Rookie's Primer Mark One.This is TG Quest, which stands for Transpace Guard Quest. Also known as /tg/ Meta Quest, in this quest you take on the role of one of the nameless, faceless commanders of a Transpace Guard taskforce known collectively as the Command Crew. Your job is to keep the peace in your sector and eliminate reality distortions, tangles in the most basic fabric of existence itself that threaten to unmake or twist whole swathes of reality if left unchecked. This mostly means eliminating S.U.E.s, Supernaturally Unbalanced Entities who have gained god-like power at the price of slowly destroying and corrupting space-time around them. Other duties you have are to seal and contain breaches between worlds that allow “crossovers” to occur, and to make sure that the “canon” of each world unfolds as it should.
The Transpace Guard itself is based in an alternate earth that at some point discovered the existence of alternate realities. Furthermore, these realities corresponded to various fictional worlds from various media. An institute was set up to research this immediately, and various militaries began to gear up to protect the planet from any possible incursion. Over time, the institute gained exponentially more and more power until it absorbed the world's military and became the Transpace Guard. As it stands today, the Guard has large numbers of covert bases set up across countless worlds to harvest resources, research, and of course, ensure the stability of their corner of existence. As a member of the Transpace Guard, you have a hodge-podge group of troops and agents recruited not only from Earth, but from numerous other worlds. You even have a small selection of “heroes”, beings of sometimes superhuman ability from those worlds. Your role is to manage them and the resources you've gathered to accomplish your mission.
Meta Quest fuck yeah!As I recall, we still need to determine what weapons and armor to equip the Resistance and MetPharm troops with. Then we intend to go to the lynchpin that Yellowman had scouted.
Your mission is... a tall order at this point. A relatively new Command Crew, you were patched together by the commander of the local Sector HQ, Sector Manager Garret Holtz, in order to investigate and repair the damage from an incident that gave local space-time more twists than a soap opera directed by M. Night Shyamalan. So far, you've done extremely well, managing to reconnect and rescue two of the four support bases that report to the Sector HQ. You have also managed to discover the cause of the incident, a fight between a Void Engineer ship and a Chaos battleship that ended with the detonation of a Space-Time Oscillation Bomb. To repair the damage done by the bomb, you've identified that some worlds host 'lynchpin' reality distortions, that if undone, will allow reality to repair itself to a far more normal state. You have discovered five of these, and cleared three. Two yet remain, and currently your mission is focused on dealing with these.
However, this isn't the only thing you have to worry about. Internal unrest within the Transpace Guard threatens to tear the organization apart, as a mysterious attack on the Requisitions branch that causes that branch to shut down, coupled with new proof of human rights abuses by both that branch and Black Operations, shakes the organization to its roots. The smaller factions within the Guard slowly gravitate towards the Messiah faction that wishes to act in as beneficent a manner as possible, and the radical Firemen faction that wish to use any means necessary to maintain the Guard's doctrine. If that weren't enough, there is a huge reality distortion moving slowly into TG territory, word has it that the Combine is on the move and the G-Man is pulling puppet strings, the Orz move freely in the chaos, your sector's mysterious Quarantine Zone goes unwatched, Kane and Azalin Rex roam free, and who knows what other foes wait to appear? Even beyond that, more and more clues surface that the higher echelons of the Transpace Guard have been withholding information and keeping secrets from you. Your research efforts into improving Reality Emitter technology, devices that stabilize local space-time and act to neutralize most S.U.E. Powers have been stymied by heavy handed warnings from Black Ops. Secrets yielded by defeated foes hint that some aspect about the TG's doctrine is false, that some of their most vaunted technology was not created, but stolen.
However, through both clever action on your part and reinforcements from your base, you have amassed a powerful force. Whether it will be enough to triumph against the forces that wish for everything to become nothing is up to you.Even in a summary, F.O.E.! TG QUEST!!!Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19131262/Commentary on what changes should be made to the primer are welcome.
Suggested weapons and armor: assault rifles with exographic scanners and micro transporter modules, and Type 2 phaser pistols as sidearms. Armor to be a heavy, more military modern combat armor-esque version of our titanium-mesh/ceramic armor that our mages used, incorporating Kevlar in additional to ceramic ballistic plates. Also, MetaOP, if we put research into it, can we replicate cortical stacks?
Yes to Cort Stack research replication. Updated status sheet will come, but might take a bit. Meanwhile...You receive a communication from Holtz. As usual, he stares blearly into the screen.“Well, Black Ops is on their merry way. Thank God that's all over with, huh? Bad enough we had a huge Blop fleet squatting in our base making trouble, but thanks to last year's shakeups, half of them were newly promoted. Damn. Nothing worse than a newly promoted officer, they all think they've got something to prove and the power to back it up,” Holtz shakes his head. “...which reminds me. You're all being promoted. Took our sweet time with it, didn't we? You've now earned a unit designation for your little fleet. Pick a name.”
>>19201731As a quick introduction, it gets the main points across. Of course, by necessity it ends up glossing over things like other Meta-Aware Factions and operational doctrine. Also, may I suggest linking to the current Inventory and Description pastebins?
>>19201808Good idea.>>19201675Do you want me to repost his report? I've got it handy while I'm shuffling my notes around.
>>19201754Task Force 38Sure, it's simple and unimpressive and sounds like something from a war game than a real task force. But that's only if you don't know history. Task Force 38 is what brought Japan to its knees and was there at the end of WW2. I can't think of a better precedent considering our curren times.
>>19201864Yes, please repost the report. It'll bring new players up to speed and remind us older players of the salient points.
>>19201891"Turkey trots to water. Where, repeat WHERE is Task Force 34? The world wonders."
>>19201649Dude, check your mail for a certain list of the Firemen.
>"I already did. Holtz should've received it. Ah, the lynchpin world? Four S.U.E.s working together, each powered up by a different element. They're called 'Elemental Knights' or 'Elemental Guardians' or something. They've each got a patron goddess. Standard anime-style magic knight powers. The fifth one is a bit tougher of a nut to crack. Works alone, bit of a rival to the other four. Quarter Saiyan trained as a Vindicare with a C'tan phase blade gifted to him by a Callidus he worked with as well as the Exitus rifle. Combat monster, but fucking full of himself and not that bright as far as I could tell." "Ah, I only recently found this out. There's a sixth SUE too, some bullshit nihilist devil worshipper that made a contract with Hell to gain control of Germany's army. You can guess why. His powers are pathetic, though. Catch him in an emitter and separate him from his devil partner, and a single shot should do the trick.""That's the thing. It's 20th century Earth, but it's set up as a sort of 'heaven' to WH40k. A parallel world where if you die doing good works for the Emperor, he sends you there with some reincarnation bullshit or something. It's a SUE alteration so of course it's vague as fuck. Portals to the Warhammer-verse are somewhat common, mainly Chaos troops trying to wreck the sanctum. You SHOULD be able to take care of this WITHOUT going through the other side to the Warhammerverse. Encounters with those crossing over should be rare."
>>19201932Any leads so far on the names of the patron goddesses?
>>19201932That... makes no sense on a variety of levels. But you're saying it's mainly an original creation? As in that world tree doesn't have any original owners?
>>“Well, Black Ops is on their merry way. Thank God that's all over with, huh? Bad enough we had a huge Blop fleet squatting in our base making trouble, but thanks to last year's shakeups, half of them were newly promoted. Damn. Nothing worse than a newly promoted officer, they all think they've got something to prove and the power to back it upNewly promoted officers trying to take a shot at glory, and cocky to boot? That's troperiffic. Let's tell Tosh a little reminder: We'll try to make the Spectre procedures less invasive and less harmful to the mind as best as we can. If we can't fix the technologies to prevent mental trauma or anything nasty, we'll have to stop that, and just recruit existing agents instead.
>>19201966>>19201978Regrettably, Yellowman is on a mission right now. He cannot answer further questions.
>>19201932I remember there was mention of a World Tree of some kin in Yellowman's report. Also, this sounds vaguely like Terranis. http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Love_and_KriegThere may be Kriegers about.
>>19202010Well alright then. How's Cheryl feeling currently? Is she up to telling us whatever she wanted to tell us earlier, or does she still need a little while?
>>19202010Did he leave behind pictures?[OP: check your mail for the Firemen list, and feedback. Thanks.]
>>19202010Can we ask Holtz for a full text of the report so that we can refer to it?
OP, I got a question:Since we can make Transspace Lances which have the properties of the Lance of Longinus, would it be possible to make solid munitions (i.e. bullets for guns and mech-sized guns) out of the same material? If we have Transspace rounds for the RED team we have, and can make such ammunition for ballistic weapons, it could drastically increase the effectiveness of all of our troops that use conventional weaponry.
So what's the plan? Are we doing the lynchpin now or doing our Spectre sidequest now?
>>19202086We have to the lynchpin now. If we don't then we won't make the Requisitions shutdown deadline. But first we need to pick up any extra gear we might need and go through Yellowman's report.
>>19202039"I'm pretty much OK..." Cheryl says, frowning. "Soon. I want to be sure of some of his memories before I bring them up.">>19202079Yes, but that's a new research project.>>19202044Yes, a few. I'll check the Fireman List as soon as I finish polishing up your status sheet.>>19202055Holtz has the report and is willing to hand it over.
>>19202122Lets take a look at the report and check through the visual recon data. Have ANON cross-reference images with the Sector HQ's database for matches on known Canon influences so we know what kind of world and genre we're flying into.
>>19202184Most of Holtz's report matches up with what you've said, however, the attached pictures and additional data makes it clear what goddesses the report referred to, as well as what canon it is... or was, rather, before the SUEs altered it.
>>19202236I wish I could say I was surprised, but... no, I'm not. Also speaking of goddesses, do we still need to excavate that Temple of Time, or was that taken care of?
>>19202267It's taken care of.
>>19202236>>reasonable GoddessesAlright. We'll have to convince the goddesses to disconnect their service/power supply to their clients. We can probably do this without firing a single shot, hopefully. We'll need Mouse and the Shadowrunners to troubleshoot the Yggdrasil computer in this canon.
>>19202236We should be okay as long as the task force hides behind the moon. No mention if Keichi Morisato? Could be problematic. Perhaps we should deal with the Magical Girls first. We want the element of surprise with us, and the two loners are more likely to not get the news about the guardians getting assassinated than the reverse.
