    You never asked for this.

Fortunately, Arthur Sans is not an unreasonable man, and he at least tried to match the magical resonance of the prosthetics to your own. Not that you fully understand the thaumaturgical nuts and bolts of the augmentation process - you just handled security. That was your job.

But now... well, that's all down to how you'd expect your personality profile to look.

"Ann. Ann, can you hear me?"
Arthur's voice. A little... odd. Crisp and clear, but still.
"Ann? Open your eyes if you can, but don't move too much."

You feel so... strange. Your arms and legs seem not quite numb, but a little off. You're in a bed, you can at least tell. And you feel awfully warm.

Your throat feels a little sore, but you think you can talk. On opening your eyes, you're greeted by a bright light that occludes everything else - briefly. It's not so bright in here after all. You can feel your eyes adjust with a shocking level of sensitivity, and the moment you realise this your vision blurs again. A headache arrives like a freight train.
"Ann? Stay calm, your mind needs to adjust to the augs."

Your horns are still there, thank goodness.
Your limbs are... well, you have to admire the craftsman ship. You're clumsy with them, but you can feel the strength. They're beautifully wrought of brass with garnet nodes. That explains the heat - you know enough about magic to know the work of a Conflagrant. You didn't know Sans Arcanists employed any fire-mages, but there you go. Both arms, both legs... at least they kept you hooved.

Arthur is looking at you with a mix of concern and excitement, bonework right arm raised as if you sit on your shoulder and steady you. He's handsome, in a slightly-graying human way. And Necromancers are sexy anyway. Something about being artists...

"How long was I out?" She asks, as she continues to wiggle her finger, watching as the light plays along the edge of her filigreed fingers.

He laughs. You can tell he can't help it.
"Oh, oh man... Don't worry, you should be able to drink people under the table just the same. Not all the augs are visible."

As you try to rise, he reaches out with delicate, ticking bonework arm and offers a steadying hand. "You've been out for around thirty hours - had to keep you sedated while I had some of the augs custom forged for you. Surgery must've taken a good twelve hours, at least."
Huh. He is wearing scrubs over his immaculate three-piece suit - you can see a black silk cravat peeking over the collar. Bloody scrubs, at that.

The cool tiles are strange under your new hooves, but you can feel yourself adjusting to the augmentations. You're dimly aware of other features built in...

Also, Ann sighs, rubbing her brow with her hands, the warmth of the metal a little shock.

Mercifully, you're wearing a hospital gown.

"Hey, sit down, ok? I want some more diagnostics run before you try moving too much." He settles into a plastic visitors chair.

"The countermeasures team were actually a research crew - working on ways of dealing with magical interference. Thanks to them, only a Conduit can actually affect your augs - there's a micro-weave of Nulled copper in there."
He shakes his head. "Sorry, I digress. They stole nothing, to my surprise - just killed and burned. That's why we had to go in and aug your lungs - the fire wrecked them."

He frowns, trying to recall. "Rose Triss? Rings no bells with me, but I'll admit I don't know everyone on staff. What did she do?"

"Anyway. Well. Still, this sounds worse and worse by the moment. How many attackers were there?"

He seems taken aback, silent for a moment.
"Ann... do you really not remember? You're not just head of security here - we go back years, you and I. Don't you remember, back when this was all a pipe-dream and you gave me this for trying to kiss you?" He holds up the bonework arm, in illustration.
"No one kidnapped, just killed. Almost you, too. I'll want to keep you in here at least a month - we're in the Sans Arcanist's medical facility downtown from the main offices."

"Sorry about that." I say, clasping and unclasping my mechanical fingers and shaking my head. "I just... lapsed on some stuff for a second. It's coming back now that you've mentioned it. Must've gotten a pretty bad concussion back there. It's a miracle my horns didn't chip."

Ann chuckles, before wincing. "Ow, hurts to laugh."

"So, a month? Well considering that I should be dead, that's alright with me. Get me time to get a handle on the augs while the leads are shaken down."
