>>19483194http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtGqDsRbs8o&feature=relatedIn the grim darkness of the 41st millenium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of thousands of Imperial provinces that form the frontline in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commisioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution.Last session:We led a mission to retrieve a mysterious xeno artifact from a space hulk known as the 'Dark Sister'. However within the ancient shipwreck we met our most hated enemies - Traitor marines. Our ally, Rogue Trader Dercius D'anger was seriously wounded in the battle, but we managed to secure the xeno artifact - a chest full of Eldar spirit stones. However at the last moment we realised that there was an infiltrator among us who tried to activate homing beacon and teleport himself and the artifact away from us. Chapter Master tried to stop him, but the fate made dice roll the other way and instead he teleported together with infiltrator onboard Eldar ship... Alone, surounded by xenos, with no hope of reinforcements or escape. These are odds worthy of a true Astartes.

>>19483301We are...severely lacking in vehicles and Astartes-specific naval ships, unless "Cruiser" is supposed to mean Strike Cruiser.
>>19483301You find yourself on top of an alien teloportarium platform.Next to you is "Bodyguard" who now seems to have been a xeno infiltrator all along, he is holding the chest with spirit gems.Around you your target locators identify 14 Eldar, 6 of them are armed with close combat weapons - power glaives, but others seem to have only personal guns that would do little damage to your power armour.Your health: 100%Your status: Tired from the battleYou are armed with Wrath of Corax, your relic power-sword, there is a bolter strapped to your back, you have 80 bolt rounds for it in 4 magazines, also two frag grenades and a polt pistol with one 10 round magazine. There are two entrances into the room. All signs are written in Eldar, you need to roll below 5% to understand anything. What do you do?
is the IRC up again?
>>19483363Try to look not hostile. And why. Be ready to act if they move to attack.
>>19483354This quest is not naval-combat centered, so for simplicity reasons all ships(xeno ships also) are divided into 4 classes:Escorts, Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers and Super Heavy Battleships.Space Marine Strike Cruiser would be in Heavy Cruiser category.
risingsons on rizon?

trips added.>>19483409>>19483372Thread is near dead when irc is up, so for once i've decided not to do it, we speak here.
>>19483409The chat is up but we're refraining from using, and we plan on having more of the discussions in the thread to see if it generates more people joining in the fun.
>>19483391You assume defensive stance, Eldar use this to surround you from all sides, also from their quick alien chatter you assume that they've summoned reinforcements.>Surrender, mon'keigh!Bodyguard takes off his mask and stares you in the eye.>>19483417You can name yourself however you wish, it will be easier for me to connect your posts. You haven't spent any time studying Eldar language... maybe you should do it, once/if you get out of this alive.
>>194833631 )Deal with the traitor then the xenos. 2) Make mental note to carry more genades on at all times from now on.
>>19483403Thats confusing because astartes strike cruisers are actually light cruisers in BFG if i am not mistaken. It would make more sense to make them count as cruisers here.
>>19483469By deal you mean engage them in close combat, right?Note added.
>>19483467Name added.Grab the bodyguard, point the boltpistol at his head whilst simultaneously holding a grenade over the box of spirit stones."Stay where you are, or a whole lot of people are gonna die! Now, why have you xenos decided to steal the property our chapter lost so much to liberate?"
>>19483469PFFFT. We definately should not engage. We are quite outgunned."I have no ill will with any of you. It appears I've stumbled into your escape plan, and I simply wish to return to my Battle Brothers." Sheath weapon, but keep a hand ready to grab the pistol. Casually.
I don't think there's any way we can fight our way out of this. do you think there is any deal we could try and make?
>>19483500Agreed Shark. We're going to have to talk our way out of this.
>>19483194that's okay, I'll pass
>>19483484Yep, you are right about that, checked up on it again on lexicanum, and what I meant was battle barge for heavy cruiser.>>19483498>>19483500Eldar seem to relax a little bit, but not much. Bodyguard carefully gives the chest to one of the warrios and he is carrying it out of the room."By what right do you claim the souls of our BROTHERS to be your property!?" She seems to be quite angered by the very notion of what you are saying. "Put down your weapons, human warrior, and you might still live... All of them."
>>19483552Gah. Miscommunication."I was referring to my Brothers back on the spacehulk. Realizing now what that box contained, I have no wish to fight over its contents. I have perfectly willing to hand over my weapons but this sword." refer to sword on belt. "It is of great importance to my people, like that box is to yours. I will honour an agreement of no hostility if you do the same."
>>19483589Blah, should be "am" hah.
