    Previous Thread:

You and the crew managed to repair the hydro plant in six hours and took a well earned rest in the emergency storage room, after barricading the entrance to be safe. Juan woke you up around 5 AM because a raptor had found it's way into the plant and was peeking into the room.

    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)17:02 No.14241173
For repairing the hydro plant, you get a skill point.

    Vehicles [Basic]
[You can also suggest another Basic skill]
    Any Basic Skill [Specialty]

You can upgrade a [Basic] skill with a [Specialty] in that skill, as per the following examples.

    + Mechanics [Automotive]
    + First Aid [Lacerations]
    + Athletics [Climbing]
    + Dinosaur Knowledge [Specific Species]

[Basic] skills are not required to attempt actions (i.e. you can still drive a car under normal circumstances without Vehicles [Basic]), but it will make more difficult actions easier to attempt or lessen penalties or failures. [Specialty] skills further this.

With all the running around we do, Athletics might be a good choice for the skill point.
The other option is more into firearms, since we might be in a fight.

I think that right now, Athletics might be more important.
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)17:11 No.14241262

Well, you have Firearms [Basic] already, but you could go for Athletics [Basic]. Guess I mistakenly deleted that.

Okay, last session, the raptors were pushing against the barricade into the room, right?
If we left the fort, could we shoot through the opening in the barricade if a raptor is visible?
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)17:17 No.14241325

Yes, you could do that. That would mean being seen by the raptors though.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)17:22 No.14241357
Well, the raptors are already trying to get in; I think they picked up our scent.
Have Juan and Emanuel get their tranq rifles ready while we sneak out of the fort and try to tag the raptors. Hopefully the barricade will hold.

    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)17:32 No.14241436
Do we know how fast the tranq takes effect? That is a pretty big factor. Also I vote athletics for a basic skill
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)17:34 No.14241457

Depends, on something like the T-Rex it can take upwards of an hour, but smaller dinosaurs take less time.
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)17:47 No.14241564

They grab their rifles while you go out and look through the barricade. You see the body and tail of a raptor nudging its head against the barricade.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)17:47 No.14241571
I think it would probably be a good idea to wait in the fort for a little while, give everyone a gun, and hold real still like.

You take your rifle and shoot the raptor. At this range, you can't miss. The dart buries itself in the raptor's back and it stands up and roars. Make an Athletics check. d100.

The raptor's head darts forward and bites your arm, pulling its head back. You slam into the barricade and feel a sickening pop in your shoulder before your arm erupts in pain. With the help of Emmanuel and Juan, you manage to get your arm back. The raptor is joined by two others, who are now trying to push the barricade over.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)19:25 No.14242690

Oh shit, sounds like we dislodged the shoulder. We did wear the chainmail, right? How bad is the arm?
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)19:27 No.14242708

You were wearing the chain, so your arm isn't hurt. But your shoulder sure is.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)19:39 No.14242852

I suppose that it's up to Emmanuel and Juan to deal with the other raptors. We could tell them to fill them with tranqs until they stop moving, but try not to kill them.

I gotta sleep now, good luck folks!
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)19:44 No.14242917
Yeah, we'll have to have the other two deal with any raptors that might show up. I mean that will show up... Get to safety and check the arm out.
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)19:55 No.14243031

You move back and leave them to attempt to tranq the other raptors, the one you tranqed is now passed out with its head in the hole in the barricade. You take a look at your arm. Definitely dislocated. You could make a First Aid check to reset it, but you could also make it worse by doing so.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)19:57 No.14243058
I think it would be best to wait a little while and see if maybe Emmanuel or Juan can help with the arm, in the state that we are in, we would probably end up doing something we regret.

    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)20:17 No.14243281

as i said, it was just in case.

    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)20:32 No.14243481
It takes a bit of work, and a lot of pain, but you manage to work your arm back into its socket. It'll be sore for a while, but you can use it. Once you get that done, you realize something. That raptor ate your tranq pistol.

Juan and Emmanuel have managed to tranq one of the raptors as it was getting ready to charge, but the other one has its head in the hole and won't let them get a shot off.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)20:40 No.14243571

I don't understand; why can't they just shoot it in the head?
    >> Emergency Chair Warmer 03/14/11(Mon)20:46 No.14243646

They could, but they're rather afraid of it, so they aren't thinking clearly enough to back up out of range of the head. As it is, they're standing on either side of the barricade. The raptor can't turn its head enough to bite them, so it's just roaring and gnashing its teeth in frustration.
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)20:50 No.14243693

Dispatch was asleep, but it sounded like there were still some people on the Maintenance channel. Have Emanuel talk to them, get them to rouse a DRT to come down here and pick up the raptors, as well as bringing another emergency generator, or the parts to fix this one.

this, also put out the fire from the explosion if there is any and see if the backup generator is salvageable. After that radio management and let them know we ran into another group of raptors, ask just how many were on the island. So far we have encountered nine dead or alive. a wileago we heard that there were only six(i think) on the island. If they are breeding management needs to know it.

Also let management know just how insecure the turbine station is.

You're still not getting an answer from Dispatch yet. It's around 5:10 now. You tell Emmanuel to get onto Maintenance to see about a DRT and he starts talking. While he's doing that, you climb out off the room and have a look around. There's a puddle of fire around the generator, it's gas tank exploded, but other than that it looks salvageable.

It's got dents everywhere, the windshield is completely shattered, and the plexiglass has popped out of the frame and is sitting in the back seats. There is a dead pterosaur on the roof of the car with it's head in the hole where the plexiglass used to be.

Damn, I'm glad that we didn't try to spend the night in that car. What killed the pterosaur?

Anyway, none of the damage sounds like it would stop it from running. Let's get rid of that body and get it set.

Probably trying to shove its head through a car windshield.
Let's clear the body out and see if the car's still functional.

Dinos really are stupid. You would think that, since it's unmoving and big, that a dino would just assume that it's a rock while parked.

Anyway, our first priority is to get those fire extinguishers and put out the emergency generator. Let's go and do that.

I suspect it was trying to get in the car and got stuck in the poorly patched hole in the window after this happened its strugles must have attracted the raptors which probably killed it and smashed up the rest of the car in the process

make a mental note to tell dispatch and Muldoon that the tranqs are killing the animals for some reason

    Blunt force trauma.

You dump the body off the roof, it's surprisingly light. You're grabbing the fire extinguishers from the Explorer when a set of lights pulls up. It's the DRT crew from the windmills.

    "Heard you had raptor problems."

Anyway, indicate to Juan to stand guard while we grab the food. Then we'll bring it in and tell Emanuel what happened.

Well, the one raptor choked on our gun. The other one OD'ed on the tranq.
The one still alive seems okay, though.

"Yup. Two of them. One swallowed my gun and choked, but the other one is tranq'd... Also this Ptero seems to have berserk'd itself to death on our car."
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)22:35 No.14244961
"Yeah, 3 of them came sniffing around when we were sleeping after getting the powerplant up and running.
"Good thing we barricaded ourselves in the supply room. Them trying to break down the barricade is what woke us up.
"We tranqed one, and another ate my tranq gun and choked on it; stupid dino. The third one was getting through, and it must have OD'ed, because it's not breathing anymore.
"And hey, I thought all of the raptors were accounted for. Or could these ones...you know...have hatched outside the labs?"
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)22:35 No.14244969
ignore this, I didn't read where it choked
    >> Anonymous 03/14/11(Mon)23:37 No.14245124
Ugh, anyone else having posting trouble?
