Pizza's here!Uh, I mean, TG QUEST!!!Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19641125/When last we left our band of world-hopping warriors, they had successfully talking Tassadar into joining the fleet on a trial basis with his own fleet, looted some diamonds from DeBeers, and finally managed to get Grimm's secrets from Cheryl. Now they speak of picking up plans from Holtz to deliver to the TSAB as a gesture of goodwill.
Out of curiosity, do we have any Australium on us?
>>19678625Meta Quest Fuck Yeah!Yes, the plan is to go home, pick up the plans, go to the TSAB, swing by Dark Matter to rez Gaunt and build up the Branch Office. While we're at Sector HQ, we should inform Holtz of the secrets we've uncovered. The Distortion is coming, he needs to know.
>>19678782Your ships align and execute the transpace jump back to HQ, Colonel Eva greeting you once again as you return."Welcome back, Task Force 38," she says. "Sector Manager Holtz said to expect you. He's waiting with some sort of schematic."
This is our current research allocation:25% Foreign Reality Emitter25% Dimensional Stabilizer30% Psi Shield20% WilyCorp DataCoreAlso, I've got TGS Nocturne down for the Nyx Supercarrier; any ideas for the Hiigaran Shipyard? Our next few steps seem to be generally agreed upon. The Engineering queue is currently:1. Install S2 Organ into Mecha-Godzilla2. Equip Mad Cats with Lesser S2 Organs3. Install Teleporters on the All Under Heaven (possibly include the Relentless and the two dropships)MetaOP, you said the LS2E's take 2 days per vehicle. Is that with all of our engineers working on it, or just a group of engineers, so that we can have the two Mad Cats worked on in parallel? Also, can you provide approximate completion times for each project?
>>19678787When we got all the TF2 weapons, did a Golden Wrench or a Saxxy come with those?
Day: 5Current Objectives: Carry Dimensional Stabilizer plans to TSAB.Fleet Location: HQInventory: http://pastebin.com/HGsJUZZbDescriptions: http://pastebin.com/UpKiRZnh
>>19678811"Thanks, Colonel Eva. We'll be right over. While we wait, we plan on swinging by the Branch Office in the Dark Matter Canon; is there anything we can take with us for them?"Go talk to Holtz, face-to-face. Full security protocols when we enter his office. Tell him the secrets of the TG that Cheryl told us."You're going to want to open another bottle of Jack Daniels, Holtz."
>>19678818That's with all of them working on it. The S-2 Organ should be installed into Mecha-Godzilla in two days. Teleporter installation, what sort of teleporter are you installing?
>>19678625Rough Cheryl Info Summary from last thread:Cheryl basically revealed that the Transspace Guard knows actually very little about the meta. Reality Emitter, rewriter bomb, reality distortion detectors, and other similar technologies were stolen from a damaged ship from an unknown faction long ago; the emblem on the damaged ship matched the logo of the Advanced Reality Emitter we appropriated from Guy. The only thing that the TG does know is that SUEs cause reality distortions and that SUEs must be neutralized. Other than that, canon is vague and nebulous, and there are many many incidences of corrupt TG officials using the concept of "canon" to manipulate TG forces for their own selfish ends. Also, we're planning to trap the Orz within the Quarantine Frame in the vacant Fallout canon, and let Tassadar's forces utilize the remains of the C&C canon for colonization properties.
>>19678844Star Trek style teleporters from my understanding. With the Industrial replicators, we should be able to replicate the parts required to set it up.Also, is there anyway we can find out if Tiberium is as hazardous to protoss as it is to humans?
>>19678842I'm not sure if Holtz should know what we know at the moment. There's very little we can do with this information at first, and he's under enough stress as it is. With the reality distortion approaching HQ, the Black Ops forces may intend to maintain a presence here until the distortion is dealt with. For his own safety, we might want to hold off on the exposition.
>>19678878However, the distortion IS coming. Since it's moving at the speed of plot, there is a good chance for it to arrive while we're not here.I think that Holtz should be informed so that he might have some idea of the stakes and the motivations behind the Distortion.
Is now a good time to ask Holtz about the mysteriously growing Quarentine Zone as well?
>>19678842"A new communication relay. They must be having trouble with theirs, we haven't heard from them in a day or two."When you enter Holtz's office, he immediately thrusts a datapad into your hands."We're not supposed to go around handing these plans out like candy, so if anyone asks, you better be damn convincing or have an excuse the likes of which would make Hera let Zeus off the hook for turning into a cow and picking up chicks. Jack Daniels? Another one? Oh, goodie. I can just TELL this is going to be fun times."You relay the information as succinctly as possible. Holtz's face is impassive as stone until you finish."Yes..." he says, staring blankly ahead. "That's quite a pickle. Will you excuse me for a moment?"Captcha: debauchery inpro...Captcha, I don't know what you're planning, but leave me out of it.
>>19678826OP, not to be spergy or anything... but how would LSEs behave for the Mad Cats and other Clan-tech vehicles/mechs? Do they provide lighter engines and/or more speed and/or more power for weaponry? I'm trying to make some variants for the blueprints we acquired.
>>19678826>>19678844Here's a TO-DO list and a listing of all of our engineering and research projects, both what's available and what's being worked on:http://pastebin.com/7hTAHGyg
>>19678910Yes, now is probably a good time to bring it up. Not because it's good for his health, but it's a necessity.>>19678914>They must be having trouble with theirs, we haven't heard from them in a day or twoOh fuck, did we lose ANOTHER base?!FUCKING ORZ!
>>19678961>>19678914TG Quest: Yes, those things you did back then when you didn't have a firm grasp on the consequences of leading extradimensional entities for a tour around the metaverse WILL come back to haunt you. And you will be wise enough to appreciate what your careless hands have wrought.Hmm... maybe we can pass some information over to the IDPKB. For their own safety, of course.
>>19678920A bit more power and the mech no longer requires fuel or engine/reactor maintenance.
>>19679016The extra power should help in allowing us to add external system packs to the Mad Cats, such as deflector shields and holographic cloaking systems.
>>19678914When Holtz is back, bring up the fact that the red splotch of the Quarantine Zone has been increasing in size. Also, tell him that we're afraid that we might have lost the Dark Matter office to the Orz, if they're not talking."Holtz, it could just be that their communicator array is off-line. It's happened before."Do you want us to go to the UCAS base first, to get their dimensional stabilizer up and running, or do you want us to prioritize the Dark Matter base?"