>>19483589Quicker and much more eloquent than my reply.
>>19483589Roll d100 for persuasion.btw, your skill of Charisma atm is 3, that is you get +3 to any threshold you need to pass. For this request you need to succeed to roll less than 5, so less than 8 in total.
rolled 40 = 40>>19483619Rolling
>>19483601Thank you. Since we're going all of the discussions within the thread we may have to set up a "waiting period" so we have time to talk our options over instead of everyone just racing to reply. So how about after Skargan posts, we immediately move into "Discussion" and nominate someone to post the reply?
>>19483619rolling I guess....Please emperor...
>>19483626Agreed. Impressed with my own fantastic roll.
>>19483639dammit put them in the subject field....oh well shark rolled already.
>>19483625"You are our prisoner now, and we will take..." She is interrupted by sudden change of lights in the cabin and one of the Eldar spills out a quick and visibly emotional plea to her, she starts replying him, you could use this as a chance for escape... But at the same time more warriors come into the room, at least 8 of them. Do you let this chance go by and try to find a diplomatical solution?
>>19483639You may not want to Noko your roll. Skargan can't see it, so therefore he can't "use" the roll. If that's still the same Skargan? Also, damnit on roll.
>>19483670Nah, he just accidentally put it in the subject field instead of email. Also using a name tonight as well for easy reference.
rolled 94 = 94>>19483619Omnissiah guide my dice
>>19483664I want to say dipolmatic solution, but... There's a few things. One, we don't know where we even are. We could just be running around a ship we'd have no way of getting off. Two, we have no idea how many Eldar there are here. Thoughts?
The chance of making that roll was pretty darned low. Doesn't look like we can persuade them.Perhaps the ship has come under attack? Perhaps by the foul traitors? Maybe we should see what the problem is and if we can help? If we do something for them, then we might be able to get out of this without bloodshed.
>>19483664How are the warriors equipped?>>19483670noted
>>19483685I agree. It's pretty pointless to risk death if we can't excape anywhay
>>19483687We *are* much better at killin' traitors than diplomizin'.
>>19483687I don't rate our chances of being able to get out of this one intact if we enter into combat. At best we could take down some of them but if we're on one of their ships we're probably hopelessly outnumbered.Any way we could contact our brothers for support, if we decided to go down that route maybe?
>>19483687I like that thinking Shark. So the plan is to stick around?
>>19483702We should be sure to point this out to the xenos....
>>19483670yup, noko means I can't see the dice.also I have decided that you will be able to improve Chapter Master as a character over time, here is his current profile:=Chapter Master=Charisma 3Warrior 10Leader 10Tactician 2Warrior and Leader skills were given by default and others are from what you have acomplished so far. The more you do something, the better is your skill.
>>19483710I think that's the most prudent course of action, definitely. Who knows, we may even get a filthy xeno ally out of this.EXTRA HERESY
>>19483726Alright then, who's going to reply? Shark? Your idea, your post?
>>19483726If we *do* end up with eldar allies, it would probably be best to NEVER mention it to others unless absolutely necessary, to avoid all the 'heresy' stuff.
>>19483718I thought I could put a little effort in this quest, can I?
>>19483742Forget allies, I just want to get our chapter master out of here alive.
>>19483740As long as everyone agrees with the idea. If someone wants to put forth a strong arguement for disecting the xenos scum, that'd be fine too
>>19483684Good that the roll has been made, they could have decided to kill you, my friend.>>19483683Good to see you.>>19483690Mix of eldar weapons, but all of them have Shuriken pistols and vibro-blades for close combat. The most dangerous for you would be Fussion gun, it can take down vehicles.
>>19483754I vote for what you said.
>>19483745by all means.>>19483749btw, who would you like to see as a heir, if something happens?
>>19483765Just so new people are aware, when rolling low numbers are good, high numbers...Not so good.
>>19483800What are our options for an heir?My first reaction would be our most experienced marine.
New Idea: Pretend to be an Eldar pretending to be a Space Marine! What could possibly go wrong?
>>19483800Our 1st Company Captain Brethorius would be the best cantidate for the job. Also, if this does go south, lets keep the metagaming to a low so when we gain control of him we're not immediately all "Hur, lets go to this location for whatever reason- Oh look the Chapter Masters body yay!"
>>19483664Approach bodyguard calmly. "It is not my wish to die here, nor is it my wish to make enemies of you. If there is trouble, I would offer my assistance."(apparently I fail at captcha today)
>>19483825Yeah, Brethorius. No one else has stood out so far as to break tradition.
rolled 16 = 16>>19483819That's a bad idea, and even I see it, 'pal.>>19483807Thank You, Brother Isaac.>>19483800Thankies go also to You, Mr. Skargan.I suppose we can talk our ass out of it. Also, I don't know whether it's against the rules or not, but roll - for whatever happens.
