Because the last thread at >>20080536 went crazy long and autosaged, but I wanted to finish Shadowrun Storytime 15 with this run. When last we left off, Geppetto was surrounded by mage-cops, and so decided to knock himself out and in the process summon a Force 14 Free Spirit, a proxy for his mentor spirit, Adversary, into his body. I'll continue in the next post.
Time to see the aftermath of Adversary fun fun time.
>>20098708Wildcard was surveying the news with his limited Matrix connection. He had been following the special on "DPI Specialists Uncover a Black Magician" with dread. As he watched a dozen gunmen perforate Geppetto on live TV, then follow up with spells, that dread certainly did not abate. As the bullets in question blasted outward from Geppetto's frame in a greenish fireball of death, that dread continued to not abate and, in fact, increased. His eyes flooded black with the hollow nothingness that exists in the heart of a murderer, Geppetto took one look at the helicopter cameraman and then the feed abruptly cut out, although the audio of a dozen men screaming in incredible, unearthly pain remained for about a half-second longer.Wildcard sent Brianna a message:"I think Geppetto may have just ended his career, Brianna. I'm still okay for now. Over and out."Wildcard recognized his mistake and began packing his bag again even before Brianna sent a message back."They're tracking me, dipshit. Ditch your hiding spot."Wildcard was out the door and on the sidewalk, making for the nearest metro station, within half a minute. With his mask in his duffel bag, he looked like Johnny Nobody, average salaryman. He calmly took the escalator down, approached the nearest maintenance closet, produced an autopicker and, pretending desperately like he belonged, slipped the autopicker into the lock. Jimmying the door free of the lock, he popped into the closet long enough to get a maintenance jumpsuit over his suit, and then began working his way down the maintenance catwalks in the subway tunnel, making for the barrens, where he could split off into the abandoned tunnel sections. He felt around in his bag for his assault rifle; he'd need it, where he was going.
>...unearthly pain remained for about a half-second longer.Huh. Just gonna go hide under some covers now while I f5.
>>20098863>"I think Geppetto may have just ended his career, Brianna. I'm still okay for now. Over and out."FuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckGeppetto can't be done for, he's got magic, he can make himself look different or something. It's magic, he ain't gotta explain shit... right guys?2D fix it. Make it better.
>>20098863So is this the beginning of the lead-up to that crazy Mexican mage you mentioned in one of the early threads?
>>20098863Is- Is Geppetto going to be okay?
Gepetto. You were a creepy goddamn bastard. You made me cringe. Everything that was evil, you were. You were a bad man. You lived off of the pain and misery of others--and, alter, off of their very lives. But, for all that, you were a good shadowrunner. And, dare I say, a good source of entertainment.Rest in pieces you magnificent fucking bastard. You're an inspiration to us all.
>>20098863Wildcard slowly walked the length of the sprawl from Renton to Redmond, just using the subway tunnels. Eventually he hit an old barrier--wood and chain-link fence, mostly--between the abandoned subway tunnels and the active ones, and a few minutes with a wire cutter and a hatchet from his duffel bag had him moving again, albeit through much less friendly environs. The tunnels beneath Redmond weren't as well-mapped, and they saw overlap with the sewers, impromptu basements created by building collapses, and the odd bug spirit hive. Wildcard donned his mask and switched on the night vision, priming his smartlink for action. Every once in a while his boots crunched on something that he didn't care to observe, and he had to avoid tensing up. Panicking was his worst enemy in a scenario like this.He dropped to a crouch and slowly worked his way along a wall when he spotted lamplight and heard voices coming from an abandoned subway station. Shadows on the opposite wall showed three men with handguns flanking a large box of some kind, and two men in some sort of armor with assault rifles standing across from them. Activating his headphones' selective sound filters, Wildcard started to pick up bits of the conversation.A synthesized voice, distorted by means of some sort of vocorder device, announced,"We've been over this. Your payment was half up front. We're not paying your gang double for the goods, that wasn't part of the deal."A more recognizable voice, a male, human probably, retorted,"Well, you didn't warn us about the level of heat going into this. We say cough up double or we walk and take it to your competitors."Vocorder shouted back,"You and I both know that we have no competitors! The Seattle underground is ours!""Piss off!"
What ifBear with me hereWHAT IF instead of dying when you hit 0 essenceWHAT IF!~ you were merely forced to take a compulsion to become a darker soul forced to constantly contemplate what it means to be human as you slowly lose your mind and body to the implacable march of technology, and forced to bring it up at every oppurtunity.
>>20099042"You have three seconds to back away before we take the merchandise by force. One, twoFUCK!"The shadows of the three men pulled sidearms. One of them managed to pop off a few shots (which went wild) before all three were promptly put down in a volley of fire from the two armored men. One of the armored men immediately ran to the corpses and put a single bullet in each of their heads before pulling a knife and squatting over the bodies. The other ran to the box, popped the top off with a plasticine "click," and breathed a heavily-distorted sigh."Merch still there?" This voice was different. Distorted in the same way that the previous voice was, but still a distinctly separate male voice. Wildcard guessed that it was probably the corpse-squatter. The first voice replied,"Merch is still there. Not as much as promised, though."With a horrible squelching noise, the squatting figure stood up from the bodies."It's why John doesn't make a point of dealing with go-gangers. We use the 162s for a reason when we want quality merch, not freelancers. Let's beat feet before we attract the Rusted Stilettos."As the two men approached his position, Wildcard loudly cleared his throat. Both of the shadows tensed and raised their rifles. The second voice shouted,"WHO'S THERE!? Back away and we won't hurt you!"
>>20099145Fuck. Yes. Ghouls. Yes.
>>20099145"I rather doubt that," said Wildcard, "which is why I'm not showing myself. I'm not looking for invisibility so much as protection."There was a pause."...go on.""You gentlemen sound like you belong to a reputable criminal org somewhere on the unfriendly side of the law. I like that. You see, I happen to be a runner, on the run from the law, and I was looking for someplace to lie low. I can pay or work, or both. Amenable?"There was another pause, as the two mystery men made hushed whispers to each other, which came off more like radio static. One of them put his hand to the side of his head, probably calling in another opinion."You don't ask any questions and help us get this shipment of merchandise back to our home turf, shadowrunner, and we'll give you a place to kip out for five hundred a week. Deal?""Deal. You don't get the five hundred till we get back safely, though," said Wildcard, stepping out into the open.He was confronted by two men wearing Mitsuhama EE hazard suits, outfitted with makeshift PPP armor additions. The glass on the hazard suits' hermetically-sealed faceplates was polarized. Wildcard couldn't see an inch of skin on either man."Very well. What's the merchandise.""Hearts, mostly, but we didn't get a chance to check."Wildcard gulped."...cow hearts?""Guess again."
It was about this point in the session that I was seriously starting to wonder if we were about to have a TPK on our hands.I remember frantically going through every cheesy item in my inventory, some of it left over from back in the Trout days, trying to prep for the inevitable ass-reaming that would be headed my way.As it turns out...Well, I guess I'll just let 2D tell it.
>>20099258"I'm telling you! I don't know your sister! And if she looked like you I definitely wouldn't have fucked her! Don't--"Dervish punched the "offending" lowlife in the face, knocking a few teeth out and rendering the guy completely unconscious before stomping out of the barrens bar. The surrounding gangers clapped and cheered. As Dervish exited the bar, Bend materialized next to him, holding a large sack full of commlinks."You snag some more?""Yeah, about six off the crowd, seven if you count the guy you just decked. Most of 'em look to be disposables, though.""Still. We can use 'em to stay off the radar and sell a couple off when funds are getting low."Bend straddled the back of Dervish's bike, keeping an eye out for any tails as Dervish climbed onto the front. Dervish was still wearing his milspec armor, too paranoid to take it off while they were Universal Omnitech's Most Wanted."Think Wildcard or Geppetto made it?""Dunno. If we can hook up with them, we'll talk about whether we want to lay low then try to pick up the mission again, or just fucking bail."Dervish kicked the engine into motion, and the two runners tore across the busted streets of the barrens. As they pulled onto the roof of an old parking structure, the sky above them began to darken noticeably."Aw, fuck. Are the smog spirits out today? Goddamn toxics."Bend squinted, turning an eye skyward."No, that's...oh. Oh shit."
>>20099332Don't you fuck with me Dervish. You're my favorite.Don't do this to me man, I'm worried about you guys.
>>20099354That seems like a bad sign.
>>20099332While you're hear, Dervish, care to share any tips or tricks for aspiring melee sams?I've been warned off melee by quite a few people but you seem to pull it off with style, slicing the unfortunate dudes who make themselves your enemy into ribbons with a flick of your spurs, there must be something they're all missing.I'm going to be playing in my very first ShadowRun game coming up, filling the role of street sam, but I'm planning to use guns, assault rifles primarily but I've got considerable skill with pistols and snipe rifles. >>20099354Cackling madly, Geppetto pinwheeled through the sky, his flight spell faltering. He trailed blood in long arcs through the air, spiraling towards the ground. He seemed very intent on landing near to Dervish and Bend. Dervish growled,"He's going to slow down, right?"He didn't.With a painful SNAP noise, Geppetto landed on the parking structure, bounced, skidded, and then ground to a stop. The impact and the rain of blood from above left the immediate area around Geppetto resembling a schlocky horror flick. Bend ran over to Geppetto's body."How'd you find us, Geppetto?"Geppetto grinned up at the team. This would not have been a problem if his body weren't face-down. As it were, his head was about seventy-five degrees backwards. His arms twitched and spasmed, before drooping into lifelessness one digit at a time."Geppetto isn't home right now, but you can leave a message."Dervish stood over Geppetto, looking over Geppetto's blood-soaked jacket."Fuck, Adversary. Your head's on backwards.""Is it, now?"With another SNAP noise, Adversary twisted his head a little further back to look down at his body. In the process, his fedora fell off, revealing that Geppetto was missing most of the right side of his face. His right eyeball dangled like a yo-yo from a massive crater in his head."I didn't notice."Bend took a moment to stagger a few feet away and vomit his guts up.
>>20099437>hearugh, it's 5 am here...
>>20099439>"Fuck, Adversary. Your head's on backwards.">"Is it, now?">With another SNAP noise, Adversary twisted his head a little further back to look down at his body. His right eyeball dangled like a yo-yo from a massive crater in his head.>"I didn't notice."
>>20099358Don't worry, broski. Dervish rides this campaign from start to finish. The first scene we ever did was Dervish waking up in his dumpster, and the last one before the group broke for summer/grad school was of Dervish's finale in the Epilogue.I, personally, am extremely proud to have brought a Sammy of all things through two whole years of unforgiving Shadowrun play. This character literally walked through Hell and came back again something like five times, plus that one time we ACTUALLY ended up there......but that's for a different Storytime. The UO run does not deserve to be derailed.
>>20099490Dervish, you are my hero. I am in awe that you managed to live through all of the shit you went through.