>>19678873Lab tests and so forth. It's probably about the same, but the protoss have the technology to safely contain it, unlike the hapless terrans.Production/installation of transporter systems to your fleet varies from ship to ship. The massive AUH will take a full week to complete installation.
>>19679122Can you give time estimates for:TGS RelentlessTGS GuardianTGS ValiantTGS HerculesOverlord DropshipLeopard Dropship
>>19679140Just a day per dropship/Antaneus, and three days per Star Destroyers.>>19679093Assuming you leave Holtz' office for the moment he requested, a violent sound of crashing and swearing is heard the moment you leave. When you return, half his office looks trashed, with Holtz breathing heavily. Perhaps not the best time to talk further, but there you go."All right," he says, after you say your peace. "I have thought this through. Go to the UCAS base first, THEN go to the DM base. But of course the damn DSes have to GET here first."
>>19679263>But of course the damn DSes have to GET here firstUh, what? The plans for the Dimensional Stabilizers haven't arrived yet?
>>19679303We were given some plans. he's waiting for actual DSes so they don't have to build them.
>>19679263>>19679322Ah.MetaOP, after transmitting the Dimensional Stabilizer plans over to the Oncoming Storm, how long does Egon think it would take to build one to defend a base?I'm trying to estimate how long we would have to be at each office before it can be secure.
>>19679263Sounds good to us.But while we're here? You know that Quarantine Zone we have in our sector? It has come to our attention that it's been getting a bit... bigger as time goes on.Is there any way that's a good thing? Like all the recent turmoil actually made it shrink and let loose canons that should have been contained, but are now being re-contained due to us fixing those keystones?...There isn't, is there?
>>19679369"After looking over the plans, estimating labor and materials, and going over our production capacity, I'd estimate it would take a week for our engineering staff to get enough online to cover a world," Egon reports.>>19679411"Kid, what do YOU think?"
>>19679322So are we waiting here for the DSes to arrive, or should we go to the TSAB outpost now?We can probably make do with just the Storm and Relentless, since this is a neighborly visit. The rest of the Task Force can stay at Sector HQ getting engineering done.
>>19679478That's a week at the UCAS, then a week over the C&C world while the Protoss colonize it, then another week over the Dark Matter world. That about right? And are we waiting for the Dimensional Stabilizers to arrive, or can we leave for the TSAB now, drop off the plans, then come back in about an hour or so?
>>19679479I was under the impression that the in-transit Dimensional Stabilizers are probably for the base that Holtz is at, and probably the UACS base. We're going to deliver the plans to the TSAB outpost if it's still intact. Delivering a fully built dimensional stabilizer might be pushing it as far as tech secrets go; these blueprints we have were probably modified as to not give the TSAB a technological edge over the TG, but still be effective in preventing Orz pulling.
>>19679478Holtz, about the Quarantine Frame. Are there any files on it or field recordings that could tell us exactly how to position the Frame to maximize the containment effect? Do we need to lead the targets to a localized area, or set it up around a focal point? How do we set it up without trapping ourselves in the containment field?
>>19679478Also, Holtz.Next time we go out on a mission, we're likely to do some "shopping" afterwards. Is there anything specific you want us to look for?
>>19679561"I have no idea, I'm not a scientist. I'll have my research head forward the files to your staff, they should be able to figure it out."
>>19679602Thanks Holtz.Besides more booze of varying types, anything else you need us to pick up while we're out?Milk, eggs, a couple metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium?
>>19679479If our Science/Engineering team get bonuses while at base, then seconding this. If they can travel with us while working at the same speed, though, we might want to travel as one fleet. We don't know what's going on in TSAB space right now, and we don't want to separate ourselves in case we find trouble there.
>>19679612"We should be stocked up at HQ for a while. Thanks for the thought, though."
>>19679624MetaOP, if we leave the majority of the task force here at base, do they get a bonus to their research and engineering?
>>19679634You mean do your guys get a bonus from using the base's facilities? No, because the base staff will be using their facilities to near capacity. The bonus you might get from using their better facilities is offset by the fact you can't use them 24/7.
>>19679889Okay, then. Thanks for the clarification. Then we should have the entire task force make the transit. We don't know if we're going to be emerging into a fight or not.MetaOP, do we have the communication frequencies for the TSAB Outpost? I'd like to warn them that we're coming, so that they don't get twitchy trigger fingers when an entire battle fleet appears in their dimensional pocket.Once the warning is away, and everything is prepared, let's make the transit.
>>19679918>>19679889Right.From here on out, just in case we haven't been doing it before, when we make a Meta-transit Jump, have all ships be at battlestations and at full combat readiness.Have the Oncoming Storm's Meta-Transit Drive also immediately begin preparations for an emergency Transit Jump as soon as we come out of the previous Jump. We don't know what we could be jumping into now.The Orz are on the loose, the Quarantine is failing, and we still have no idea how far-ranging the Void Engineers and Chaos battlefleets are.Remember that the TSAB Dimensional Navy is not maintaining a complete containment of those two factions; they're only keeping them from entering TSAB territory. They're not defending our side of the Void Engineer/NuChaos zones of control. On top of that, we have this unknown Meta Faction making inroads into our sector. We don't know where they'll pop up next.
I haven't read this quest since 70 or so due to lack of time but>Hiigaran Shipyard>MFW
>>19680027Do you want to name it?We're still trying to come up with a name.
>>19679918>>19680026Let's just hope that the Orz haven't pulled everyone on that outpost. Or if they were unsuccessful, that the TSAB won't be in a shooty mood when we get there.>>19680027We could name it the Occam's Razor. It's kinda shaped like a razor, and it provides a very simple solution to most problems: build lots of ships, and throw them at the problem.

The ships start the transpace jump sequence and the same gut-wrenching irritation you experience every time you jump hits you. When it ends, you find yourself in a shimmering expanse of light and color. In the distance is a large space station, that from your last visit you recognize as the regional headquarters for the TSAB.Shortly after you arrive, you are hailed by the base, a young woman with green hair in the standard TSAB uniform coming onscreen."Greetings, unidentified dimensional ship. This is Border Outpost number two seven seven five nine, of the Time Space Administration Bureau. Please state your identity and intent. As the TSAB is currently until military threat, please do not advance any further. Thank you in advance for your cooperation."