>>19202279Sure, they're reasonable normally.But... it looks like things have gotten a bit out of hand.
Either the Yggdrasil computer gets fixed, causing the Chaos portals to collapse, or something else. At any rate, Tosh would be susceptible to Tzeentch corruption.
>>19202279Trying to talk the goddesses out of working with the S.U.E.'s is unlikely to work and is considered a rookie mistake. They have most likely been suborned by the S.U.E.'s.
>>Skuld generally carries her debugging mallet, used against Yggdrasil bugs (eight-legged rabbit-looking entities), as a precaution wherever she goes. Yggdrasil bugs can cause adverse effects to the surrounding area such as making it snow on a single house and causing the holy steed Sleipnir to temporarily show up in the temple, and the only way to counter such effects is by debugging. One way to debug is through squishing the bugs with a mallet. Maybe the Yggdrasil's been fucked that bad.
>>19202279We have to assume that each of the goddesses here are being subverted or otherwise coerced into shunting power into the SUEs or their minions. Or at the very least, being forced to do nothing while they watch the world be corrupted by juvenile world-breakers.Also, I think there's a type of celestial bureaucracy in-place that each of the goddesses fit in to. If the SUEs were stupid enough to not focus on anything that didn't involve each of the three Goddesses, then we may be able to contact the celestial authorities to lend aid or information to us.
>>19202307Killing the S.U.E.'s will fix the problems. They are the one's causing the problems so killing them will fix the problems.
>>19202367That's very dangerous though. If they have been suborned then we can't afford letting them know of our existence.
>>19202481True, true. Best to stay in the shadows, then. Who should we include in the scoping/scouting team, then? The drones are a given, but they may have certain areas rife with detection technology due to their WH40K leanings. Assuming that these are SUEs that draw inspiration from Japanese works, then sending in Spike might risk detection.
>>19202553Send in Gondegal and a Shadowrunner shaman. Do we have an Auror? Have one scry around. Alternatively, have Alicia and Lavian multiclassed?
Be careful, those goddesses are the children of an almighty god. YHWH equivalent. To what extent can a SUE corrupt things? If they just overrode them with SUE-aura, a reality emitter should be able to free them. I particularly suggest "saving" Skuld. She's a system manager and is adept at fixing bugs and maintaining stability. We'll get along real well.
>>19201932Hmm, based on these we could go for the standard divide and conquer against the SUEs. We take out the sixth SUE first and basically steal the name of his organisation so we can do what we did on Vader-SUE world. And when we need to take out the assassin-SUE, just set up a trap by using the so called sixth SUE as bait, and ambush the assassin when he comes along. So what do you guy think of the idea?
>>19202553BLU Spy and an Observer. However, we should use our technology and personnel to their full advantage when we're in a technologically modern world. Have Data, Mouse, and the Deckers from the Shadowrunner teams go aboard the Indefatigable. Have them hack into a comm satellite and access the Internet. SUE's invariably can't stay away from attention, so they probably have a fan club set up and where there's fans, someone will have already gotten their schedules and daily routines for us.
>>19202618I prefer a fast and sudden decapitating strike against the 4 Elemental Guardians, not allowing them to get any kind of defense ready. They work together so they are the greates threat.
>>19202691Time is not on our side, so we better do this quickly. We need the hero Rigger to jump into a drone to basically super-inflate its stats/basically emulate a hero-level drone.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves here.We need to leave first.
>>19202822oh god I lol'd.Our cart is lightyears ahead of the horse.
>>19202822In order to leave we need to say what we're equipping the Resistance/CorpSec with.
>>19202851If it's better than what they have equipped, replicate them titanium/ceramic Meta-Armor and some rifles with those exothermic, shoot though the wall thingies. Also phasers.
>>19202851>>19202859Yeah, I used that suggestion since no one else suggested anything. If you're not going to make further preparation, shall you depart?
>>19202869We're probably ready to head out.If you get the chance though, could you pop into the metaquest IRC channel, a couple minor questions on the cleric.
>>19202869Make sure that Kalinka is safe at a secure TG off-world colony. Preferably one that won't get dragged into the TG Civil War.
>>19202883Holtz has her at base for now, they're going through the long process of selecting a colony, but they know full well time is a factor. Her appointment to a colony should be finalized with the week, Holtz has already discussed the matter with the senator.
>>19202859>>19202869We may also want to outfit our 20th Century era zombie hunters with some better gear; at the moment, they're using standard guns and other stuff they scavenged during their time in Horrorworld. Perhaps some cleverly replicated advanced armor and arms would be good so they'll easily blend in with 21st century people.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27939266/Cleric.pdfCurrent version of our Cleric. His AC is low because we can craft better armor than he can buy.
>>19203029We can replicate for them SWAT-styled armor and falsified police credentials. The armor, of course, will actually be our special blend of titanium, ceramics, kevlar, and tritanium, and their assault rifles will be upgraded with exographic scanners and microtransporter modules. Also Type 2 phaser pistol sidearms.
For the time being your Engineering Bay is still busy crafting a set of Incursion holo-emitters, and you've used up your requisitions for now.Anything else or shall we go?
>>19203107The basic equipment can be replicated using the replicators on the Indefatigable. We should make a note for the Looters to try to steal a Class 4 Industrial Replicator from the Maquis, after they steal a dozen of them from the Federation.Actually, about those Looters...Can we send them out on an acquisition run now? How is this going to work?
>>19203138Yes, you can identify a looter team target and send them out.
>>19203159I assume, of course, that we can't attempt to enact our plan to steal, completely intact, a Tausennigan Ob'enn Thunderhead-class superfortress. What about sending them to a Star Trek: Deep Space 9 Canon to steal one or two Class Four Industrial Replicators? We know where those replicators are going to be, and the Maquis never did anything with them. And, of course, when the Dominion War went hot, they all got wiped out anyway.
>>19203159According to http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Class_4_industrial_replicator the Marquis hijacked twelve Class 4 industrial replicators. It is unknown what happened to them after that point.I suggest we send out the looting team to steal these replicators. And possibly a couple ships with Holodecks if they get the chance.
>>19203159Let's start our Looter Team on something valuable but not absurdly difficult to acquire. I'm assuming that stealing something from the Federation will be fairly difficult given that their technology rivals ours, sans the meta drives and other miscellaneous bits of cross-canon tech.
>>19203228That's the thing. We wouldn't be robbing the Federation. We'd be robbing a rebel faction that gets crushed soon after.
>>19203213>>19203224So this mission then? For the time being, I send the team out, and make a few SECRET ROLLS, and then when you get back from your mission, they report in with the results ala FFT side jobs."I had a good feeling!"
>>19203245That works. Depending on how hard, +/- bonuses on them to make them fair.
>>19203228From the Federation itself? Yes, I would say so.From the Maquis, who were nothing more than bunch of terrorists and disgruntled colonists that got all of their asses killed when the Cardassians stopped playing nice and went all Occupation of Bajor on them? Not so much.Especially when we know which freighter they're going to use, and we can place a homing beacon on it, and then when they go to warp, after the episode ends, we attack, take their warp drive offline, vent the atmosphere, kill all of them, and take the CFI Replicators for ourselves.
>>19203245Can we send troops, equipment, or additional vessels with them to provide them with bonuses?Like a pair of Al'Kesh, or a few Mobile Emitters to provide them with a holographic kill-team?
>>19203245>>19203224Also make a note to the looter team: miscellaneous items such as tricorders, phasers, medical supplies, are always welcome. If they can safely get their hands on starship blueprints or such, do so, but focus on the replicators.
>>19203277Yes but you risk losing them.>>19203305You really DON'T need to remind the Looter Team to loot.
Okay, if we're going to do this, we should plan this right.Michael Eddington can't be killed during this operation, and he's the one that's on the Vulcan freighter that has the replicators. We can't just hijack the freighter while it's in transit. We need to steal the replicators after the Maquis get them, but before the Cardassians kill them all.
>>19203322Depends. If they were to hijack it, steal the replicators and leave him alive, it'd be possible. We would have to trust the team not to loot him or the ship though, so they'd be best off waiting till after he lands and they ship them off in probably a different ship.
>>19203322http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Blaze_of_Glory_(episode)This episode dates approximately when the Looter team needs to arrive. They need to find and loot the replicators before the Dominion can find them, or before fleeing Maquis can destroy them.I believe we need to send two, at least one, Al'Kesh with the Looter team. They'll need the Asgard transporter array in order to be able to beam away the replicators.
>>19203374I suppose that could be done. The Maquis all need to die, but they can't die too quickly or easily. If we take, say, 4 of the replicators, that should let them resist long enough.
Annoyingly enough, the pastebin keeper's been doing a better job of keeping track of stuff than I have been. Here's the link to your inventory pastebin.http://pastebin.com/HGsJUZZb
>>19203481Ah, that would be me.Here's the Descriptions pastebin, which contains short informative blurbs about each troop and vehicle, and contains links for further information.http://pastebin.com/UpKiRZnh
>>19203481I just updated the Zombie Hunters with their new equipment. How many of the Resistance/CorpSec troopers did we get? Did we recruit all of the MetPharm HighSec troopers?
>>19203560The 12 MetPharm High Sec troopers still need a talking to.Dystopian Squad: Medium infantry with assault rifles with exographic scanners and micro transporter modules, and Type 2 phaser pistols as sidearms. Armored with medium titanium-mesh/Kevlar/ceramic armor. Number: (48/48).
>>19203603>The 12 MetPharm High Sec troopers still need a talking to.Well, I'd say have Spike have a go at them.
>>19203676We left her behind, I believe. We should probably get going to the next linchpin.
>>19203676She got sent back to her native canon or something after we killed Grimm. She's probably doing fine, but completely out of our reach.>>19203603Seconding having Spike talk to them.
>>19203719We can send our new cleric too. High diplomacy score.
>>19203648Add Starlord to the list too. He's our troop commander.
rolled 72 = 72>>19203764>>19203734>>19203719>>19203648Spike, Star-Lord, and Virtun arrive at the same time to try and convince the MetPharm squad to sign on. They're mooks, so I'm not going to RP this. Roll time!>You need a 26 or better to win them over thanks to your pooled diplomacy talent.
>>19203812You convinced them to join. They are equipped with MetPharm Security Armor, and laser assault rifles.
