151 KB Sororitas Quest 2: The Oncoming Storm X His Divine Power 11/12/10(Fri)03:13 No.12768411
You send the report through the vox bead, the sisters receiving the report through their helmets and their armor speakers. most of them move back holding onto something in the room, or a doorway. The two Canonesses and Living Saint ignore you, however.

You attempt to reverse gravity, one hand clutching at a window sill as everything slowly begins to rise into the air. It's a lot of work, but you successfully disrupt everything in the room.

The Lord of Change screeches in alarm, his taloned hands clutching at the ornate architecture of the ceiling. There is no way you could take a shot at him while focusing.

However, you don't have to. Evangela noticed the daemon and flew toward him at amazing speed. He flapped his wings, trying to escape but the living saint already had momentum. She crashed into him mid air, slamming him against the ceiling, her chainsword cutting off one of his wings. The two floated through the air, fighting viciously, the daemon casting the occasional spell.

Well I suppose our we need to restore gravity and try not to blow ourselves up :D
    >> His Divine Power 11/12/10(Fri)03:26 No.12768501

    isn't that everyone's dream?

Anyway i'm gonna sleep and hope that in the morning my walls are no longer melting into the laughing faces of horrible eldritch abominations and tim curry.

    night Alpharius and other anons

also, it HAS occured to you guys that this quest is still labled Oncoming storm, right? heh...

Well soooorta. it just means theres something much worse coming.
    >> Alpharius 11/12/10(Fri)15:00 No.12772421
Worse than the Ophelia VIII and the surrounding systems being engulfed by warp portals?
    >> Alpharius 11/12/10(Fri)15:09 No.12772480
Anyways, we need, among other things, to restore gravity. Assuming of course that the disk mounted cultists appear to have drifted away from their disks.
Afterwards, get a report from the medi skull as to the condition of filigree, we should probably get the medi skull back to injured twin as soon as we can, no need to needlessly atagonise the other twin after all.

It was meant as a polite sage, I was adding nothing to the thread.

Wrestling with the eldritch powers coursing through me, I manage to dsicern the figures of the cultists floating away from their disks. Grinning slightly to myself, I release the pent up energies, hopefully without killing myself in the process.

    >Assuming we survive this and there are no complications

I send a quick thought to the medi skull, requesting information as to filigree's condition, before opening fire on any cultists who survived the fall.
    >> Anonymous 11/12/10(Fri)16:13 No.12773098
I try to keep my grip around a pillar firm- even though I've embraced the thing quite tightly, I can still feel my feet slipping out from underneath me and being drawn upwards. Right, time to end this foolishness- gritting my teeth with effort, I bark once into my comm beads "RIIGHT, GRAAVITY COMMMMES BACK, NOW!" and brace myself for the release, mentally and physically.
    >> His Divine Power 11/12/10(Fri)16:40 No.12773381

The energies lash back at you as you release them, sending you reeling back into the wall, not to far from Filigree. Momentarily stunned, you felt something hot running down your neck, however you didn't feel any pain.

You were vaguely aware of the cultists raining down from the sky, many of them breaking every bone in their body upon impact with the hard floor.

The daemonette is already on her feet, a huge grin on her face as she clutched at her ribs. The skull had repaired her cuts and bruises though.

It flew over to you, buzzing around your head, switching tools to a cauterizer, bone clamps, and a calcium and protein injector. It occurred to you that you must have cracked your skull on the stone wall.

Your daemonette moved to your side, gingerly picking you up and carrying you over to Verity. You felt a horrible cutting pain through your head as you were picked up, blacking out several times.

The next thing you were aware of was Verity and the servo skull working on your head, as well as a horrible pain shooting through your body.

You attempt to speak but Verity puts one finger to your lips.

"Just shut up for a minute. That was an exceedingly stupid move... But you did probably win it for us."

It occurs to you that more time than you initially thought has passed, the room almost completely cleared of bodies, the Lord of Change nowhere in sight.

"Florencia is one push away from killing you ever since she saw what you did to Filigree."

The daemonette in question spoke up. "The Raptor also bled to death while you were unconcious. We tried to get him to talk but even the lash didn't work. Also, Elizabeth, Sonja, and Tessa are here, as well as Inquisitor Lord Alexander Littner, though the word is Confessor Jeremiah was killed in crossfire.

"Inquisitor what are you... Oh... Filigree took your cigars. She said she did want you smoking when you were in this condition. Either that or she wanted them for herself."

Filigree held up her hands defensively. "Hey I haven't had one... yet..."

