So, one day later than usual, it's Zeonquest.

You are respected ace pilot Commander David Lister of the Principality of Zeon.
In the aftermath your evacuation of Odessa, you travelled to your home away from home, the Pezun testing asteroid.

You are currently involved in an Anti-MA Doctrine formulation exercise.

That said, you'll probably have to call it a day sooner or later some they want to give you, and your elite team, the Nachtmaren Unit some more medals.

You and the two other teams have just finished discussing the first run, and are now planning for a seccond attempt.
The First team is opting to use high powered flash grenades to try and distract and disorient the Val-Valo whilst they operate several synchronised assaults from multiple directions. It's a good plan, but it will be telling to see if the team has that level of co-ordination.
The second team has decided to eschew it's previous frontal assault and has opted for a run and gun through the debris field. Trying to tire Hovis into making mistakes. You warned them that it takes more than an hours work to tire him, but they seem confident an oppourtunity will present itself.

    >> Anonymous 10/16/10(Sat)12:22 No.12464437
I thought our plan was to get the Pezun techs to slap together a Zeon Core Fighter and scare the shit out of Hovis.

    >> I apologised on 4chan !!857o4GkKJgy 10/16/10(Sat)12:28 No.12464503

That's not really something you can do in an hour.
Hell, it's not really something that you can do in several years.
Transforming surfaces are more of a Federation thing. It takes Zeonic scientists (through anaheim) something like 6-7 years before they even come up with the Menthuss, and that was hardly all that great. Hell it takes a newtype 14 year old designing the Zeta in his spare time before they finally get the hang of it.

Meanwhile, the feddies (well, the titans really) are throwing out the Gaplant, the Hambrabi, the Gabthley, the Asshimarr...
    >> Anonymous 10/16/10(Sat)12:31 No.12464519
Maybe we can use the flash grenades to disorient Hovis, and David, Zolomon, and Elayne try for a modified Stream Attack?

I'll let Arty explain his idea in further detail. The gist of it is to slap together a Kampher body and thrusters into a space superiority fighter.

10 being Space Pirates attempting to replicate the morph ball.

I It would proably be easiest to fit Flash Grenades in the underslung grenade launchers.
So you want to get flash him the flare at close range, whilst Elaine behind you hits him with a Bazooka and Zolomon finishes up with his heat hawks?
If they're anything left, presumably you'll make it up as you go.

    As usual.

    Delicious delicious Gaplant.

I still think we should try for a chainmine if we can. One solid hit should be enough to take Hovis down pretty soundly, since those things were designed to take out battleships. Obviously it's going to be nigh-impossible, but Zolomon might want to take one just in case.

Surprise him with the flash grenade, like, right in his cockpit at point blank range.
Do coordinated assaults until David is just close enough, have the flash go off, then synchronized simultaneous attack by all three.

The first team tries it's tactic first.
Multiple Flash Grenades strobe in the battlezone, followed by explosions as rocket proprelled grenades and Bazooka shots impact on or around the Val Valo.

Hovis reacts by moving a high speed, firing his missiles in speculative bursts. He pushes through the formation, apparently splitting them up, he swings around against one he's spotted, using AMBAC manouvers alter his direction of travel.
For a second his large claw arms are useless as they flail in computer organised motions and the Squad Leader attempts to make good on this oppourtunity by getting into his face and firing a burst from his 120mm from slightly above.
He takes some hits to his legs from the Val Velo's frontal Vulcans as he does so. According to your data readings his left leg is registered as destroyed. You didn't think it was that bad of a hit, must have been an unlucky fluke.

In any case, his attack on the Val Velo fails to penetrate, and with his legs damaged, he is unable to escape in time before the claws coil around him and finish him off.
His squadmates were just a second late as they make there assault. A pair of paint-explosions erupt from both sides.
Your readouts report light damage, and that the primary armour on the MA is 78% depleted.
Hovis continues to swing around, firing missiles as he does so. His megaparticle cannon reaches out, but fails to make contact. The other two are already gone.

They manage to make three runs before a stray missile takes out the second, upon which Hovis runs out of missiles, the last one attempts to finish the battle seeing him run out of ordinance, and manages to disable the left claw and the power feeds to the MP Cannon before the final claw managed to heavily clip him.
Whilst the teams attempt could be considered a failure, the Val Valo is so badly damaged that you personally would call it a draw. If that last guy had curbed his enthusasism for closing in, he might have finished it.

The second squad begins it's run.

The three of them first get Hovis's attention by firing off a bazooka shot at him. The shot goes wide, but it nevertheless get's the Val Valo's attention and they dodge away from his return fire. Despite their plan, the Val Valo refuses to pursue into the debris field and the two groups trade long range fire over large distances.
As you expected, Squad 2 loses his patience first and closes in. Not completely without guile he pushes a couple of debris pieces in first to cover is advance.
Technically speaking, this is a breach of the Testing Area rules, due to the possility of lethal collisions as well as creating navigation hazards.
On the battlefield however, it's still a perfectly fair tactic. One that you employed yourself yesterday.

The three come out from behind their cover and attack the Val Valo from three directions, circling around it at full speed, trying to avoid his return fire.
Hovis reacts well, constantly cycling the missiles on full auto whilst rotating and twisting on full burn himself, attempting to outdistance the Zaku's surrounding him.
In the end, his large thrusters prove the day, and he's able to outpace them. He swings around, his AMBAC disabled and levels a full barrage at the enemy with his missiles, mega particle beams and vulcans. One Zaku takes a direct strike and is instantly marked Destroyed, another is unable to avoid the missile storm and is destroyed also. The last one loses it's left arm and takes thruster damage, making him an easy target to finish off.

Well. Now it's your turn. So:
    also, brb dinner.

the modified Stream Attack, and throw in some chain mines.
Zolomon will try to entangle the MA's claws with a chain mine while David will try to hit the main body with one and Elayne uses her bazooka.
    >> weird 10/16/10(Sat)14:13 No.12465567
Flash strobe as an opening move works fine. Followed with a spaced bazookas, flash, and more bazookas. Don't just dump ammo, but intersperse shooting while Hovis is blinded.

The last salvo should be rapidly followed by -successive- charges with chainmines, 2 at least. First charger ought to come in the direction of the big cannon, while Hovis is still blinded and doesn't want to waste his big shot. Eat vulcan if you have to, and try to get one claw out of order. Second charger comes in from behind and chainmine the other claw, whether or not the first is destroyed.

Meanwhile non charging member pepper Hovis with zook at big cannon. Both chargers leave and pepper Val Varo with a last flash and all ammunition. And then the last member charges in with heathawk to either cockpit, big cannon, or main sensor.

