For a brief moment your men look to be in total disarray from the surprise assault, though within even less time than they spent surprised they fall into formations and begin to fight back. Looking about you are relieved to see the South and West walls both clear, though the presence of the enemies aerial cavalry counterbalances that boon. All of your foes conventional troops are charging for the east wall, a covered ram and a pair of additional, conventional siege towers trailing behind the rush of soldiery. "what are your orders, Commander?" Sansa asks "We can break this siege here if we are lucky and the gods dont interfere."
    >> No Gods or Devils, Only Mortals 05/03/11(Tue)21:01 No.14803600
All combat elementalist teams to the North Wall to take care of those war-forms. Lena to get to a position where she can snipe those things.

All East Wall ballistae teams, target the siege towers and time on target.
Grenadiers to get their oil and grease ready.

"Fire all the caltrops. Ballistas, maximum shooting speed. Get half of the mercs on the south wall to the east wall. And get Collin over here. We are going to need him."

Also, should we deal with the plant monsters or the normal troops first? By the way, I'm the guy who suggested putting the fire runes on the ammo. I decided to namefag.

I need a better idea of the situation.

North wall: Two of the big nasties?

East wall: How many big nasties? Did the one in the tower stuck outside hatch? Did the one in the tower that was toasted by Laelith hatch?

What about the two on the East Wall? Are they just regular siege towers now?
    >> GoldPanda 05/03/11(Tue)21:13 No.14803724
Info from IRC: Green goo means both towers still on our wall also hatched.
    >> Maximus 05/03/11(Tue)21:14 No.14803730
Have to second this, however, we might want to try to lead a charge into those towers and kill the heart. As long as they live, in theory the enemy can keep pumping out these troops for free it seems. Taking out the towers that are coming is important though. We can't afford to give them even more access to our walls.
    >> No Gods or Devils, Only Mortals 05/03/11(Tue)21:17 No.14803769
Daeseu and Collin to the East Wall, since that's where the enemy is concentrating their main conventional forces. We need to destroy those towers.

Justinian, Laelith, and Sansa to also go over to the East Wall. We'll concentrate on the north living tower first.
    >> Maximus 05/03/11(Tue)21:18 No.14803788
Also, I think we should place ourselves on the northern part of the east wall this time. I think the south should be fine. Collin should be on the southern part of the wall to help them out and keep Laelith with us so she can help us clear the northern part and perhaps send her to the north wall to clear those living towers if we can get this under control. Sansa can stick with us for now as well.

Also, I suppose we should have our manogels and such target the incoming ram.
    >> GoldPanda 05/03/11(Tue)21:19 No.14803793
Troops on south and west walls should hold, in case the Uurlanthi try anything funny. They should move to plug in any major gaps that show up in our lines on the north and east walls.

Collin and Lena/Bellatrix should move to the north wall to assist. Use the auto-wagons or borrow a horse if it helps.

Laelith and Sansa with us on the east wall.
    >> GoldPanda 05/03/11(Tue)21:22 No.14803833
I'm really worried about the north wall at this point. I think we should at least send Lena/Bellatrix there to counter the big monster things.

Pax, are the towers still magical at this point? I'm under the impression that the enemy life elementalists "merged" to form the big monsters?
    >> Maximus 05/03/11(Tue)21:23 No.14803848
Well in the first post I seconded, it said send the elementalist combat teams to the north wall. I assumed that meant Lena while we keep Laelith with us for now.
    >> GoldPanda 05/03/11(Tue)21:25 No.14803867
No, never mind. They were hatched. I remember now.

We may need to storm these towers as well.

Siege engines should attack the large monsters if possible. Otherwise target the incoming towers and rams. Anti-magic ammo and flaming ammo.

    >> GoldPanda 05/03/11(Tue)21:29 No.14803921
    Okay, consensus seems to be:

West/south wall troops hold in reserve.