THAT'S RIGHT BITCHES, THAT PICTURE AT THE START OF THE LAST THREAD WAS FORESHADOWINGSomeone even commented on it being a really creepy picture of Geppetto.>>20099439"J-Jesus, man."Bend coughed up a few more dry heaves before wiping his mouth."We've got to get you to a hospital.""Considering I'm the only thing keeping your cocky little teammate alive right now," agreed Adversary in a sing-song voice, "I'd second that assessment. Of course, where-oh-where are we ever going to find a hospital free of Universal Omnitech pharmaceuticals interference? And if we find that, how about a hospital that accepts banshees? I'd put my hands on my cheeks dramatically but, what do you know, I'm paralyzed."Dervish snapped his fingers. In the armor, it made a CLANG noise."TwoDee's buddy. What was his name--John. The Tamanous guy. The ghoul. Tamanous runs a hospital only a few miles from here.""Better get me there fast, chuckles," giggled Adversary. "I'm beginning to stop hurting, and not in the good way."Loading Geppetto's broken body into the sidecar, the team sped for the Tamanous hospital.
>>20099490Well, this pic now feels even more appropriate.
>>20099525Does anyone have the image of a Ripper mashing its F5 key and yelling "FASTERRR"?I need it for obvious reasons, as it is nearly 3 AM here.
>>20099525At the gate to the Tamanous compound, John tsk-tsked, at least as well as anyone could tsk-tsk while not having lips."A year ago, this man came into this hospital in a similar state. I turned him into a banshee to spare his pain. Look at what difference it has made.""Look," said Dervish, impatient, "can you save him or not?""Likely not," responded John, adjusting his tie with a funerary flair, "but I can try. We refurbished the waiting room if you wish to stay there for the night. There's another runner renting it out, but something tells me you'll be amenable roommates.""He could be a bounty hunter," noted Bend, unconvinced. John turned and began walking back into the hospital as two ghouls gingerly loaded Geppetto onto a stretcher."You'll work it out. You runner types do tend to get along with each other."John turned back briefly."Oh, and if you have open wounds, please ask one of my aides for one of the hazard suits from the basement. It wouldn't do well to infect ALL of my clientele.""Well, whoever this mystery runner is," said Dervish, as he stepped into the waiting room, "he'd better not fuck with me.""Wouldn't dream of it, Dervish," responded Wildcard."Oh. Good to see you're alive.""Likewise," responded Wildcard, tapping at an AR screen. "Was that bloke with half a face Geppetto?"
>>20099624BUBBLES APPROVES.TYPE FASTER, SHADOWMEATS.
>>20099437Strictly speaking, melee is generally inferior to ranged combat, since gun-wielders can use fancy bullets and burst fire for extra oomph, and if they don't full auto they can attack as Simple Actions instead of Complex ones. That said, as Dervish, the things that made melee work was the following:> Edge of 6 - seriously, this is the best god damn thing a street sammy can hope for. Edge is life for somebody whose job it is to do stupid bullshit and act as the Full-Auto sponge.> Martial Arts - from Arsenal (I believe), these will just give flat +DV to melee attacks if you pick the right ones. Generally, you can get up to +2 DV in any one type of weapon, but Unarmed Strike can go much higher.> Retardedly high STR stat. Dervish was rocking an augmented 10 by endgame, with an additional +3 from his armor and an additional +2 for leg-purposes from his Raptor Legs (which I had not discovered yet, at this point in Storytime). This brought Dervish up to a total Cyber Spur DV of 13, with AP of -1, which is better than most guns you could hope for.> More martial arts - check out the maneuvers. Those things are NOT to be underestimated. Dervish could melee Full Defense AND attack in the same pass, and if I felt like an enemy was 1 blow away from death, I could use my next pass to get an immediate second attack.
>>20099690>>20099437> Situational bonuses to hit / situational penalties to opponent's dodge. Shadowrun is very, very silly in its thoroughness of this rule. If you are VERY clever in manipulating your environment, you can generally get +2 dice and give a -2 penalty to dodge to your opponent on most important attacks. Charging, high ground, attacking a prone opponent, whatever. Use it all, use it often. Also note that if you attack someone with a gun in melee, they have a fairly substantial penalty to hit you, and disengaging from your melee may provoke an attack, or something like that.> Surprise attacks. If an opponent isn't aware of an incoming attack, they get NO roll to dodge it. This is true of both melee AND ranged, so take note. At this point, take the Aim action to apply a -4 penalty to hit on your end and get +4 DV on your strike, then attack with a concealed weapon before he can react. Dervish likes to use this maneuver with his Shock Hands. he also has a Martial Art (Krav Maga?) that lets him Aim as a free action.
>>20099548>>20099459I'm only like 75% of the way through the run, and it's 3AM here. I'm considering doing the same thing as last night, and getting it to a good stopping point before picking it up tomorrow afternoon. S'pose the thread could stay alive till then if I chose that route?
>>20099624It was three days later when the team was allowed into the recovery ward to see Geppetto. The recovery ward was a dismal place, given that it hadn't been used for a medical recovery since Geppetto went under the first time, and not for years before that.Geppetto was loosely cogent. He still resembled, more than anything, a marionette with its strings cut, and being devoid of all of his trademark clothes made him look awfully exposed. His body was covered with bandages of all varieties. John spoke as he undid the bandages around Geppetto's head."It was a miracle that we managed to fix your spine. You'll walk again--soon, even--but the nerve damage is permanent. You'll probably never feel much in your extremities again. With the amount of muscle tissue we had to clone, you'll also be weak. If you insist on going back on the job, I'd recommend putting you on crutches, a cane at least."My face," Geppetto rasped. "Tell me about my face."John grimaced. It was a hideous thing, all teeth and bleached, atrophying gums."Well, we repaired it. Mostly."Geppetto's face had mostly recovered, although around his right eye was a mess of scar tissue. He had no eyebrow to speak of, and even the eye itself was set a little differently from its twin. What was more disturbing was the trickle of orangish-red liquid out of what used to be Geppetto's tear ducts. Geppetto snarled when he looked in the mirror."What the hell is that!?"
>>20099741Damnit, fine. I need to go to bed anyway.Good night, Two-Dee.
>>20099756"It's cerebro-spinal fluid. When we were reattaching the ocular nerve, your regeneration kept kicking in. It thought that your eyelids--lacerated as they were--were a wound and kept sealing over your eye. We had to create an incision and hold it open long enough for the regeneration to slow. Your eye may be permanently damaged, but more pressing is the seepage of the fluid into your tear ducts. You'll have to come in for periodic checks, but it should be harmless.""HARMLESS!?"With a burst of magic, Geppetto smashed the mirror."YOU CALL LEAKING MY BRAINS OUT MY EYE HARMLESS!?""Technically, Geppetto, the fluid around your brain. And you're lucky that you survived in the first place."Wildcard somberly stepped forward."Look. Geppetto. We can call up the Johnson, get this whole thing called off--"Geppetto grabbed Wildcard by the throat with a deceptive strength, shutting him up. Arduously, with pain evident in every motion, he drew Wildcard closer to himself."No, Wildcard. We're finishing this mission. We're finishing this mission because I've lost too fucking much already, and I'm not prepared to make it all for nothing."
>>20099741I would try, but I am A) out of Storytime-related art and B) in the same timezone as you, I think. As a seed, however, my current group (me, brother, two friends) have thought of making an all-Troll one-shot campaign/extended session. Will this be hilarious?
>>20099769>>20099758This is actually probably a good place to call it. >>20099776Allow metavariants and SURGE for extra fun.
>>20099709Krav Maga, for when leaving someone unable to ever walk again is your definition of winning a fist fight.I've already got the edge of 6 and I was planning on picking up some form of martial arts.I've got Bone Density Augmentations and my strength 7, so my unarmed attacks do some decent damage. Being a more-than-capable unarmed fighter is pretty high up there on my list of important shit for my sammy.Another question if you don't mind, how the hell are you so fast. I remember in one of the earlier Storytimes 2D described you as rocket-orking around at over 100mph, was that just a house rule that made the Raptor Legs stack with Skimmer Discs? Do you have the Celerity Quality?
>>20099790Oh, absolutely. Mainly, I just want to make a fella that smashes shit, and emits a vicious stink (much like myself). I hear Troll Throwing- and Bow-Adepts are brutal (my current runner having survived an Elven Bow-Adept by way of GM fiat (I took 20P, twice in a row) makes me lean towards the latter.)
>>20099792I think he must have been movement-ed for that, or it was an artful exaggeration. By crunch Dervish wasn't that fast.

I'm curious, What happens to a street sammy with some 'less than deltaware' stuff in him when he turns into a ghoul? Is it straight out rejected or is it assimilated by the body because it's already stuck in him?
any tips for a struggling gm TwoDee?
>>20099827I always figured it was rejected.Which would not be very fun at all, oh no.Oh, a reminder, everyone, if it needs to be said:>SHADOWRUN GENERAL
>>20099833That really depends on the way in which you're struggling. I don't have any "general" tips or anything; I'm not actually the best GM myself, despite Bloodhound's insistence to the contrary.Although I'll probably have more to say on the matter after I've had some sleep.
>>20099833Find a better group. In my first ever SR seeion, the GM typed less than 10 lines of text over a 4 hour session. SR is one of the most player-driven RPGs.
>>20099836That's no good... I have a Move By Wire 2 stuck in my ork...
>>20099792I believe that 100mph may have been a *slight* exaggeration, but yes, later on, I did stack Raptor Legs with Skimmer Discs - there's technically no reason they don't work together. I think I fluffed the extra speed as just being an upgrade to the thrusters in the skimmer discs, rather than attributing the speed to the fancy articulated mechanical movement of the legs. Being a mechanical engineer, I was having a hard time wrapping my head around that.So a single turn is 3 seconds. Base movement rate of 25m for an average shadowrunner means 18.6 mph sprinting - which is pretty damn impressive, considering this is the movement rate of 2D we're talking about, here.Skimmer discs improve that to 50m, and Raptor Legs to 75m/3s, or 56 mphBut then if Dervish spent all 4 of his initiative passes taking the Sprint action with his running skill, he'd get an average of about 20-something hits without edge (Yes, Dervish's Athletics group was pretty much capped out at endgame), which meant ~95m/3s, or 71 mph.TwoDee may have actually been recalling the point when I was converting that to kph in my head, since 100 kph is only about 62 mph - which was about Dervish's sprinting speed before he got his Raptor Legs.Sure, its not 100mph, but this is still an Ork who can run down your family's 2012 SUV on the freeway. In 2072, that's still not enough to catch a car on the open road, but its easily enough to catch a car dealing with light to moderate traffic in a city.
>>20099809That's what I suspected. Nothing wrong with a little embellishing while you prose the story up for us.
I had my first ever SR session or experience with any RPG this morning over IRC. Can I start posting the storytime in this thread?