Only problem is Val Varo's speed, and the possibility of Hovis deciding to spam attacks instead of dodging if he realizes that we are going to keep him in the dark for with successive flashes.

    It's your turn.
You don't know how well you can pull off the Jetstream attack on your first try, but that's what practice exercises are for.

You give everyone a Chain Mine to use if they get in close. You cluster together, and wait for the go signal.
At the sign, the three of you surge forwards towards the Val Valo in single file.
"Stay in formation." you remind the other two as you lift up over the Megaparticle beam that reaches out at you.
You arm the flashbang in your GL and as the Vulcan banks send streams of 120mm paintballs towards you, you fire it and pull off and under the bulk of the Mobile Armour.
Above you, Elaine fires her bazooka in the instant your mobile suits head clears her line of fire. Your readout records the cockpit taking heavy damage. The armour is completely shattered, and the command signal circuitry has taken some damage.
Zolomon comes in with his Heat Hawk ready and Elaine lifts up and over, her chain mine lashes out at the nearest pince as it tries to grasp at Zolomon. The weapon entangles the claw, and then explodes taking out the claw.
Paying no heed to the vulcan shots all around him, Zolomon charges forward and slashes with his axe. His slash misses the cockpit fractionally hitting on the left side. With the depleted armour, the computers register critical damage, severing control to the Left arm, left gunbanks, and left missiles.
As Zolomon breaks off you manage to hit the underside with your own Chain mine. The damage punches through the armour in several places, causing a cluster of fauls in the drive system. It looks like he's taken a power and agility hit.

With him so badly weakened, you tell the rest of the team to stick to his lefthand side, and pour on fire from that flank until eventually the Val Velo stops moving. With his engines damaged, he can't swing around to face you.

Looks like the jobs a good un again.

Back in early October we visited Solomon after capturing that Fed Carrier Hovis blew the engines off of.

    >In the evening you go over various officer testimonials and try to put more into the space combat side of your combined arms doctrine. From the looks of it, whilst there's nothing wrong with using Space Fighters as harassing forces to keep control of the flanks, logistically they die too easily and often there are too few of them (or rather pilots for them) to make that tactic consistently viable.
    >You recommend they build a better space fighter, but in the off chance that comes off as flippant, you try to think up alternate strategies.

So we potentially set things in motion for a new space fighter a month ago. After we get our medals we should ask the techs about that.
We should also ask Anita about helping us sechedule some appointments with various research groups and fellow officers. We should deffinitely hold a briefing on Trojan Horse weak points once we and the Wappa team are all debriefed.
    >> I apologised on 4chan !!857o4GkKJgy 10/16/10(Sat)14:49 No.12465923
All told. A pretty good first attempt of the Jetstream attack, which everyone appreciates when you all get back together to discuss how the second rounds went.
There's some reprimands from Exercise Control over moving the debris field. It was a good attempt, but frankly you get the feeling that Team 2 aren't as good as they think they are.
Team 1 on the otherhand you can see improvement with, all they need is a bit of confidence to engage at slightly longer ranges and they could have won that last round.

The exercise continues for two more rounds of the same. In the end, Team 2 eventually manages to get lucky, and win with attrition tactics. Team 1 on the other hand manages to go on to score two more wins. Your team never actually fails to defeat Hovis, although he does manage to defeat you personally by bracketing you in the debris field.

You draw some pretty interesting conclusions to MS vs MA combat tactics. You make a mental note to add them to some tactical essay at some point.

In any case, time's running short, so you all decide to call it a day as you have to get ready for the awards ceremony.

As I recall it was a single black armband, divided into three bands by lines of purple.

Anyway. You all get ready in your dress uniforms for the awards ceremony in one of the Briefing Auditoriums.
As you arrive you are greeted by the Station Head: Commodore Zamza, still much the same as you remember. Strauss is there as well.

"Gentlemen, we are assembled here to recognise the actions of those who gave their all in the name of Zeon, and more importantly what Zeon stands for, and what it SHOULD stand for. We are here honour those who are not here today, and for those who have given more than they should ever have been asked to give, and for those who have given more than was thought possible. Those who have stopped the unstoppable, those who have seen through the invisible, defeated the undefeatable and above all else, shown all men, be the federation or Zeon, what it truly means to be soldiers."

There's much clapping. Although you felt that it rambled on a little bit.

The awards take about an hour. Aside from the promotions you requested all going through. Everyone get's upgrades to their Knights Crosses, which techincally makes Nachtmaren a unit of Knights of the Realm.
All surviving members of the battle for odessa are given a specially crafted medal: The Odessa Cross. Plus, all of you who took part on the Jaburo op are awarded Operation Hunter campaign badges, and both you and the Mashiba team are awarded another Badge of Merit.

This concludes the awards cermony. You don't have anything scheduled for the rest of the day.

Strauss is busy for the next few hours, but he should be able to make it to the officers mess for a quick dink around then. He says to invite Zolomon too. Since the officers mess in Pezun has no Karaoke facilities, you see no danger in this.

The rest of the team seem fine. You haven't seen Mauser in a while, but he's probably busy with his ship. Jolyne comes back reporting that the Gyan Cannon is okay, but the for a cannon variant she feels that the Shoulder Cannons lack punch, even with two of them.
She can't fault the close quarters abilities of it though, which will make a nasty suprise for someone sooner or later.

You ask Garma about what he plans to do now. You also voice concerns that the situation with Gihren and his Loyalists will need resolving sooner or later.

"For now, I've got the factories in New York and California working overtime to try and regroup our losses. I'm also seeing a fairly large influx of surviving units from Odessa reaching our shores that I'm trying to integrate with our current forces. The Federation have become bolder with the loss of Odessa as well. It's relatively quiet on the Rio Grande Line, Jaburo is still trying to recover it's losses from the looks of things. The north is becoming a meatgrinder though, especially with the winter weather making conditions much more difficult than they were even previously. As soon as the Outer Heaven is repaired I'm going to want you down here on either that front, or making our fourth and *sigh* hopefully final attack on Jaburo. As for Gihren, my fear is that if we concentrate on him, the forces we'd need to expend to finish the matter would leave us completely exposed to the Federation. But as you say, we DO need to do something. I believe Kycillia is looking into other more ...distasteful methods, you may want to travel to Grenada whilst the Outer Heaven is being repaired to talk to her more about that."

You talk to him about what we'd have to do to call a ceasefire.