Lena/Bellatrix and combat elementalists reinforce the north wall.

Laelith, Sansa, Collin, Daeseu and us to the east wall.

    >as far as you know at this point and juncture, yes.

You fire off a quick series of signals from your ring, before sprinting to the east wall with Laelith and Sansa in tow. the sky is filled with repeater bolts, both those arcing towards the approaching sergeants, and those trying desperately to swat enemy flying cavalry to the sky. You reach the front of Gaius' unit very quickly, all things considered. Without even thinking about it you and Sansa hack through the larger, more thickly armored creatures protecting the obvious leader, though as soon as you do so the rest of the beasts back off leaving just yourself and the slender, gray-brown skinned thing squared off against each other, baradiche and reach on one side, steel armor, a longblade and a shield on the opposite. You spare a glance to your right to see Collin in a similar situation, Laelith and Daeseu happily slaughtering the lesser creatures with the grace and power that only they can acheive. As massive boulders begin impacting the gatehouse area, you make your move, a quick lunging stab and a following shield punch, like mercury the abomination slides away from your lighting strike, coming around with its baradiche in an attempt to take out your legs. You spin away from the strike, and counter witha backhanded slash, which the creature catches on his baradiches haft, though the kick to his chest is not impeded. The creature snarls at you as it falls back, so you move up to cut it, though with its thick scaly skin and your being at the end of your reach it is only a shallow cut in its chest. The thing spins away, and begins pacing the circle, ignoring your men as they slaughter its servnats, its murderously intelligent eyes focused solely on you.
    >> GoldPanda 05/03/11(Tue)21:43 No.14804136
Our air units should muster and fight defensively over the city. Especially protect our siege engines. Let the heavy repeaters thin out the enemy ranks first. Otherwise we'd have no chance winning.

No consensus on siege engine target. Troops or incoming towers (and that big-ass ram).

You quickly signal for the Balistae to fire into the enemy infantry until the siege equipment is closer. You foe rewards you for that with a roundhouse kick to the side of your head, sending your helmet flying off of your head, and the wall. Before he can land a blow you hurl a loose stone into his face with your elementalism, evening the score. Seconds later the deadly dance resumes, the strange timbre of superhard bone on meteorite, the swooshing of missed strikes scything through the air, even the grunts and roars of exertion seem more real to you than the war going on outside the circle. The scream of uurlanthi soldiers being skewered by balista bolts, the rough splatter of riders and flying beasts striking the wall and ground, all of it seems miles away as you focus on getting though your foes defenses. The beast smiles, and licks its flat, formless lips with its forked tongue, and launches into another assault.

You dodge your foes lunge, and roll out of the way of his sweep, buying yourself a second to see that the slaughter of the uurlanthi abominations continues unabated, though they continue to hurl themselves at your soldiers. You see one of your men fall, and a small group of the things descend upon him like starving badgers, dying in droves to eat the flesh from his still living form, coming up twice as fierce and fast even after a single bite. Then you are forced to leap to the side to avoid another downward swipe from your foe. A gout of flame accents a shout of triumph from Sansa, your foe spins, observing the battle and striking at you at once, his tendrils whipping out at your face. You try to erect a massive spike from the wall to pin the thing in place. However, it must have felt the shift, as it uses the rapidly rising stone as a springboard, flying nearly ten feet up, wheeling its bone baradiche above its head. You twist away from the blow as the creature lands, sending tiny shards of stone in all directions where the tip of its blade bit the wall. You turn your twist into an attack, and manage to mirror the slit on the things chest, twice as deep on its back. Again you are forced to punch it with your shield to avoid its lightning fast response from disemboweling you. Snarling, you begin to circle again, lashing out to decapitate a trio of its minions that are trying to inch along the outside of the ring both sides have left clear for the fight.