You attempt to sit up, Verity trying to hold you down for a moment, realizing it was pointless, and gingerly helps you into a sitting position. You felt her slip something in your mouth, a cool, bitter fluid filling it. "Now swallow. It's to keep your brain from swelling. You *shouldn't* be on your feet for the next few days, though I imagine keeping you down for the next few hours will be a miracle."

You hear heavy footsteps approaching. You force your eyes to focus and see the Inqusitor Lord standing over you. He crouches down, all smiles. "Recruiting Eldar to our cause. Giving your acolyte a daemonic weapon. Invoking perils of the warp by your own free will. It's been a long time since I have heard of such heresy!" He gives a short laugh. "All for the sake of defending this planet! You may be blamed for this inquisitor, but I must say, you have more balls than I do."

He clapped you painfully on the shoulder. "We get out of this alive, I'll make sure you're remembered as a hero." He took a long drink from a very strong smelling flask. "Ahhh... Now if only that damned exalted Martyr of Yours would get here we could really show chaos some hell. As it stands we've lost almost all of our troops as well as most of our vehicles. Our Titan is still standing though. It's damaged, but we don't have to let the enemy know that."

He smiled as Filigree lit a cigar, starting it for you before gently placing it in your hand.. "Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how I'm supposed to get you out of the hole you've dug. I honestly think you're pretty screwed. As for Florencia... Damn... I really don't want to get on her bad side. That woman scares the hell out of me."

"Yeah. Evangela is fine. She's too much of a stubborn bitch to die." You took a long drag on your cigar. "I should know. Long time ago, she was captured by cultists for a spell and rescued. She was spouting gibberish boarder-lining heresy for about a week when the outpost was attacked. I shot her between the eyes and went to deal with the cultists. The cultists kicked our asses. Long story short, she sprouted wings and saved us all."

As if on cue, Evangela walked up next to him. "Are you talking about me behind my back again Alex? That is impolite, you know." He gave a short laugh and playfully punched her battle-tarnished armor. "Yeah. I'm a regular old bastard."

Evangela's smile was the most sincere you've seen in a long time. She turned to you, her spirits still high. "I never thought I would meet someone as insane as Alex." She gently pressed one armored hand against your chest. "As for you. You should get some rest."

Verity tried to hold you down as you struggled to your feet, one hand on the wall. "Oh no you don't! You're staying here at least until your painkillers kick in!"

You ignore her and limp toward Filigree, her lash nowhere in sight, the purple hue of her skin completely gone, though there was a black, slightly protruding and bumpy ring around her arm where the lashwhip extends from. Its nothing that a simple robe or loose long sleeved shirt wont cover.

She draped that arm around your shoulders, laughing. "You're lucky your okay Quizzy! You made this huge splat on the wall when you hit it! It did leave a pattern through. Looked a little like an ork's face when I first peeled you off. It was really cool." She poked you in the cheek. "Also, all your wearing is a tank top and panties. I had no idea you had an aquila on your ass."

Verity facepalmed and Evangela cleared her throat, making a visible effort to not stare at your underthings. The Inquisitor Lord, however, made no such effort, smiling hugely.

"Savages..." Verity mumbled through her teeth. "Your armor is unsalvageable. At least the power pack and the connecters are. They need to be replaced. You can either have the bonesingers fashion you some armor or you can get a new set of power armor from the armory. The wraithbone armor would probably make you more mobile but it isn't as good as power armor. On top of that I don't think we'd have any designed to fit you personally like your old set was."

I don't think Wraithbone armor should be that much of a problem- it's just be being pragmatic
same reason we used the Eldar help
Maybe we can ask the Bonesingers to make it less, xeno-ish
Put a big aquila on it, or make it black and red
at the very least it should have pauldrons and skulls
    >> Alpharius 11/12/10(Fri)21:36 No.12776832
That could work I guess, I really think we should avoid needlessly atagonising florencia, she is apparently close to blamming us, so I think we should tread carefully around her. If people want wraithbone, go for it, its not like it would be any more heretical than the other things we have been doing.

Filigree's smile just widened as Verity waved over the bonesinges. "Oh come on now Quizzy. I never said I didn't like it. Hehehe... Also the red Inquisitorial I on your panties is absolutely adora-" You grab her by the ear.

"You don't want to finish that sentence, do you?" Filigree snickered, but didn't say anything else. Probably not wanting to annoy you *too* much.