"I doubt we'd be able to get decent terms out of the federation at the moment. Odessa is being treated as a major victory for the the Federation. I'll talk to father about opening a line for a dialogue though. I'll have to do it via letter again though. Are you up to sending Father another letter?"

"Sure, I can't cause ANOTHER civil war can I?" You reply.

I'm not really sure, I know that's what the Gundam looks like if you use it with a Zeon pilot in Federation Vs Zeon for the PS2. I also think it's in Gihren's Greed a couple of times.

You mount up inside your newly refurbished NachtZaku and do a quick systems check.

"Before you leave there's just a few new things you should know about." Says Okawara over the comm.

"You didn't mess with the balance did you?" you ask concerned.

"No, everythings all balanced out to the ratios you left. Anyway, I've fitted a 4 meter long heat blade into both of your forelegs that extends from the bottom sole of your feet. I figure it'll be good for giving reach to those kicks you keep making. Next, we installed a pair of Gouf Custom pattern Heat Rods into your forearms, aside from the obvious, they also make good grappling lines."

"Right, I think I see where the switches for those all go, plus I see you added some head vulcans."

"Just a pair of 50mm guns. The penetration isn't great, but it's an extra edge right?"

Once you're all loaded up, you exit the Hangar bay into space, and make your way around the asteroid to rendezvous with Strauss and his team of 4. They're piloting a mix of high end mobile suits, 2 Rick Dom II's, a Kampfer and a pair of High-Mob Gyans. Strauss himself is in some unidentified mobile suit that appears to be a cross between a Gelgoog and a Gyan. After 15 minutes you can finally spot the tell-tale flashes of the battle up ahead, it's still to far away to get any details. You ask Calvin if he can see anything any better.

"I think I can make out 4 mobile suits or so. Might be more. I can't get a feel for their class, but... wait, that was a beam rifle shot. Whatever they are, they're packing."

"Yes, we can deploy on your order if you want Commander." is the reply.

You're about 2 minutes away, and the targets have resolved to 5 Gelgoogs, the Bifrost itself is heavily damaged, and smoking and on fire. It wont last too longer.

Maybe have Hovis, Calvin, and Jolyne go to become those cruisers' worst nightmares, while David, Zolomon, Bernie and Elaine ride in hard to take down those Gelgoogs.

The Musai can go against the enemy cruisers provide support. Hopefully Jolyne can get in a shot with her beam bazooka before they release anti-beam chaff.

Actually, that's an idea: Have Calvin and Jolyne use ballistics ahead of the Musai, with Hovis hiding behind it. That way the enemy will hold off on using their chaff, thinking we don't have beam weapons. Until Jolyne cores one with her bazooka and Hovis comes out from behind the Musai like a bat out of hell.

You order the Musai and Val Velo to go after the enemy ships whilst the Mobile Suits go after the Gelgoogs.

The two groups break away and head towards their targets. As the distance between you and the Bifrost shortens you can finally make out just how bad the ship is damaged. It's already beginning to launch escape pods whilst still firing back. The engines appear completely disabled and there's a lot of smoke and debris everywhere.
You engage a nearby Gelgoog as it swings round puts a beam shot at close range through a point defence turret. The shot has the fuzzy look of a weapon fired through low concentrations of AB-Chaff, as do the trio of shots fired from your own Beam Carbine. Sparks fly from the Gelgoog as you hit with two good shots. His right arm is sheared clean, the Beam Rifle with it, and the armour on his left leg melts away. You finish him off by testing out your new Leg blades, slicing the stricken suit clean in half. Both ends fall away.
Around you it's a similar tale, Zolomon's already engaged a pair of Gelgoogs, with Elaine backing him up. Bernie and a Rick Dom II from Strausses squad are back to back keeping a trio of them from closing in. The trio then becomes a two as Jolyne snipes one from afar.

Strauss is with you and points you towards the next target, you acknowledge his hand signal and move in to flank the opposing Gelgoog.

The Bifrost then launches it's special transport pod, used to transport MA's. The hatches blast away to reveal a white Zaku type mobile suit with a large thruster pack instead of legs. You recognise it as being similar to the one you fought in Pezun several months ago.

    Then the Bifrost explodes.

You're rocket about in your seat and tossed head over heels as your entire screen goes white...

Could have been any one of several things.

When you come to, you do a quick check of everybody. Nobody reports damage, just a little shook -up. The Gelgoogs are pulling back to try and defend their ships, in the distance you can see that your forces have engaged the enemy vessels.

Overhead the white shape of the MS you saw the Bifrost launch just before it exploded roar past you at high speeds, pursuing the enemy mobile suits. The psycommu Wire-Guided Beam Hands launching away.
Even with the losses you inflicted on them, the white suit is still outnumbered. You order the rest of the team to pursue the enemy, and to try and keep the friendly alive.

You all push forwards, naturally sinking into a combat formation, taking the occaisional shot at the enemy. Most of your fire is ineffectual as the Anti-Beam Chaff density worsens.

There's a yellow flash, and a Gelgoog explodes as 5 beam guns are shot through it at point blank.
By now however the Gelgoogs are firing back. Fuzzy looking lines streak out to try and catch the White suit, which turns and twists in torturous yet strangely precise evasive maneouvers.

You see the Kampfer on Strausses team push ahead, flanked by the two Rick Dom's all firing their bazooka's to try and put extra pressure on the enemy as you get close to the Chivvays.
Their shots don't actually manage to kill any, but they have to use their shields to defend themselves against it, which leaves one momentarily open, 5 beam shots split him in twain from head to crotch as a result.

Then Zolomon is dashing ahead of your all, rockets streaming ahead of him like they're travelling in slow motion and the widening corona of high explosives expands outwards until both he and it hit the enemy formation like a comet.

Explosions and smoke follow. Then chaos, in the middle of which, as is default is Zolomon Ringo.

At this rate, Nachmaren isn't just going to be a squad, or a special forces unit. We're going to be a full Company.

We should try to find out which it was. Also, once we've finished off the enemy, collect the escape pods and help them back to Pezun on our Musai.

Strauss pulls along side you as you descend into the melee.
"They did it! They finally did it! They actually managed to make a suit that Zolomon could charge into the middle of something and survive!"

You don't have time to answer as you close the gap with the enemy. You drag a beam rifle out of a gelgoogs hands with your heat rod, he looks at you confusedly and you fire 6 shots into him from close range in reply. The AB-Chaff is getting pretty bad here, and you replace your Beam Carbine with your Bullpup. A Gelgoog sees an opening and attacks you with his Naginta, you turn the blow aside with your gundam shield, spray his sensors with head vulcan before slicing the offending arm off at the joint with your leg blades via a backflip. When you right yourself, you fire a close range burst from your Bullpup into him. The suit disintegrates under the heavy fire. Although you do need to lash it on.