The beast leaps at you, arcing its baradiche in a wide sweep, which you dodge, then duck and move to strike back at him, though he blocks the blow. You tear a handful of stones from the wall in front of you and launch them at the beast, shouting out "DONT GET BEATEN BY A BU-" and then the largest of the rocks smashes your jaw, tearing teeth and cheek-flesh loose. The monster strikes the second stone, only milliseconds behind the first back at you with the but of his baradice, and launches forward behind the stone, which tears a shallow gouge in your right shoulder-guard. The abominations finger snakes into the hole as he flashes past you, tearing a chunk of flesh loose from your body, and sliding it into his mouth as the thing turns to face you again, a wicked smile on its almost lipless face.

Again the thing lunges at you, though this time you are ready, parrying the stab expertly, sidesteping the abominations body, and stepping your foot back to send the thing sprawling to the ground. You prepare to stove its head in with the same stones it used to damn near break your jaw, when a brilliant white flash lances down from the sky. You stones crash into the wall, sending a series of cracks and splinters back towards the walls face. Your blade strikes true, leaving a deep gouge in the abominations right arm, a gout of pearlescent black ichor spewing forth from the deep wound. You look up to see a pair of young forms supporting each other through the city. Both in naught but their smallcloths, one looking emaciated and near dead, the other haggered and beaten. The former is issuing forth bolts of lighting to smite the enemy aerial cavalry, the latter staring blankly at a massive crater where the western Living tower on the north wall once stood. You cannot tell which is supporting the other. Your foe again lunging at you brings you back to the matter at hand, and the fight you are embroiled in.

Have the ballistae switch fire to approaching siege towers and battering ram. Incendiary and anti-magic ammunition as the artillery crew sees fit.

If the towers aren't using magic shields, don't waste anti-magic bolts on them.

Back and forth the exchange continues, both you and your opposite now regularly scoring hits, both of you wearing down. You manage to put a stone spike through the things shin even, though it just grins and takes a bite out of your forearm on its next pass. Your balista batteries begin to hammer the approaching siege engines, though they still press onward. Block parry thrust. Your archers step up ever so slightly to get more direct firing angles. Block Parry Slash. The enemy will be climbing the wall soon. BLOCK PARRY LUNGE. Your foe glances about nervously, finally noticing the crater were the northwest tower was, and Laelith calls all the fire in the area back towards herself. A quick stab reminds your foe of where he is, though again the kill evades you. Massive eyes, unseen yet well known seem to be upon you as you circle your foe again, both of you pacing like wounded, angry beasts, hungrily eying your abuser, and finally free of your chains.

You stab and slash, hack and block, but it seems like ages where neither you nor your foe can get the upper hand. Then Laelith unleashes her fury, and in a brilliant red-orange flash the southmost Living tower is a pillar of flame. Somehow, both you and your foe end up grappling on the ground, and damn, the fucker is stronger than Garagush' sex drive. The wailing of the uurlanthi abominations can be heard, and you know you did something with your elementalism, but you are clueless as to what as you and your foe trade off slamming each others skulls into the stones beneath you.

And suddenly, your foe is snaked out from underneath you, he sprints away... through, Uurlanthi? either way the lanky thing leaps off the wall, lands, and rapidly hobbles after the smaller, more primitive versions of himself, catching them in no time. Both siege towers lie dead on the field, and you see massive stone spikes holding the ram at bay. Soemthing familiar, with a voice that is not yet resounds in your head, smelling of the smelter and the anvil somehow, though it has neather substance nor weight, reassuring you that you will not be alone. "Justinian!!" Jayne bellows, Spites reigns in her hand, as she sites atop Stormcloud, the rest of the noble cavalry milling about behind her.