>>20099827Ghouling doesn't cause you to lose any 'wares. There are lots of in-continuity references to gouls who have held onto their cyberware. In fact having cyber-eyes, and thus retaining your sense of sight, is well documented as being one of the biggest contributors to maintaining ones sanity post-infection.
>>20099885I think the general rule is for all infected, they have to have Deltaware stuff in you for it to function. So a Ghoul CAN get cyberware, it's just really expensive
>>20099885At the very least in crunch, though, I don't think you're allowed to build a ghoul without delta.>>20099864>which is pretty damn impressive, considering this is the movement rate of 2D we're talking aboutOkay, I lol'd.
>>20099878Sure. Sounds cool.
>>20099864Now it all makes sense.Originally my character was a Troll. I was Plan B. Even then, with Celerity and Skimmer Discs, your described speed was higher than what I'd calculated mine at. I assumed this was due to my being brand new to SR and missing some "other" movement enhancer.
So, this is the log of my group's first SR4 session and my first ever session in any RPG.The group:Nivaldo (me) – Physad Infiltrator who managed to reach the end of the session alive.Skyline – Racist Ork hacker who's the team leader despite having taken (Incompetent: Leadership)Kyonshi – Cyberpsychotic elf razorgirl.Klepto – Dwarf Rigger. Keishi/Kalfu – Voodoo Spellslinger/Enchanter.Will begin the actual story in half an hour after I nap.
>>20099878Go for it! I'm probably clocking out, and a new storytimer will be great to keep the thread alive.
>>20099941TwoDee demands, sleep can be postponed. The session begins with the group inside a warehouse, black hoods having just been removed from their heads. They sit in a semicircle of plastic chairs with an elderly human at the centre and an Ork with an assault rifle flanking the group. The elderly man apologizes for forcibly bringing us here, and offers us a job that will pay 500000 nuyen each: to kill him. Never the type to waste time, Nivaldo gets up from his chair and uses killing hands to snap his neck with a single punch.
Guys, guys any tips for aspiring rigger? If I get both the symsence booster and the comlink upgrade from Unwired, can I have as many as 5 IPs in meatspace while jumped in?
>>20099938What about Ikiryo?
>>20099955Forgot Ikiyryo, Shinto Band-Aid who is also Kyonshi's caretaker.
>>20099904Bullshit.Only infected with regeneration have to worry about that crap. Runners companion 77-78. Ghouls can have as much ware as they want.
>>20099976Huh. I learned something new today.
Consider the following: a centaur is cabable of getting equiped with 2 sets of cyberlegs. Each of these sets is capable of hosting raptor legs and cyberskates (which increases speed by half, rather than doubling base). The effects from having two seperate sets of cyberlegs and cyberskates? They stack. The base speed on a centaur is 100 m/action at a run.100 * 1.5 (cyberlegs) * 1.5 (cyberlegs) * 1.5 (cyberskates) * 1.5 (cyberskates) = 506.15 m/actionmultiply that by 4 passes for 2025m/turn. 2 kilometers (over a mile) in one turn. One turn is 3 seconds. That's 675 meters per second. Just under twice the speed of sound.Thats 40.5 km per minute.2,430 km per hour.~1,510 miles per hour.Literally faster than a speeding bullet.and he aint even sprinting.
>>20100053I'm pretty sure movement speed is based on per-turn rather than per-pass (So you'd divide it by your number of passes to see how far in each pass).
>>20099938I can tell you right now, your party has some sweet-ass names.>>20100042Okay, that sounds too amazing to not try and exploit into some kind of Centaur Mannonball. Just get the thickest armour you can find and run through everything in your path.
>>20100103This is correct. Extra passes allow you to do other things while sprinting, IIRC.
>>20100103Is right. The final would be ~168.717 m/s or 607.5 km/h or 378 miles/h.Half the speed of sound, rather than double.
>>20100112There's a small gap in my memory, probably because I've been awake for just under 26 hours. I'll nap and see if I can continue the story from a chatlog then.
>>20100125Man/Guidance Spirit uses Movement. Bang. Also OH GOD WHY CAN'T I SLEEP.
>>20100142Obviously, you can't sleep because you want to finish the Storytime.
>>20100103Shit, my bad. Still pretty badass. You know what else is great about Centaurs? You can fit them with 6 cyberlimbs, 2 cybertorsos and a cyberskull. >>20100164You're a sick man... And I like it!
>>20100142Aint no rest for the wicked, till we close our eyes for good.Looking over the chatlog, I messed up the opening scene a good bit. Allow me to restart.>The session begins with the group inside a warehouse, black hoods having just been removed from their heads. They sit in a semicircle of plastic chairs with an elderly human at the centre and an Ork with an assault rifle flanking the group.>I mean you no harm, ladies and gentlemen, in fact I have a job for you. I would like you to kill me.Reactions from the group are mixed.Keishi asks him why he wants to die.Kyonshi shoots him a blank stare as she extends her cyberspur.Ikiryo is shocked, and asks him to repeat himself.Nivaldo rolls initiative.
>>20099941The thing that keeps most infected from taking cyberware is the regeneration power. Ghouls don't have that, so you can take cyber to your heart's content. Which kinda brings me to my next question, how did Geppetto get so fucked up, crunchwise. Cuz the regeneration power seems like it would take care of any flesh wounds, did he have to burn a point of edge to survive?
>>20100260Regeneration can't heal magic damage. I imagine he took a few hits from the MageCops.
>>20100248>>20100215Skyline is angered about having been taken here by force, and asks the man why he was kidnapped with the usual politeness of an Ork Hacker. The man calmly replies that everyone gathered is free to take their best shot at killing him, and adds that there is a 50 thousand nuyen reward if they are successful.Ikiryo begins to assense the man, as Nivaldo gets up from his seat and makes an unarmed attack.
>>20099949Having some small experience with men who think they should die - and a healthy suspicion, he would say, for an easy job - Kalfu was rather annoyed when the punk broke him.###Keishi's sheet is your typical Voodoo Powerhouse. The only problem is that he actually respects and serves his Mentor, Kalfu. Who is Adversary. But not much like that of Geppetto, Kalfu is a god of the outside spaces of crossroads, of bad luck, darkness, destruction, evil spirits and transformation of the mind and body. But he controls these forces, and often helps mortals - with no sinister trick that undoes it all in the end. He prides himself on his knowledge of many other Loa, and is violent, but rational. So right away, that tells you a lot about Keishi. His spells are all around the theme above: Detect Life (Extended), Mind Probe, Increase Reflexes, Physical Mask, Trid Phantasm, Alter Memory, Animate, Control Thoughts, Levitate, Mana Static, Shape Metal, Shapechange His summons, well, Kalfu knows many Loa. What stops Keishi from summoning a Task Spirit with "Gamebreaking" at Rating 10 is that pesky "respect" thing I mentioned above. Turns out that there's a very good reason only Possession traditions get Task spirits... well, except Quabbalism, the jerks.
>>20100271The man displays the usual reaction to an 11P facepunch (Critical strike+killing hands, YEAH) which is to futilely gasp for air through his broken neck.Ikiryo whitens as the man's lifeless body hits the warehouse floor, while Kyonshi idly retracts her cyberspur, trembling from her MBW.Keishi is nonplussed. "You're a hasty one eh? I could have found out everything he knew, and if this job was legit."Ikiryo's composure further deteriorates upon seeing the results of her assensing, and the fact that she had successfully assensed someone who was supposed to be dead. "There was....Something...Off with him"
>>20100276Oh, and this video did not actually influence his character much, but I should note that I can do all of it.And with Keishi's liking for playing up to the stereotypes, he may well end up doing all of it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZAY-78zhmw
>>20100276Seeing as my teammate seems to be talking about his character, I might as well start with Ikiryo.Ikiryo is...really in the wrong line of work. She's opposed to violence, allergic to soy, softhearted and just wants to help people. Unfortunately, since Haley's comet came for another pass and she grew pointy ears, she's managed to get kicked out of her previously happy family, spent several months on the streets as japan and finally made it to Seattle. Now she just wants to earn enough to live happily and look after her friend, Kyonshi. Odds are she's not going to succeed...but one can try.Build-wise, she's a Dryad (Modified) Shinto Summoner, with much more of a focus on spirits than spell slinging. The few spells she does have are mostly related to her skills as a medical doctor. If you want someone to install some new 'ware or patch up a bullet hole, she's pretty damn good.Despite a rather scientific look at the world, she's deeply faithful to her Shinto religion, in particular Amaterasu, who she believes has watched over her. The Sun Mentor Spirit is the reason for the modified Shinto, as Shinto lacks Fire or Guardian.Much like Kalfu, she's very respectful to her spirits, though she's more willing to call them for small things. After all, a fair trade isn't much of a trouble for the minor Kami and more praise than they will get otherwise.

A question about initiative passes and firearms:Single-shot weapons can only be fired once and semi-automatic twice per turn no matter how many initiative passes you have, right? Also GE Vindicator Minigun's barrels require 1 Simple Action to reach firing speed. I assume that you can't just use your first initiative pass to make them spin and then fire the minigun during your second initiative pass. Am I correct?
>>20100358SS is once per turn. SA is once per simple action. Long bursts are also once per turn, but you can do what you described there. On another note, sorry that this is more of a transcript and less of a story.
>>20100358no, they can be fired once/twice per passyou can use your first pass to start it and your second pass to fire
>>20100358Nope. Semi Auto can fire 2x per init pass. And yes, you can do that with a minigun.I THINK Single Shot is just 1x init pass...but I don't have the book with me, so I can't say 100% but I'm mostly sure.
>>20100370It's fine. It's still fun to read.
SS can fire once per action phase.
>>20100358With the minigun, you can use one simple action to spin the barrels and a second simple action to fire a long burst
>>20100374>>20100372>>20100358>Simple actions>Fire weapon: A character may fire a ready firearm in single-shot, semi-automatic, or burst-fire mode via a Simple Action (See Firearms,p. 153). If a character has one weapon in each hand, he may fire once with each weapon by expending one Simple Action (see Attacker Using a Second Firearm,p. 150). Note that single-shot weapons may be fired only once per Action Phase.Likewise, only one long burst may be fired in each Action Phase.
>>20100391That's a houserule, but one that is pretty minor. Long bursts are a complex action and the vigilant can only fire long bursts.
Single shot fires once per action phase, Semi-auto twice per action phase.Core 142 or 153 in 20th anniversary.
>>20100397No, long bursts are a simple action that you may only make one of per action phase.
>>20100405I stand corrected.
>>20100296The surprise works its way through the group, as the man scrabbles for his cane, and slowly rises with what appears to be a perfectly normal neck.Displaying the level-headed thought that Cram users are known to exhibit, Nivaldo quickdraws his SMG and empties a short burst into the mystery man's torso. The bullets flood into his chest as his head hits the floor for a second time.Skyline retains some actual composure, and guesses that the man made a bad pact with a spirit, telling the mages of his findings.