In the distance there is an explosion. With a bit of luck, that's the enemy Cruisers being dealt with. The AB-Chaff is playing merry hell with laser coms.
Zolomon has already killed another one with his charge, and the others are already making kills of their own. It looks like they weren't expecting you to respond with such numbers, or for Pezun to deploy it's ace fighters.
The battle is over within minutes, the enemy fight to the last, choosing to fight to the death rather than surrender.
It's a bad precedent for the civil war, and you ask Strauss if this is common.

"Not so much, but sometimes you do get diehard fanatics who dote on Gihren's every word. It seems he's been seeding them within the military for years. Most probably in preparation for a coup attempt anyway. Well, that's what I think anyway."

You rejoin with the White Mobile suit. It's taken no actual damage, except i appears that the left cable for it's arm was severed at one point. It's just sitting in space waiting for you.

"Uh, unidentified friendly, are you okay?"
    You don't get any response.
    "Unidentified friendly please respond."
There's another moment of silence before you get a reply.
"I want to go home please."
It sounds like a scared little girl.

"It's fine Nell, it's me Wolf. We can take you home, but first let's go to Pezun first and get a new ship okay." Strauss joins in.

    "You know her?"
"The Institute usually either tests out their newtype weapons either on Grenada or here, Nell was usually the test pilot they used for testing in Pezun, as she was one of the less tempermental examples they had, and could stand to travel easier than others."
"... gone, all gone, so many people all gone..." Nell mumbles to herself listlessly over the intercom.
    "That's less tempermental?"
"She's usually better, it must be the shock of the Bifrost and everyone on it being destroyed. We should probably search for escape pods and survivors."

In a few minutes you meet back up with Hovis, Calvin and the Musai, all appear essentially undamaged. Hovis reports that he basically tore one of the Chivvays in two, whilst the other one fled out of the battlezone. They didn't want to overextend themselves and pursue however.

The MSN-01 is dragged back to the hangar bay, whilst you pick up escape pods. In the end it looks like about 60 people survived.
From a crew of about 300.
"Don't beat yourself up about it David, there was nothing more we could have done."
"They said you couldn't take out 4 pegasus class ships in 10 minutes, but we did. Then we still lost thanks again, to Gihren. If I ever find him, I'm going to blow his head clean off with a Bazooka."
    "Get in line."

    -OMAKE 2-

    Dear father
I hope this letter finds you well, certainly, I hope it finds under better circumstances than the last time I used these particular couriers to deliver my mail!
The matter I wish to talk to you about however is a serious one. Gihren's continued meddling within the war effort for his own ends is detrimental to all spacenoid life, and more directly weakens our position on the bargaining table when the time to sue for peace comes. The longer we let the war drag on, the worse it will become. We must sue for peace sooner rather than later, even now they are marshalling their forces in the aftermath of their taking of Odessa. If the forces arrayed against us at Odessa ever manage to get into orbit, it will fundamentally shift the balance of power in their favour, at that point, any hope of a benificial settlement will dissappear.
I cannot guarantee that I will be able to take Jaburo before this time. Or if that will even change matters. I believe that in the aftermath of our earlier attack, much of the HQ functions have now been transferred to Dublin.
Even a ceasefire that would allow us to put this broken house of ours in order would be enough.

The bottom line father is this, we CANNOT beat the Federation and Gihren at the same time. Gihren knows this, and he uses these facts to his advantage.
We MUST bring the Federation to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

    Yours sincerely

    Garma Zabi

Two bored looking Federation officers carried on a conversation while watching over their seemingly unchanging monitors.
"So then I said 'why dont you just put Mobile Suit arms on a ship and use that instead.'"

"That actually doesnt sound like a half bad idea. I mean look at that Gunta-."
The Federal officer was interrupted by alarms on his computer going off.

"Sonar is going nuts in sector twelve. Looks like impacts of some kind."
"I'll bounce a radio signal off to some of the ECM planes, see if they're picking up zeon activity."

"There was one big impact followed by a whole bunch of little ones."

"What the hell? Radio's no good in sector twelve, it's blanketed in Minovsky particles!"

"It's got to be a Zeon attack! Put the base on alert. Oh shit! Sector twenty just registered impacts!"

"Calling it in. This is Jaburo North monitoring center calling central HQ, we are under attack by unknown enemy forces. We're suffering large seismic events followed by Minovsky disruption on the surface. Please advise."

"Sector Seven now. All rader in the Jaburo Nothern Defense grid is now incapacitated."

"Jaburo Central HQ please respond. Our early warning systems appear to be targeted by some sort of enemy bombardment."

General Revil had learned many decades ago how to sleep light. So it was that when General Quarters was sounded it wasnt long before he was on his feet getting dressed. He was just donning his over shirt when one of his aids came for him.
"Sir they need you in the command center right away. We're under some sort of attack but nobody knows quite what."

The elevator arrived at it's destination with uncommon quickness. Revil seemed to be stepping off even before it had come to a complete stop.

"Report. What are we looking at?" he asked in his calm but slightly gruff demeanor

"Deffninitely a bombardment of some kind. It's not a kinetic strike from orbit but our orbital zone garrison forces are reporting seeing lights coming in from the north at great speed."

"Doyle, does intelligence have any leads?"

"We're running through the list of possibilities but we only have two that would seem to fit."
The Colonel called up images on one of the larger monitors.
"The first is the 'Apsalus' which we believe to be an atmospheric flight capable warship. We think this is an all gun ship as opposed to our new Pegasus class Assault Carriers. However our reports on it's development site are conflicting. Some say Central Asia into the Gobi, yet others say South East Asia somewhere."

    "And the other one?"
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/16/10(Sat)23:32 No.12471073
"We recovered plans in August for a weapon that would launch fusion plasma filled Minovsky bubbles. It was supposed to be built somewhere in the Central Americas or Cuba. A signifigant number of our analysists believed this to be a ruse once we found evidence that vital equipment was never transferred from one of the supposed Apsalus sites."

"What makes you think it could be that now?"

"There was some Zeon HLV activity at the beginning of the month near Cuba. We also had some shipping manifests of a large number of anti aircraft guns suddenly being transferred. In combination with the seismic events we're experiencing, minovsky radiation and the limited visual cues it all seems to fit."

Revil stroked his beard. "The next time intelligence finds evidence of Zeon Superweapon construction perhaps you could give someone on my staff a heads up."