>>19203832While we're still at base and have access to the fabrication facilities and material stores here, also make sure to equip the MetPharm troopers with assault rifles with the exographic scanners and micro-transporter modules. If we're going to be using auxillaries and mooks, we may as well make sure they can shoot through walls.
just thought of something.how many of our troops/heros know that they are fictional? do WE know that our recruits are fictional? do we know that we ourselves are fictional?
>>19203832Hooray for good talkings!I can't think of anything else we need to do as far as housekeeping goes... so I'll put forth the motion to embark upon the Elementals & Yggdrasil lynchpin.
>>19203832Also, how are Alicia and Lavian's stats? Did they ever multiclass?
>>19203914>>19203885No they never multiclassed, and you're not sure. The topic itself is still hotly debated in some circles.
>>19203935Oh, before we leave, in addition to the new weapons, can we get 100 pounds of C4 and Semtex, with remote detonators? May as well have the stuff ready and on-hand.
>>19203885That's the whole point to the setting, bro. They're all real. We're all real. Everything is real.If we don't have anything else to do, I guess we can head out. Everyone's on board, right? Also, ask the Farseers if they have to metaphorically 'touch' the skeins to read them, or if it's a 'hands off' kind of thing. I think touching might alert some things later, and I'd like to know if we'd be on a time limit for them untangling skeins before we get jumped.>>19203968+1 to this. Could be useful.
>>19203935Reminding you about the email. I have no "western samples" to speak of in there.
>>19203988Okay, I believe we're ready. The Looter Team is to take 2 Al'Kesh with them to assist in acquiring those Class Four Industrial Replicators before they're captured or destroyed by the Dominion. They are to be careful NOT to be anywhere in the area when a Dominion ship is present; the Jem'Hadar attack ships have an antiproton sweep that they can use to disable cloaking devices for 10 seconds.
Man, the /tg/ dice are being real fuckers tonight with the rolls in Zerg Quest.
>>19203935ok, i was curious as to how some of the characters reacted to learning that that they, and everything they ever knew, were just figments of someone's imagination.
>>19204074Oh man, and that Magical Girl Quest that just started up?Man, talk about low rolls. This is not a good night to roll dice.
>>19204041Okay, so everyone's agreed on the 2 Al'Kesh for the Looter Team? What about the 3 Mobile Emitters mentioned earlier?
>>19203988If we haven't already (and if it won't attract the ire of the TG Black Ops), let's make sure we have a good supply of infantry-scale Reality Disruptors. If we're smart, we probably won't need 'em, but still. Also, can the infantry-scale Reality Disruptors be adapted for use on robots like the Securitrons we have?
>>19204130What, asking Holtz to manufacture Reality Disruptor Rifles at Sector HQ? You could try asking, but don't forget that he's got other teams to support too.Not to mention, Black Ops was JUST HERE. Who knows how many new bugs and backdoors they installed while they were running around this base.
After much preparation, your ships form up into transit formation and execute a transpace jump. A few minutes later you arrive at the new lynchpin somewhere between the moon and earth. Your passive sensors detect nothing near you.
>>19204174Have all ships move to safety behind the Moon.Get our e-warfare specialists (Mouse, Data, Sandmen, Deckers from the Shadowrunners) onto the Indefatigable, which will cloak and get them access to the Internet via hacking a communication satellite. While doing so, have the Storm scan Earth for reality distortions.
>>19204194In addition, get the RVF-25 up and ready to project an ECM bubble around the Task Force if it looks like we've been detected.
>>19204194Searching the Internet, they are to look for mentions of our 5 targets. Anything related to them, like LiveJournals, personal blogs, and see if any have fan clubs of any kind. Dig up information.See if we can find daily routines, their schedules, if they're expected to make public announcements or anything of the kind.
>>19204194>>19204208Your ships begin to move as the Indefatigable prepares for its hacking mission. Gaining internet access is done easily enough. The Storm detects an extremely large number of minor reality distortions planetside as well as the six large-scale distortions that signal the presence of SUEs. All six are in Japan, in a single city.
>>19204208Have the rigger prepare to control a drone or two during scouting. Jumping into a drone should do. To get a good connection, have him ride inside the RVF-25's rear seat so he can maintain control.
>>19204273Check the news stations and news sites for each major country (USA, Japan, Europe, etc.). Comb through relevant articles to get a feel of what's happening in the world at the moment, and keep an eye out for mentions of the SUEs.
>>19204273Also, see if we can get an up-to-date satellite image of Japan. Are there any major changes in its landmass or any conspicuous changes to the cities that we can see?
They're probably all living at Keiichi's house, or near it, considering they're attached to the goddesses. If we bring Almighty or Hild into this, they might become meta-aware, and we don't need any more deities reaching out there. So what's our cover-story gonna be?
Tokyo Tower doubles as a communications array. >>The tower now broadcasts analog television, digital television, radio and digital radioSo what crazy things can we use it to our advantage for?
>>19204342Nope.>>19204301Splattered across the news is the bizarre announcement that Germany has begun building up its army again and has given control of it and the title of Grand Marshal to some twenty-something guy with no military background named "Trevor."You immediately recognize descriptions of him as matching the S.U.E. that made a deal with Hell.
>>19204359If things get violent, we could sound an alert for a gas leak or something and order everyone to get to their homes and off the street. Dude, maybe we could rig up a reality emitter and broadcast the signal all over the city.
>>19204413That's fucking brilliant. We could have people pretend to be maintenance/construction staff to do the job.
>>19204402Dig up whatever information we can on Trevor. His whereabouts, and his schedule. Find out if he has a staff, and who they are.
>>19204413Is... is that how Reality Emitters work?
>>19204402okay, the japan situation can wait.We need to murder this guy in his face, quick. Bringing hell-nazis will make our job so much harder. Let's make a quick and professional kill. He's not very bright, so send him a message under an infernal guise telling him we need to meet up. The location is an empty warehouse. The warehouse will be ringed with reality emitters, and troops in the area will have reality rifles. Tosh will have his sniper setup, and we can beam in backup killteams if we need to.Once he's in the warehouse, activate all emitters, then have Tosh take the shot(s). If he soaks them, beam in our heaviest hitters and flatten him.Give him no time to summon hell-support or get off any one-liners. Lead is in the air from the moment the emitters are active.
>>19204482We'll have to roll and see. We don't know how they work, remember?
>>19204402Right. Let's turn the Fernsehturm Berlin into a giant reality emitter as well. Should fuck up Trevor something fierce.
>>19204482A.N.O.N., is such a thing even possible?
>>19204458Currently, he is on some sort of business trip to a city in Japan named "Nekomi". His only staff is a mysterious advisor that always seems to accompany him. With a little bit of effort, you manage to find a picture of her.
>>19204506With our Abjurers, I'm pretty sure we can literally summon a demon or devil that could deliver the message.Or is that too risky?
>>19204515"Though reality emitters do not function in the same way as other sorts of wave-emitters, covertly installing a capital-grade reality emitter into Tokyo Tower or a similar structure is theoretically possible. However, we have no spare emitters, and we lack the facilities to create them from scratch."
>>19204553Right, let's cannibalize a Baneblade, Von Luckner or the Gunstar for an emitter.
>>19204607Read the inventory. None of what you listed has a Reality Emitter equipped.
>>19204607Not big enough.
>>19204351Considering that the Almighty is... well, the Almighty, I would advise proceeding on the following assumption. He Knows, always has, always does, always will. If He wants to talk to us, He will. Otherwise, we can assume we're not doing anything that is counter to His will and don't need to go looking for Him.I do, however, think that Hild is far more constrained in her perceptions of reality, despite the in-universe affirmations of her being sorta-equal to the big G. The theological foundations of this universe/OMG! are not of our concern at this time anyway. Needless to say, revealing in anyway the Meta to Hild (and that the Lord may have been humouring her all this time in this universe/OMG! for kicks) would be unwise.
>>19204553Bring in Egon."Dr. Spengler, you have worked on the reality emitter circuitry before. Do you believe that it would be possible to tie in the capital ship-grade Reality Emitter from an Al'Kesh transport to the transmitter at Tokyo Tower, in order to massively amplify the field? I believe you worked on turning the Eiffel Tower into a massive ghost trap/containment unit. Could that expertise be of use here?"
>>19204660"It might be possible, but given the mobility of the Al'Kesh, wouldn't it be better to simply fly it around as needed while cloaked?" Egon asks, pushing up his glasses with one hand.
>>19204660I don't think that's wise. Affecting the whole city will just draw the attention of the other SUES and their "patrons". Considering the nature of reality in OMG!, it is possible that they could use Yggdrasil to alter the fabric of reality to counter-act our emitters. Keeping our hit against the neo-nazi simple and low-key would be to our advantage. Either faking a meeting (unlikely since Mara is his "aide") or setting up an ambush (disguising it as a hit by German loyalists against re-militarization could be doable. I vaguely recall hearing that the German federal constitution basically demands that citizens resist aggressive militarism by any means necessary) would be the wisest choices. Otherwise, we could wait for the next clash between the SUES to spring a trap and take them down, but that would risk causing civilian casualties.
>>19204524Marller is effectively immortal, and has been killed by all sorts of things, including mundane explosives. A surprise bullet in the skull will take her out for a day while she regenerates. In the time, we can send our message and assassinate the SUE.I'm curious as to whether she's manipulating him, or the other way around.
>>19204741"That's what I thought, but for some reason my colleagues seem to be fixated on using the Tokyo Tower."At any rate, thank you for your expert opinion, Dr. Spengler."
>>19204756What we need is to separate him from Mara, catch him in a reality field (not a difficulty since we have 6 Al'Kesh with us), and shoot him in the head using a one of our TR-116 analogues. The problem will be getting her away from him.
I disagree with going after Trevor, though.Terminating him could tip off the others when Mara becomes unbound.I still think we should go after the Elemental Guardians first.MetaOP, have our web trawlers found anything on those four yet?
>>19204812Send a hologram of Keichi walking past. She'll follow him in a heartbeat.
>>19204848We could use one of our Mobile Emitters for that, then. There's also the question of do we even need to get her away? We could:1. have troops and Al'Kesh in position2. beam Aglaophotis-A gas grenades into whatever room Travis and Mara are in3. simultaneously activate reality emitter4. assassinate Travis with a single bullet fired from a gun and transported to 8 cm away from the back of his head.
