"To the Concerned:
If you've found this journal, either on my person or in some shop somewhere, then it is highly possible I am dead, captured, or worse. My name is--was--Julian Paisley, and I was a Mobile Artilleryman in the Hellghast Armored Unit of the Ragnyllian Army. I am writing this currently en route to a high-value Voss target, the dreaded Black Fortress. I've heard reports that our train's reactor's starting to overload; it's only a matter of time now. I am currently sitting out, with my squadmates, Private Tyreese Womack and Private Genevieve Hadley, awaiting for the next bout of action. We're almost out of cigarettes, and we're tired as unholy hell. Spirits, however, have remained somewhat optimistic; Hadley was just finishing teaching me the Crescent Bay Academy's anthem. Wonderful voice, that girl.
"The day of our reckoning has come. I just hope the Goddess looks happily on us"
"If you're allied to Ragnyll, please, I beg you--get this to my sister, Julia. The people--they need to know. They need to know what happened here, what we did here. There's so many of us, here, now--Major Gunther, Corporal Armitage, Sergeant Vahn, Captain Isane, the privates and conscripts whose names pass by as quickly as they do. I know that this is just something small, but I've tried. I've tried to write down this unit's history, keep up with it, from when I joined in Kolstec to right now. So many names, so many faces, so many lives, so much blood--I can't shake the magnitude of what we're doing right now--for us, for the fallen, for all of Ragnyll.
"I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared. This is us, all of us on this damned train, new and old alike, riding right into the eye of the storm, ready to shout defiance in the face of some horrific sin against all of nature and reason.
"Remember us. Remember Hellghast."