    "Aye sir."
"How much danger does this thing pose to Jaburo right now?"

"Nothing has actually struck the base armour layer yet sir." Reported a Commodore from the fleet engineering detachment. "They appear to be bombarding a wide area."

"They must be trying to cripple our defenses and launch facilities. Gentlemen listen up. Begin moving production blocks to secure locations and prepare to launch all space-flight capable vessels into orbit. If our launch capability is damaged it could take us weeks to get more ships up to the zero gee front. In the meantime all fighters and bombers are to scramble. Load up our heaviest conventional ordinance, we have to kill that gun dead."

    "Dead Eye copies."
    "Rocky copies."

"Gold Wing lead to Tin Man."

"One of my boys blew their launch. Landing gear wells hadnt been shielded against M-Fog, and fried his instruments."

"...I copy, how much of a delay are we looking at?"

"We're going to be ten minutes behind you minimum. Get to the target, we'll follow on full burners."

"Roger. Tin Man to Grey Wing we may be the only heavies on this run. Watch your spacing."

"We're running out of ammo sir." Chief Gerulf said over the vibrations from the most recent shot.

"Good I was getting worried we'd have to hold up this 'kick me' sign all day. Save the last flash-bang to signal Mauser's Unit. Have we heard anything from Jamaca yet?"

"Observers are in position but no sightings yet. Minovsky blow-in from Panama is reducing ground level visibility."

Wesell grimaced. "We'll they had better come soon or I might start getting tempted to launch a Mobile Suit reactor set for overload from this thing."

Lt. Commander Mauser kept a light hand on the stick of his specially modified 2 seat Saberfish superiority fighter. He'd been roped into leading a squadron of the Federation built fighters captured or rebuilt by the Zeonic forces in North America. It was their job to infiltrate any Feddie air units headed north today and destroy their bombers. The exact reason for this had never been made clear to him but he knew that he'd been passed over for combat duty in the upcoming assault on Jaburo because of it. Given the choice of bailing out over the Caribbean Sea or a jungle crawling with Feddies he was starting to get the idea that maybe it wasnt such a bad thing.

"Contacts topside." Reported the radio and electronics officer sitting in the seat behind him.
Punching up the laser com Mauser signaled the rest of the unit. "Everyone you know the drill. Keep chatter to a minimum and save missiles for priority targets only."

"You heard the man. Activate IFF."
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/16/10(Sat)23:51 No.12471272
As one all twelve fighters lit up their transponders, broadcasting their position and bearing to any other Federal aircraft in range. "I sure hope this Feddie IFF is worth the price we payed."

The squadron of red FF-S3 Saberfish came up off the deck and cleared the low level Minovski interference that hung in the lower atmosphere.

"Jesus." whispered Mauser as the Federation air units came into view. There had to have been hundreds of planes if not thousands.
"We have been pinged by enemy Radar." Reported the backseat REO.

"FF-4 and FF-6 squadrons have completed refuling operations, we are clear to target. Flatmouse units are reporting no enemy top cover." reported one of the coordinations officers from the backseat of the Depp Rog.
"Sir we have a squadron out of position. I dont think they launched from Jaburo with us."

The pilot -callsign Tin Man- swore. "Hurry up and find out who they are before we enter Minovski scattering range."

"Aye sir." The unit coordinations officer took a minute to contact via some of the other bomber and interceptor groups before atlast getting a lasercom through the network to the new arrivals.

"They say they're with the Colombian Air Militia. IFF is a match but they dont have some of the updated security ratings we recently sent to Bogota."

"Damn Colombians never update their front line units. Stick them near the perimiter somewhere."

    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/16/10(Sat)23:54 No.12471308
Far ahead a pair of the Flatmouse recon aircraft pulled up in a tight arc and swung back toward the air wing.

"Recon Twelve reports edge of Minovski zone at 100km and closing."

"All units this is Tin Man. Fog line is at one hundred. Cod's and Toriares are to cut across their axis and try and draw ground fire. Don Escargot units deal with any Triple-A on site. All Saberfish are to hold at medium altitude and prepare to run intercept."

A flurry of 'rogers' and 'copies' followed from the commanders of the other air squadrons.

    "Fog line at twenty!"
"Copy. Tin Man to all Depp Rog's you are clear to begin your run. God speed."

The radio filled with static as they entered Minovski particle scattering range of Zeon held Cuba.
The pilot 'Tin man' nodded to his co-pilot and the two men increased throttle and pulled the nose up on their Depp Rog heavy Bomber.

"They've got atleast two emitters on the island looks like, perhaps three. One is deffinitely mobile and moving east, away from the target zone."

Up ahead a bright flash streaked out from the target area, passing some two kilometers above the bomber group.

"What the hell was that!?" Screamed the flight engineer.
"That's our target boys. Looks like the Zeeks are throwing a party for us."
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/16/10(Sat)23:59 No.12471346
"That's our cue." shouted Mauser over the unit laser-com. "Everybody on the roof!"

The dozen red FF-S3 Saberfish lit off their rocket engines and pointed their noses skyward.
Mauser was slammed into his seat by high gravity as his fighter rocketed upward on blue flames. They'ed been sure to time this attack so that it would go off after the Feddies entered Minovski range. Federation planes towards the rear of the formation might be able to see them but they wouldnt be able to radio to the lead aircraft. Laser com would be more difficult now with space between each squadron increasing as they prepared for their seperate missions.

"Height is thirty thousand!" Called out the REO as they passed beyond the altitude the air breathing jet engines could assist. Mauser rolled the plane using thrusters and leveled out at thirty five thousand meters. The rest of the squadron soon formed up with little trouble, most of them used to manuvering vehicles in micro gravity.

"Depp Rogs are at Twenty One thousand! Begin descent!"

With minimum thrust the Zeon pilots nudged their planes onto a course that would drop them right behind the Federation Heavy bombers. Before long the altimeter began to scroll down rapidly and drag started to pull at the fighter.

    "Thirty thousand."

Vibration began to run through the Saberfish from air friction. Speed above ground was likely closer to mach 4 than 3 at the moment.

    "Twenty five thousand!"
    "Engine start!"
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/17/10(Sun)00:03 No.12471379
Each Zeon pilot launched a pair of heat-seeking missiles at their target heavy Bombers. All of the fighters were past their targets before they could begin their roll and pull up. All around them explosions lit up the sky filling the air with burning debris. Bombers toward the rear of the group either had to pull up and risk a flame out or go around. To the Federal pilots' credit there was only one mid air collision, causing both craft to jetison their stores as they attempted to break off and regain control.
The bombers toward the front of the group soon found a dozen red fighters pelting their undersides with machinegun fire. One of Mauser's pilots was too close to his target on a strafing run and caught a stray bomb as the Depp Rog started to jettison its ordinance to lose weight.