>>20100428Hell of a pact.
>>20100428I'm going to gloss over the negotiations. Important info>Johnson gives us a picture of a person (cloned?) who he believes is similarly immortal and wants us to raid an EVO facility to extract him. Babby's first milk run,my ass.>Nivaldo decides Ikiryo is the most trustworthy person in the group (due to glamour) and they exchange commcodes>Keishi gets the feeling that the J is hiding something due to a judge intentions roll, and casts mind probe. Despite his dp of 15, he gets only 1 hit and decides it was nothing.>Keishi is able to aid on the Teamwork con test test via good RPing despite not having anyone else's commcode. He spends his only point of edge, and gets one hit. it was a five.>From the con test, the J tells us that the condition began in the first wave of UGE where he wished to survive an ambush on his WHO expedition and had [something, we don't know yet] fufill it.>Ikiryo gets 3 hits out of 16, and is able to raise the pay for the extraction to 5.5k from the original price of 5k.>We get a pass for free drinks at a nearby pub. This is where the good stuff begins.
>>20100620>>20100620Introductions are made and commcodes exchanged between all team members. Feeling a need to amp up the level of pink mohawk in the session, everyone in the group receives the following message as they receive the following message from Nivaldo "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to rail some cram in the washroom, and I'd appreciate it if some food was waiting for me when I return."Skyline hands the barkeep 300 nuyen and buys a round for everyone currently in the pub.

omg omg whyyyyy is my fanart at home where I can't post it?
Damn, Geptto. Damn.Live forever, you crazy bastard.
And now I'm basing a BBEG off of Gepetto for my pathfinder game. Elven banshee/vampire that channels Satan, summons demons and loathes children? Hell yes.
>>20103228Oh man, you'll have to wait for the end of Shadowrun Storytime. Geppetto essentially becomes the BBEG of someone else's campaign in the aftermath.
>>20103396Current BBEG is an aboleth that BOTH parties are working for unwittingly, because they refuse to investigate him and he's also very good at illusions. Hoping they take him out at the end of this bit of story arc, but I've been stuck trying to think of something more horrible to pit them against. Geppetto fits that description extremely well.
>>20103396Also>waiting for the end of storytimeI want to finish this story but I don't want it to be over D:
A Troll with Exceptional Attribute (STR) and Genetic Optimization (STR) could have up to 18 STR(or BOD), correct?Anyone have a good way to describe those type of stats? My crunch-fu in Shadowrun is weak and I'm not sure how those numbers hold up in play
>>20104096Body 18 is higher than the future version of the ford f-150. That's approaching the tier of pornomancy, and I don't think your gm would be too pleased with you bringing that to a session.
>>20104096Your unarmored flesh is tougher than many industrial metals. That is some bullshit, that is.
>>20104096Just for a comparison, a Body 15 makes you the size of a dragon and gives you 15 boxes of Condition Monitor iirc. Also it is possible to create an unaugmented starting char with Body 15 (Fomori ghoul).
>>20104204>>20104237Now I feel bad for thinking that sounds awesome.(I'm working on a human rigger anyway, I just came across it and was curious)
>>20104330No, it IS awesome. It's just so broken as to disrupt the game.
>>20104330I still think it sounds awesome. And it's even kinda balanced since you will have to spend a buttload of money, time and karma on these attributes. And they could be spent better.
Hey, I have a question. Are drones allowed to compete in Combat Biking?I ask because I have a rigger character who's modified a bunch of bikes to be drones, and rides one himself (a revolution), and I was pondering if, when I get enough for a full team, if I could supplement my shadow income with amatuer combat biking.
>>20104605No. Though you might be able to find a Drone League if you look hard enough. It'll probably be pretty ameture though.
>>20104650Hmm, damn. Would've been a spectacle. "WE HAVE ONE MAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. AGAINST THE PREMIER AMATEUR LEAGUE COMBAT BIKER TEAM OF SEATTLE, ONE UNKNOWN HAS STEPPED FORWARD WITH HIS DRONES TO SHOW THEM WHAT BIKING IS REALLY ABOUT!""Some say he's a retired Tir Ghost. Others that he's an AI stuck inside his armor. All we know... is he's called the Stig."I almost feel bad about what I just said. Almost.
>>20104605>>20104650>>20104702Actually, what about metasapients? Could AIs compete in combat biking?
>>20104743>>20104605It would probably be required that the AI/rigger compete in a humanoid drone/cyborg body actually on the bike, considering a big part of the game's rules are about knocking dudes off their bikes. On a separate note, I'm back. Eating lunch now, will be posting sometime in the foreseeable future. God DAMN the UO run was a long one.
>>20104911I'd be fine with putting drone/cyborg bodies on the bikes and coding my Pilot buddies to cease and desist when they're knocked off. And my guy drives with his drones, so he could get knocked off just like any other biker, so.
>>20100685The GM had to leave the channel for his dinner, and I learned just how player-driven SR can be.Meth'd up, Nivaldo began to get all sorts of terrible ideas, and settled on returning from the washroom with his chameleon coating active. Ikiryo orders a soft drink and wishes the group success, Skyline doing likewise with his pitcher of lager. Just as some actual shit might have gotten done, a scream split the ears of everyone at the table as a tacsuited elf was revealed to have bumped into Kyonshi's active shock glove.Ikiryo sighed at the interruption. "I'm not patching you up after that.'Keishi simply laughed, and offered him the seat adjacent to him and a shot of Whisky, neither of which were appropriate treatments for someone already halfway passed out.Introductions continue over drinks, and we learn that Skyline is effectively useless offline, and that Ikiryo is a pacifist.
>>20105139Seeing an opportunity to liven things up a little, the following exchange occurred via commlink between Skyline and Nivaldo. "I'll give you 5 nuyen if you send Ikiryo a snuff trid within the next 2 minutes". "Make it 20 and we've got a deal." "I thought you said DWARVES were the greedy ones?" "Non-negotiable." "15 nuyen, that's my final offer."Nivaldo had a brief instant for his eyes to light up in panic as he saw Skyline go limp in VR, and found his own AR display totally unresponsive.
>>20105276Kyonshi tensed, trembling as her MBW came back online and she extended her cyberspurs. All eyes were on her as she spent the next 15 seconds consumed in a flashback of her days in the bunraku parlor.>HEY HONEYBUNS, LOOK WHAT I DID IN THE BATHROOM! ~Nivaldo>[Enclosed: dick pic]She lunged at nivaldo, spurs first and screaming at the top of her lungs. Thankfully, the autoinjector in her armor sensed the adrenaline rush, and administered a dose of dopadrine while she was in midair. Her limp body glanced off his shoulder as Nivaldo attempted to stammer out an explanation.
>>20105344Hey Niv, are you wrapping this up, or should I go ahead and post, or what?
>>20105741By all that is holy, you have our attention 2D
>>20105741Post. Mine is kinda crappy and hasn't been gettting my full attention.
>>20105741>>20099769The team gathered around a table in what was once the old hospital cafeteria. The plates and trays were still in use by the hospital's Infected inhabitants, but the cafeteria slop was a little...bloodier now. Geppetto greedily, shamelessly sucked the blood out of a piece of unidentifiable human meat, occasionally choking a bit when the fluid leaking from his eye dripped down over his nose and mouth.Wildcard, Bend, and Dervish did their best not to cringe."Okay, so here's what we've got," said Dervish, gesturing to one of the commlinks in the phone-sack. "I managed to get a hold on one of Brianna's disposables; UO doesn't know about it. She says she's working on a distraction that will take some of the heat off us. She says to wait a few days for couriers to distribute the information off the UO research nexus, though."Wildcard nodded."I figured as much. Geppetto, I hope you don't mind that, since we're going to be late on our week deadline, I called up Mr. Johnson and got us a week extension. Johnson halved our pay."Geppetto grumbled, but nodded slowly."That's fair; we fucked up, big time. I'm thinking our first step is to retrieve the camera. UO thought we were trying a datasteal. On the plus side, that means that they won't be looking carefully for an extraction."Bend gawked."You want me to go back in there!?"Geppetto stared him down. With his new facial features, it was more imposing than usual."Yes, I want you to go back in there, Bend, and do your goddamn job. And then you're going to go in there AGAIN to get Doctor Chang's research files. Assuming they're not getting transferred."
>>20105956Storytime woo!Question, TwoDee: is there anything wrong with playing an AI in a Shadowrun game? I rarely hear about them being used, and I've been experimenting with an AI Rigger for an upcoming game. I intend to eventually buy a Mitsuhama Otomo to allow the character to fake being a real person, and support a fake lifestyle with some AR until I can get it.
>>20106049From what I heard in a previous discussion, they run into annoying problems because everything is so expensive.
>>20106049AIs are just hard to play. Due to the fact that they only have mental stats, and their effectiveness actually relies on their lifestyle, there's an extremely thin line between an optimized munchkinny AI and an AI that's worse than a normal hacker, and that line relies on karma balance.>>20105956It was the dawn of the second week when the invisible kangaroo hopped through the backyards of the suburbs around the UO compound, keeping an eye out for any flying drones. The coast was clear, but there were loud noised coming from the compound, and the sound of approaching police cars from the suburbs. As Bend approached the compound, he found the source; a group of runners in what looked to be an Ares Citymaster had broken through the fence. With a "THUNKA-THUNKA-THUNKA," a troll with an assault cannon carved his way through a line of stalled traffic, sending the UO whitecoats taking cover on the other side stumbling. Screaming civilians ran for the safety of the arcology.Bend returned to his natural elven form and popped earbuds, calling up Brianna's backup number."Hey, Brianna? Your little fix for the problem wouldn't have been sending a bunch of runners on a job at the UO complex, would it?""Technically, not MY fix. I just let people down the fixer network grapevine know that UO was sending out couriers in response to a datasteal. Eventually somebody would do something stupid, UO would clean up, and the heat would be off you boys."Bend nodded appreciatively, not that Brianna could have seen it even if she was there."Clever. Man, they're going full terrorist out there."
>>20106261The helicopter that had assaulted Wildcard a few days ago passed the compound in a strafing run, and with an extended volley of minigun fire the right side of the troll's upper body turned into a pink mist. A milspec-suited gun-sammy and a tacsuited infiltrator dragged a screaming whitesuit into the back of the Citymaster."...And that'd be one of the couriers. Man, the business breeds some dumb runners. How do they think they're going to get out of this?""I don't think you get to talk about dumb runners today, Bend.""Touche."Bend slipped over the perimeter fence as a white-painted SWAT tank rumbled up from the depths of the parking structure. As he slipped into the employee village, there was a cacaphonic exchange of fire, and then silence, save for the rattle of a few more distant small-arms in withering suppressive fire."I think that about does it for our scapegoats. Lucky way to take them out, too--scorched the bodies so they can't say for sure if we were in there or not. Although I'm not sure I approve of glorified human shield tactics, Brianna. Runner solidarity and all that.""There's a lot you don't approve of, Bend. If you need any more help, call me up."With that, Bend's comms went silent.