You look off to see all four groups of... creatures, scattering in separate directions, one headed for Degnarian soil, two simply headed north, and the southmost headed straight for Uurlanth. You leap from the wall and land on Spites back. "Men of Degnar!!" you shout, feeling Jaynes rejuvenating powers going to work on your savaged body "Now we will show these Uurlanthi dogs our true might, we shall smite them with our indomitable spirit! AND WE WILL REMIND THEM THAT _THIS_ _IS_ _OUR_ _CITY!!!!!!!!!_" you scream as the gates begin to open, the local noble wings reponding with cries of "HOME!", while the Garlian and Morzitus riders simply reply with a rousing "DEGNAR!!". In the sky, a brilliant flash can be seen, and as you break back into the midday sun, you realize that the field is already full of riders, luminescent in silver and in gold, their livery that of Degnar, Uurlanthi knights from ages long past, even Lacerta bearing the badges of their Immortal masters. In the sky heroes on griffons and valkeries aid your beleaguered mercenaries alongside great shining wyverns. As the group of mortal riders bears down on the hastily readied spear-walls, you finally realize that it had been men at arms and blademasters pushing that ram, and that you and your men had went through them like a scythe through autumn wheat, not a single uurlanthi soldier having fallen. As you notice you are glowing slightly yourself, you see a wing of ghostly Degnarian riders form up before your group, the Uurlanthi and Immortals servants falling to the flanks. "WHOSE BLOOD FLOWS THROUGH OUR VEINS?" you shout out "WHY IS IT THAT WE ARE THE TRUE LORDS OF THE BATTLEFIELD, AND HOW DO WE KNOW THAT TOUR FOES MINUTES ARE ALREADY COUNTED AND RECORDED??" you shout out, lowering your blood-soaked spear again, ready to drive through to the heart of the enemy camp.

Bring things that will actually be tactically sound and smart advice for them. The response to your questions come in scattershot and uneven, but it has its effect. Fearlessly your men ride through the remnants of the sergeants and armored sergeants, as the even now dissipating fallen heroes continue their ride, cowing the longbowmen for long enough to ensure that what would have been a devastating volley is inaccurate or too late in coming.

Onwards you ride through the wounded and the fleeing, into the heart of the enemy camp. and there, you are shocked by what you see. The man with whom you had parlayed weeks ago, lying dead, a chest full of arrows, along with the bulk of his bodyguards, and the men who you can only assume were the guards of the Uurlanthi whose emblem had been the crossed axes. And there stands the lanky one, his bloody, pierced skull flapping in the wind, the man staring at the scattering creatures "I was supposed to be able to control them..." he gapes, you dismount as your soldiers lay waste to the camp, and the sounds of battle coming from the wall quickly change to those of slaughter.

    >> Pax !uGYNBMPzOs 05/04/11(Wed)01:53 No.14806622
"You damned fool." you eventually manage minutes after finishing the page, your voice unnaturally calm "The Old Bitch herself thought they had to go, and ALL of the immortals, not a few dragons and Elemental Patriarchs or Matriarchs, all 16 immortals, put down their arguments, stopped fighting each other, pooled their strength, and it still took them 500 years to stop the problem. And you brought them back?"

"The destiny of the kingdom of Uurlanth is to unite all thinking beings under one united banner so that never again can the reasoning races be so abused as they once were. Under a single banner we will have justice, we will have peace, and we will have prosperity." the man recites, his voice even less emotional than yours. You attempt to ask him about his sister, but he just starts the same statement over again before you can finish. Sighing you stand up, and send a full letter and status update to the 2nd.

The next morning you are standing outside the Hive Spire that originally was partly the captured noblemans sister. "I doubt she remains." the man with the syptionus vine informs you, keeping the thing dormant with his now much more powerful vine, his entire upper torso, and his right arm down to the elbow covered in its woody growth. "Though if you with to try you are more than welcome to try to enter that thing and to pull a part of its consciousness and body back out with you."

Laelilth strides up yo you, sunken eyed, but smiling "I did some figuring and reasearch last night, and with the amount of, and approximate power compared to the First age, it will take the nomad Loukys at least two years to be ready to start growing their new hives, though they will lie very, very low until then."