>>19483815It's hard to say who's most experienced as the chapter operates only for a little more than a decade. However here's the list of named marines in this story so far, but don't hold official positions:Brother TerciusBrother KayBrother ElegionBrother ArconBrother Harmantos Brother Inirium Brother Horim Brother Targos Brother SulixBrother ClarusBrother KronosBrother Trianonand a list of dead ones, they are also worth to remember
>>19483858Remember the glorious dead.
>>19483851And I suppose, we can do it like this :"Dear Eldar, I look not to make You any harm, Nor I look to gain any of Your property. You have gained what You wanted and IJust want to stay alive. Is that a good deal?"Mmm?
>>19483819How do you want to pull this one off?>>19483825I'd do that all the time in Diablo II, but a very good point>>19483826She looks at you, as if evaluating and then replies:>There is no danger for your life as long as you do not make us your enemies, so if you are telling the truth, we will get along just fine. But now I want you to go to your quarters where you will remain until we will decide on how exactly does future hold for you.
>>19483906"Your terms are most acceptable.I only request my weaponry be left in a room nearby, under guard of course, lest any foreign threat emerges."
>>19483906Hah, I say we do as she says. If All we are are prisoners, we should be fine.
wow i think i missed like 2-3 session
>>19483906"And I will do as You wish, but I would like to have my weaponry by my side, IF that's possible. I swear on my two hearts I will not make any threat to You."
>>19483889>>19483851I'll count your roll as a plea for giving a promise not to kill or otherwise hurt you, however we usually roll and state for what we roll at the same time.>You will come to no harm as long as you will listen to our words.
>>19483927>>19483930We have quarters. We should call room service as soon as possible.
>>19483944From my knowledge, Eldar don't actually "eat" per say. And fun fact, they poop crystals.
>>19483939Oh, I strongly apologize.Next time I will make a proper roll.Let's head to quarter then.
>>19483972Quickly, we must make our way to the septic tank and harvest all the crystals we can carry!
>>19483974Agreed. I assume we come to an agreement upon our weapons making their way back to us after this is all done?
>>19483932welcome back!>>19483927>You can keep your blade and other weapons, but we will take out their power source and ammunition. Now, please follow me.After she deactivates your weapons and takes out power source from Wrath of Corax, "bodyguard" and 8 warriors lead you through the endless corridors towards the depths of their ship. At one point you notice a feeling of weakness, similar to the one you feel when ship makes a warp jump, but this one a lot less unpleasant and somehow different.>Let us continue, warrior.
>>19483989"I feel a.....presence..... similar to the warp....is this your doing?"
>>19483989"It is possible I *will* see my chapter no more?I felt a sort of warp jump and I am afraid I will never see my BattleBrothers no more."
>>19483989So we're going through the webway. I'm not sure if I'm okay with this. We should do as the Eldar say, bide our time and see where this journey takes us.Is there any way that our brothers could locate us and perhaps stage a daring rescue with lots of slow motion sideways jumping firing two bolters?
>>19484003>>19484017We should continue to discuss in thread before nominating someone to speak or make another reply, otherwise there's a lot of conflicting things going on at once.
>>19484017NO!!!!WE *WILL* RETURN TO THE CHAPTER!!!FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!tl;dr Chapter Master's can't think like that.
>>19484020Why sideways? Why not hail them in the storm of DAKKA jumping front?I suppose that's more suitable for a Chapter Master than jumping sideways trying to dodge bullets, eh?
>>19484020Depends how far we are away from them actually. I don't think we have any kind of "tracking beacon" on our person. And I don't think our Librarian is strong enough to "sense us through the warp". We could be sectors away from them, or on the closest planet to the event. No way of knowing. Since we can't actually use Eldar technology to find out, and I don't think we can just eyeball the constalations to figure our where we are.
>>19484042It's not about dodging bullets, it's about maintaining as relaxed a posture as possible at all times.
rolled 84 = 84is this not about deathwatch?
>>19484038Okay.So we're in the webway, there's not much we can do, even if, by some miracle, we overpowered all the guards, and slaughtered the *entire* crew, we're still screwed.I think we should go to our quarters and wait.
>>19484059I think that's really the only option we have that doesn't lead to BAD END.
