(I love it, quite generic. I'll wait for atleast two more suggestions before continuing, have some exposition.)

Around Raphael the war camp is bustling with activity. The camp was not completely constructed, and the setup would not be finished for a good hour. Nevertheless, small tents dot the eastern bank of the river, and a few simple fortifications have been set in place at the perimeter of camp.

Raphael has an Arcanine behind him, but it is unclear if it belongs to him.

Raphael coughs, he is obviously impressed by my manliness "Oh, right, your quarters will be over in the south of camp, the white tent."

The white tents have slightly better accommodations, or so you heard. The south of camp is mostly untrained recruits though. I know which tent he is talking about.

My Aggron shifts behind me, he is ready to leave.

I cannot think of anything else to say to Raphael so I leave with a salute.

I head into the southern end of camp. A soldier's rattata sparring with another's sentret catches my eye. They are uncoordinated and poor at following orders. I'm not expecting big things from these sort of soldiers... By Arceus, I'll probably die in the first battle.

Damascus, my Aggron, looks at me funny.

He must of overheard one of my thoughts about riding on his shoulders. We share a weak telepathic bond that was developed over the years.

The fighting sentret tripped on a rock, and the rattata appears to have been distracted by my Damascus. I should probably say something impressive or manly to get the soldiers' attention.

"Aggression! Time for a dynamic entry..."

The Aggron with grab us and pitch us at the two sparring, before berating the trainers for not sparring themselves. I feel sufficiently manly. Damascus seems slightly pumped up because of my manly speech.

The soldiers are all looking at me now. A few of them break their stares and begin sparring amongst themselves.

I may want to pick out soldiers with interesting pokemon to befriend. It may help to know what I can do with them before a real battle begins. I spot a slakoth, beedrill, poliwhirl, and magmar immediately. They stand out among the other small and worthless runts. Which one's owner should I speak with first?

Our pokemon follow our example and begin fighting each other. The beedrill takes advantage of its flight and speed to keep Damascus from hitting, and the beedrill seems to be employing a technique I'd call 'brick break,' he's abusing Damascus's steel and rock typing. Damascus resorts to tossing rocks, dirt, and iron spikes at the beedrill.

    >FLASH

Damascus tosses his arms toward the sun and a blinding light engulfs Michael and his beedrill. I uncover my eyes to check the damage, Michael seems temporarily handicapped but his beedrill seems unfazed. Damascus prepares himself as the beedrill charges at him and uses the Metal Burst technique. I rush at Michael and swing my hammer at him just hard enough to knock him down. Michael nods, he is obviously out of breath. I should let him rest for now. I'll probably have time before nightfall to visit one more trainer. The woman mutters something under her breath and raises her arms in a smooth motion, a small line of water snakes out of the ground and toward her hand, forming a ball in her hand. She makes a few careful motions and the water slowly forms a square in front of her. She looks at her Poliwhirl, it nods and throws a punch at the square of water.

The water acts as a shield and absorbs most of the punch. Right after poliwhirl pulls his fist back though, the shield shatters and falls to the ground as plain water.

So, here is the question, who do I invite to my table to eat with me? Everybody in my division is here, and a few other various soldiers in the southern camp but in different divisions.

I can probably fit five people at my table including myself. I could probably sit among my soldiers too, but that may send a message of equality I may not want.

Also remember that the people I eat with will probably get noticed. For example, Michael is an all around good soldier, and inviting him would be a good idea; on the other hand inviting Abel may send to message that I reward incompetency.

Whoever I sit with I will also get to know better, inviting the Magmar trainer would allow me to have her introduce herself. (I can see the magmar trainer, she is a red head with cropped hair and a disciplined look, most likely she was put in my division because she was a woman, not because she was incompetent in other divisions.

The magmar trainer introduces herself as Melisande, but says little else in respect for the other officers at the table.

My fellow officers have a good time explaining their various escapades and the quality of each division.

"You see, most of the Eighth Heavy division are left overs that couldn't fit into other divisions. Women, levies, and aged veterans mostly."

The officer--Second in command of the Second Flight Division, name Arthur--points at me.

"You did a good job in straightening them out so quickly, it's surprising. Just remember that your division's best are probably older, female, or..." he points at Michael, "should probably be in a different division than Heavy."

Well he's Flight Division material, you may want to hold you division back in battles, and let the other Heavy Units take the damage... if you want your division to live past day one."

We head out across the river and into the desert immediately after sunset. It is hard to see, but it would be unwise to light a torch, it would attract attention. The desert is quiet and virtually pitch black, Gwen leads the way with her poliwhirl's psychic vision. She leads us to a hole, after a quick examination Michael confirms his beedrill can smell drapion and skorupi inside.

I am about to poke inside with my warhammer to see if I can stir one awake to capture it, but Tranter stops me and points at a group of torches on the horizon.

The group of torches appears to be a Saracen scouting party, but twelve strong instead of the five or six Arthur said would be normal. They are heading directly for us, and will probably be here in three or four minutes.

We can't exactly run anywhere, where we stand by the nest is slightly indented into the ground, and surrounded by rocks, but there is no cover elsewhere. We won't be able to leave the area around the nest without being spotted...

(GOOD NIGHT /tg/! Hope one of you think of something nice for tomorrow's thread. I'm hoping for creative ideas but I'll throw out that Damascus and Melisande's Magmar can be used as trump cards. Damascus can deflect a few powerful attacks with Metal Burst, and Magmar can use smokescreen at the right time to throw the Saracens off guard.)

    Interesting.

(I got to go mow, but I'll "bump" it)
I'd have Damascus dig under the sand and spring up below the party, while Magmar use smokescreen, have Abel and Slaking rush as soon both Damascus and Magmar hit. Followed by the rest, with Gwen and Poliwhirl at range for escapees.

Reason with Abel and Slaking is that I want their strength and size to my advantage. With being attacked from below and not being able to see having Slaking and Abel rush in crushing those in their wake should be helpful.

BTW do we have pokeballs? Because how are we going to get new pokemon for our division without them.