>>19680240Greetings Border Outpost #27759. We are Task Force 38 of the Transpace Guard. We bring information on the status of the sector and we wish to provide assistance on one of the more "annoying" creatures that was released.
>>19680240This is Task Force 38 of the Transspace Guard, headed by the cruiser "Oncoming Storm"; we've been here on an earlier visit. We are here to inquire about the status of this TSAB outpost and possibly exchange information that may be useful for combating some of the meta-capable threats that have been appearing lately. May we speak to this outpost's commander?
>>19680240"Hello TSAB Border Outpost #27759, this is the Transpace Guard Task Force 38."We're here on an urgent mission to provide you with technology that we believe essential to your defense. May we speak with your base commander over a secure channel?"
>>19680272>>19680315>>19680318We've spoken with the base commander before.Let's ask for her by name."We request to speak with Base Commander Leadra Celeste as quickly as possible, over a secure channel."
>>19680190>You Must Construct Additional Pylonsthere is no other option. I have to say we need to call the shipyard this.
>>19678818No 10% on the Brasta's engine?
>>19680417No. We need the defensive technology of the Psi Shield (since our entire task force is completely open to psionic attack), the Foreign Reality Emitter which is so much more advanced than us, and a portable version of the Dimensional Stabilizer so that we don't get *pulled* by the Orz when we're setting up the Quarantine Frame.
>>19680315>>19680318>>19680344>>19680272"Of course!" the comm officer responds, nodding. "I'll connect you right away! One moment please!"The impassive face of Base Commander Leadra Celeste appears, her long black hair currently tied back in a long ponytail."Ah, the Oncoming Storm. I trust you have good reason to return here. Let's hear it."
>>19680469"Bad news, Commander Celeste. Very bad news."A multi-dimensional eldritch being of incredible power has decided that it wants to stretch its reach, and has been invading Canons of late."You remember them, the odd ships we pointed out to you before. No, please, don't say their name. It attracts their attention. "They've already destroyed two of our Branch Offices, and possibly a third. We don't know when they'll move on to our Sector HQ, but it's only a matter of time. We're going to attempt to trap them in a Quarantine Frame, but it won't be ready for a few days. In the meantime, we've been authorized to provide you with Dimensional Stabilization technology, which we believe, we hope, will be able to prevent their means of interdimensional attack."
>>19680469>>19680505>pic very related
>>19680469So how exactly do we put this?Something like "Remember the last time we visited and we had those weird aliens with us that we said were legit? Turns out that was an egregious error in judgment on our part."
>>19680527We were young and foolish.
If we recruited Setsuko and Rand (to work with Crowe), then we had the possibility to quarantine the Orz without needing the gear from central HQ.
>>19680527It was in this quest's infancy, where nobody really knew what the Orz truly were. Or really knew what they were capable of. And it's kind of odd that the Orz are pulling people left and right here, whereas in Star Control 2 they don't seem to be capable of pulling other races except for the Vux and the Androsynth. Unless that was due to the Arilou's intervention.
>>19680600Well we technically knew when we checked the wiki.We just... didn't really understand?I'm not really sure what we could have done, seeing as they could probably have slaughtered us when we first encountered them.I guess we just thought we could handle them?
>>19680469Don't show them the reality emitter or anything, but ask them if they recognize the symbol of the faction that Guy is working for. Also, we should see if we can wrangle some information and/or Ninjas out of them.
>>19680600>where nobody really knew what the Orz truly were. Or really knew what they were capable of. But the thing is we had all of the information available to us. We knew what they were. We knew that they were capable of Meta-Transit, they told us themselves. And instead of taking the threat seriously, or the consequences of showing them where we lived, we blithely thought that keeping them with us would allow us to keep watch on them, instead of showing them potential targets for *pulling*.I will salute MetaOP on a well-executed "Actions have Consequences", waiting this long to spring the Orz on us again, when we've gained enough experience to realize the full scope of our mistake, and having amassed enough resources that their loss will be a hard blow, especially as we now have fast-approaching end-game bosses.
>>19680505BC Celeste heaves a sigh. "Of course... I'd like to say I'm surprised, but you ARE part of the Transpace Guard. At least you're trying to control the damage rather than conceal your damn secrets like you usually do."She pauses for a moment, frowning. "There have been... odd disruptions in our wards lately. As if if something unseen was trying to push past them. If what you say is true..."She stops, shaking her head. "In any case, I will accept your little gift. Hopefully we will not need it, but just in case, I'll send it along to our research staff and magitechnicians. Is there anything else you require?"
>>19680661"No, I've never seen that symbol before. I'll have someone check the archives, though. Where is it from?"
>>19680675"Any information you can provide concerning the strategic and tactical dispositions of the Void Engineer and Chaos contingents that your Dimensional Navy has engaged. "We have been able to stabilize most of our sector, and plan on reinforcing our branch offices in the next few weeks. After that, we hope to bring our full attention to the warring factions and neutralize them. It would be helpful to know what the situation is like, so that we can prioritize our actions accordingly.">>19680706"We recovered it from an operative of an unidentified Meta-Faction. They popped in during one of our stabilization operations, and attacked our operatives when we asked them to identify themselves. "Yes, yes, I know. Surprising that it wasn't us that fired first."
>>19680706A new player....Or possibly an old one.You know how it is.
Should we try to ask her for details on the wards that they employ to foil extra-dimensional beings? It might be pushing our luck, but if they can give us some sort of ward the Aurors/Abjurers may be able to reproduce, it would help greatly in containing the Orz. Even a temporary ward would be great, in this case. Not to mention that if the Orz are allowed to have free reign, that's bad news for everyone. If we present this argument correctly, they might give us a way to *pull*-proof our ships/buildings until the Dimensional Stabilizers are complete. I don't think I need to elaborate on how useful such a measure would be, even if it is temporary.
>>19680821Yeah, let's ask them if they're willing to share some of those wards with us. Then after we've made sure non of them allow them to spy on us, they might be useful.
>>19680821>>19680838"We can both agree that the inter-dimensional entity is a threat to all Meta-Factions, regardless of affiliation. That's why even my superiors at TG High Command agreed to authorize this technology transfer. "May our magic-users look at some of the dimensional wards that have come under recent assault? "It pains me to admit this, but...we may find it necessary to reinforce our own technological dimensional defenses with magical ones, when we go to set up the Quarantine Frame."