You release the daemonette as the bonesingers approach you. They look you over, top to bottom, starting to shape new pieces of of wraithbone into a new set or armor for you. The substance itself grew and twisted, shaping itself perfectly to your form.

The Inquisitor Lord rolled his eyes. "You just keep digging your hole deeper, don't you Delessa? I can't help but respect you for your sacrifice though. When this all blows over, I will not directly bring any of this to light. If confronted, however I will not lie."

The bonesingers finish up quickly. Surprisingly, it looks a lot like your old set of power armor, though it is more sleek rather than angular and it didn't have a sash like your old set.

Filigree puffed out her cheeks. "But I like you naked..." She walked off to find your other equipment as the bonesingers finished up.

"Casualties are horrible." The Inquisitor Lord looked grim.

The daemonette came back with your weapons, handing them back to you, helping you buckle them on, handing you the synthskin.

Evangela fluffed her wings, stretching one out and smoothing the ruffled feathers. A nervous habit. "The saints will protect us... And if they don't, pray that the ammo holds out." She cracked a weak smile, her eyes falling to the floor. She was just as demoralized as the rest of the troops, though she was trying to hide it.

You gave her a solemn nod, stating you were going to check on the twin, but as you made your way over to her, Tessa intercepted you, practically tackling you. "DELESSA! YOU'RE OKAY!" She looked like she was going to bite your head off. "Thank the emperor! I would have killed you if you didn't make it!"

Sister Sonja and Elizabeth were close behind, both of them looked pleased to see you. "You worried us Inquisitor!" Sonja looked concerned. Elizabeth nodded in agreement. "I suggest staying away from the twins." Her voice still sounded ragged and horrible. "Their weapons were brought back down."

Tybalt barked loudly from across the room. He was on his back, Sister Anna rubbing his belly, the Silver-Winged Angles looking like they wanted to join her, but were too afraid of what the ranting Florencia would do to them if they left.

Tessa piped in, bringing you back to reality. "Have you seen the titan? It's about a mile from the center near the city square! It's spectacular!"

Well... At least her morale was fine...

The chainsword wielding sister, walked up to the window, staring at the giant mech. "I hope Esme gets here soon. I want her to see it." She hasn't lost an ounce of faith.

First time it failed a check it was described as carfully aligning itself and then suddenly accelerating into someones neck with a needle outstretched, critical fail on a medicae check :P It's kill count is fairly impressive, considering it has a 50% chance of suceeding in its checks.

I still think we should shoot sister rose. If it kills her, well that's one enemy down, we have shown defiance and we have freed one of the sisters from torture.
If for some reason she regenerates or something, we just lend credence to the "They are no longer your sisters" speech/rant and make it easier from a morale perspective.
Plus, it might shut the fallen sister up :D
    >> Anonymous 11/14/10(Sun)16:25 No.12797221
Nah, it'll just play into her hands- she WANTS us to kill the other sisters, to help destroy morale
if we can prove that even chaos can be overcome by faith in the emperor then we'll have struck a double blow against chaos
    >> Alpharius 11/14/10(Sun)16:28 No.12797270
The sisters are already dead. They are mere puppets to daemons now, trapped in a hlaf life of constant torture. There may be a way of saving them, but is it worth the risk that the possessed sisters over run us in the mean time? And do you think the other sisters will hold fire indefinatly? We do not have much time, better that we make the best of a bad situation.
    >> Anonymous 11/14/10(Sun)16:33 No.12797320
The lady just said that the Sisters are still conscious, and that Rose in particular still has her will
What I recommend is nonlethal crowd suppression tactics
The sisters are experienced enough in that area, and from the looks of it, the deamon bound sisters are armed with nothing but their barehands
    >> Alpharius 11/14/10(Sun)16:41 No.12797395
I did not mean in a literal sense. For all intents and purposes they are dead, to think of them as anything else could detract from the reality of ths situation, that we are about to be assualted by an army of possessed.
    >> Diamonds Droog !O0YmW1PxBI 11/14/10(Sun)16:48 No.12797465
So we excorcise them- at least to help tilt the balance of power so that they're in control of the deamons rather then other way round

    >> Diamonds Droog !O0YmW1PxBI 11/14/10(Sun)16:56 No.12797537
The way I see it ATM is that they have similar relationship as far as us and Filigree have, but with the deamons have the dominating position rather then the humans, perhaps because the deamons are stronger in terms of will power or because they used the reverse of whatever we did to bind Filigree to our will
Perhaps we can find a way to fix that

    Also, this
    >> Alpharius 11/14/10(Sun)17:10 No.12797689
I would just like to point out, that I really can't see the sisters playing non-lethal, and with a prospensity for flamers, bloters and chain weapons, they can't really cause non-lethal takedowns without vastly reducing their combat effectiveness.
And planting in their heads the idea that the sisters can be saved will just make them start doubting, if and when we are forced to kill some this will likely proove disaterous for morale. Better to establish no chance of saving them, and to instead shoot to kill. We are an inquisitor, we make the tough decisions that no one else wants too, because no one else will.