>>19204273Scan the minor reality distortions and their locations. Try to see if those small distortions are actual living and ambulatory things, or if they're sorts of magical artifacts or enplacements of some sort.
>>19204833I concur with my colleague. We need to first establish the activities of all the SUEs before we begin planning the order in which we take them out. The neo-nazi may be inconsequential compared to the other ones, or the inverse, but we need to know who they are, where they live and what they do before we can act. This mission will call for subtlety rather than force, gentlemen. I would rather not have to involve our heavier elements for this one. If we need to deploy the Knights Inductor, the MI or any of our armour support, we will have failed our task. Similarly, I feel that use of our space/air assets can also be avoided by careful planning and use of our man-portable emitters. We've dealt with SUEs efficiently and quietly before, we can do so again.
>>19204979>Similarly, I feel that use of our space/air assets can also be avoided by careful planning and use of our man-portable emitters.I disagree. The Al'Kesh Transports and the Indefatigable provide us with tactical flexibility impossible with conventional ground vehicles and operatives on foot. I believe that they should remain a core part of any plan we make.
>>19204402Interesting. If Trevor is the only one of them to make international headlines, then it might be possible that the other Elemental SUEs are trying to get in on the "slice of life" thing that the Goddesses/Keiichi have going. This is probably going to annoy and bore the hell out of our investigative staff, but have them see if they can access any sort of school newspapers online, ranging from high-school (or the Japanese equivalent) to college-level. See if there are any mentions of particularly creative students or outstanding members of student organizations. Also, see if these students are linked to a college motor club.
>>19205057They should also look at small local newspapers with limited circulation, specifically in the Chiba Prefecture, Nekomi Ward, Nekomi City.
>>19205083Also, check to see if the Gundam/Cowboy Bebop/Star Wars/Final Fantasy Tactics/Starcraft series exist as games in this universe. It wouldn't do us any good if our infiltrators can be recognized by anyone vaguely familiar with gaming/anime culture.
>>19205110On the other hand, accidentally landing at Comic-Con will just get you compliments on being dedicated to your cosplay.
>Trevor doing massive buildup>sneak explosives into his place>detonate in his sleepproblem solved, blame it on lax handling procedures.
>>19205204The problem is how, when he has a demon with reality-warping powers on guard defending his person.
So, we're still waiting on more information, MetaOP, in case you were wondering if we were going to do anything.
rolled 47 = 47>>19205110Yes they do, though some have slightly altered names.Your hackers conduct a more thorough search as the Storm positions itself to conduct an orbital scan on the minor distortions. It manages to lock onto a particularly high concentration of the things, and this is what it sees.
>>19205240I would support the earlier plan to teleport large amounts of explosives into the thing over in Germany... Once we're sure of the exact nature of the connections the SUEs have with this world. As for these bugs.. Is there anything about them that doesn't sync up with their canon nature? These may be SUE-influenced viruses...Matter of fact... ANON, confirm all firewalls and anti-virus protocols are up and running at full power taskforce-wide. No need to take chances on the range of those things.
>>19205240I presume those are the Yggdrasil bugs that Skuld can smash with her hammer. They'd look adorable, But for the fact that they strongly remind me of camel spiders. But with bigger eyes. And rabbit ears for sharper hearing. And ears for better hearing. And bigger teeth for biting.I'm unfamiliar with the setting, but from what I've read earlier, these bugs can cause unusual phenomena to occur. Reality distortions may be par for the course, but it is also likely that the SUEs' influence has caused some side-effects as well. The heavy presence of bugs in the world could indicate a decline in Yggdrasil as a whole. It could also indicate that the goddess in charge of debugging may be under the SUEs' control.
>>19205240I wonder if we can debug them with a rifle.
>>19205240That's a system bug. For all his power, Almighty built a crappy system to run this universe. Don't worry, they're canonical canon failures. Ridiculous. >>19205216Like I said, Mara is vulnerable to mundane weaponry. Enough damage and she'll warp back to hell to recuperate for 24 hours.Do this while Trevor is away from her, and he wont suspect that its US sending the meet up message from Mara. Then we ambush and kill him.
>>19205442If we send Mara away, there's no need to bother with pretenses and messages.Just park a cloaked Al'Kesh over him, activate the Reality Emitter, and have someone shoot Trevor in the head with one of our exographic scanner and micro-transporter equipped rifles.
>>19205458Problem with that is that SUEs can sometimes take multiple emitters to bring down. That's why I want to do the warehouse trap. It's guaranteed kill.
The Avatar's words are kinda making sense right now. Instead of killing him right out, let's try capturing him and sticking him in a glass tube surrounded by reality emitters. It's more humane.
>>19205240>47I hope all of that concentrated computer talent, we've found information pertaining to our targets.Trevor is easy enough to terminate, so let's move on to who we actually need to worry about: the four Elemental Guardians.
>>19205472Well, if we do manage to trap him, we may be able to use him as bait for the assassin
>>19205471We still don't need a warehouse, because all of our capital ship-grade reality emitters are mobile.Instead of bringing Trevor to where we have our Al'Kesh in a holding pattern, we simply take them to where he is, and catch him in overlapping reality fields.
>>19205472Admittedly, if we could capture him alive, it would be a great boost to our research for the SUE-Cure. But how do you propose we capture him?And if we plan to do so, we'll definitely have to make him the last target on the list, otherwise we'd have to contend with Mara coming to free him.
>>19205493The problem with that is that he's a public figure, and may be someplace where a battle would be unacceptable. However, his dealing with demons is certainly secret, so we can get him to a hidden location by pretending to be a contact.
>>19205540>worried about MaraHave you seen the shit she fails against? Mara is a gag character. Most anything that would kill a normal man kills her.
>>19205476>>19205240The best your hackers can find is an article in the Nekomi Tech student newspaper bemoaning the departure of foreign exchange student Belldandy following some sort of falling out between her and one Keichi Morisato. There is also an article about a bizarre fight in a local supermarket that nearly killed a number of people. The fight was between a stranger in dark clothing with a shimmering blade and a number of huge men in machined armor with some sort of chainsaw axes. The supermarket was partially destroyed in the fight and no bodies were recovered.
>>19205598I wonder if there's a way to use Keichi to TRUE LOVE the Goddesses away from the sues and back to him. It may be worth recruiting him and telling him we're from a Goddess team here to fix the problem with his broken wish.I'm also pretty sure that the second Belldandy gets within a reality field, she'll try to return to Keichi, and she'll be pissed at whoever took her from him.
>>19205598Well, well, well. They let a fight between one of the Sues and some Chaos Marines actually make it to the media. Let see if there are more occurences like this. If there are a very small number of occurences, the Sues must have been covering them up, either through memory shenanigans or quick repair. We could use that to our advantage. But if its more overt and there are more news like that, the Sues don't really care if they get spotted and we can sneak up and stab em in hte back
>>19205598Looks like we're gonna have to go find Belldandy. Welp.I'm going to assume that Chaos is one of the forces involved in that fight... ANON, please direct the sensors to scan for 40k type power sources.
>>19205598Is there a picture of this Stranger?
>>19205735>>19205733There is a blurry picture, and you recognize the uniform of a Vindicare Assassin on one of the combatants. There are no 40k power sources large enough to be distinguishable, IE titan size and above.
Here's a spell that could come in handy for capturing people we want caught.Amber SarcophagusEvocationLevel: Sorcerer/wizard 7Components: V, S, MCasting Time: 1 standard actionRange: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)Target: One creatureDuration: 1 day/levelSaving Throw: NoneSpell Resistance: YesYou infuse an amber sphere with magical power and hurl it toward the target. If you succeed on a ranged touch attack, the amber strikes the target and envelops it in coruscating energy thathardens immediately, trapping the target within a translucent, immobile amber shell. The target is perfectly preserved and held in stasis, unharmed yet unable to take any actions. Within the amber sarcophagus, the target is protected against all attacks, including purely mental ones. The amber sarcophagus has hardness 5 and 10 hp per caster level (maximum 200 hp). If it is reduced to 0 hp, it shatters and crumbles to worthless amber dust, at which point the target is released from stasis (although it is flatfooted until its next turn). Left alone, the amber sarcophagus traps the target for the duration of the spell, then disappears before releasing the target from captive stasis.Material Component: An amber sphere worth at least 500 gp.
>>19205908Well at least there's that.
Belldandy was either driven off by the competition, or ran when Keiichi was taken in by the SUE aura.If she's still sane, she'd make a powerful ally.
>>19206034I think it's more that Belldandy got taken in by the sue aura. As I think it was said that Belldandy is one of the goddesses sponsoring the sues.
>>19206072Could be. As it stands, we do need more information. Perhaps a information scan on Keichi Morisato and a face to face interview later on?
>>19206230It may be worth grabbing Keichi and passing ourselves as a Wish Repair Squad or something. If he uses his Otaku to recognize any of our characters, explain it as "Taking familiar forms from his mind, to make him more at ease and blend in."Then we fit him with reality emitters. I have a strong feeling that when Belldandy is inside one, she'll turn into her normal self and try and get back to Keichi. And will be unhappy with whoever seperated them in the first place.
>>19205598From the Nekomi Tech Registrar's Office, get the address of Keichi.Train some passive sensors on that from the Indefatigable and the Storm, and get an Observer to get visual data.Make sure that the Observer stays at least a mile away from the temple, we don't want to tip our hand too quickly.
And off I go for the night. Will pick up tomorrow night if this is still here.
>>19206230Don't assume that Keichi hasn't been taken over by the S.U.E.'s somehow. One of the four might have wanted to get him for herself.Any attempt to get in touch with him is premature until we have a better understanding of the situation. And for that, we need to get an Observer in place to act as a spy sat and give us a video feed of the Morisato residence.
Vindicare-kid is going to be straightforward enough: snipe him.The Elemental Guardians require more observation to figure out how best to kill them. Are we going to try to capture Trevor, rather than terminate him? If we did, it would admittedly be a huge boost to our anti-S.U.E. research. Any idea on how we should bring it about?
