Little things, petty things, bits of magical talent, like summoning butterflies, or finding pretty trinkets, or making flowers bloom. Harmless and fragile magic.
Interesting magic, real tricks and talents: seeing spirits; talking to ghosts; little protections or tiny hurts; minor, largely harmless curses. Innate talent more than overt spellcasting.
Real magic: true spells, altering reality in a larger way; ritual magic that works, making wards or entering the spirit world; dangerous magical attacks and potent defenses; seen and be seen by spirits and trading gifts and favors with them.
Scarey levels of magic. Major curses; killing spells; summoning demons and fell spirits and binding them. most magic at this level becomes an act of will again, but now you are a real threat, unlike with Ki level magic. Now you can heal and harm and alter in a permanent fashion.
You are a force to be reckoned with. Your corruption is nearly complete, and your purity almost gone. You are forced to live more as a spirit or phantom than as a real person. It is almost impossible for you to interact normally with humankind without immense effort. Your will is a thing of fearsome, horrifying potentials, but at the same time, every summoning, every spell you cast brings great risk, for there is much that will come for you and take you away.
-A Bad Thing
You are now a youkai, bakemono, or other unearthly being yourself, and have become a monster or ghost. You are an NPC, and can never interact with humanity again - at least, not normal humanity.