>>19680734"The Void Engineer ships appear to be avoiding our vessels when they can, the few times we've engaged them, they lured us into fighting with the Chaos fleets, then withdrew shortly after launching a few salvos to cripple them," BC Celeste states. She pauses for a moment, considering something. "I think you should know that the ships they are fielding now seem to be much different than the ones they began this conflict with. Larger, with more weapons and advanced shielding. Many even seem to incorporate magitech into their design."The commander takes a breath, stopping to think for a moment."There have been a few incidents with the Chaos forces, but I am not cleared to share them. Needless to say the fighting is still fierce."
>>19680930"I understand that you have your operational security to consider. Thank you for sharing what you know."This is bad news; it means that the Void Engineers have already begun analyzing, reverse-engineering, and assimilating your magitechnology. We will attempt to step up our time-table in response.""We can both agree that the inter-dimensional entity is a threat to all Meta-Factions, regardless of affiliation.
>>19680904Base Commander Celeste looks at you evenly for what seems like a full minute after your request."...very well. After our analysts go over the schematics you provide to ensure there is no trickery, we will trade in kind. But don't expect this to be a regular arrangement, Storm. Do you have a transdimensional communicator you can be reached with?"
>>19680930...Not cleared to share them?I wonder if that would include incidents such as the abduction of the TSAB agent known as Vita.In theory shouldn't ask that.
>>19680996"Thank you, Commander. We understand that this arrangement is quite...irregular, and appreciate your willingness to work with us despite our past differences."We can be contacted at this frequency."Transmit to the base commander our Meta-Comm frequency, and a pair of encryption keys that we can use to secure our communications.
>>19680996"By trans-dimensional communicator, you mean a device that can send and receive signals across realities? If so, then yes, we have such a device. We can open up a secure channel for this if that is what you require.">speculation; do not include with transmissionIf the wards turn out to be bunk, though, we could try to see if we can combine Auror/Abjurer magic and see if we can create a ward or charm that reproduces the effect of a permanent Dimensional Anchor. Though we wouldn't be able to transport anything, it might provide some protection against getting pulled. Assuming that *pull*-ing is shifting one entity across a dimension to another.
>>19680930Talk about rubber band-difficulty! If you remember your RPG tropes, it means they would have been significantly easier to defeat back then as opposed to now or in the future
>>19681213Well, it's only reasonable. We gave them weeks in order to capture, analyze, reverse-engineer, assimilate, produce, and distribute all kinds of technology and magic from highly advanced Canons. We have no one to blame but ourselves.
>>19681213I can't shake the feeling that a certain someone is mixed up with this Orz business. Or a number of any other problems that we're facing right now.
Do we know if the Void Engineers are hostile?Like maybe they can be reasoned with?
>>19681286Reading up on them, the Void Engineers are perhaps the least oppressive of the World of Darkness Technocracy factions. They care about discovery, science, and exploration, pushing the boundaries of what is known. In essence, they're sort of like the University of Planet from Alpha Centauri. But, that doesn't mean we should treat them as anything other than a hostile threat. They will look to manipulate us, use us, take our technology and use it for their own. Dealing with them would be the equivalent of dealing with the Orz, and look at the situation that got us into.
Oh shit.http://manhattan_by_night.tripod.com/manhattan_wod/id62.htmlLook at the section regarding Metareality. The Void Engineers are a full-blown Meta-Faction.They must be treated as a hostile Meta-Faction. They will USE us, just like they used the TSAB.
>>19681383It's both better and worse. It's better because in theory we and the Void Engineers should be on the same psychological wavelength and be able to understand each other. Its worse that that means the Void Engineers know how to be sneaky.Like Ahriman.Entire faction is Ahriman.
Hey errbody wuts up
MetaOP, are you waiting on something?
>>19678935What type of weapons and armor are our dudes using?
>>19681658Yes, what are you guys doing? Do you have anything else to do here or are you heading off to somewhere else? I'm going to feel pretty silly if I missed an action, but I checked twice.
>>19681695Right here:>>19681063>>19681118We were waiting for you to give the base commander our Meta-Comm Frequency, and tell us what our magic-users thought of the TSAB dimensional wards.
>>19681733Oh, I didn't think a response was warranted there. My bad."Thank you."Your aurors and abjurers will need time to go over the ward-information once you receive it. Remember you don't get it until they're through examining your schematics.
>>19681756Alright, fine then. They'll transmit the magical formulae to us via Meta-Comm, right? So our next stop is the Shadowrun Canon to help the UCAS base build its Dimensional Stabilizers.Have the task force get into transit formation, and thank Commander Celeste again, and to stay in touch. Then make the Meta-Transit Jump.Come out of transit in the Oort Belt, where we'll be safe from prying eyes. Then open a comm channel to our base.
>>19681795In addition, have those Terrans decided on what they want to do?Tell Tosh sorry, but the Dimensional Stabilizers have to take priority over getting his Jorium and Terrazine.Tell Tassadar that we'll get him to his new world as soon as we finish bolstering the defenses of our two bases.
>>19681795You make the transpace jump successfully, your ships appearing one by one in the Oort cloud while your communications array attempts to raise the base. After a long while, a harried looking communications officer answers."Transpace Guard base 'Vault' here," he states. "Request iden... Nevermind, our IFF has you pegged as the Oncoming Storm. Welcome back, and thanks again for saving our hides! Do you need me to get Base Commander Ferricelli?"
>>19681885"Sure, but before you go, you look frazzled. Is there a problem?"
If Orz was a blow, what do you think Ahriman, Azalin, Kane, and Starscream are up to?I could see Azalin hauling ass over to the world of darkness and setting up camp there.Dunno about the others.
>>19681931>>19681885In addition to saying this, begin construction of the Dimensional Stabilizers. Have the Hiigaran Shipyard make some Salvage Corvettes so that they can help in gathering minerals to feed the All Under Heaven's replicators and the Advanced Engineering Bay.
>>19681931"We've been having some weird troubles lately. A lot of shamans and mages are going missing without any information beyond some foreboding portents and omens. The Shadowlands are abuzz with rumors, and with people still cleaning up after that drow debacle, it's all we can do to keep an eye on the situation."