"Red Three is down! No chute!"

Mauser ignored the report. Nothing he could do for a dead man. Tighting his turns he tried for deflection shots that wouldnt bring him into line with any dropped bombs. Without any nearby fighter escort the big bombers were as helpless as whales against Japanese Science ships. Still, those bombers that hadnt been hit refused to break formation.

After ripping a bomber in half with another pair of missiles Mauser and his wingman swung around to hit the four bombers still at the head of the squadron. Although still in formation they were now descendng and picking up speed. Even as he launched the last two missiles from his underside engine pods the bombers began dumping fuel and lit their afterburners.

"SHIT!" He cursed, breaking off as he realised what was happening.

The air behind the four bombers burst into flame from the dump and burn causing the missiles to detonate early.
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/17/10(Sun)00:05 No.12471395
Before he could come around for another pass his REO shouted out.
    "Bandits Eleven o'clock!"

Four Flatmouse recon planes streaked in at high speed from ahead of the bombers.

"Break! Break!" Mauser yelled at his wingman and both Zeon pilots wrenched their aircraft into a dive. Cannon fire filled the airspace they had just vacated immediately followed by the recon planes. Both Saberfish were rocked by the supersonic shockwaves from the passing Flatmouse flight.

"Mauser, they're carrying gunpods where the radar normally is!"

Up ahead the surviving Depp Rogs released their bombs.
    Mauser shook his head.
"Screw the enemy planes, Mission is scrubbed! All units break off and evade!"

Coming about he took his plane into a barrel roll that would make it hard for any fast moving Flatmouse to follow.

"This is twelve, I've spotted a second bomber group of Depp Rog's coming in hot."

"Fucking hell!" yelled Mauser. The Feddie Bombers that had already gotten through had probably caused enough damage. If another whole group got through there might not be ANY Zeon survivors.
Down below were easily more than one hundred Federation Saberfish climbing to deal with them before the rest of the bombers arrived.

"Three flight target the new bomber group. The rest of us are running interferance."
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/17/10(Sun)00:11 No.12471425
All the rest of the Zeon pilots lit off their rocket engines burning the remaining fuel as they closed with the new bombers. Mauser held off until he saw the Flatmouse flight descend from on high angling to come in on the tails of the rest of his squadron. Just before they were in position he kicked in his own rockets and screamed up after them triggering off one missile apiece from his topside engine pods. Four of the heat seekers struck three of the planes causing the fourth plane to break off.

Up ahead three flight launched the last of their missiles in their head to head, the rest of the Zeon planes diving down below them to deal with the climbing Fed interceptors.

"Incoming!" Shouted his REO followed by. "Flares! Flares!"
Mauser ripple fired half of his flares and then jettisoned the rocket engine pods for good measure before killing his thrust. A second later what seemed like thousands of missiles filled the sky in every direction around him. All of the jettisoned engine pods exploded from impacts and other missiles exploded into clouds of flak. Any of the other planes from his squadron he could see simply evaporated under the massed missile barrage.

Mauser's plane didnt escape unharmed either. Shrapnel tore through the port rudder yanking the plane around hard enough that his vision greyed out in his left eye. Using the control thrusters Mauser was able to pull out of the flat spin before the damaged craft could tear itself apart. Looking up through the canopy he was able to see that the pilots of three flight had done their job before they died. Tens of Federation missiles that had followed them detonated near planes from their own bomber group.
    >> Arty (Operation Terminus) 10/17/10(Sun)00:16 No.12471470
Pointing his plane straight down at the ocean he throttled back up, firing his machine guns at any Feddie plane in his way. A passing flight of Saberfish that were idling around the subsiding cloud of missile spam were too good a target to pass up though. There was enough time to unload gunfire into the cockpits of two and the engines of the third before he was past.

The fourth Feddie turned and followed him down, guns blazing. Juking back and forth to evade the fire wasnt enough and the metalic sound of bullets striking jet's body were distinctly audible. Instrument displays lit up red along the left side and in a flash a spiderweb of cracks covered the canopy on that side too. Mauser glanced back first over his left then right shoulder and was looking straight at it when a missile shredded the right engine.

"Feddie Medium Bombers coming in low and fast." reported the Terminus sensors tech

"They'll be aiming for our air defenses. Did we get any canister shot put together?" asked Wesell.
"Only two. I'm not sure we can traverse the gun low enough to hit any of the bombers."

"We dont have to hit them, just wait until they're close enough for the shockwave to knock them out of the air."
    "If you say so sir."

"And start disconnecting the Doms. The battle's close enough that we dont need the extra power."

The sonar display lit up as Federation bombs started to rain down anywhere they believed AA guns to be located. Which was everywhere.
Then the heavy hits from high altitude started to land. Rather than exploding on contact or detonating above ground in an air burst, these ones penetrated deep underground. Their explosive force sent shockwaves rippling through the surrounding earth and the hastily constructed bunkers.

    "Bunker busters!"

A dozen impacts from the heavy bombs walked their way across the anti-air defense zone. The last three bombs coming dangerously close to striking the Trebuchet itself. Shaking inside the command center continued long after it should have ended. The groan of walls buckling and the scream of steel tearing filled the air of every room and hallway.

    "Evacuate! Everyone out!"
"It sounds like the entire structure is compromised." mused Gerulf.
"I can hear that, let's go Chief!"
"I have to lock out the computers. Go sir!"

Wesell stared for a few second before realising there was nothing he could do to convince the other man. He ran. Although the shaking from the bunker busters had ended the carpet bombing from the Don Escargot's now threatened to collapse whatever was left.

Reaching the MS hanger Wesell made his way along the catwalks toward one of the sets of stairs. He knew he wasnt going to make it though. Bolts attaching the upper walkways to the walls ripped free of the concrete dropping a section close to the stairs.

"Shit." Looking around Pete spotted the cables hanging from the hanger cargo crane. Ripping off one of his shirt sleves he wrapped it around the cable so he wouldnt burn his hands on the way down. Before he could get his leg over the railing the walkway he was on gave out, plummeting twelve meters to the hanger floor.

Hanging on for dear life Wesell started to slide down the cable, his weight pulling him down faster than his grip could counter. He planted his feet on the crane hook once he had slid down far enough and halted his descent. From there it was a drop of about teen feet to the floor. Even rolling with the landing wasnt enough to keep from getting hurt, cracking an elbow against the hard floor.