Sisters who would likely take their own lives shortly after regaining control? They hate daemons remember, and those who consort with or are tainted by daemons are to be killed. Every single one of them is now tainted and they know this.
And right now they are possessed with no control over their own actions. I know what I would do the moment I regained control.
    >> His Divine Power 11/14/10(Sun)17:30 No.12797947
You turn to see how the other siststers are taking this. The horrified looks on their faces speaks volumes. To the sisters, such a fate is worse than death. It was heresy of the highest order. Treason.

But to be sound in mind and not in body... Death would be a blessing. But to fire upon one you called family not hours before...

You shook off the train of thought. Now was a time for strength, not despair. The actions of the sisters could not be predicted, distraught as they were. They needed to focus.

Specifics of said speech should be thought out. Elements of this could be used, first part mainly >>12792031 I will admit a slight bias in that I had fun coming up with it.
We need to focus their hatred on the fallen sister, as hate is a powerful emotion which can be blinding. In this case a good thing, we do not want them thinking to hard on precisely what they are having to do.
If possible it may be worth taking command rather than having them have to make the concious decision to fire on their sisters, it is easier to follow orders after all, and it may enable us to slightly bypass the guilt by instead redirecting their feelings of guilt into hared towards us for forcing them into doing it. This idea is a bit flimsy I will admit and is most definatly up for contention.
We need to reinforce the idea that killing the sisters is freeing them, and is a release. They are not killing their sisters, instead they are freeing them etc.

    Just some ideas.

Alright, we raise the morale of the battle sisters then what? We're back to the same problem: Sit here and do nothing or shoot and potentially get zapped into the warp a little sooner.
Is there any reason for us to stall for time because otherwise we might as well just take the shot.

This whole thing is sliding from GRIMNDARK into Warp falls everyone dies.

I welcome suggestions as to how we are meant to subdue the possessed, and how we are meant to exorcise them in this situation. I will admit that it would be awesome if we could through some miracle save the sisters, but I can honestly not see any means of us acomplishing this.
    >> Alpharius 11/14/10(Sun)17:52 No.12798169
I don't think we will be killed for taking the shot. I would not be surprised if the fallen sister is waiting to see how long it takes before the sisters start firing on their own.

The way I see this is that is basically a hold out situation, we see how long we can hold them off, and pray that esme returns before we all die.

My idea was that Filigree apparently likes us. And if we tell her that we care about the Sisters of Battle, she might want to help them. For us.

Then again, she might be just THAT manipulative. Still, it might not make the situation better, but also won't make it worse.
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)18:13 No.12810465
Erm, depends who overhears the conversation. I don't think florencia would like it that much. And some of the sisters still don't really like us.

I think that sounding in control rather than desperate would be better in this situation, when even the living saint is struggling, remaining stoic could help if we need to rally people.
That said, I agree that filigree is a good choice for information, after all being a daemon she proabably knows what could banish her and by association, other daemons. And if she does like us and isn't being manipulative, appealng to her may just work.
    >> Anonymous 11/15/10(Mon)18:20 No.12810540
That sounds about right to me

    >> Anonymous 11/15/10(Mon)19:22 No.12811208

Filigree's curiosity overrides any loyalties it seems (looking at her willingness to tell us about the warp devices)

I think just bearing witness to this is what is exciting her. If she knew anything, she'd tell us because it would make it more exciting.
    >> His Divine Power 11/15/10(Mon)19:23 No.12811217
Okay so what seems to be the overall agreement you guys?

Check with filigree to make sure she knows nothing else about this phenomena or has any ideas about it's origins, methods, or possible reversal
Check with Farseer to see if she knows anything about this
    Flip off the bitch
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)19:50 No.12811531
This really, save for flipping of the farseer. We save that for later, when we are still alive against all odds.

    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)19:54 No.12811585
Ah, in that case, by all means continue. We could even throw a vortex grenade at her, who knows? It may ruin her day. Especially if she isn't actually a daemon, just infused with power. Remember, if it bleeds, we can kill it.
    >> His Divine Power 11/15/10(Mon)20:29 No.12812014

your attempts to glean anything more from the daemonette are met with only laughter, the daemon unable to form complete sentences.

