or 20 if you take the "Hollowed Shell" option. It was in the Faction Approved 2004 manual. It is still supported in the current edition, just not for tournaments.

The Mage's guild is terrible man. Sure, the magic is useful, but all the lords are awful. Their most expensive two, Trebonius and Traven are practicly unusable, despite high point value!

Sure, trebonius is powerful, and comes with free artifacts included, but fielding him actually HURTS the abilities of all other mages you field. Nothing is worth that.
Traven is even worse, If you field him he cripples your unit selection. Every unit has to be specialized, and NO NECROMANCERS. What the hell?

Honest to god I remember a variant list called "the charmed and the dominated". It was led by a level 4 wizard who couldn't cast anything but cheap level one spells because he had his mana tied up in dominating the rest of his army. Which was a hodgepodge of bandits, ashland tribesman and imperials. I think the only other casters you could field were level 1 hedge wizards, with no options. But in return, you could put millitamen in medium armor in with your bandits, to at least give them a fighting chance against anything with long blades or polearms.