>>19681987"Okay. Can you send us the data you have? Maybe some of our specialists can help."Once we get the data, have Egon, the Aurors, the Farseers, the Avatar, the Gurus, and the magic users of the Shadowrunner teams look over the information.Mustadio should help with the Dimensional Stabilizer work. And we need to tell Ferricelli that we're here to help get the Dimensional Stabilizers built and set up. Coordinate engineering efforts to avoid inefficiency.
>>19682031"Sure, sure," the comm officer says, transmitting the data. "Anything else? Oh right. Hang on..."A few moment later, the comm officer's face disappears to be replaced by the visage of the base commander."Ferricelli here. What's up?"
>>19682088"Commander, we have a situation."Inter-dimensional entity, the Oscar Romeo Zulu. They took out our Fallout base, and we lost communication with the Dark Matter base."We're here to help you get Dimensional Stabilizers up and running in case they decide to come around here."Our industrial replicators and engineering bay are at your disposal until we have the stabilizers online."
>>19681383Situations like this are always tricky.Going in at MAX BLASTER is always a potential solution, but usually not the best one. However, in this case, finding the best solution isn't easy and might not be possible. These guys are sneaky and any information we tell them, they will use. Moreover, they're peaceful enough to work with, but ALWAYS have an agenda. Thus meaning that working with them, while possible, will always be a double-edged sword.Even if we open up communications with them and say "Hi", they'll rip the headers from our messages and find out how to pick up Transpace comms from the background noise. Once they can do that, they'll spy on us and gain craptons of information about the Guard, the Meta, and about potential situations they can learn about and exploit. That's just from saying "Hi".Of course, diplomacy or bullshitting them might have merit in the short-term, but in the long term we'll be creating a problem [and probably a HUGE problem].Even if we diplomacise them only to stab them in the ass later, all that needs to happen is for them to pick up a Meta Snooper (comms interceptor) and set it up in a place where we can't blast them. Either by them hiding, being protected by someone, or being part of the Canon.Once that's done? They've got information. They can use information, and they can probably sell information. Be it to rival factions of the Transpace Guard, to the various scum of the Hub worlds, or to Canon natives who could benefit from meta knowledge.I know "Go in guns blasting hurr hurr" is usually a stupid option but I can't think of a better one at this time.
>>19682137To be honest, I don't think we have nearly enough gun.
>>19681706>http://pastebin.com/HGsJUZZbNeat. What types of armor and weapons can we replicate or massproduce with the replicators? If it's possible to replicate personal shields, personal armor, or phasers/blasters, then it might be worth doing that.
>>19682157Then we need to get the wreckages from Black Ops' remains and use it for our own.
>>19682168We haven't gone to the Star Trek Online Canon yet, so we don't have the 2409 Starfleet Personal Shield replicator designs. We're already making personal armor, and everyone is already equipped with decent armor. As for phasers, we already have everyone either equipped with phasers or better (for their specific role).
>>19682124Ferricelli's face immediate becomes grim."Understood. We're shorthanded here, but with your help, maybe we can get things up and ready in time. Give me the plans and I'll have my head engineer contact your staff to start coordinating right away."It will take about four days for the stabilizers to be set up with the resources already ready at the Vault working in tandem with your fleet. During this time, the Storm must remain here as its Engineering bay will be needed, the same with the All Under Heaven and its replicators. Is there anything else you wish to do during this time?At the end of this period the Indefatigable will be ready to return to service, being recrewed and repaired.
>>19682230I guess we could investigate what the deal with those shamans disappearing is.You know, while we're here and all.Hopefully we can nip a potential cataclysm in the bud.
>>19682230>During this time, the Storm must remain here as its Engineering bay will be needed, the same with the All Under Heaven and its replicators. Is there anything else you wish to do during this time?Looter team back yet from their mission? How much stuff can their transit drives pull?Someone was talking about a STO mission. Was also talk of a C&C mission. As usual, have our stuff pick up replicative matter, keep our shipyard and our carriers and whatnot manufacturing. That leaves our Mechs, Space Vehicles and Ground troops mostly unoccupied. Is there anything in the Shadowrun canon that we might want to buy?We could hire out some of our stuff as a PMC or Mercenary force, earn money and buy useful stuff.I'd advise against attempting runs on anything without an employer, as that will bring the wrath of the corps down on our sector base.Also.If bad shit's going down in the shadowlandsCan we investigate the shadowlands? Also. If bad shit's happening with mages and shamansCan we have people groundside to talk to the natives, especially native mages and shamans? At the very least, we could probably set up a Douglas and Spike employment agency.
>>19682230For the first day have our analysts and some of our Heroes good at analyzing intelligence reports go over the information that the Vault sent us. Once they have a report, we can decide if we need to intervene. When is the Looter team expected back? Can we raise them on Meta-Comms?
>>19682333Yes you can, but unfortunately I have to be off for tonight. I'll pick this up tomorrow. Seeya then.
>>19682230Continue with our various projects as able, taking into account who may be needed where.>>19682312I like this stuff. Have our Shadowrunners in the lead along with Spike and Douglas for extra INVESTIGATION! bonuses for the missing shamans/mages bit.I'd also like to suggest we have Admiral Paelleon go over the resources we have available and start devising plans and strategies and ship production orders for our shipyard to gear up for the coming NuChaos/Void Engineer(?) fights. Give him as much info as we have to give on Chaos fighting tactics and 40K ships and the like so he has as much to work with as we can give him to help prepare. I want to be as ready as possible when we come up against them.Night, OP.
>>19682312Adding:Bad shit happens in this canon all the time.It could be that Aztechnology is kidnapping all the magic users for its own ends.If that's the case, then the correct response is "do nothing". Our intervention is only if there's Orz or Void Engineers or other non-natives.Furthermore, investigating the corps ourselves is not going to help anyone. They're canon-native and whatever they do is kosher. If we try to robust our way into their systems to try to steal information, we'll likely fail, and piss them off. People robusting into corps to steal info isn't just "day to day business" here, it's a trillion dollar industry's worth of day to day business. If you want info from corps? Best way is to get whatever's publicly available to everyone. Shadowrun has a very large amount of curious, bored canon natives who'll get information then make it public knowledge without us needing to do anything.Without a doubt, there's public communications on what the fuck is going on here. We could probably get rumors easily.
>>19682497All of the publicly available information taken from Shadowlands should be in the data that the Vault sent us.It takes time to analyze data, so before we go and retread over areas already gone over by the Vault's analysts, we should actually read their reports.