On the subject of assualt cannons: Is there any way to mod one to be belt fed? It looks like you can't even mod one to be fully automatic, RAW, since don't assualt cannon rounds count as 'exotic ammo?Hell, you can't even put a drum magazine on one.
>>20106319Approaching Chang's house, Bend found the lights off, but the flower bushes had been disturbed again. Fishing around for a moment, he recovered the hairpin. Pocketing it, he wasted no time in getting back out of the UO complex before UO got wise to the fact that there were more runners than accounted for on the premises. The team reviewed their footage back in their ghoul hospital temporary base. Chang had been incredibly thorough--over the course of a few days, she'd found an excuse to walk through almost every relevant floor, office to office, lab to lab. She'd even brought a batch of cupcakes to the guys in the security nexus. What was most interesting was the AR displays with which she worked. Her research remained on the nexus; from what the team could gather, it was chemical data on a new line of experimental "smart" immunosuppressants. The team began to formulate a plan."If we can special-order a ceramic simrig," commented Wildcard, "we could sneak it into her office and have her wear it, then just go through all of her research systematically before deleting it off the system. There'd be no record of an unauthorized copy, but all of the research would exist on the simsense recording."Bend whined,"I'm going to have to deal with the Eyes, again, aren't I?""Oh, take one for the team, Bend," spat Geppetto, fiddling with his wheelchair. "Lord knows I have."
>>20106499Off the top of my head I don't think so, but I'm sure you can find something stupid in War! or Gun Haven 1 and 2 if you look hard enough. Also, I apologize for my slow posting rate. Working on some stuff while I storytime.
>>20106524Well damn, I hate using War!. Guess I'll look in the Gun Heavens.... I just wanted a dwarf who waddles around with a fully automatic assault cannon, belt-fed through his drone named Little Buddy.
>>20106514Was that Gepetto being bitter, or Gepetto's player? Maybe a little of both?
>>20106608Maybe it's just what I've absorbed from TwoDee's description of Geppetto's player, but I'd be rather surprised if he felt bitter about how things turned out.
Man, I need to get my Shadowrun fix. Anyone hosting anything on Roll20 I could get in on?
>>20106631>>20106608That was Geppetto being bitter. Geppetto's player is one of the chillest people I know.>>20106514Bend approached the unmarked grey van. It had parked outside of the Tamanous hospital at his call. It waited. Ominously, it waited. As he approached, the side door slid open, beckoning him to enter. All the seats and upholstery had been removed, and there was a barrier separating the driver from the empty space in back. Of course, Bend had no doubt that the driver wasn't actually in the van at all, but rather rigging it remotely. As he stepped into back, there was a "pfft" as the van began flooding with neurostun and DMSO. Bend sighed loudly, in the process breathing deep of the chemical cocktail. He awoke, as per the usual, blindfolded and tied to a chair. Between this and the talismonger Vulcan, Bend was getting used to this sort of thing. A synthesized voice asked,"What do you need, son?"Bend cleared his throat of some lingering phlegm (neurostun did tend to do a number on the sinuses) and answered,"A simrig. Plastic and ceramic components. We need as little wiring in it as possible, or if that's impossible, we need the electronics to be shielded. I want to be able to walk through a MAD scanner.""That's going to cost you.""I know. 5 grand good?"The voice barked back,"Six thousand.""How about 5 and a quarter?""Six thousand.""Five and a half?""Six thousand."Bend didn't know why he bothered trying to barter with The Eyes."Done. Two days?""Three.""Sounds good. Pay-"With a THUNK, a neurostun syringe planted itself in Bend's arm. He woke up sprawled outside the hospital again."...I HATE that guy."
>>20106776Heh, I love this guy, he's an amusing character.
ok so I've just gone through war! and I think I may have come across something interesting... A spell called designate. It mentions that as long as you cast and sustain the spell on a target you can smack them with spells out of the line of sight... does this mean that a spellcaster could do some rather improv ritual casting or am I missing something?
>>20106846Just ignore everything in war! as a matter of course.
>>20106776Wildcard asked,"You sure you're up for this, Bend?"The team sat in the sedan a few blocks away from the UO complex. Bend took a deep breath, let it out, and then extended his arms to wildcard."As much as I'll ever be. You've got the portable MAD scanner. Scan me."Wildcard ran the scanner over Bend while Bend grumbled aloud, patronizingly,"Magic isn't everything, Bend. You should get some cyberware, Bend. Who cares if you pop in MAD scanners, Bend. Well, look at me now!""I don't know if any of us, specifically, ever told you that, Bend," said Wildcard, putting away the scanner. "You're clean. Get in there and get out quick; we can't help you once you're inside. Dervish and I will be armed up if you get spotted on the way out, though."Bend nodded, his joking edge losing ground to his on-the-job persona."Right. Wish me luck.""Godspeed."Bend stepped out of the car, and then vanished into thin air as he made for the hole in the perimeter fence.
>>20106937Geppetto looks about as happy with an eye like that as you could possibly be. Dervish lurks around these threads, but I'll have to show these to Geppetto and Bend's players!
>>20106989Bend approached the employee entrance, and worked his way up the veritable labyrinth of security measures on the interior. Most of the weapons scanners, metal detectors, and such could be gecko-gripped over, or slipped past. A few doors required employee IDs. In those cases, he could simply lift an ID off an employee or, more commonly, follow an employee in. Only one MAD scanner in particular had laser triggers and pressure pads around it to prevent circumvention, and it was at the end of the employee partition before the research labs. Steeling himself, he slipped through just before one of the researchers, but the alarm didn't trigger. Instead, the researcher and the guard made small talk about the latest Urban Brawl match while Bend disappeared into the employee hallways. The labs of the UO complex were decidedly less sinister than Bend thought they would be. Although they continued in the theme of the pristine white aesthetic, no one was doing any horrible surgeries or torturing any secret prisoners. Mostly it was a bunch of people working with gloves in sealed containers, and more than that researchers seated at desks, in offices and cubicles, carrying out their research via remote mechanical "hands" in sealed laboratories near to the research nexus. Even more were simply reviewing and editing research documents. The UO doctors were chatty and cliquish, often standing over each others' desks to talk about their latest accomplishments.Jennifer Chang sat at her desk, adjusted for her small size, while eating her lunch. She tooled around with her research, pretending to work, when an elf appeared next to her, placing a subvocal mic over her throat. Once again, she was startled, but not surprised."Idiot! There's a camera!"
>>20107241Bend pointed to the camera on the ceiling."That one? There's a trid phantasm of you slacking off on the job while eating a chicken wrap over the lens.""Smart. That doesn't mean you're not a week late, Sean.""We renegotiated. I need your help getting your research off the nexus. Your extraction is tomorrow."Chang shook her head."I can't make copies. I can only view the research from my desk node."Bend produced the small spy-toy simrig."I know. It's why I brought this."Chang's eyes lit up."Ingenious. Stick around for twenty minutes, and for the love of god turn your cloak back on."Chang tucked the simrig into place, and adjusted her labcoat and hair to cover it. Slowly, systematically, she went through every one of her research notes in review, occasionally taking the time to spin 3-D models of various chemical chains around in AR space. She was approached by co-workers a few times, but would always shoo them off, saying that she "thought she was on to something, and would catch up to [them] later."After almost exactly twenty minutes, she detached the simrig and handed it back to Bend."All my data should be on here, now. Where's the extraction going down?""Keep your commlink on."As Bend disappeared back into the halls, making for the employee partition again, he tapped his subvocal and hit up Wildcard."Wildcard. Stage two."
I made a less shitty scan of my fanart from the previous thread. I humbly present it to you here.
A question: If you are a mystic adept, can you assign 0 points to either magic or adept? I'm working on a Gorgon-themed infiltrator right now and it's looking that I want to toss all 5 magic at being a mage for now (To improve petrify) and maybe pick up Kinesis and stuff later down the track.
>>20107477Oh, cool. That's good to know. Though...they only know 3 spells...so they are not exactly the best 'Mage'.Petrify, Improved Invisibility and Realistic Mask. Still, should be enough to let them be a good infiltrator since they can be anyone or no-one at all.
>>20107281As Chang went down to grab a small dessert with her handlers, her commlink was hacked. A single message was left, which read:"HELLO, DOCTOR JENNIFER CHANG, AND WELCOME TO THE EXCHANGE! AS YOU HEAD DOWN TO THE MALL, PLEASE TAKE THE ESCALATOR UP AND DOWN TWICE BEFORE HEADING OUT. YOU WILL THEN RECEIVE A KARMIC REWARD!"Back in the car, Dervish grunted at Wildcard,"I still think this is a stupid idea.""Everyone knows The Exchange, Dervish.""Everyone knows The Exchange is weird as hell. How do you know her handlers will go along with this?""It's free stuff. Hard to turn down free stuff."As soon as Bend verified that Chang did indeed take the escalator multiple times before heading down again, Wildcard used one of his scrap commlinks to buy three tickets to one of the latest late-summer blockbuster shitfests."CONGRATULATIONS, DOCTOR CHANG! YOU HAVE WON THREE TICKETS TO SUKIE REDFLOWER FOUR: THE HALF-MOON CONSPIRACY! THE EXCHANGE PERSONALIZES YOUR KARMIC REWARDS BASED ON YOUR PREFERENCES! HAVE A NICE DAY!"Bend caught his last glimpse of Doctor Jennifer Chang, staring blankly at her commlink, as he slipped out of the UO arcology.
Oh man. THE EXCHANGE.I love it when a GM invokes them in-game. It just adds that extra level of weirdness to an SR game that I savor.
Sorry for asking more questions and interupting storytime but does this look right for a 'AOE Petrify'?Gorgon's Eyes+1 Physical Spell+2 Area+2 Major Physical Change (Person -> Stone Seems pretty major)So a total drain value of F/2+5?Also: Can an infiltrator or mage get by on only two init passes? I'll be likely using drugs for a second pass since I was a bit short on cash for a Sustaining Foci for Increase Reflexes.
>>20107788lolwut? What are these guys from?