    "Damn full gravity."

I wrote all of this just after the first Jaburo Assault. I posted some of the stuff about the construction stages of the Trebuchet not long after. Took me about a month at the time to change everything to fit with how apologised used it in the quest. I wasnt happy with how this part was all written at the time so I didnt post it and worked on it over a couple more weeks.
Then I promptly forgot about it all.

"Come on sir!" Shouted one of his men from the open back hatch on an APC. It was hard to hear though over the sound of the three Dom's stepping out of their maintinence bays... or the renewed rumbling for that matter.

"Additional Heavy bombers!" crackled the Chief's voice over the failing intercom.

Injured or not Wesell heaved himself to his feet and sprinted. A shockwave rippled through the hanger and one of the heavy support beams began to collapse. The closest Dom swivvled and caught one of the falling beams but all of the weight behind it pushed the MS back into the opposite wall.
Wesell could hear the concrete giving way but didnt look, he just jumped through the back hatch even as debris began to ping off the APC's topside. What seemed like a sheet of debris landed on them after that with even more rubble blocking the hatch. Another of the heavy braces dropped directly onto the vehicle, crushing it's small turret and bowing the roof of the crew compartment. Interior lights blew out from the force of the blow showering everyone inside with broken glass dropping them all into darkness.

"Sky One to Tin Man, Sky One to Tin Man; Minovsky scattering is letting up."

"Copy that, my boys are out of ordinance."
    "Status of enemy facility?"
"Out of action. Damage looks critical."

"Roger Tin Man. You are ordered to form up all combat elements and return to Jaburo ASAP. Our ship docks are under attack by enemy ground forces."

"Well shit, like we didnt have enough problems." He muttered to his copilot while changing frequencies.
"Tin Man to all units we are code Omega Two. Repeat: Code OMEGA TWO. Form by wings, try to stick together."

Unladen by bombs or much of their ammunition the Federal planes were able to beat a hasty retreat, rushing home to save their headquarters.

Flame and debris littered the field, the broken hulks of Federation planes and the Zeon anti-aircraft guns intermingled. Acrid smoke choked out the sunlight turning the former construction site as dark as night in places. Sonic booms from the fleeing Federal planes echoed though the air accompanied by the occasional explosion on the ground from munitions cooking off.

Within a half hour the worst of the smoke started to clear, the fires having exhausted any readily available fuel. The cool breeze blowing in off of the Caribbean did the rest. In one of the destroyed AA bunkers life stirred. A section of broken concrete wobbled slightly before being pushed out of the way by the solder trapped underneath. He pushed his way out feet first, kicking smaller blocks of debris out of the way. Looking thoroughly disheveled, covered in a mix of blood and concrete dust the young man heaved himself to his feet.

"Hello? Can anyone hear me?" His voice echoed through the burnt wasteland.
    "HELLO!" He shouted again.

The soldier, Frakes, sat and pulled his left boot off, shaking out the spare Dog tag he always kept there. Kissing it he held it up to the sky, still white with fading contrails.

Mauser leaned back watching the sun set and light fade from the sky. Water parted around the head of the Acguy he was hitching a ride on top of, the occasional wave reaching high enough to soak him with spray. With no room for a passenger and little chance of rescue craft being sent into this area he and the MS pilot had agreed this was the best solution.

After he'd ejected the MS had popped up out of the water to kill some Federation fighters that were lining up for a strafing run on him. Between the Acguy's Mega particle cannon and other large caliber guns the Federation fighters never stood a chance. The cover fire hadn't done his REO any good though, the man had already dead from a chunk of shrapnel the size of his hand before he hit the water.

"What the hell was his name? Ewert?" Mauser couldnt remember. That should have bothered him more than it did but he'd seen too many people killed in this war. He knew he probably should have fallen apart back in Mastodon Batallion but it just didnt seem to happen.

"Fuck this air war, I'm transferring back to the Space Attack Force."

(Yes I wrote this before Mauser became captain of the OH. I was as surprised as anyone.)

It was hours before search and recovery crews reached the site. Zaku Tanks and a heavily damaged Zaku II assisted a dozen other assorted vehicles that had helped build the base. Now they worked to tear it down and free any soldiers trapped in the rubble.

It was into the morning of the next day just before sunrise when they began to find survivors that hadnt escaped on their own. The mono-eye of one of the Dom's shifted back and forth after being uncovered, showing that the pilot was still alive and consious. Unfortunately the external sound pickups and loudspeaker were damaged making it hard to communicate. One of the techs eventually spraypainted 'dont move' onto the back of a roadsign and held it in front of the camera.

By 08:30 the Heavy MS was uncovered nearly down to it's waist allowing the pilot out. Lt. Sophie Fran appeared calm and collected despite having been trapped in a buried MS for several hours.
She saluted Lt. Sarn as he approached.
"There should be an APC full of base personel about four or five meters to the right of my Dom. The rest of my unit were already moving towards the bay exits."

"Thanks Lieutenant that gives us some places to look. Did you see the Commander in there by any chance?"
"I'm sorry sir, I was preocupied with the base collapsing around me."

"Right." Sarn looked confused for a second then shook his head. "Not used to having other officers call me sir."
"I'm still a Lieutenant Junior Grade so you do outrank me."

"I'll get used to it eventually. Dont worry about the rest of your MS team, we'll get them dug out."

A shadow crossed over the pair as a transport planes flew over. Sarn held up a hand to shield his eyes from the sun.
"Oh good, the spooks are here. Like I didnt have enough problems."

Everything else I've got is a jumbled mess of notes it seems.

The commander and the Doms are dug out and the surviving engineers are transferred to the Rio Grand defense line just as the Federation attack hits it. Mauser is Transferred to New York for reassignment. The Zeon positions in Cuba are largely abandoned except for some fiarly basic monitoring stations and a couple of older Zakus.

That also happened right smack in the middle of Operation Star One, and generally negotiating in a theatre of war is never a particularly smart idea. True, they didn't have much option at the time, but it'd be far better to arrange a meeting on neutral ground. Von Braun or Side 6, perhaps.

    >> Zeta Zaku 10/17/10(Sun)03:20 No.12473250
It depends. If he does, then all the Legitimacy needs is a reasonably watertight spin on it to implicate him, even if he covers all his tracks. Do that and Gihren crucifies himself for us. Possibly at the cost of our monarch, Revil, and maybe other significant members of the top brass and royal family.