>>19682569Good plan. It'll give anyone unoccupied in our staff something to do."Here's 10 Megabytes of report, read it and tell us the useful parts".Office work for everyone otherwise not gainfully employed.
>>19682351Get a status report from the Looter Team. We can't send anything to them, but if they need something, then they can Meta-Transit to us to pick up equipment. We should also contact Holtz via Meta-Comms to inform him that the Vault is currently safe, and that we'll have the Stabilizers up in four days. Also tell him that we got some information exchange done with the TSAB, and as long as High Command didn't screw us with the schematics they sent, the TSAB will be giving us dimensional protection ward formulae. Also that they've been getting pinged by something, likely our mutual parrot-fish friends, hitting their dimensional wards.Finish up the report with what Celeste told us about the Void Engineers and the Chaos fleets.
.....Unforeseen consequences....... Lets just say that I fear for the Oh my goddess world.Well we should at least spend effort on investigating the missing shamans and mages. If it was *you know what* the whole planet would be lifeless. Either it could be some internal affair OR a meta-faction kidnapping them to increase its combat strength. The first question we should ask "What are the omens left behind"Also there is a looting opportunity, how far is the rebuilding efforts going along? Or more importantly how long since they started? Because we can nick some military grade armour or weapons.Shadowrunner teams. Well we don't have any local money and I assume the base wont let us dip into their cash supplies again. We could offer trades instead of payment but there is few items we can trade.
I kind of feel like we should have BLU team sort of go undercover as a mercenary team.Partially because they might stumble upon a clue/something valuable, but mostly for morale.I mean aside from Sniper, everyone of them has pretty much been dying the past couple worlds.
>>19686104Well dying is sort of the point for them. We picked them as they respawn after death. I do agree that we can send a disguised BLU team.
Does Holtz like sweets?
You can thank Cloudflare errors for the unexpected delay.>>19687517You don't know. You begin going over the reports the Vault sent you. Is there anyone in particular you want to send this data to?>>19684108"All right, good work. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep everyone afloat for a while."
>>19689169Send it to the Magic Users of our Shadowrunner teams at the very least, warn them to not try and replicate the spells but see if they can at least tell what they were doing when they went missing.
>>19689169>>19689201Seconding. The Shadowrunners should be able to spot connections or at least the peculiarities of the spells used by those shamans/mages who were snagged. Anything that they miss will hopefully be picked up by the rest of the crew; Douglas is/was a detective, he should be going over this stuff along with the Shadowrunners.
>>19689244Speaking of detectives, what about sending Spike along to look it over. He notices alot of things that should be obvious but really aren't. And we should probably get a few of the science guys in on it, maybe Egon, Data and Cossack?
Should Tosh contact the spirit world to search for leads?Or would that be too risky considering the circumstances?
>>19689267Probably Egon, he seems best suited to this kind of thing.
>>19689267Egon, Data, and Cossack can do their thing just fine from orbit.I do approve of the Shadowrunners scouting around along with Douglas and Spike.Have an Al'Kesh with them (cloaked, naturally) for support/immediate evac. Emergency tracking beacons on all team members, please.
>>19689269I'd rather not draw attention to ourselves just yet. It's why I said not to have our Shadowrun Magic users try to copy the spell, just incase it's something in the spirit world doing it.
rolled 92, 47 = 139>>19689201The mage and shaman of your remaining Shadowrunner team begin looking over the data, with Spike and Douglas there to assist, as a separate copy is sent to your science team.
>>19689291I thought we were going to have Spy make disguises for the BLU team and sending them down. The thing with the mages, spike and douglas is the data we recieved from the vault I think.
>>19689313INVESTIGATION! For the win.You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work.
>>19689313After a day of going over all the data, arguing, checking the Shadowlands for factual odds and ends, arguing some more, going over the data again, eating Chinese take-out, and a brawl between the Street Samurai and Spike, your team reaches a conclusion."Each of the vanished magic users was currently looking into strange spiritual activity," Douglas states. "It wasn't immediately obvious as a common thread because several of the vanished appeared to have other projects or jobs they spent more time on and were better known for. Others kept it quiet. But the fact remains, that in the last month, all were investigating fleeting reports of new spirits appearing in the Astral plane."(cont.)
>>19689482"We had a look at some of the spells they were trying to use, all standard fare. Even the ones with strong feedback would've at least left a body," the combat mage among the runners notes. "However, we did find evidence of ritual Astral projection in each of the victim's homes.""We tried to find some of the people they talked to, but most of them were gone too. The ones that remained had very sketchy details," Spike says, lighting up a cigarette. "They all told us to try asking the same set of people with more information. Now, it's all too common for people who know too much to just 'disappear', but this was a bit literal for our taste.... Are you starting to see where we're going with this?"
>>19689548Mages/shamans detect "new spirits". They try to investigate with astral projection spells, and report back to other people with the information. Our other friends can now suddenly "smell" these inquisitive people very clearly. Eventually, these people get invited to have a one-way all-expense paid trip to nowhere along with anyone who was closely following these investigators. Troubling. I wonder if there's a tipping point when our other friends decide that too much prying has gone on, and just decide to hand out involuntary invitations. Or if there's something here that's making it difficult for them to do so.
...The Orz are in the spirit realm now?Well god fucking damn it.
Avoid using Astral Projection for now. Don't want to trigger whatever was grabbing the other mages and shaman. It might be the spider spirit from last time.Op, how long till Vitun's healthy.
>>19689631...Didn't they say that the incident that happened on the Command and Conquer world was an accident or something?Maybe there's a bit more too this than just "Orz be crazy".
>>19689660C'mon Codeki, you know damn well who these new spirits are.
>>19689548After a few minutes of expectant silence, Douglas and Spike sigh."Screw it, I'll just say it. It was the Orz," Spike says. "The magic users and a few others caught sight of a few of their 'fingers' trying to worm their way in, and got stuck with a short ride to a long death.""If that's even what the Orz do to who they pull," Cossack murmurs. "What little scientific evidence we've managed to pull together supports the hypothesis. There are early signs of dimensional fatigue. However, we calculate that at our current rate, the stabilizers should be up before an appreciable number of civilians are pulled, or the Orz gain a foothold here."
>>19689686yeah, but I didn't want to say their names.Saying it, summons them.