Depending on how much chaos is encroaching into this world, it might be worth seeing if we can strike a deal with Hild.We want to return reality to how it was and if chaos is screwing with her goals, and as such wants the same thing, she may be willing to work/deal with us.>>19208220Perhaps distract the demon with troops armed with anti-demon whilst we incapacitate/abduct 'Trevor'?Do we have any means of teleporting? As a teleport smash and grab whilst the demon is distracted might work.Another possibility is checking whether there are people in the German military who are unhappy with 'Trevor' having seized control of the military.
>>19208818Chaos encroachments are small and rare; that's what Yellowman's report said, and seems to be backed by what we've seen of the world news. We shouldn't make contact with Canon-important natives beyond what is strictly necessary.>Perhaps distract the demon with troops armed with anti-demon whilst we incapacitate/abduct 'Trevor'?We can use Aglaophotis-A gas grenades and mini-missiles, but we'll have to wait for the Engineering Bay to finish with those Incursion holo-emitters.Reality Disruptor Rifles may also have some effect, as she's a demon.>Do we have any means of teleporting? Federation transporters, Asgard transporters, arcane Teleport, and psionic Teleport. However, the momentary loss of the reality field during transporter usage is a concern, and I would suggest that we use a conventional means of extraction, i.e. we beam down an entire squad in power armor and reality emitters, they rush him, hit him over the head, and rush him up into a waiting Al'Kesh with its capital ship-grade reality emitter on full power.
Guys, did we ever tell Holtz about the information we get from Philemon in exchange for the blue crystals?Information regarding the Combine should really be sent to the sectors that have to deal with them, so they know to go on high alert.
The Inventory pastebin is now up to date. We still need to know which among the X-COM NOVA squads has psi powers.
Workin' overtime...Anyway. So, wat do?>>19205057No hits on the motor club, but there are a number of outstanding awards for one Taiichi Comasato in regional kendo tournaments.
>>19217669I have no idea on how Japanese names should sound, and that name still sounds hilariously inappropriate. Have our team try and see if they can get any more leads on this "Taiichi Comasato".
rolled 7 = 7>>19217735They start hackin'.
>>19217669>>Workin' overtime, fightin' crimeFridge logic about outposts inside canons:If a canon is supposed to naturally run it's course, wouldn't it reset back on completion? If it doesn't, then would the canon enter a state of limbo where time and physics seem to be suspended? But if the canon DOES reset after running its course, wouldn't non-canon natives get hit by the reset wave and be erased? Or does the canon enter a state of "undefined" after completion? If it is "undefined", then does that mean people and things in the canon logically follow an extrapolation of what has happened in the canon plot thus far?Alternatively for game canons, wouldn't every completion of the main canon running its course produce a new canon that makes slight differences/permutations to minor/ultra-minor events as well as major ones -- and thus, making minor branches from major canon branch paths?
>>19217778I SEE WE'RE OFF TO A GOOD START!"Well that's odd..." Mouse murmurs as he keeps both hands 'fused' with the I/O port of the Indefatigable's communications relay. "Way too much secur- hey... hey, whoa! Wait a minute! What the hell is-"Mouse is cut off as a section of wall near him explodes outward, sending a spray of water into the air as a pipe is violently breached. From the spray materializes a young girl with a large hammer. She points accusingly at Mouse."Just what do you think you're doing?!" she yells.
>>19217778Have Mouse and the shadowrunners hit up 2ch, mixi and blog.livedoor.jp for the name. Ask Ryu for help with Japanese.
>>19217820The way I see it, each canon has a key sequence of events in space and time, the events seen in the work it was based off of.Anything else outside that sequence is fair game, as long as it does not even tangentially interfere with said key sequence.
>>19217820Once a canon runs its course, things just continue on. There are outposts that occupy worlds where the canon's chain of events has been complete for years... at least, until the sequel.
>>19217855Scan Skuld for any reality distortions. Pull Mouse away from the area ASAP and behind closed doors.Meanwhile, have the others continue stalking the jp websites for the person.
>>19217820As far as we know, after a canon has run its course (i.e. after a game finishes or a show has its series finale), time progresses as usual and everyone gets on with their lives The canon can then be interacted without causing blatant reality distortions unless the canon itself is wrenched from its universal moorings. In fact, that's what happened to the Silent Hill canon when we fought the Ebon Night. After the events in SH3 (best ending), the cultists were jailed, and Cheryl and Doug went their separate ways until the SH canon was mashed into what we dubbed "Horrorworld", which was a huge mix of several horror genres.Game canons are a bit trickier. It seems as if there is one main canon, which may follow a certain ending. But the games with many choices that seriously impact the story may create an equal number of branching sub-canons. An example of this can be seen in the Transspace Guard requisitions department, who managed to get their hands on a version of The Nameless One whom picked the option to become the Silent King in his canon. But undoubtedly, there's also a TNO who managed to get to the endgame and become the ** ALL CAPS SPEAKING WITH ASTERISKS ** version of himself after dealing with the Transcendent One.
>>19217855Lartiet! (the Cleric)Reason with her using your reason.
>>19217855Question, OP: where exactly IS Skuld accosting Mouse right now? Did she manage to get into the Indefatigable?
>>19217906Is he on the Indefatiguable? If not, don't send him over.
>>19217855Shiiiiiiiit.As much as I can remember of the series, Skuld is the youngest of the three goddesses. Despite being potentially as old as creation itself, she's still fairly immature and childish. She is very stand-offish, and seems to be better at working with machines than getting along with others.
>>19217906Reread my post.>>19217918Virtun is on his way. Skuld continues to advance on Mouse."Well! What are you doing sneaking around TC's files like that?! And what's up with this ship?! Are you some sort of creepy space-stalker?!" Skuld demands. Mouse takes a step back."Hey now, little miss, I just-" he begins."WHO ARE YOU CALLING LITTLE?!" Skuld roars. Mouse grimaces."Come on!" he pleads. "If I called you 'Big Miss', you'd say I was calling you fat!""ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT?!" Skuld shouts, her face growing red."Oh, for the love of..."
>>19218009So: how to deal with this without potentially alerting the other goddesses to our presence and/or tipping off the SUEs. Here are my ideas, feel free to tweak and/or shoot down:1.) We're space-travelers. Our home-world and all of our spaceships have been getting infested with strange rabbit-spider things, and they've been causing immense trouble for our civilization. We've been attempting to track the source of them without much success, until we discovered that the largest concentrations of these creatures were traced to this galaxy. We're just doing a routine analysis of the world's major figures to try and see if it would be wise to make contact or not... although we're not exactly sure if we're looking in the right places. Because of all the security surrounding this man, we assumed that he must be an important figure. (cont. in next post)
>>19218009Mouse?Are you even trying?Do you want her to hit you with that hammer?Because let me tell you, it probably won't just leave a comedic spherical lump (with a bandage-cross) on your head.Or whatever it is that normally happens.
>>19217956How immature and childish we talking here?
>>19218072Note: have "security" mean "security surrounding the files about this man". Also should we try have some Aurors handy to attempt to obliviate her? Not sure if the memory wipe would work so well on a divine being.>>19218116She's more or less the typical "brat" archetype present within anime.
>>19218009We should probably do something to ensure that Mouse doesn't get squashed. Prepare to erect a force field between Skuld and Mouse if she is preparing to smash him with the hammer. Get a transporter lock on Mouse and prepare to beam him out of there if things get too heated. In the mean-time, Mouse, use your UNIT training to talk her into a calmer state. You know, like how you're supposed to deal with people spooked out and possibly irrationally angry with sudden alien encounters Calm down, apologize sincerely and solemnly using neutral terms which don't comment on her age.
>>19218152Crap you're right. And her being a divine being would in theory mean she has high spell resistance?
>>19218189And don't do the thing where you put one hand behind your head and laugh nervously.
>>19218152How naive is she?Naive to believe that we work for some secret pan-government organization, and are investigating whatshisname to later recruit him and his allies to take down the neo-Nazi jackass?
>>19218213I haven't watched or read enough of the series to comment on her suggestibility. But she seems to be a bit distrustful by nature, seeing as how she reacted to Keichi in the series.Flesh out your suggestion about our cover a little bit more. It might be the only thing that will keep us from confronting the SUEs head-on (i.e. suicide)
rolled 63 = 63>>19218206Mouse immediately lowers his hand from the back of his head. "I didn't even realize it was going there...">>19218189"Look, miss, we got off on the wrong foot and I'm sorry for that, OK? If you'll just calm down and put the hammer down, we can figure-""I AM calm!" Skuld insists, waving her hammer menacingly. "I just want to know why you're sneaking around our friend!""I, uh, just wondered why all that security was there?" Mouse gets out. "I didn't even know he was a friend of yours, I kinda thought something was up for a normal mail account to have such incredible network security..."Virtun is almost there.
>>19218305"Well, my security IS pretty awesome," Skuld admits, lowering the hammer slightly."I just wondered who could warrant such protection, I thought it must be someone of importance. You see, we're trying to figure out who to talk to here..." Mouse begins. "Uh, you already guessed we're not from around here, right?""Well, DUH!" Skuld snorts."Right... well, we're trying to decide who to contact-""About what?" Skuld asks.
>>19218332So when do they fuck?
>>19218332Hmm. Should we say something about the Yggdrasil bugs? Or mention something about Chaos (i.e. large horrific superhuman armored men wielding large chainsaw-sticks and impossibly large guns)?
>>19218332Some nobody named Trevor has quickly become a demagogue and swept the nation of Germany by storm.I'm not sure how informed you are as to human history, but the precedence is not at all good.To make matters worse, we have photographic proof that he's got friends in low places, if you know what I mean.As Trevor is currently visiting Japan, our organization is looking to recruit 'TC' to take Trevor down, before this gets any uglier.
>>19218368And maybe about interdimensional warping. Also we should scan her for sue distortion.
>>19218386But that's not all we want him for.It seems that there's a bit of a... pest control problem on a global scale, as well as some... uninvited guests from what looks to be a very bad neighborhood.Seeing as you folks upstairs are clearly occupied with something of obviously pressing importance, we wanted TC and his three rivals to work together before things escalate out of control.