The Farseer's expression was guarded, though she was tense. "I've seen this before Inquisitor, but only once. A being forced to be the puppet of the warp, only to be consumed by it upon their death. Regardless of our action, we will be making chaos stronger, unless your sisters are somehow special. in that they can avoid their soul being devoured."
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)20:39 No.12812130
"So your saying that there is no way to remove the daemons now that they are bound? And that the only means we have of saving the sisters souls is their own willpower?"

And then lets bring the pain to the fallen sister. We will find away. We have the power of rule of cool and have maxed out badass, how can we lose?

I was hoping though that we could inspire those bound sisters to tear off their shackles through our inspiring speech as well,
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)20:50 No.12812227

Another point, in our badass speech, we should refrain from mentioning that the sisters will have their souls eaten unless they have enough will. If it comes to it, we should lie about how we are infact saving the sisters. Morale is important here, if they realise what they are infact doing, we are in for a world of pain.
    >> Anonymous 11/15/10(Mon)20:59 No.12812299
    Inspire the soulbound sisters?
We've got a living angel on our side- can't she do something to make people more entranced by the god emperor's light
At the very best we can always fall back to bard tactics of raw charisma
"Fight, fight, fight, against having your soul eaten,"
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)21:09 No.12812423
The problem is, from the way I understand it, their will doesn't allow them to regain control, only to prevent their souls being snatched and devoured by the daemons when they die.
    >> Anonymous 11/15/10(Mon)21:14 No.12812483

The sisters shift uncomfortably, their faces hardening, though the idea of what they were about to do seemed to haunt them. Evangela straightened up, taking a deep breath before approaching the window, raising her voice.

"You come here and strike down and humiliate us. You have come to break our spirits, but we shall remain here and fight until we draw our last breath!"

The corrupt sister grinned widely. "I hoped you would say that..." She snapped her fingers, the possessed sisters going into a frenzy, firing their bolters at the windows, though they seemed to be a rather poor aim, their bodies twitching and jerking.

I can see you and your battles and know that, even as your bodies are wracked by the vile wishes of the deamon, you fight still. I can see your desperation, I can sense your despair.
For you, you may believe this is the greatest battle you’ve ever fought- a direct contest of wills between that which you have sworn to destroy.
For me, that is a Tuesday afternoon!
Look at the deamon twisting within you, perverting The God Emperor’s most sacred warriors! Will you stand for such an outrage!

Look at yourselves, betwitched by the forces of the ruinous powers!
What is a deamon? Nothing more then a miserable pile of emotions!

*Evangela, get up and flutter your wings a bit, try to look holy and symbolic why don't you? And would it kill you to use some sort of blessed radiation to help motivate them?*
Look, sisters! Look unto Evangela our living Saint!
She was like you! Bound and raped and disfigured a thousand times over by the forces of Heresy, her body scarred beyond comprehension, her mind broken!
But do you think that let her stop her?
Hell no! She broke through that!
How? By purity, piety, and above all else unflinching hatred of the warp the wytch and the mutant!
These are the values we have built the imperium on, and it will be a cold day on Maggretha before I let them fall.

I was thinking more heroic sacrifice, if she never see's them, she can't dodge. We already know that we are not getting out of this alive and will be executed for heresy, so why not die on our own terms trying to kill the BBEG?
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)22:47 No.12813546
Or we could cook them for a few seconds, then throw and pray.
    >> Anonymous 11/15/10(Mon)22:51 No.12813605
Somehow I don't think Mirial is the bbeg- and I think Delessa enjoys life too much to contemplate a heroic sacrifice
Cooking them for a moment may have potential- I was also thinking of perhaps paralysing her for a second and stuffing one of them down her throat
    >> Alpharius 11/15/10(Mon)22:57 No.12813669
How would we paralyse her? We have already seen her destroy a building with her mind.
Throwing and praying is probably our best option.

Actually....I have a plan! We still have a servo skull, imperial servants are know for them, we could rig ours with a single vortex grenade, keeping the other as backup, then if we fight her, get it near her somehow, then detonate.
    >> Anonymous 11/15/10(Mon)22:59 No.12813693
I don't know if facing off against the fallen sister is a good idea, but if we do, my general plan would be to spam frag grenades until she's unphased by us throwing stuff at her, and then toss the void sphere at her- aimed so that it breaks directly on her person, like on her chest or something