>>19484059Pretty much, yes. Very few humans can actually use Eldar tech, since it runs on a "Psychic signature" of the user. Most if not all of their weapons don't even have triggers, instead fired with a mental impulse. Waiting seems to be our best option right now.
>>19484070Yeah, yeah... Boring though. Slaughtering Eldar is a SM Chapter Master's sixth favorite past time!Oh well. Comply with the xenos wishes. For now.
>>19484003>>19484017"It is, warrior. We travel the eternal waves. Relax, we understand that feeling might not be similar to your crude technology. No harm will come to you.">>19484020They definitely have no knowledge of webway and you haven't got any info on Eldar. However you can make a roll of d100. I have one specific number in mind, if you will manage to roll it, blind luck might lead them to you.You are given modest Eldar quarters and locked there with two Eldar guardians. They don't want you to be bored, so they give you a board of regicide(warp knows from where did they get it) and a couple of Imperial books that turn out to be manuals on maintinaing the secondary reactors on Shadow class Escorts.
>>19484091Rolling for blind luck.
rolled 97 = 97>>19484105Damn I suck.
rolled 93 = 93>>19484091rolling
rolled 26 = 26>>19484091legendary critical failure incoming
>>19484091PFFFFT, awesome. Challange one of them to a game of Regicide. Be charming and polite. Hopefully make it a pleasent experience for all involved. Keep the books if possible.
Okay so all we can do is wait. We should read those manuals just because why not, and who knows, that knowledge might come in handy one day. We should maybe make conversation with the guardians (if they'll talk to us?) and see if we can get some sweet, sweet charisma
as a spectator, not wishing to be pushy, but i was expecting a little more action from a group of space marines who ended up on a xeno ship. i understand this is a game, but how characterful of a chapter master is it to pussy out and hand over all of his weapons because there were, how many? 8 eldar? jus' sayin', i was definitely expecting a lot more dakka. plus, what faith can you have in a chapter master who hands over his super special super shiny mega ultra sword to xenos so they can fiddle with it, deactivate it, and hand it back covered in space-cooties. it's a little less like grim dark, a little more like sad dim. then again, watching a space marine beg for his life is pretty funny.anyway, the descreption's pretty sweet, and this'll probably be the entirety of my input for tonight.
>>19484130You put it better than I, once again
rolled 6 = 6>>19484091I guess I'll roll too. I say... 46

>>19484105>>19484112>>19484119>>19484120Well, no one knows what luck has in store for you in the future, but at least at this time no one is breaking down the doors to rescue you. One of Eldar Guardians look at you and discuss something among themselves, They seem to be amused by your daydreaming.Do you want to just wait until Eldar make their move or do something?
>>19484135You have to choose your battles. A whole ship of eldar is probably too much for one Space Marine to handle, no matter how much plot armour he's wearing.
>>19484153"hey guys, have you ever seen imperial magic tricks?"*take out pen from left pocket in our belt*
>>19484135We're not "pussying out" A Chapter Master would know when is the best time to fight, and when it is not. This is one of those times. We ended up with them by accident, and we don't wish to start some big vendetta with these guys over an accident. We just want to get back to our chapter and continue on our way. You may be thinking too much of Black Templar in your explination.
>>19484091FORGED IN BATTLETEMPERED IN WARWE ARE THE EMPEROR'S CHOSENHIS ANGELS OF DEATHAND WE SHALL KNOW NO FEAR...Whilst waiting on our captors' ship playing space chess. Ok then.
>>19484130You... You are ashamed to admit, but you don't know how to play regicide. Probably this is the reason why strategy in all of your battles so far has failed. Also, they don't seem to speak Gothic and neither do you Eldar.>>19484131Reading these manuals is boring and pointless to the point of soul killing. Roll d100 to get any use out of them.
No amount of quests or roleplaying will give me actual progression.
I propose that we sit tight, try and not piss the Eldar off. Learn as much as we can from the guardians - through observation, listening to their conversations, whatever - they might let slip some information. Play regicide all day erryday.
rolled 41 = 41>>19484192derp

>>19484198At least we can make some neat paper airplanes. We should make up our own rules for Regicide by studying the pieces etc, just for fun?
>>19484217Nah, we may be taking this too far. We should be meditating. Figuring out a way of getting out of this mess if things go bad.
>>19484217We could try and communicate with the Guardians, maybe pick up some Eldar while we're at it? Pointing at things, naming them, etc like it's a bad movie? *points at self* "Chapter Master" *points at Guardian* "Guardian"
>>19484233Yeah, maybe we should just lay back a skip ahead to something happening. Keep listening to the guardians though.