Possible Outcomes of subject topics:Yggdrasil bugs on galactic scale: Goddesses get involved. Probably a bad thing, since they're being influenced by SUEs, given what Skuld has said.Chaos problems: May cause Trevor and the Elemental Knights to put aside their differences and try to "aid" us. VERY BAD.Trevor Problems: SUEs will be aware of us if Skuld lets the others know (bad). Best case scenario: Skuld will just shrug and say that her friends have it all under control. If we lay it on heavy that letting everyone know about our presence will FREAK ALL OF THE WORLD OUT and violate Prime Directives and such, then she may keep quiet about us.
rolled 88 = 88>>19218346"Why don't you have a seat?" Meta-Chris Hansen says, appearing suddenly. "Just have a seat, right over there.">>19218332"We're looking for allies," Virtun says, finally arriving. He mends the broken water pipe with a spell in passing as he approaches Mouse and Skuld. "There is a man named Trevor who has made pacts with beings beyond him. With their infernal assistance, he seeks to take control of Germany through its military, and from then... Well. Just look to history. We heard murmurs of people with the power to oppose him despite his new allies, and sought to find them. Is this 'TC' such a person? Could he aid our quest against evil?"
>>19218457Nah see, if we let them think we're on the same side, that allows us plentiful opportunity to backstab them down.We can even capture them with magic, if we use our cunning. And assuming that they're as stupid as I hope they are.
>>19218459"Oh, of COURSE TC can help! He's a Goddess Knight!" Skuld nods. She waves her hammer at Virtun, imperiously. "So don't try anything funny! But he and his brothers Koh and Rei have been fighting demons for a while now. If they're up to something, leave it to them! They'll save you in no time! Just tell me the details, and I'll get them on the scene!"Someone runs a discreet sweep. Skuld is clean of reality distortions, though it seems she is being affected by a few that are embedded into the world.
>>19218459Meta-Hansen? Oh god. Oh dear god.He has to have the entire TSAB trying to get rid of him, and he's strong enough to survive that?
>>19218521Abandoned warehouse time?
>>19218521Can you tell us about these three brothers? They sound quite strong and impressive."Even if its biased info, its still free info. And look, if Skuld plays dream hunk, she won't get suspicious of us.
>>19218521See if we can maneuver her into reality field to see if that breaks the influence. (if this works then we have a great way to get some allies)Ask if these brother are people of discretion, as in can they keep us a secret? (this is just make talk)
>>19218521Hold on a second your highness. The reason we... investigated TC in the first place was because we wanted to know more about him.But if he's a goddess knight, that would make you his patron correct?Could you tell us about him, and his brothers for that matter?
>>19218568"Well first there's TC, who is a pretty cool guy, I guess, despite trying to steal my sister away," Skuld says. "He's the Knight of Fire, and can wield a magical sword he uses to destroy the evil in people's hearts. Once he even purified Mara with it! Er, but they fixed her once Hild captured her. Then there's his younger brother Rei. He's my age, and likes machines and robots, but he's not NEARLY the genius I am! He knows way more than Sentaro did, though... Still, he's my knight, so he has to protect me. But I usually end up protecting him... uh, because I have to, you know. It's not like I want to, or anything. Oh yeah, he used the Water element, like I do. Then there's Koh, TC's older brother..." Skuld winces. "He's... missing. Along with Urd, his patroness."
>>19218521>place and timeWe can use this to set up an ambush... but they'll be in ATTACK MODE and expecting trouble. Head-on encounters with SUEs are not a good idea.Since we're going along with the investigating potential allies and such, we could simply say that we do not know where Trevor is. And other than what we've told her already, we don't know very much about him.If Skuld presses us, we can say that as we said before, we were looking for allies and trying to find information about Trevor. Such as where he'll be, what his abilities are, what is the exact nature of the demonic powers he seeks to control, etc. etc. If we knew these things, we could provide assistance. But at the moment, all we know could fill a mouse's teacup, and we need time to discover these things. Also, ask her about TC and his brothers. Also ask her about what a Goddess Knight exactly is.
>>19218643Thats four plus trevor, if I remember right there where five sues. Who's the last one?
>>19218677Some jerk who's part Saiyan?
>>19218689I thought that was trevor?
>>19218643The Goddess Urd is missing? That is... very very bad.Is there anything you could tell us about the circumstances of her disappearance?
>>19218677Actually there are supposed to be six SUEs total. The four Elemental Nightsthe quarter-saiyan with 40k stuffand Trevor.
>>19218720"She was kidnapped by demons! I'm sure of it!" Skuld bursts out. "They're gearing up for all out war, and are starting to break all the treaties!"
>>19218643Pardon my confusion, but my reports indicated there were four goddess knights, one for each of the classical elements?Am I mistaken?
>>19218760"Well... I guess there's Tom, too... But he's Peorth's knight and kinda weird, so we don't talk to him as much as we do each other."
>>19218760So this TC is the Knight of Fire, his brothers are other Knights of other elements. That's three of the classical four elements: Fire, Water, and either Earth or Wind. Would we be wrong in thinking that there's another Knight of Earth or Wind, in addition to the brothers?
>>19218823Is there a fifth warrior as well?Kind of a violent hothead, and antagonizes the knights?
>>19218845"How'd you know about Brett? He always fights with our Knights over who is more suited to protect us and stuff. It's like one of those old anime shows or something! Yeah, I guess he might help too, but we don't need him. He's always fighting the wierd monsters coming out of portals anyway."
Demons gearing up for war? The Oh My Goddess setting always gave a bit of a vibe that the demons, though opposed to the Almighty, didn't really seem intent on the whole classical Good vs. Evil conflict. The whole affair seemed very businesslike and even a bit friendly, if anything. Although I haven't read very much of the series, so that may have been a plot point later on.This might mean several things:-There might be Chaos influencing key figures in the demons' ranks. While there's only sporadic crossovers between the WH40K-verse, this might be just enough to give the Chaos gods a way of influencing this canon.-The SUEs' presence is distorting reality, and the demons seek to capitalize on this.Skuld may also be overreacting at the disappearance of her sister.>>19218756Politely ask Skuld to elaborate on what she means. Is she referring to what Trevor is doing in Germany, or something else entirely?
>>19218894I have a hunch that I know where Urd is.And it doesn't have anything to do with Demons. It's Chaos. New Chaos to be specific.
>>19218894"The demons have started to attack goddesses and gods!" Skuld says. "The doublet system is being nullified somehow!!!"
>>19219017Alright, now what?My plan is to arrange a meeting with the Knights, get a first hand look at them, give them a mostly made-up debriefing, and then ask each of them to split up at certain locations, under the guise of investigating Trevor, and to tell them to wait for reinforcements. And then, when their guard is down, we nab them good.
>>19219077Gonna be a bit difficult simply because, if they have to split up, we have to split up too, if we plan to take all four at the same time.
>>19219121True, but I'm a bit afraid that they have some kind of lame 'elemental bond' which will alert them should a knight fall. Also my plan basically is, trick them into lowering their guard for a spell, which will pretty much place them in stasis for thirteen days, which should allow us to drop them off at HQ before it wears off.It seems more humane, plus we might get a bonus from Requisitions while it still exists.
>>19219172Actually speaking of magic, while Skuld's still here, can we send an Abjurer over and have him cast this spell?DisobedienceSorcerer/Wizard level 3Component: Vocal, Somatic, a scrap of tinCasting time: 1 standard actionRange: 25 feet + 5 feet per 2 levelsTarget: 1 creatureDuration: 1 hour per levelYou shield your subject against mind-controlling spells and abilities. Disobedience blocks any attempts to exercise mental control over the subject creature, including charm and compulsion effects that grant ongoing control over the subject, such as dominate person or a vampire’s dominate ability. The protection does not prevent such effects from targeting a subject affected by disobedience, but it suppresses the effect for the duration of the spell. If disobedience ends before the effect granting mental control does, the would-be controller is able to mentally command the target creature. In addition to protecting the subject, disobedience sends false information to the creature that is attempting to gain control of the subject. The would-be controller must succeed on a Will save or believe that its spell or ability has taken effect and that the target is now under its control. The spell’s subject becomes aware of commands issued by that creature and can choose to act however she pleases, disregarding the would-be controller’s orders or going along with them in a pretense of obedience.Might as well give it a try?
>>19219237Wait nevermind, looking at the wording it seems like maybe the spell only works as a preemptive measure?
I SHOULD be around at 8 tomorrow, so hopefully we can pick this up then. Hope you guys have a plan by then! Seeya!
Are we seriously going to attempt to capture 5 S.U.E.'s alive? 4 of which have control over Canon individuals that can knock our Task Force around like we're in a pinball machine? All evidence from past fights with S.U.E.'s shows that their mind control of Canon natives is unaffected by Reality Emitter fields, and it's only broken when they're dead.
>>19220596We could capture Trevor alive. It's very unlikely we'll be able to do anything but shoot the other ones.
Magic circle against evil breaks mind control. We should test to see if it works.
>>19222098The chances of that working seem to be incredibly low. We don't know what alignment the S.U.E.'s would show up as, and their method of creating thralls is not quite magic.
So, current priorities:1.) How do we get Skuld off this ship while not alerting everyone about our presence? We could use some excuse that letting everyone know about us before we're good and ready could possibly make the demons tip their hand early, resulting in worldwide destruction and possible execution and/or corruption of any hostages that they're holding (which Skuld believes to be Urd and the other SUE). 2.) Who could kidnap a Goddess and a SUE without causing much trouble? Someone had to outwit the SUE (not much trouble there) and/or subdue them both (a LOT of trouble there). It may also be possible that Urd resisted the mind control, being a goddess who creates concoctions and enchantments that deal with it all the time, and is trying to plan on how to release her sisters from the SUE's spell. Another possibility: Urd is the daughter of Hild, the reigning lady of Hell, and the opposing infernal deity to the Almighty. She also loves her daughter deeply, and seems to respect the pact that prevents outright war between Heaven and Hell. Urd's disappearance and the SUE's disappearance may be a result of a nearly omnipotent deity getting rather pissed at having her daughter manipulated by a pissant tresspasser, and abducting both of them in an attempt to break the SUE's hold over Urd. The demons gearing up for war may also be an attempt on Hild's part to try to overwhelm the SUEs and break their hold over the three Goddesses. Her power dwarfs that of the three Goddesses combined, so she has the force needed to overwhelm a lone SUE and capture Urd. But with the pact in place, she may not be able to directly act to kill the remaining SUEs, and is thus mobilizing her infernal legions to do the job.