The longer he goes on, the worse his position becomes, so he'll probably eventually just focus on taking as much of the Earth Sphere with him. It's actions like those, and the complete absence of moderates like Revil that ultimately lead to the rise of the Titans and Neo-Zeon's zealous philosophies.

We need to resurrect Zeon Zum Daikun's beliefs.

As much as I agree with you (which is a lot), if the cost of waiting to get into that situation is the deaths of more Zeonic soldiers then I'm against it. We should try to have him taken care of in the most expedient way, and if we wait for the opportunity to go for a gratuitous kill ourselves it might give him time to do more harm.

But if we can clone him, then sure, I'm all for killing his clone. And selling clones of him to be killed by other people.

I agree that he should be taken care of in the most expedient manner, but it also needs to be done quickly. The longer Gihren has a faction, the more resources are pulled his way rather than being concentrated against the Federation. If Incognito could get him, that'd be great, but we haven't seen any moves made toward that goal.
We may need to take direct action ourselves.

I believe that we should at least look into the option of doing this ourselves, rather than trusting that it will get taken care of by others.
    >> Researcher Sam 10/17/10(Sun)05:00 No.12474246
Yes, but what do you think will be quicker: sending an experienced spy and assassin to find his way into wherever Ghiren is staying and kill him and any guards, probably finishing the assignment within a few days, or us waiting to meet him in battle? I'm not suggesting a long-lasting spy mission where he goes under cover but a go-into-Ghiren's-hotel-and-kill-everyone-no-one-was-spared-not-even-the-children mission.

And of COURSE we haven't seen any sign that this kind of thing is being done; something like this would be kept secret, even from us! For all we know, Incognito was filling Ghiren with lead while we were helping NEll! Okay, it's not likely, but what I'm saying is that just because Garma hasn't said anything to us doesn't mean that someone a bit more aggressive like Kycillia hasn't already sent someone to take care of him, and I doubt that she'd send anyone less competent than Incognito.

If no one else can do it besides us, or the oppertunity for us to take him out ourselves presents itself, fine. But we were not trained for undercover work or assassinations, and if it comes down to getting someone(s) to go assassinate Ghiren, I'd rather have someone better at it than us doing it.
    >> Anonymous 10/17/10(Sun)05:05 No.12474300
All very good points, but that should not prevent us from at least coming up with a workable plan in case the opportunity presents itself. And while there may already be several black ops assassination attempts on Gihren already, the fact of the matter is that he is still alive, and the assassins haven't killed him yet.

Now, call me crazy, but WHAT IF he's already been killed and they've managed to set up a false Ghiren who will now start to shift his faction's intentions in ways that hinder the Federation whilst staying out of the way of Legitimacy forces, thus letting us use his side as a shield and spear with which to stike and defend from the Federation while leaving our forces less exposed.

Well, we have some time before the Outer Heaven finishes repairs, and Garma has suggested that we go to Grenada to speak with his sister on what to do about Gihren.
After that, we could go down, smash the Federation side of the Rio Grande Line, and see if we can't finally put Jaburo out of commission.

It'll be nice if Midnight Fenrir got them, or that somebody was able to evacuate with them.
Otherwise I hope the reactors were spiked to overload and the I-field to go down when the Feds reached that point as a final going away present.

Was talking to my father who's as much of an armchair /k/ommando as myself. He suggested a counter intelligence op to make the Federation think Girhen had something of value in Africa as a way of tying up the Odessa forces. Since Africa has plenty of natural resources he suggested a Zeon equivilant to Luna Titanium: a diamond carbide material.
Now I dont know if the Federation would buy it or if they did if they'd see it as enough of a threat but I thought it was worth mentioning.

A fascinating plot. We could suggest it when we go to Grenada.
If we're going with a false flag operation like that, it might be good to stage some fake fights between Legitimacy and Loyalist forces where the information could be dropped.
Even better if we then make the Loyalists think that the Legitimacy really is developing some kind of new armor in Africa, so that they send THEIR forces in too, and the Federation and Loyalists forces can fight each other while we stage another attack Jaburo.

Actually, since Africa does have lots of natural resources, what about setting up a second Odessa in Africa?
And then have it leak out of a research facility down there of a new material being developed and some preliminary reports showing that it's almost equivalent to Luna Titanium but only 3/4 the cost, and then have the report gagged under top secret classification as soon as the Loyalists and Federation get wind of it.
If they don't believe it, we still get a second Odessa for resources.
If they do believe it, then the Loyalists and Federation will be spending resources on a wild goose chase, shooting at each other the whole way.

We should do an elaborate, Operation Mincemeat-style operation. Create a believable intelligence leak and make it look like we really don't want this information out.

This is the most advanced intelligence operation in WWII. Check it out.

    Holy fuck yes!
We need to include a transport with a sample of this material apparently under attack, and the defenders preferring to overload the reactors on their Zaku's rather than allow the sample to be captured.

Guys, this is Incognito's area of operations, not ours.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/10(Mon)13:39 No.12489599
Just because it's Incognito's job, doesn't mean we can't make special requests. If they don't think it's workable, then we'll leave it at that.
But we should still come up how the plan could be executed; it's still only Apologised doing everything, not an entire Military Intelligence organization.

Uh, Girhen's loyalists already hold Africa that's the second reason for wanting the Feds to attack it: It's not ours.

    >Actually, since Africa does have lots of natural resources, what about setting up a second Odessa in Africa?
Please see above, it wouldnt reall help us much as long as Girhen has it.

If the Loyalists have that much control over Africa, wouldn't it be more difficult to make the Federation believe such a story?

Kycilla and the Legitimacy could stage a mock battle close to Federation patrols, with a Legit force trying to get away from a Loyalist pursuit force. Have them wiped out, and maybe send an ace unit (preferably one experienced with special operations) to attempt 'recapture' of the documents which show that the Loyalists may have developed a new type of armor, equal to Lunar Titanium, in Africa.

A possible hiccup is in whether the Federation knows about the Zeon Civil War. If they don't, we would be better served by going with the way Operation Mincemeat was carried out. If they do, the fake battle scenario could be used (dependent on what Apologised finally decides).

Oh god. Zeonquest 2's april fools will be a Gihren quest, where you are an escaped clone of Gihren. Are you a bad enough dude to survive the universe wanting you dead?
    >> Anonymous 10/18/10(Mon)21:14 No.12494377
Meh. If he is different enough that he doesn't share the original's thinking and wants, I'm sure that Garma and the others won't put him to death. Alternately, get plastic surgery.

You are now visualizing a Paranoia campaign where the party are clones of the Zabi family.