You settle into a meditative stance "I'll know in a moment whether I will need some volunteers or not." you reply, quickly sliding into meditation and communication with the gods. You find yourself quickly bombarded with one general sensation from all ten, and it basically all boils down too "What the hell just happened?" the only real question for you right now however, is who to answer first, and what question is the right one to ask back.

You head over to Nyetini, and are quickly pulled into her domain, her striking features already covered, much to your dismay. "Ah, Justinian, I'm so very glad you came to me first. Do you think you could tell me what happened?" she asks, trailing a finger across your shoulders and stopping directly in front of you, looking up, hands at your hips, but not quite touching them, smiling.

"A man, very foolish, was duped into finding, and resurrecting three hives worth of Loukys, then into killing his closest friends when they tried to stop the madness." you reply honestly, trying very hard to keep a level head with the goddess of beauty and love holding herself so very close to you, trapping you in place without even touching you.

"Almost sounds like Baasheks work, but the guilty party was shielding their thoughts from all of us." the goddess muses, before sighing and heading over to the spring in the corner of this small, personal area of her domain. "Care to finish our conversation over a swim? The waters here have a wonderful effect for your mortal form." she promises, a wide grin on her face.
    >> GoldPanda 05/04/11(Wed)02:20 No.14806873
Err, she's not even in charge of cruelty. You're trying to suck up to the wrong goddess. Lamynus's portfolio is lust and gratuitous destruction. We stole Laelith from her.

You smirk, and run up to leap into the pool, but you freeze mid-air "Dressed?" the goddess queries, raising an eyebrow at you. Before floating you back to the shore "Calmly please, little eager one." she chides, giggling.

You ease into the pool, only to be splashed in the face by the goddess, who laughs even more "What was-" you are cut off spluttering as you are splashed again and again, the goddess now laughing hysterically as you try to splash her back, but find that the pool will not stir for you, save to let you move about in it.

"Now, you had something you wanted to ask me about, right?" she asks as she calms down, leaning back against a root deeper in the pool, her shoulders just barely above the waterline.

You slowly collect yourself, before responding "There is a girl who was used to create one of those abominations... hives. Sister to the man I caught, who will likely die alone, loathed, and happy for it without some modicum of forgiveness from her. I was hoping you could..."

The goddess frowns, and somehow the small, minimalist expression of sadness is heartbreaking on her face, like a ghost she stands, and swims through the water, coming up behind you, and wrapping you in a hug. Her skin making the water seem as coarse as tree-bark by comparison "They have been brought together, one life, one mind, one body... it even has one soul. Were it not an abomination that sends its children to die I would respect it." the goddess coos in your ear, you can see the smile on her face even though she is behind you, its rather hard to forget it. "This siege really wore you down, you were barely able to keep your thoughts coherent, arguing with yourself on how to accept my offer, or if playing hard to get would work on me." she pouts, releasing you from the hug, immediately leaving you feeling cold and alone somehow, longing for that touch to return "And you promised to be better sport this time too." she laments, before sending you back to the hub between realms. You spend a few moments clearing your head, and making sure all of your cloths are back on, and correct. Now the only question is, whom will you try to speak with next?

    >remember, the gods didnt make creation, they just got left in charge of this chunk of it, and even they have rules they cant break

You make a swift stop through to see Raynha, to thank her for helping you end the siege. In no short terms she tells you that with how you had been carrying yourself according to her tenants she was beginning to loose face with the other gods for having not helped you more than she already had. As for as the Loukys, Raynha is just as clueless as to the real perpetrator as you are, and argues that the whole scheme was too bold to be Baashek. She does however, hope that the threat will be dealt with swiftly before if can destroy and homes or families.

Jogras thoughts are much the same as his wifes, though he is simply glad that you allowed Sansa to have her revenge so cleanly. When you rise from your trance it is roughly midday, and aside from a few Grunt Loukys corpses strewn about, nothing has changed.