>>192225191. Skuld seems to have bought the story that we're here to deal with Trevor and end his dabbling in powers he's not supposed to meddle with. Seeing as she comes from a Celestial Bureaucracy, we might be able to get away with saying that we're part of a Special Inter-Departmental Committee, clearance code WHITE BARON, and that we can't release more information unless she has TEAPOT clearance. Also that we'd really be in her debt if she'd keep this whole affair quiet, since we're technically not supposed to be bringing her into this investigation without the proper paperwork.2. It's possible, however unpleasant, that Urd and the S.U.E. associated with her have fallen through one of the WH40K portals and ended up in one of their Canons. If that's the case, we'll need to go in to rescue Urd, and terminate the S.U.E., before irreparable damage occurs to this Canon. As to finding Urd, we need to see if Tosh, Cheryl, and the Farseers can detect the goddesses passively. If they can, we can attempt to see if Urd is still within this Canon. It would be nice if we could get network access to the Yggdrassil system and simply go through Urd's logs to see where the system last had a fix on her location, but that's too much interaction with a Canon native to be considered safe.
MetaOP, a question about the Emergency Beam-Out Cortical Stack research: once completed, will we automatically have it in our replicator database and Creation Engine database? I've done the math, and 60 cortical stacks isn't going to cut it if we want to keep perma-deaths to an absolute minimum.
Regarding Urd.In the source fic for New Chaos (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4320933/1/The_Open_Door), a Daemon castaway accidentally Quantum Leaps Urd with him, and the two of them wind up in the Forgotten Realms.Where terrible things happen. And I do not like our chances of that not being true.
>>19224620Does the Open Door make any mention of the Necrons? How do they deal with the Tyranids?Because if the Imperium has been toppled in that Canon, then I don't think even the Reasonable Marines would have any qualms will helping the Necrons close off the Immaterium, or letting the Tyranids finish consuming the galaxy and preventing the Chaos Gods from acquiring the emotional energies they need.
>>19225056I'm afraid that won't be a valid tactic.Because the Necrons already closed the Immaterium.Sixty million years ago.And Chaos and the Emperor helped.
>>19225607That's THEIR version of the Necrons. We have others that we can access.
>>19226001I'm sorry, but it seems like you think making a race of omnicidal and nigh-indestructible robots even slightly aware of the meta is a good idea.Would you like to reconsider to a strategy that's not insane?
>>19223411What should we do if Skuld insists in being involved in our investigation or telling the Knights about us? At the very least, she will likely tell Belldandy about our presence sooner or later. Also, we should have a plan in place in case the /tg/ dice decides to have Skuld see through our clever disguise. There's also the question of how to deal with the SUEs. While the Avatar hinted that we may need to change our MO regarding them, we will still need to separate and disable them. We might have some success in using the Mirror of Truth to de-power them into regular people, since it appeared to work on the Sapph SUE with no roll needed to determine its success; however, we can only use the mirror on them one at a time. But whether we kill them or not, how might we go about separating the SUEs from each other, and how could we prevent each of their patron goddesses from interfering with this process?
>>19226519>>While the Avatar hinted that we may need to change our MOThis has been the third warning we've gotten. Something's up.
>>19226559True, first was the G-Man, then the Avatar, and then Philemon. And Philemon and the Avatar don't normally seem like people likely to side with the G-Man.
>>19226444I have no intention of allying with the Necrons. I simply want their technology.
>>19226789Looting Necron tech that I can get behind.
>>19226789We already have all the technology we need, and in fact we've had it since the beginning. When we recruited Dr. Egon Spengler.See if this is the same New Chaos I'm thinking of, and I'm pretty sure they are, they don't have access to the Warp the same way Old Chaos does.So their Daemons aren't made of the same stuff normal Daemons are.Instead, their Daemons are mostly made up of human souls.
>>19227300What, you think that remodulating the phaser arrays and cannons on the Indefatigable to operate at protonic frequencies and converting the Al'Kesh we have into Omega Traps will be enough?Perhaps using Aglaophotis-C gas grenades and missiles with gas warheads to release anti-demon gas straight into New Chaos ships?Upgrading all of our ships with Reality Disruptor Banks to turn their own magic and Warp sorcery against them?It may be enough, it may not. I'd rather be over-prepared than under-prepared.
>>19226559Grimm also outright stated that "canon" was a lie. While we could interpret this as our enemy trolling us with a vague Portal reference, the Avatar hinted that maintaining canon may not be the entirely correct way of going about things either... or that it wasn't the most moral thing to do. While the reality distortions caused by SUEs are very much a bad thing, when you think about it, SUEs are essentially either absurdly powerful children or absurdly powerful rejects. The children just want to be The Bestest Hero Ever, while the rejects either want acceptance or respect. Perhaps dealing with the SUEs on a case-by-case basis is needed. The neo-nazis and hedonists will probably still need to be beaten to a pulp, but the teenagers/kids who just want to re-enact DBZ vs. Godzilla vs. Star Wars might require a gentler touch. As to whether maintaining universal canon is correct or not, that's a bit of a trickier question. To change things so that everyone in the canon is happy seems to be too simple of an answer to this riddle; it might be that the Transspace Guard tried doing this and have spawned many many reality distortions/SUEs for their efforts. Although unless we can know more about the nature of reality distortions without getting our shit kicked in by Black Ops, all we can do is guess at this point.
>>19227399I suppose. But I'm not sure about Necron weaponry. Like the whole purpose of the Angels (and thus, the Evangelions moreso) is to be anti-C'tan and thus, anti-Necron weaponry.New Chaos's whole purpose for existing is to eradicate the C'tan from their universe. You'd think they would already have countermeasures for whatever Necron tech we can afford.
>>19227411The problem is that the SUEs literally destabilize reality just by existing don't they?Like I'm sure that most of them, regardless of being poorly designed, aren't evil, just... kind of childish. But with the exception of that Mirror, we don't know how to stop them from ruining everything.
>>19227483Like these Elemental Knights, I'm pretty sure they aren't evil and don't want to destroy this world. But unless we don't stop them, they will by accident.
>>19227449Maybe their offensive and defensive weaponry, but I'm more interested in their unblockable phase-out technology as a means of attack and defense. Their auto-repair Living Metal is nice but we already have the Creation Engine's nano-repair modules as acceptable substitutes. >>19227411>>19227411
>>19227411Grimm might have been talking about how he realized that the Transpace Guard itself is nothing more than another Canon, just another RPG setting and that our attempts to preserve the Canon are doomed to failure. If we really need to see that not following Canon is bad, then we can check the TG Archives for cases from when te BPI first began going into the Meta, and what happened when we tried to interfere with the proper narration of a story. Maybe it's true that we could cut back on the 'purge the S.U.E.' a little, but even te TSAB admits that not even most of them can be reformed.
>>19227603If it isn't for that pesky civil war that's going to happen, you'd think one day the research branch of the Transpace Guard would come up with a cure for SUEdom.Ah well.
>>19227714That's actually our job. Research Item: SUE-CureIt's been there ever since we finished the SUErum Project.
>>19227733Huh.You'd think we would have made that a priority.
>>19227747I mean as it stands, we're probably going to have to murder five people, and only one of them seems close to deserving it.
>>19227747No one seems to pay attention to our research list except me. I mean, most people probably forgot that synthetic E-115 is on our research list, as is a refit package for all power armor to have regenerative force fields and anti-gravity modules, or putting deflector shields on all of our vehicles.
>>19227910Yeah that's my bad. It's just that it usually takes a couple missions to complete, and I somehow forget about it by then.
>>19227747Preserving the lives of our subordinates is a higher priority. There's also the Mass Production Transpace Lance of Longinus project that is going to be done once our S2 Organ research is complete. There's still synthetic elerium research, power armor-scale force fields, replicating Mobile Emitters, the Aglaophotis research, the anti-ship Reality Distortion mines, The Psi Shield so that we don't have Meta-entities getting into our heads all the time, and there's supposedly another level of Offensive Reality Emitter weaponry to research once the pre-requisites are completed.
Source of Goddess Knights identified.Read at your own peril.http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1489232/5/Oh_My_Goddess_Knight
>>19229399>San lost.Out of sanity. So. . . I hear Khorne's hiring.
>>19229457I'm trying to skim through it as much as possible and get only the important details, but still it burns! This isn't a piece of writing, it's practically a fucking chatroom log!
>>19229619The Avatar said that maybe we should reconsider our methodology, and Agrias was uncomfortable with our willingness to do black ops kinds of dirty work. They have a valid point. But I think it's important that they also see where we're coming from, too.Tosh has been inside the minds of S.U.E.'s before. He should show them what lurks within those pseudo-constructs. They should read the source material that S.U.E.'s are created from, the fanfics that generate these abominations.Maybe it's true that some S.U.E.'s can be rehabilitated, reformed to better serve society, as the TSAB says is possible. But most of the time, they can only be put down like rabid dogs, as the TSAB's own rates of recidivism among their S.U.E. population shows.
>>19229619You gotta love how the main character is an exact copy of Keichi and "loosely based on the author."http://therafimrpg.wikidot.com/wages-of-sin The one Tom's from. TFW found it in Steam chat.http://steamcommunity.com/groups/metaquest for those who don't know.
>>19229699I believe you meanhttp://www.fanfiction.net/s/1696359/1/Sands_of_TimeInstead of that spell. And could someone explain to me what happened in this fic I'm posting? There are some serious time shenanigans going on at the hands of an author not qualified to use them.
>>19229682I don't think Agrias cared about the SUEs so much as the 'tolerate great evil' part.Like how we have to let all these villains do terrible things even though we have the power to stop them, because those terrible things are Canon.
>>19229734yep, sorry. Looks like my ctrl-c didn't work right.
>>19229747As I said earlier, then we should look up in the TG Archives what happens when you try to 'fix' a Canon.I'm sure that in the early days of the BPI, people tried to prevent tragedies from happening, and the results of those attempts on the fabric of reality. And now that we have a Meta Comm Array, we can have A.N.O.N. make the appropriate inquiries to the TG Archive.
I'm going to try to see if I can find Trevor and Brett.Although I fear what I will find.
>>19229399Good grief. Ending this is a moral imperative now.Suggestion: Skuld LOVES to build stuff for almost any task imaginable. Tell her we're a debugging team the Almighty contracted to help with the new kind of "bug" popping up.Namely, the reality distortions. Showing her the common signature bond between her usual bunny-bugs and the other reality distortions might well mean we have a very, very good in on fixing all this.Bonus note: Skuld is very fond of self-aware machines. Data would likely be excellent diplomacy here, though Skuld IS a mite excitable...