>>19484233Punch our way out? Can't we tear tanks apart with our BEAR hands?
>>19484241lets go with my joker magic trick suggestion
>>19484241I think they would just find it amusing and primitive. Your comment remindng me of "The Last Samuri" though, but I don't think it have the same effect as we'd expect. They're totally alien, so probably wouldn't be able to/want to grasp what we're tying to do.
>>19484091We're at an impassé. We'll just wait and watch and listen and see where we end up. We'll try and keep those manuals too, if only for lavatory literature.
>>19484253No. We don't have Chainfists. And again, I don't think punching is going to solve anything. At least not right now. I say we wait a little. If we've been in the room for a week or two without word from the "Bodyguard" we should demand answers.
>>19484135Instead of wall of text about how game should situation should have more dakka, you could have just said: "Why don't we have more dakka?" feel free to join, then you'll have a reason to expect something.>>19484164They seem to be interested in the auto-quill you took out. >>19484464PFFFT. I want to say let it happen, but I think the "Chapter Master" may not feel comfortable with "psker mind probing" I suggest a polite negative. It may work both ways passing on knowledge, and we do NOT want to give up our secrets.
>>19484476but we ARE the Chapter Master, besides, how else are we going to smash them at Regicide?
>>19484484And while they show us out to play regicide, we show them how to activate the power core to our ships to explode. Or the Security codes for our orbital defense lasers. I want to say we shouldn't do it.
>>19484476unlike other chapter master, we have a real brain with common sense over our shoulder, and we have auto-quill, we could take an avater head on with it ! > what could possibly go wrong
>>19484499Agreed. If we're gonna learn, it's gonna have to be the hard way.
>>19484499Perhaps they give us more knowledge than just that of regicide, perhaps they show us the means to get out of here? Maybe they'll teach us to speak Eldar, that'll help with our negotiations no doubt. I imagine they think themselves above us - that there'd be nothing worthwhile having from our minds?Maybe with our improved Will we can stop them stealing all our sekrits?
>>19484499I agree with Isaac. These are still Eldar we're dealing with, they're always working towards an endgame.

This feeling is very strange, but it is good... Eldar puts his hand above the regicide pieces and tells you in Gothic:"Learn." Then, all of a sudden, pieces start moving on their own in random fashion and then... They leave the board and start floating in a strange way in the air. As you try to figure out what is happening, he lets regicide pieces to fall down, takes your hand and puts it above the figures the same way he did. "You."Do you follow his command? What do you do? Roll d100
>>19484524I still think it's too risky. These may only be "Painters and Sculptors" for the Eldar, but they're fairly advanced psykers for our standards. I say we either learn the hard way, or ask to see the "bodyguard:.

>>19484561>>19484550You decide to try it yourself... Not sure what to do, you just 'will' the figures to move and they slowly start rising in the air. There is no grace or simplicity in the way that the Guardian did it, but it is a very strange feeling that courses through your brain. Eldar laughs, tells something to his friend and then stands up and leaves the room. When he does this, the figures fall down but as long as you keep hand over them, they continue to vibrate. You think that maybe the battery powered down and you decide to check the board. However to you horror, you realise that this is a simple wooden board, there are no anti-gravitation mechanisms in there. Congratulations, you have unlocked psychic potential within you.Trait: [Psyker] gained.

>>19484930You can put on power armour before attacking them, if you want, but it will take about 10-15 minutes. As you live here for over a week, you have decided to take it off so not to use it's energy, but it's here, in the room.also now you think you could kick regicide board at the Eldar to cause a distraction. Your strategic girth might be thing that will turn the tide against our common enemies in the dark days to come. I will tell you what have I seen. I dreamt of holy warriors, your brothers, who were on a quest in wastes of ice and decay, searching for a thing of light. But what they found was more than that, something far older and far more sinister, that lies deep beneath the ice and the ground and the bones of those who fell to protect it. Their curiosity was what will cause their death in the future - they summoned ancient enemy, leviathan of space to the place of ice. It will come soon, very soon, not more than in 8 years from now. It will destroy everything and burn your home, kill your friends and brothers, you will die in it's very maws, trying to stem the tide of that what is unstoppable. But this is the future where you are caught unaware, unprepared, defenceless and exposed. This enemy has just one weakness - it has suffered for eternity and it is not willing to do so again. If you will scare it with the cage of skulls and holy numbers, it will flee. And beware of dragon in the sky and the one who promises you frienship, for they all want to watch you fall and burn. Death surrounds the birth of your chapter, seek the answers from your silent brothers, they know the reason!