>>19689482>>19689548Is there evidence of any mages/shamans disappearing even if they weren't trying to investigate these "new spirits"? Or are these disappearances restricted to those who tried to find out more about these new arrivals? If this is something that's going to affect magic as a whole, we might need to find out some way to deny our Other Friends access to the Astral Plane. Otherwise, they may have an escape route available to them even if we set up the Quarantine Frame in the Fallout canon.
Well now what? The plan to trap the Orz pretty much hinged on them all being in the Fallout canon. If they are in multiple canons at the same time, then what can we do?Actually how could we trap them in the first place?Like what would be stopping THEM from sending more *fingers*?
>>19689724"The only ones that disappeared where the ones investigating the new spirits, it seems."
So lets inform Ferricelli?
>>19689849That would probably be prudent. Including all the quotation marks and euphemisms to make it safer to talk about them. OP, have we received those scientific notes about the Quarantine Frame yet? It might be helpful to know how it works so we can maximize its effectiveness. And so we can see if it will truly confine our Other Friends to the Fallout canon exclusively.
>>19689849>>19689887"Them... great..." Ferricelli sighs. "If I wasn't already doing so, I'd order my men to double time the Stabilizer set up."You have. Your science team is still going over it.
>>19689749>>19689749>fingers of the OrzThat might be very difficult to find out. After all, anyone who has studied them extensively has disappeared. The only ones who might know of a sure way to keep the Orz out of space might be the Arilou from Star Control. Although, it seems that the Orz can only really try to breach the canons that we've dragged the Orz into. If that space is stabilized, then they can't really force their way into that canon anymore. This would explain why the Orz first appeared in Androsynth space in the Star Control series, and why they don't just *pull* every other race from normal space in Star Control; because they can't unless there's a sufficient dimensional opening/weakening.There were only 3 Orz Nemeses waiting for us at the Fallout canon as well. Why not a dozen or more, as is the custom in Orz controlled space? It might be that the Orz entity can only send a certain amount of fingers into the canons because of the stability of space. If we trap these Orz in the Fallout canon, we're essentially clamping down on those fingers and preventing it from probing the space that it is capable of probing.
>>19690013Have we heard any news from our Looter Team? How goes their mission to salvage the Tria?Also... did our sleuths see anything else that was odd in those reports aside from the obvious gorilla in the room?
>>19690111I don't know, I kind of suspect that under normal circumstances, the Orz only *pull* people who "know too much". Like in Vaderverse, initially they only *pulled* Starscream, and now they're only *pulling* shamans who they feel are snooping. While I don't think the Orz are being framed, and do think that they are too dangerous to not be contained, I kind of worry that there's someone behind the scenes.
rolled 53 = 53>>19690304Checking...
>>19690348Or someone is using the Orz as a weapon. We DO have data on them that get people pulled, and we're capable of transmitting it to be read by unfortunate SUE-decepticons (which resulted in his subsequent disappearance). Perhaps someone used some world-wide psychic distribution of the wrong sort of information to get everyone pulled? However, the Orz in Star Control 2 mention that they are looking to move all of itself into Real Space on a more permanent basis; other dialogue seems to imply that they built Nemesis-class ships for the express purpose of moving around in real space. Maybe IT is just making space for itself. Although... aside from the Androsynth, they seem to prefer to blast hostiles apart with their ships or kill stuff with their marines rather than pulling them. That's why the Vux still existed in Star Control 2 despite asking too many questions.
>>19690452The Looter Team reports it has successfully salvaged the Tria. They will return with it after all the loose ends are tidied up.
>>19690460It may also have to do with where you are. Maybe they can only pull people who are on a planet's surface, while spaceships have to be dealt with the old fashioned way.
>>19690466OP, what is Vitun's status right now? If he needs rest, could we cast Nap Stack on him to expedite the healing process?
>>19690460That is a very troubling thought. But why the Fallout Canon? There's shitall to take.
>>19690774Exactly. They want room to grow. They said that they were going to "breed." They're going to pull more of itself out, so we need to seal it as soon as possible.
>>19690725There is no way to circumvent the rest requirement. IIRC, he should come back on day 8, when you are finished here.
>>19690834MetaOP, The Hiigaran Shipyard can make ships from the Corvette-class all the way up to the battlecruiser class. What about crew requirements? The Homeworld wiki wasn't clear on whether the ships are completely automated, or if they require crew.
>>19690946According to the wiki, the ships are crewed.>Corvettes are generally characterized by their crew size, which is small but still larger than the single pilot and occasional co-pilot crew found on fighters. Corvettes are often said to be a "missing link" between strike craft and capital ships, their firepower and armor stronger than those of a fighter while they remain faster and more maneuverable than even the most nimble frigate. Corvettes are almost entirely manned by an onboard crew rather than controlled by remote or AI.
>>19691003http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/CorvetteForgot the link.Anyway, do you have anything else you wish to do before I allow time to pass?
>>19691003>>19690834OP, if the Hiigaran shipyard constructs foreign ships (i.e. Clan Aerospace Fighters or Dropships), will we have to scrounge up qualified personnel for those? Or has the TG already forseen that and have included training videos/sims for prospective crewmen?
>>19691014I propose that we send e-card or something similar to all of our staff/crew to thank them for their services and for a good job well done so far. Yes, even Fumbles.
rolled 26 = 26>>19691042Make sure it has that footage of Ahriman running into an invisible wall on the front.
>>19691003>>19691014Okay, so can the Hiigaran Shipyard modify the ship designs so that they have holo-emitters on all decks to allow for a completely holographic crew?Even if not, the shipyard is still useful as a mobile repair facility for capital ships. As for stuff to do, we can replicate the Panther Assault Cannons with the Industrial Replicators, right?May as well equip the rest of the Mobile Infantry with them. Then, we need to buy magical foci. Do the Shadowrunner teams still have their contacts in this world? We could have the Al'Kesh capture some asteroids and have the Hercules break them down for platinum, gold, and other valuable metals, that we can use to buy the foci with.
>>19691055Maybe not with that. You never know if we'll need to blackmail him with it later on.
>>19691061>>19691029You have access to the training materials, you just need capable crew. If you had the resoc tanks modified, you would only need willing volunteers to be trained. No holographic crew, though Dr. Cossack says he thinks he can come modify fighter-designs for drone automation.