>>19229891Bonus note 2: Implying that the Knights have been distorted by Hell to leave them vulnerable and "cleansing the curse" of the reality distortion will leave them better for it may also help. You only hurt the ones you "love"...though after the distortion's cleared, the hurting may come from a debugging hammer...
>>19229828No dice, they pulled those fics down a few months ago. Ticked me off because I needed to look through them again for notes one last time. Not a big surprise I guess... They were old. OLD. I encountered them back in 2004.Oh, and I'm back. Boss kept me late again.
>>19230020Ah well, I suppose it's for the best. Can I ask ANON what the fuck happened with http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1696359/1/Sands_of_Time ?Like I know this Tom guy somehow erases himself from Yggrasil, but after chapter four I don't know when anything is happening in relation to anything else.
I personally want there to be a fight with them. Simply because the "Knight of Fire" will undoubtably brag about his fire powers and sword of fire that cleaves through all evil. Then he'll attack...And get totally denied by Ringil. "Bitch, please. I'm the original Sword that cleaves Evil, and I'm an Ice Blade."
>>19230095Engaging a shounen-type hero in direct combat is never a good idea.Even if that would be awesome, I'm afraid of the power of their bullshit.
MetaOp, are you going to make a new thread? this one is at 297 posts. Also, this may be taunting them, but four elder elementals, one of each element just so they split up to fight them. Then we pick them off. I know I was saying we should possibly do this more "nicely" but I read the Goddess Knight fanfiction. They must die.
>>19229619>cont.Alright, so here's what I can piece together from that anime-obsessed chatlog:Urd is missing because the author never finished the story up to that point. It seems that she was abducted off-screen and never shows up in the story. There are two original content demons in there that were created as antagonists. They were introduced and quickly killed off by the protagonists in the last chapter.Keiichi appears to have cut off the contract with Belldandy for no good raisin, citing "I can't keep you here like this anymore".
>>19230131Yes, but not quite yet.>>19223598Yes, but don't expect to make them quickly and cheaply.
So I suppose the first goal is 'do magic to Skuld to see if we can break the glamor'?
>>19230269As a note, we should cast http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/suppres-charms-and-compulsions instead of Magic Circle."charms and compulsions in effect on the targets are suppressed for the duration of the spell." So, if it works, she's free for 10 minutes
>>19230301We might be able to disguise it as Virtun attempting to cast two spells on Mouse for whatever reason, but Mouse chickens out after the first cast and attempts to dodge Virtun's aim. Which conveniently hits Skuld as Mouse mock-frantically tries to get out of the way.But keep in mind that as young as Skuld is, she still is a Goddess. She's not as magically adept as her other two sisters, but she'll probably know an offensive spell when she sees one.
>>19230301I'm not sure, would >>19219237 work as well?
>>19230337It's a good thing that that's not an offensive spell then?
>>19229682The TSAB has _never_ said anything about recidivism in the past quest threads.
>>19230337It's not offensive. It's a "spell to protect her from demons"It's mostly used to get your friends back on your side when they've been enchanched.>>19230358Could work. "Creatures within the area of disobedience are immune spells of 7th level or lower that force the target to act against their will (such as command or command undead) or spell-like and supernatural abilities from creatures with less than 15HD."
>>19230378Wait, different version of the spell. Version that was posted should work too.
rolled 35 = 35So you're going to try and cast those two spells on Skuld?"By all means, we should spread the news to your allies, but here. I am a magic wielder of no small means, even against terrible foes as you face. Allow me to grant you some small protection as you travel back..."
>>19230449Let's test out our new reroll ability.
rolled 77 = 77And I'll throw in the roll I forgot too.
>>19230449Er, before that, I think that the plan was to try to see if we could convince Skuld to go back without notifying anyone else first. I think. We did discuss it at length for a bit before going into the ramifications of what Philemon/G-man/Avatar said about how we operate as of now.We didn't really reach a consensus. But I am of the opinion that convincing her to keep these things on the down-low would be a good idea.
rolled 43 = 43>>19230494>>19230492"All right," Skuld nods. "I guess that makes sense, but it better not be anything nasty, or I'll whack you good!""Of course. Ah, but can you wait to tell them for a little while? We have our own preparations to make, and your Knights seem to be brave enough to charge in immediately, before we can properly help. The time we need will ensure their victory, and that nothing harms them.""Uh... OK? I guess?" Skuld frowns. "But I have to tell my sister, at least."
>>19230494I think first we need to see if we can break the control.Depending on the outcome, we might have to tell different lies.
>>19230449Protections from those nasty bugs that are popping up all over. http://www.suberic.net/~dmm/graphics/omg/circles.htmlSkuld should be quite familiar with the concept.
>>19230549Extra thought- reality emitter as "system stabilizers" vs. the Hell-bugs that are giving the trio fits. Skuld should eat that up. She may be a goddess, but she's a goddess that 1) loves teh SCIENCE! and 2) will fit right in our alley as "systems maintence contractors".
>>19230605We should also probably tell her were the bugs we found are. She'll deal with them then, it's her job.
>>19230533Virtun casts the spells, and Skuld blinks for a moment."OK. Can I go now?"The spell doesn't seem to have worked, but Skuld hasn't figured out you had ulterior motives either.
>>19230674Stay safe, Miss Skuld.
>>19230674Yes. We will do all that we can to gather information about Trevor, and figure out how the Knights can use that to their advantage. Farewell.
>>19230697>>19230753Skuld waves. "Right! Sayonara!"Then she uses her hammer to breach the sealed pipe again, and vanishes into the spray of water. Virtun mends it again after she's gone."I feel sorry for whoever has to clean all this up..." Virtun says with a frown. Mouse sighs."I'm just glad that's over with."
Alright. Possible reasons for Hell gearing up their armies:Urd is missing. Hild wants her daughter back. Being the current de facto ruler of Hell with no real rivals, she is marshalling her armies to find Urd even if it means warring with Heaven and tearing the universe apart.Reasons for Urd's disappearance:-Abducted by Chaos-Accidentally went into WH40k universe through rift. Hasn't found her way back.-May have been shifted into the Forgotten Realms canon.-Other**Forces that we don't know about right now are manipulating things behind the scenes. Pic possibly related but probably not and actually I hope to high heaven that this isn't the case?
>>19230867If anyone, wouldn't Lezard kidnap one of the combat goddess Valkyries, like Rind?
>>19230924Yeah, probably.Anyhow...What do we do now? We've learned the names of the Elemental Knights, as well as their other rival: Taiichi, Rei, and Koh Comasato, Brett, and Tom. Tom's patron goddess is Peorth, Taiichi's with Bell, Rei is with Skuld, and Koh is with the erstwhile missing Urd. TC is the Knight of Fire and Rei is the Knight of Water.Should we start seeing where Urd went off to? Or should we try to deal with Trevor and the other Knights first?
>>19231047I'd say deal with the SUEs first and then see if Urd turns up.
>>19231129Trevor seems to be the least powerful of the SUEs, but it might be tricky to separate him from Mara/Marller. He may also have protection on the part of the German military. But without his demonic allies and liberal application of reality emitters, he appears to be as vulnerable as any regular person would. We don't know how powerful the Knights are, but we'd be better off separating them and dealing with them individually. But how do we do this without getting the goddesses involved?
Well, if nobody else is suggesting anything, we might as well start finding out information about Trevor. As we found out earlier, he appears to be on a buisness trip to a town called "Nekomi". If he's in charge of the German military, there's no way he can travel to Japan without making some waves. Try to see if there are any hotel records of a "Trevor" staying at any of the upscale places there, credit card purchases, etc. See if there are any more staff staying with him other than Mara.In the meantime, we may as well try to see if the universe has anything to say to us. Have Tosh try to very carefully seek out any spirits that would actively talk to us. The goddesses are interconnected with the universe, but there are undoubtedly spirits who do not associate with the Almighty's bureaucracy.
>>19231434Nekomi is the fictional Japanese town in which Ah! My Goddess takes place. So that's where all the SUEs are.
>>19231434(cont).Also, ask the Farseers if there's any form of skein-reading that they can do that won't tip off any divine agency. We're dealing with a divine agency here that may specialize in manipulating such things. We don't want them to know that there's someone else who can pluck at the strings of fate as they can.Feel free to add on more suggestions, guys.
Also, ask the Aurors how long it would take to ward our ships from evil using the "Protego Horribliis" spell. We saw straight away that the goddesses can waltz straight into our starships whenever they want; we don't need any demons or such doing the same thing.
Also to consider: are we going to attempt to de-power the SUEs and detain them, or are we going to do the usual thing and kill them off?
>>19231761Well for detaining them, I think our Aurors should still cast this spellSMOKYCONFINEMENTTransmutationLevel: Sorcerer/wizard 6Components: V, S, FCasting Time: 1 standard actionRange: TouchTarget: Creature touchedDuration: InstantaneousSaving Throw: FortitudenegatesSpell Resistance: YesAt your touch, your foe dissipates into a thick smoke, which flows smoothly into the receptacle you have prepared. You transform the subject into smoke or gas, which is then stored inside the focus. The subject remains trapped within the focus, unaware and ageless. If the focus is everbroken or opened, the victim resumes his normal form in the same space as the focus.Focus: A tiny receptacle, such as a bottle or vase, of crystal or a similar material worth at least 100 gp. The receptacle must be able to be sealed. But it might be too risky.
rolled 78 = 78>>19231434>>19231478>>19231580The Aurors are not sure, and the Farseers state that anything they do risks detection, though thanks to the connection to the WH40Kverse, their powers are at full strength.
>>19231869I'm comfortable risking it.How about you guys?
>>19231819The Aurors don't know how to cast D&D spells, the last I checked, and I don't think we have had enough time for them to learn how to do so. Our only D&D casters are our cleric, Virtun, and our Abjurer team.As for the Farseers, sure. We need to know more about what's going on.Do you guys think that we should also deploy two or so Observers to the Nekomi city to see if they can detect anything odd going on?
I'd just like to state that in The Open Door, it's SKULD that gets sucked into the Forgotten Realms, not Urd.