>>20107548Dervish waited in the movie theater lobby. He had cut his hair short, had grown out a bit of a beard, and had his protective cybereye covers retracted, to avoid being an obvious match to "Dirk Steel," UO fugitive. Bend sat behind the three seats reserved for Chang and her handlers, not in his usual tactical gear but rather in his inconspicuous street clothes. Wildcard and Geppetto, the latter of whom was still very weak, were parked outside the theater in Wildcard's now-silver sedan."She's not going to show," commented Dervish over the tacnet."Yes she is," Wildcard shot back. "Never underestimate the power of "free." Greed short-circuits the mind.""Have you SEEN the reviews? It's the worst movie of the summer." Bend plucked up a few pieces of popcorn individually, eating them in the absolute wrong way to eat popcorn. "Not to mention apparently there's a twist where Sukie loses all her powers due to a negative background count, and then awakens again into a different tradition.""Now, that's just offensive," commented Geppetto. "These studios really need to have mages on staff when they write up shit like that; a five year old could tell them that's not how it works!""You complain about this and I complain about the inaccuracies in every 'Fast and the Furious' trid ever made," threatened Wildcard. "Your move, gentlemen."There was a short pause. Geppetto snickered, daubed at his eye-goo with a handkerchief, and turned to Wildcard."You've watched every Fast and the Furious trid?""...that wasn't what I meant and you know it.""You have absolutely watched every Fast and the Furious trid"
>>20107897What kind of AR does Wildcard use?
>>20107888I'm not sure which book they're mentioned in, but the idea is that THE EXCHANGE is an organization that'll ping your commlink, tell you to carry out some kind of task (usually delivering something, but the tasks can be as strange as writing a music review or as dangerous as rescuing a runner escaping the cops), and if the task is completed successfully, the contacted person gets some kind of "karmic reward" - usually credits, some kind of product, or (in rare cases) the service of a spirit for X amount of time.Thing is, nobody knows who THE EXCHANGE really is, so it's a great way for GMs to throw random shit in the SR world while still maintaining that level of post-cyberpunk weirdness.
>>20107962Huh, maybe they're a stand-alone complex of shadowrunner teams who use it as a bullshit excuse to get people to do things.Hmmmm...
>>20107897Doctor Jennifer Chang stepped out of the car, flanked by two bored-looking whitesuits. She was playing up the "devout fangirl" angle to a T."I swear, back in Tsukie Redflower 3 I swore that she loved Rex Carlson, but it turned out that she was really in love with Lu Peng, from that secret guild of assassins--""Jenny, I know. We've been over this. Know that we're going to this movie as a favor to you."Jennifer sighed melodramatically."I know. Hey! Let's get a hot dog! I haven't been to the theaters in FOREVER.Chang gave Bend a brief, knowing glance as she sat in front of him, before being flanked by her two guards. Bend nodded subtly, but kept his eyes on the screen.About thirty minutes into the movie, Bend stepped outside. He made a point of being louder than usual, making "excuse me" comments to the people on either side of him.About six minutes afterwards, Chang stepped out to go to the bathroom. Although one handler followed her to the bathroom door, Bend was already inside--with an invisibility effect on him, maintained by Geppetto.Activating his foci, Bend cast a Body Double effect on Chang. While the real Chang waited in the bathroom, Dervish began making a commotion in the lobby, screaming about a lack of sweetness in his frosted confection. With her bodyguard momentarily distracted, Chang stepped out into the lobby long enough for Geppetto to look in through the facade of the movie theater, sitting in the car. With a quick spell, he rendered her invisible. The body double stepped out of the bathroom a moment later, puppeted by Bend. It asked the guard,"What's that guy's problem?""I don't know, Jenny. I think he's diabetic or something. Let's get back into the theater."
>>20108209Smooth as silk. You chaps win, even after getting sprung, you chaps win.
>>20108209DERVISH DEMANDS TASTEE-FREEZE
>>20108209Bend paid attention to the body double long enough to walk it back to its seat, and then set it on a looping series of "oohs," "ahs," and popcorn-munching. The real doctor stepped into the back of Wildcard's car, and was swiftly rejoined by Bend. As the ushers came running, Dervish also left the theater, returning to his motorbike.Doctor Chang leaned over to Wildcard."The rendezvous point is in Snohomish. Is this a fast car?""Lady, you have no idea."After a surprisingly uneventful--save for Wildcard's absolute destruction of the local traffic laws--drive, the team pulled up in front of a farmhouse in Snohomish. Two men in black suits carrying H&K submachine guns opened the back doors of the sedan, and Doctor Chang conversed quietly with them before going inside the farmhouse. One of the men said, blankly, in an imposing fashion that seemed almost at odds with the content of his message,"Mr. Johnson will meet your team for lunch tomorrow at 12:15, at the Nacho Mama near the Auburn Shopping Center on Main Street West."Geppetto blinked."Mr. Johnson is meeting us for fast-food Mexican?""He was in the mood.""That's a little insulting."The guard turned around and began stalking back towards the house."That's not for me to say. Good day, sir."
>>20107918Since Wildcard is a combat hacker, typically he works in AR, rather than VR. He's too active to sit still for long.>>20107323Eeeee! That is my noise of happiness that I am making.

>>20108303Right, in Shadowrun "AR" = Augmented Reality...So, what kind of Assault Rifle does Wildcard use?
>>20108387It's a highly-modified Ares High Velocity Assault Rifle (HVAR). It's got a bunch of gas-vent compensation, a gyromount, and a drum magazine, typically filled with gel rounds or APDS.>>20108295As the car pulled away, Geppetto growled,"They were fucking with us. As though less than absolute perfection is insulting."Wildcard gripped his steering wheel tight, tense."I think they were within their rights, Geppetto.""How!? We did the fucking job, that's all they can ask."Wildcard turned to look Geppetto right in the eyes, and revealed,"Their AR feeds. All the text was in German."Geppetto took a moment to put two and two together."Oh...oh fuck."Dervish asked, over the tacnet,"Soo....tacos with Saeder-Krupp?"Bend nodded soberly."Tacos with Saeder-Krupp."Mr. Johnson was a strange sight. To keep within the theme of dressing much lower than his station, he was wearing a powder blue business suit with rumpled shoulders. Considering that Johnson himself was a man of impeccable handsomeness and poise, it was a little weird to see him snarfing down a burrito at a fast-food Mexican restaurant."Gentlemen! I heard you had some minor setbacks?""Ha ha," said Geppetto glumly, sliding into the booth after putting his crutches aside.
>Friend and I playing as anti-corporate terrorist with Communist leanings.>Decide the best way to stick it to the corporations is bombing a food mascot convention.>Sneak in dressed as hot dogs.>Set bombs.>Ride out of convention center on an ATV and blow the whole convention center sky high!>Chased by a squadron of corporate security cars and a helicopter. >Glorious vehicle chase/shoot-out that we barely escape from.>Countless civilians hurt or killed in the process.>Lenin proud.
>>20108512>It's a highly-modified Ares High Velocity Assault Rifle (HVAR). It's got a bunch of gas-vent compensation, a gyromount, and a drum magazine, typically filled with gel rounds or APDS.How do you mean, "highly-modified"? Through house rules? Because I thought that particular gun couldn't mount any of the things you just listed.
>>20108595Hot DAMN you are proficient lately. I'll have to be quicker about Shadowrun Storytime if I keep getting rewarded with fanart!(The next story isn't nearly as heavy as this one, so it should be a lot easier to write)>>20108512"You know exactly what happened, Mr. Johnson," noted Wildcard, while punching in an order for "the works" nachos on the table's AR display. "And we're prepared to accept half-pay. We did get Chang out as ordered, though.""Yes, and you needed to pull in a time extension and--correct me if I'm wrong--a lot of favors," countered Mr. Johnson, with a smile. His statuesque face was marred by a little bit of shredded cheese stuck on his lip. "Consider this you boys' wake-up call."Johnson brought out a credstick with 50,000 nuyen on it, and gave it to Wildcard, before forwarding half of the expense account to Wildcard's commlink."But you still did a good job in the end. So I'm prepared to make you an offer."Geppetto looked at Mr. Johnson suspiciously."Oh?"

>>20108733DON'T DO IT BROYOU KNOW THE RULESSHOOT STRAIGHTCONSERVE AMMOAND DON'T DEAL WITH ANY FUCKING DRAGONS
>>20108646The HVAR just can't be mounted with underbarrel accessories, and that's the only restriction. Everything on there is legal. So, no grenade launchers and the like. The gyromount isn't actually a bipod, it's more like a harness.>>20108733"Your fixer is just getting into the big leagues, and I'm a very important Johnson. I can pass word around--let everyone know that you and your guys are up for the big stuff, and she's the way to contact you. I'll vouch for you personally on the Johnson networks. You might even get rich out of it. What do you say?"Wildcard nodded."That sounds quite amenable, Mr. Johnson."Bend nodded, although less swiftly than Wildcard."Yes, I agree. I hope we're professional enough for it."Dervish grinned at Mr. Johnson."Hell, I been waiting for a big break since my first milk run."A mutual good-natured laugh sounded around the table. Geppetto stood up, a thin smile on his lips."Get a new mage, you suicidal fucks. I quit."With that, Geppetto retrieved his crutches and began slowly making his way out of the Nacho Mama. After about a minute of stunned silence, Johnson asked,"Who's gonna eat his taco?">SHADOWRUN STORYTIME 15/END>Geppetto's face when

>>20108816> "Get a new mage, you suicidal fucks. I quit."You magnificent bastard.I salute you, Gepetto. May your retirement be peaceful and your magic be strong.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER TO POST THIS.
>>20108816HVAR from Arsenal: "It cannot be equipped with barrel- or underbarrel-mounted accessories""Gas-vent systems can be built into machine pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, and machine guns. Installing them takes up the barrel mount""Ammo boxes or drums store ammo belts for belt-feed weapons" the HVAR is not belt-fed.and mount for Gyro Stabilization is listed as "Under" in the core book. I would love to be wrong on this.
>>20108928On closer inspection of Wildcard's character sheet, he did not have a gyromount at all, but rather a "hip pad bracing system." I think it's in Arsenal. The drum magazine is on here, though, and was totally my bad. I don't feel especially bad about it because he never spent more bullets in a single encounter than would be in an extended mag, but I still feel kind of dirty inside for not bothering to check for so long.>>20108862Oh dear christ.Pic very related.
So... would a control rig cyberware trigger M.A.D. scanners?Because... well.. it's a very nifty piece of tech for riggers, and, unlike cybereyes, I've not found an external version.
>>20109115And, come to think of it, am I just wasting karma by taking 3 in all pilot skills with remote specialization? Does using a drone's movement methods while jumped in require the pilot skill?
>>20109115Unless you specifically shelled out for biocompatible ceramics and plastic, with minimal shielded electronics, yeah, I would think so. Way I figure it, turning metahuman thought into computer commands and vice-versa takes a lot of wires and sensors. MAD scanners love that shit.Of course, if your GM happens to be cool like the one from SRST, you could always step into a certain grey step-van and take a deep breath...
