I believe he stated that these designs are final because constantly changing them every time someone doesn't like something is an untenable prospect.
    >> Anonymous 09/07/11(Wed)11:30 No.16214440
Not like there's anything wrong with that, either. No-one else was doing it.

/v/ gets like four or five times the threads on it we do though, and 90% of the game devs are from /v/. Not sure why this is considered a /tg/ game.
    >> Anonymous 09/07/11(Wed)11:30 No.16214443
I believe he meant that starting a new thread for something just because the old one hasn't been going for a while is a /v/ thing to do, not that BroQuest is /v/.

Now I have some quick cleaning to do, but before I go I'd like to make a comment on the catgirl.

Namely that nobody is EVER going to be fully satisfied with her. Heck, I don't think most people liked her even back in the beginning. She's had a rather sordid history.

Does that mean she'll never change again? Not necessarily. You'll notice on the Vixen's page that some technical issues were cleared up. But for right now, we can't afford to focus on the small stuff when we've still got such a long way to go. We've moved on to character sprites, and will be producing some more portraits for Races and the protagonist.

    Alright. Idea for an NPC.

A Law-Enforcer/sheriff in some populated area... like a town, or city. Has a horrendous napoleon-complex, and a really big gun/sword/weapon that clearly indicates he's compensating for something.

Hates horses. Horses are evil. And believes writing steals the words out of his head.

I prefer the pink. As another poster said above, she's a bit of a girly-girl so pink suits her character and also the style of dress that she's wearing (cheongsams often have shiny silk colours). It gives off femininity without the low-cut neckline that was such a Grave Offence Beyond The Pale for some people, while the exposed thigh still allows for a little of the original suggestiveness, so it seems to be a decent enough balance.

He was supposed to be a 'master of disguise', and you gave him Gems and he'd reward you. If you found them all, then his 'dark secret' reward (all the gems) was that he was actually a boss from an older game called 'Soulblazer'.

What about a similar NPC who is in every town/dungeon/castle/etc., but uses a different sprite/graphic in each location to appear as just another townsfolk, guard, or potted plant?

note: her tail is probably the same color as her actual body hair. So unless she's dying it, pink. Just fyi.
The one on the right's cute, looks like a good design for an NPC countryman.

And I realize it's a tough consideration, but gloves or no gloves: decide. Either she's got Felicia-esque 'fur gloves' or she's just got bare hands/paws. Trying to split the point with fingerless gloves or thin gloves doesn't work. I actually think the Fighting Claws are a pretty decent equipment option that emphasize her foreign nature and allow for standard RPG upgrades/variants (Katars, Spurs, Gauntlets), etc etc and she's got whatever her racially normal hands/paws are like underneath. This also makes her attacks somewhat easier to view as they then have an object for the viewer to centralize on.

Your complaint essentially is that they're not used well. What you're disliking isn't related to Pathfinder's portrayal, it's related to a DM's (erroneous) interpretation of them. It's roughly akin to someone seeing "Chaotic Evil" and thinking "eats babies for the lulz".

What I'm disliking is completely related to Pathfinder's portrayal, namely that they made Goblin society far more unstable and inchoate. Goblins are dumb, superstitious and erratic now. You're making a false parallel, and another assumption.

    >A race doesn't need to be civilized and lawful to be a legitimate threat
Totally correct. It does need to be able to do something though, and gnolls and goblins literally do not build anything themselves and live only on scavenged wreckage. That's fucking inconsistent with being any kind of major threat.

Gnolls can dominate in the short term because they are powerful physically.

Goblins aren't. They kill dogs and horses and can be awed or frightened by magic, fire or writing. They *are* more folkloric, just like Bugbears are. It's a change, and some people like that. I don't, particularly, or at least I don't like so much of it and the cost ti comes at.

So no, Huns and Mongols weren't joke races. They weren't nearly so incompetent as Goblins and Gnolls either.

    Fa/tg/uys do this everywhere.

When there's someone that doesn't frequent 4chan in a group, most are friendly and open with them without going into detail about why everyone seems to coordinate without obvious methods of communication. Amongst each other, they talk about how the non-4chan people cause problems and eventually decide to get them out of the group for a number of contrived reasons.

When they've whittled their numbers down, they start being friendly and open with the people that don't hang around /tg/ as a habit. Off to the side, they join Steam groups or use some other outside media to talk about the non-fa/tg/uys and eventually decide to get rid of them.

When it's just fa/tg/uys, they talk about the fa/tg/uys that were opposed to removing the people that were non-fa/tg/uys. They mock them in friendly ways and people stop taking them seriously, their opinions on matters discarded out of hand. If at all possible, they get them taken out of positions of influence and replace them with people that went along with the crowd. If they weren't in positions of influence, the targets usually drift away on their own because no one will listen to them about anything.

I don't know why, but it always pans out this way. Theories abound.

    Is that so.
Might have been able to get in on the coding part if had gotten aware of this project earlier on.
But it might be best for the "soup" to not blend in too many programmers into the "kitchen", at least, depending on things.
I also have no experience with XNA as a development environment, even though I have heard its good/decent about it.

So no need to get in on a project where I might perhaps not be needed, and where I need to correct myself after an already established standard, especially if the group have good synergy between eachother already. Then it would be unnecessary to add another factor.

Though for an unrelated question. Will there be any kind of erotic content in the final product, or does the current flavour text of the characters just have an abundance of -tease- in them?
Would personally be fine with either way, don't care much about that and things can be fine either way.

This is /tg/. We embrace everything we remotely like, regardless of whether or not there will ever be a finished product. Bro-Quest, Minecraft, Blockade Runner... Hell, look at all the quest-threads that pop up, and how few actually reach a definite closure. Even if there's not a line of coding finished, Bro-Quest will still be something /tg/ (in general) will love and incorporate into itself with semi-routine 'It's that time again! The monk's power should be entirely related to the type of alcohol you are able to get your hands on. You use it, then its puts him at a certain strength/hit/dmg+possible status inflict setup for x amount of turns. As such, there should be NPCs that you buy said alcohol. Obviously, the drink the monk should be much more powerful than any normal being can ingest, so the vendor should be a specific brewer who basicly experiments on the monk.

These are both awesome pics and not bad character designs. Not all of the catgirl designs are great, but these two are good. I actually prefer the color scheme and design of the black haired woman better but her posture and pose are not very convincing as a character, whereas even while less dynamic and more static looking in pose, the pink woman has the hand thing suggesting a combat ability and is just not looking as silly as the harmless looking blackhaired woman in her catscratch type pose.

I think you should stick to one of these two designs and just redraw the pink one in a more active pose or the black one with something suggestive of magic or weaponry like the pink one has.

I like the pink color, actually. Most of the characters are rather subdued, color-wise, and the shocking pink grabs your attention. I think the eyes are good and are very suggestive of the bright-eyed persona she's supposed to have, and the shape is reminiscent of cat's eyes as well, without being too strongly bestial.