>>19691061To expand on the 'mine asteroids, make money, buy magic' plan, we can create a dummy mining corporation that we funnel the metals through. At the same time, we can short the stocks on the metals market on the Stock Exchange, generating even more money. We then take the money and use the Vault's and the Shadowrunner's fixer contacts to buy the magical foci. If we have money left over, we can distribute some to the Shadowrunners. If we really hit jackpot, then the combat troops can have another night on the town (after getting setting-appropriate clothing and fake SINs, of course).
>>19691136Sounds like we still need to go back to a StarCraft Canon in order to get those tanks. We'll have to put that in for after we have all of our bases properly defended.
>>19691136Dang. We really oughta pay the Starcraft canon a visit. See if we can't bribe/buy some plans for a Terran Barracks complete with Resoc. tanks from some pirates or on the black market.
Four days pass, and your operation to mine asteroids goes off without a hitch, providing a nice amount of funds for your 'Runner team to mess around with. Your Looter team returns with the Tria, Vitun finally returns to active duty, and the Dimensional Stabilizers are completed. Ferricelli's men are already beginning to set them up.Your Transpace Communication Array picks up a message from the TSAB. They have gone over your plans and found them useful. A heavily encrypted databurst follows, containing information on their wards.

>>19691357The Tria doesn't have a ZPM; does our science team believe that a pair, or a trio of Lesser S2 Engines would be enough to make up for it, or would some other ship reactor work better? What's the status of the drone weapons.
>>19691415They stare at you very intensely until you leave.
>>19691357Have the Aurors and Abjurers as well as any spare occult/magic researchers go over the TSAB ward data. Do the scientists with them know enough about resocialization tanks so that we can attempt to build some on our own?
>>19691422Their drone bays are 75% full, and a trio of S-2s SHOULD work, but they are not sure.
>>19691427Speaking of that. We picked up a science center, didn't we.Wouldn't that have schematics to all of that tech in it?
>>19691423I stare back at them even more intensely until THEY leave! Take that.
>>19691434Okay. Ah, shit. Does anyone in our task force have the Ancient genetic markers needed to control the Tria? Or can Data and Cossack rig together an interface that will get around the genetic marker requirement? Also, have the science team bounce around some ideas on effective power supplies for the Tria. We can try for a Federation warp core, or a Lesser S2 Engine array, or we can send the Looters to try to loot a cache of ZPM's from the Asuran homeworld during the Battle of Asura. Todd was able to get a big bag full of them, maybe we can get some ourselves.
>>19691448>>19691423Dude. Stop. Now.Don't pester the Protoss unless there's something real important on the line. >>19691612They can get "use to this shit" when they've settled down in the C&C canon and when they've agreed to formally join up with the Transspace Guard. Right now, they just happen to be working WITH us until they decide to join up OR they decide that we're wasting their time and thus want to go back to the Zerg Quest canon with all the meta-knowledge that they have. Until then, they're probably going to be in full Judicator mode and watching our every move and weighing our actions carefully.
>>19691643Patch him through.
>>19691612You dumb shit, they're not working for us yet. They can still choose to not join up. >>19691643Put the message onscreen.
>>19691667So then why not act like Terrans? If we act all prim and stuck up because we know they're still considering, they might figure that something is up because we haven't relaxed our guard around them. Which means being invited to the bad TV shows we host in the engineering bay and asking them for help getting crazy booze related presents for Holtz.

>>19692089How fast is the Meta-Transit Drive on the Thief-class ship? Also, how quickly could we install the Incursion holo-emitters we have on it?A small, stealth-capable ship might be better to send than a 4-mile long cruiser with no advanced ECM and stealth systems.
>>19692089Actually, wait, can we contact Holtz? Does Sector HQ have any other Scout Ships or Thief-class Meta-ships that would be in a better position to look for Yellowman?
>>19692170Might as well, just send him the video and ask what to do with it.
>>19692170You attempt to contact Sector HQ, only to find the transmission is being blocked.
>>19692226Well that's... Bad.Check in with Ferricelli and see if his signals are jammed as well.
>>19692274"Yeah... yeah we can't get through. The Stabilizers just went live, we were hoping it was just the systems being a little wonky about start up..."
>>19692285Can our Meta-Sensors penetrate the Meta and do a sector scan? Can those of the Vault?Has the Distortion Fleet already arrived at Sector HQ?
>>19692285Ask our science team if preventing Meta-Communication is a possible side-effect of the stabilizers?
>>19692309>>19692377Your sensors can't do a full scan, but they can definitely tell the distortion has not reached Sector HQ. Your science team tells you there is no way this is a result of the stabilizers. And on that note, I'm off for the night. Next thread on Monday! Seeya then!
>>19692377At least I HOPE those were genuine Reality Stabilizers. And not some sort of interdiction device.Have our meta-sensor ships scan to see if there's any sort of field or such that interefers with meta-communications or jumping across the meta.
>>19692392Aw shit son. Black Ops is probably involved in this, I'm sure. Either they got blasted to hell and whatever blasted them to hell is now interdicting the base, or they've decided to clamp down on stuff for no good reason.
>>19692392The Reality Stabilizers are now online here, and because of the interference, it may be best to get back to Sector HQ to report what happened and see if there's another Scout Ship that can be sent for Yellowman.
.....There is one thing we missed in the investigation. We could have asked the spider spirit.... thing that we talked to earler. Ah well...Considering the current situation. There are two situations I can think of> Black ops lostAnd are at the base and are either talking out their anger on Holtz he has been supporting the reality emitter research AND knows the guards dark secret so he will be in hot water if black ops has a bug that somehow survived all the sweeps or they are destroying everything before the distortion fleet gets here.Thinking about it where are the S.U.E's we captured in AMG? Did we transfer them over?If black ops was destroyed utterly then we could have this new meta-faction at the base. >black ops wonWell that is even worse, they would be more inclined to interrogate Holtz. If we jump to base. We should move to battle stations, have the protoss and Pellaeon had a discussion on how to best intergrate the new ships into the fleet?
>>19694089From Yellowman's transmission, Black Ops may have gotten their asses handed to them. But I'm getting a nagging feeling that there was quite a bit of friendly fire going on. It may be that Black Ops well and truly bungled this operation with their arrogant and green officers at the helm, and may have forcibly shot their way out of the situation that they were in. They may also be looking for scapegoats to pin their failure on. I hope that this is not the case.