>>20108928>>20108928Also, the numbers I have listed here for gas-vent match the innate recoil comp from the HVAR. So I guess I always just pictured that in my head as gas-vent or something, I have no fucking clue, but the comp pans out. Still cocked up on the drums, though. Here's the full gun off the sheet:>Ares HVAR>Internal Smartgun (inbuilt)>Gas Vent 3 (inbuilt)>Stock (inbuilt)>Hip Pad Bracing Sling (added)>Electronic Firing (added)>Extended Clip (Drum) [my bad]>Personalized Grip (added)>Reduced Weight (added)>Recoil comp 5 (gas vent 3, personalized grip 1, hip brace/stock 1) [I think I wasn't counting the brace and stock together because it was so cheesy]>198 shots APDS>100 shots Gel>50 shots Ex-Ex
>>20109226Actually, with Extended Clip you can make an assault rifle take a drum. "A larger increase requires the clip-loading mechanism to be exchanged for a drum loading mechanism. This setup, available for SMGs and assault rifles, allows attachment of an ammo drum with an ammo capacity of 50 (+2 to concealability) or 100 (+4 to concealability)"Arsenal page 150.
>>20109261Hooray! I wasn't having a blatant inaccuracy on my sheet for a year's worth of gameplay!
>>20108928While an external version is illegal, Internal Gas-Vent System doesn't take up a accessory slot, so it's legal.Ammo Drums are an extended Clip feature, again an internal modification, which swap the clip for a drum-loading mechanism.
Players posted campaign intro in a Shadowrun Storytime thread? I am so happy, I don't even know what to say. Need to write up something better next time, Nivaldo.
>>20109344Hey ODIN. At some point (If you are free), you need to run the magical adventures of the Miko and the Voodoo Priest.Don't worry if you are busy though.
So I hear people call out the.... form...fitting body armour? as cheesy, but why does no one talk about the SecureTech PPP-System
>>20109612It's equally cheesy, but at least you can't wear it EVERYWHERE. It's pretty obviously armor.Myself, I ban the PPP system on anything above an armor jacket. It's just silly to imagine glorified strapping football pads onto a set of SWAT gear and expecting it to not be cumbersome.
>>20109666>It's equally cheesy, but at least you can't wear it EVERYWHERE. It's pretty obviously armor.Err...."Each piece of armor is available in at least three styles: as discreet protection designed to be worn beneath other clothing, as an obvious strapped addition to other visible armor, and as sports equipment."That first style...
>>20109704I've always read that as a social acceptance thing more than legitimate concealment. Think the outline/bulge of armor plates beneath a t-shirt. I don't make enemies make tests to see PPP in any form, for example.
I wish I could get in on a game of Shadowrun, I never have any luck with SR campaigns sticking together; the DMs that I've had the pleasure of hosting the campaigns for me tend to drop the group for one reason or another. I used to GM Shadowrun, and did for a year before I ended it, I don't want to get stuck as the forever DM again and finally get to play, but alas I don't think I'll get to join a group anytime soon.
Question about character creation! One of my friends wants to make a Chinese Hopping Vampire because he's a weird little guy. I figure it'd just be more thematic than an ACTUAL Chinese Hopping Vampire, and while I don't know the cybernetic implant equipment that well, I gotta figure there has to be some kind of springheel implant for bouncing. I also have to figure that if you're gonna be a Chinese Hopping Vampire, you also have to be, uh, a vampire.Due to my lack of knowledge and his lack of lurking, I have a question. Can you be a vampire from the get-go in character creation?
>>20109975Yes, look at INfected Character Creation in Runner's Companion. It's not worth the cost, though.
>>20109859I usually go with PPP and an Armor vest, both the "discreet" options so from a glance it doesn't look /too/ obvious that you can take baseball bat to the pelvis/a bullet to the chest. I agree though, I wouldn't consider it stealthy armor.
>>20109975>Due to my lack of knowledgeAddress this issue immediately!
>>20109859Is there any reason by the RAW that someone couldn't wear FFBA, PPP, and Heavy Military Armor all at the same time?FFBA: When worn in combination with other pieces of armor, the form-fitting armor rating is added to the other armor’s rating.PPP: These armor pieces do not count as separate armor for purposes of encumbrance; instead, these items modify the rating of armor worn by their rating just as helmets and shields do.
>>20110027Not really. GM has final say though, as always.
>>20110027There's no reason why you wouldn't do that by RAW.However, there is a special rule in Shadowrun that gives your GM carte blanche to then send that character to a dingy cell with Bubba the Love Troll for a few weeks.Bubba keeps the armor as a trophy of his conquest, naturally.
>>20110027You could be an 18 body troll... with orthoskin or dermal plating too (I think)
>>20110006Got it. So instead it'd be a little more fortuitous to just get a wee bit infected with Rotting Plague Death.>The address nferalaI dunno Mr. Johnson, that's a risky neighborhood for me.
>>20110071I already took Mysterious Implant (25), I'm gonna make sure I earn whatever he's got planned for me.
>>20110071Oh god, I didn't want to be reminded about gay-love Trolls.. This one time the Elf Face and I (Ork Street Sammy) needed to rent a boat, and this guy happened to be renting. He was a big purple troll in a bathrobe, who as the GM described, "Looks up at you with longing in his eyes." He tried to pull the elf into his rape-boat by the arm after he declined the offering of a steak dinner and would've made a man out of the face if it wasn't for me chopping the love Troll's arm off. The DM got alot of pleasure out of describing how the Troll was acting, makes me wonder if he was a that-DM.
>>20110178I feel like a troll that memorable should have a title. Like Big Barry or the Pelvis Punisher, or something.
So, a friend of mine has homebrewed up some Free Spirit rules that hopefully aren't busted, and I was thinking of making a character to test 'em out. Trying to figure out if the Traditional Southern Gentleman Archetype (polite, efficient, well-polished, well-maintained, and if you mess with him or his he will end you) would be a Guardian Spirit, Guidance Spirit, or Spirit of Man, and what sort of tradition would have summoned such.http://pastebin.com/87a7Scpw is the rules thus far if you folks want to give them an eyeball. Still a WIP, costs are not yet final.
>>20110399Scratch, that's an old link, this is the current one: http://pastebin.com/5kSGcZVy
>>20109975Vampires suck.Nosferatu are just about doable however - they get 120 BP of stats and good powers for their 150BP cost. You'll need to take In Debt if you want any gear to go with your very limited skills though.
>>20110425By that measure, aren't vampires not far behind? You get 80 bp of stats for a 100 bp quality, and then the powers (and weaknesses) on top of that to boot.
>>20110316I think his name was Manny, but I'm not sure. The Elf face was proficient in unarmed combat and throat punched him, collapsing his trachea before we dumped his body unceremoniously in his pantry. We ended up afterwards burning his boat with him + two dead teammates, (failed the run, was a near TPK except for me and the Bear Shapeshifter wheelman) inside, essentially giving them all a Viking burial.
>>20110459You may well be right, I was surprised about Nosferatu and didn't check Vampires before throwing out an opnion - which I really should do.
>>20110459Okay, yeah, Vampires aren't that bad.Nosferatu still works better overall, is more flexible with Magical Tradition and has a better essence mechanic. But I just whipped up a Vampire Mage who is not shabby at all.So colour me corrected on that.
>>20110509But we can both agree that ghoul is broken, what with 110 bp worth of attributes for a 35 bp quality and the low, low price of a hunger for human flesh.
Oh yes, would you be able to use Shape Stone on people who have been Petrified? Looking for a Petrify-Happy Mystic Adept to stylishly deal with petrified targets beyond 'Take them apart with a Mono-filament whip'
>>20110621Oh you can go wild with Ghouls. Last night I whipped up a Ghoul Troll Mage with Shapechange...On the other hand, being Dual Natured and Being a Ghoul are both death sentences.
Suprathyroid Gland: "The Suprathyroid Gland provides an attribute bonus of +1 to the user’s Body, Agility, Reaction, and Strength."Is that amazing in some less than obvious way? What I mean is it doesn't seem worth spending the points for Restricted Gear when most of those can be increased with other ware and for cheaper.
>>20110071Firing Selection Change: This modification is not available for weapons using unusual loading mechanisms or exotic ammunition, like the Sakura Fubuki or Pain Inducer. It modifies the gun’s selection of firing modes to include more options. So no yamaha pulsar (taser that shoots capacitor darts) with full auto?I don't know enough about guns and tasers to make this call
>>20110839What gear will increase your actual bod? Not 'Bod for taking damage', actual bod.And it STACKS will those wonderful things that increase stats. And it's Bioware, so it's 1/2 essence if you have more cyber than bio.You won't get +1 to all physical stats that cheap individually. It's efficient.
>>20110734>Troll Ghoul>+4 Bod>+1 Exceptional Attribute>+1 Genetic Optimization>16Bod x1.5 = 24Bod upper limit
>>20110936You are officially TOO HUGE to turn into any creature with Shapechange.
>>20110907I thought it might count towards the actual stat rather than the augmented stat since it says "attribute bonus" and nothing else uses that wording.
>>20110839What >>20110907 said, basically. The body thing, and it stacks with EVERYTHING.>>20110891This is true. You also cannot get full auto assault cannons.
>>20110027Actually the rules explicitly state that "No other armor can be worn with military-grade armor."So Milspec armor + PPP is strictly off-limits.
>>20111130And I suppose FFBA is off-limits too.
>>20111147You might be able to argue that FFBA is a *part* of the Military Body Armour - a bit like the soft suit for a Knight Saber or the padding underneath plate. No extra armour though.
>>20111251I imagine Milspec armor has both PPP and FFBA integrated into it already.
I really feel bad for taking full body FFBA on most of my characters now.But to be fair, for a lot of them, that's their ONLY armor.
Anyone willing to take a look at Othello Mendoza my dwarf chaos mage? This is the first character I've ever made. He's either a taxi driver or food truck owner in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I had an idea to start him with no gear and in-debt (with the cash from in-debt invested in items that he'd recover during the story; they'd all have been stolen by his ex.)Character sheet: https://sites.google.com/site/cslewin/home/shadowrunPic related; it's a local dude who matched what I had in my head perfectly. This also heavily influenced the character: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7DqR1J3tFw
>>20111456Weird, the end of my post got cut off. The youtube link also heavily influenced the character.
>>20111504>>20111456He reminds me a lot of "Ace," a dwarf Chaos Magician gambler from Vegas.Honestly, I think this is a cooler character. Have you considered taking a mentor spirit? Your character sounds like he'd be great for Dog or one of the other chill, laid-back mentors.
>>20111364Unless you are trying to combine it with Full Body Armour, it's not TOO bad.I think that combining it with any form of 'Coat' is perfectly fine for a runner. It's when you put it AND proper body armour and PCP Protection stuff on all at once that it gets a bit cheesy.
>>20111590If it wasn't implicit, I should have specified that Ace was one of my characters.
>>20111605I mean, probably my worst offender is my combat hacker, who combines it with a riot control suit with helmet, but as both a combat character who can't dodge worth shit (due to troll) and a hacker (and therefore in desperate need of protection), I figure a totaled up damage resistance of 22 for both ballistic and impact isn't TOO overkill or cheese, you know?
We're playing a high power game. Mine is a sword-wielding mystic adept who is absolutely OBSESSED with the idea that the Horrors are back. If it's not hunting spirits, fighting Aztlan or looking for horror lore, he isn't interested.Makes the rest of the team a bit antsy, since they basically have to bribe him or lie to him to get him to come on runs.
>>20111456>>20111590Yeah, or Dragon... Those are Chill right? Also, I have one lingering question... If Gepetto isn't a shadowrunner any more, are the rules placed on Adversary that keep him from fucking the group over lifted?
>>20111642Sounds like Dragonslayer Mentor Spirit.
>>20111590A mentor spirit would be awesome, but I'm pretty hard-up for BP.Things I'm looking forward to include having a spirit take over during a car chase but only informing my fellow runners by bellowing "JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL" and turning around entirely to shoot out the window, as well as being REALLY cagey about ever actually using Control Thoughts.Honestly? The total lack of gear idea came from looking at the tremendous list of crap available to me and thinking that I'd rather have nothing than slog through page after page of stuff.
TWODEE WHAT HAPPENED TO GEPPETTO?!DID HIS PLAYER QUIT/HAVE TO LEAVE THE GAME?DID HE DECIDE IT WAS TIME TO MAKE A NEW CHARACTER?TELL US YOU MUST TELL US. I AM GOING CRAZY AFTER READING THAT LAST POSTI JUST GAINED 1d10 INSANITY POINTS IRL AND AM FORCED TO TYPE IN CALL CAPS BECAUSE OF THIS HORRIFIC SCENE.
>>20111681I think this dude needs Dog as a mentor way more than I do. Damn.
BUBBLES DEMANDS ANSWERS AS PER>>20111681
>>20111681From what I can gather, he continues playing as an Aztec possibly-possibly-not bloodmage.
>>20111673Nah. When I say obsessed, I mean it. No mentor spirit, he's just a fucking fruitcake for the horrors. Last run's bribe (he is the only magical support) was "Hey, we'll help you raid that Egyptian dig under the Atlantean Foundation's auspices if you come along with us.". They get his cut though, usually, since he doesn't really need any gear and his lifestyle is as close to hobo as you can get without being Street.
So, how much strength do you think a human nosferatu should have to duel-wield assualt cannons? I was thinking Ogre Hammers.
>>20112070RAW...there is no STR limit. However, it's a -2 penality for doing so.
>>20112135The off-hand penalty? I plan to have Ambidextrous.
>>20112200No, the 'Using a two handed weapon one handed' penalty. If you are going adept though, 2 initiations and Adept Centering will let you ignore it.
>>20112206Short of a gyro mount, though, he's going to need a body above 10. And he'll take S equal to the base DV of the weapon when fired.
>>201124198 STR and BOD actually. And it will be 1/2 stun. That's if firing from the hip.Still, 2 Gyromounts might be a good plan.
>>20112206Was going to go adept, yeah.>>20112419I don't think that's really fair, all things consider. I mean, this character does have weaknesses. Notably, dropping 150 BP on being a nosferatu. Also, lack of subtlety. Also being an anime.
>>20112465He's duel wielding anti vehicle rifles... it's fair.
>>20112465You are making Seras Victoria, aren't you?I'm pretty sure she's looking at 8 STR and BOD by the time she starts using flack cannons as her weapon of choice.
>>20112488yes, I am making Seras Victoria. I needed to make something Pink Mohawk after my last stint into making an anime character in Shadowrun (notably, Rock from Black Lagoon. He fit well.)
Can you make a Mono-filament Whip into a weapon Foci? I've got a STR 1 Mystic Adept looking for a good weapon to use for all those fun Blood Powers and a Mono-filament Whip would avoid me having to have a heap of STR.
>>20112505Or you could stop making anime characters and trying thinking for yourself for a change
>>20112666I'm in a game with them currently. They have a rather cool non-anime idea. I think this is supposed to mostly be thought experiment to see how well it COULD be done.
>>20109344I got some actual sleep last night, and so would be better prepared to have a coherent/interesting retell of our first session now.As for the campaign, I'm rather worried about who exactly is supporting the J and why our first ever run is hitting up EVO.If you read this, I'd like to know how much (if any) of Trollman's tweaks will be used.Kalfu: I can hit hard, I'm just too squishy to tank and need to get lucky with attribute boost to dodge well.
>>20112790Maybe type it up and drop it in the channel? That way we can add some more showmanship to it? It wont' likely be as awesome as 2D's tales...but hey, someone might enjoy it.
>>20112813I am in favour of this idea. But yes, please continue your story, it's pretty neat to see what other people's experiences are with the game.
>>20112681Yeah, we've just been shooting the breeze to see what the system can model.
>>20112653Yeah, it would be harder to make...but it's fully possible. For anyone who's not STR 1 though...Mono-filament isn't too great. Can hurt yourself and it can't be boosted by martial arts.
>>20112874yep, tho harder b/c of the high tech nature of the item.>>20112653forgetting that mono whips aren't affected by str? It don't matter what the stat is, the weapon is doing a flat 8p/-4ap plus any net hits in damage. factor in the skill bonus of a weapon foci and yeah... If you're not rolling 15+ dice to hit you're doing it wrong.
>>20112955That was why I went for it. It didn't matter that I had to spend points on EVERY other stat to make this work, I can still cut someone in half with a mono-filament whip and THEN use that damage to fuel my next spell.Yeah...they are a blood mage. NOT a Blood Spirit Summoner (Can't summon for crap) but they do turn pain into extra power for their black magic spells. Mainly Petrify and a Custom AOE version (Because casting that one WITHOUT sacrifice will make my head asplode)
Hey, has anyone played with FrankTrollman's houserules for stuff?I'm mainly looking at the Ally Spirit rules (Which look a darn sight less broken and more useful than the current ones) but I'm not sure about their actual power without some testing. Does anyone have any experience with them?
>>20106776>neurostun and DMSOYa goof'd. DMSO makes any toxin work via contact. Neurostun already has contact as a vector.
>>20110936Make it a Fomórian for another +1 to Body. Well, for the cost of no natural armour.
>>20113961By this point, as was said, there is not a single creature you can be turned into by magic as nothing is as tough as you. You are so huge that magic gave up. A Warform Elephant is only 18....that's awesome in a retarded sort of way.
>>20114312Would body 24 just be the incredible hulk?
>>20114390An Ares CityMaster has 16 BODOn the plus side, you're still not the toughest thing ever.Military grade boats worth 2,200,000 nuyen (Celebrian Striker from Arsenal) has 30 BODSo, you know, weapons used to sink ships should affect you too!
>>20114390Honestly, by this point, the mage should be working on 'Turn into a tank' spells for you, not 'Turn into an animal'
>>20114312>>20114390>>20114558The semi truck from arsenal has 18 BOD. Pic very related.
>>20114584Add a trailer and you have 24. JUST enough for you to turn into it (Assuming a hypothetical 'Turn into vehicle' spell)
What 'Ware increases BOD? I'm not familiar with augmentations, and my Sasquatch is currently stuck at his natural maximum of 17.
>>20114648Almost no chance bro besides Suprythyroid Gland. All the others add only dice to the damage resistance pool. If that's ok for you, look into bone lacing and bone density augmentation.
Yes! Finally, I can post in a Shadowrun Storytime thread and tell TwoDee: your tales have brought me much joy and delight. If you're ever in the Chi-town/Millwaukee area, I totally have to buy you a beer.
>>20112666What >>20112681 said. These are backup/extra characters, mostly just made to see how well they'd fit/if it's possible at all. My actual character is a non-anime based elf razorgirl, and my first... five? backups are also non-anime based (and are a troll combat hacker, a human aztec combat mage, an elf christian theurge mystic adept face, a human spider-SURGE based infil expert, and a vehicle/drone rigger who's a bike gang.)
So, social adepts with empathy software: Bannable offense, or only if they get an emotitoy too?
>>20117498Pornomancers shouldn't be allowed in the first place.I want to make a Pixie who's a Nac Mac Feegle. Would it be better as a hacker, TM, mage or mysad?
>>20118239Pixies can't become technomancers, nor can they take cyberware. If you wanted to be a hacker, I suppose an adept hacker who works entirely in AR wouldn't be bad, but you'd still need some way to hack wired systems.I'd go with MystAd, personally.
>>20118989Thanks.On a completely unrelated note, here's music from the SNES shadowrun game mixed with the Space Jam theme.>>>http://www.mediafire.com/?1l11h75hfvi23r5
Do drones gain anything from a Smartlink in a weapon?Or is it Pilot + Targeting and that's that?
What's everyone's favourite gun TYPE?
>>20120269Assualt RiflesIf only because there's one in the core book, I forget the name off hand, that can turn into an SMG, a battle rifle, or a sniper rifle, and has a shotgun or grenade launcher underslung weapon. And even in sniper mode it uses the Automatics skill.Fuck yeah.
>>20120487That's in Arsenal, not core. AUG- [Something]For me it's SMGs.
>>20120487The Steyr Aug, an australian weapon. Makes sense they'd make a weapon like that; considering all the deadly shit they already had are all probably deadlier paracritter versions now.
>>20120487Actually, no. It says specifically that the different configurations use the different skill
>>20120555Fucking Dropbears and Bunyips.Well, them and...boguns, the deadliest creatures of all.
>>20120555u wot m8Steyr is an Austrian company, the IRL version of the AUG was exported for the australian army.
>>20120689Sorry, I meant it was the gun of the Australian army, It's pretty much their symbol weapon. Combine that with the fact our groups currently playing a game in 6th world australia has made the weapon feel a bit close to home.
>>20120487>>20120535>>20120555I think he was talking about:HK XM30: This award-winning modular “weapons platform” can turn a single soldier into a one-man army. The baseline assault rifle features lightweight composite construction, a smartgun system, rigid stock with shock pad, and an underbarrel grenade launcher with grenade link. The weapon may be reassembled with optional modules— taking an Automatics + Agility (5, 1 minute) Extended Test to swap them in—into either an underbarrel shotgun, compact carbine, sniper rifle (with an imaging scope), or LMG (with bipod) configurationThough it is similar to the Steyr
>>20118239>Nac Mac Feegle>Using TechPick one son.If you don't play a kilt wearing, woad tattoed, drunken, brawling, loud mouthed little violent bastard with a big ass sword, you're doing it wrong.
TwoDee, any of the players in this campaign ever play a rigger?Or engaged in general drone shenanigans?
>>20122786Get Adept, get 'Mind Over Matter', use Cha for STR. Your Fairy has a Mono-filament Claymore built for an ork...and looks fine with it.
>>20124357Doesn't work, the damage from Str on melee weapons is not a test, which is when MoM happens.
>>20125282Ah, nuts. Then get it for willpower/body then. Sure, you will have limited armour...but you can be tough.Out of interest, are there any non-monofilimant whip or taser weapons that just use a set damage, not STR?
