    72 KB Rogue Trader Quest: Part 4 Tablet !!0fEYB5hrFn3 10/04/10(Mon)22:50 No.12331592
    Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12317800/

In an age that knows no peace, only war and the laughter of thirsting gods, the Rogue Trader Dolemite Deadlift compares the pros and cons of sleeping with a mentally disturbed woman who can kill him with a thought. Pro: she can look inside his head and do everything he loves. Con: she can look inside his head, and know just how creepy he finds her most of the time. Pro: loyalty is ensured. Con: she has no human contact save him, and will likely begin stalking, if she hasn’t already. Pro: seeing as he was the one who deflowered her, he knows at the very least she won’t give him a disease. Con: she was a virgin, and thus is a.) clumsy, and b.) very clingy. Just another day in the life of a Rogue Trader.

As rests in yet another ridiculously comfy chair in his secret lounge, the man places another celery stick in his mouth and watches more old holo-vids. Having been caught in the deed not only by his seneschal who did not approve of such a relationship, but by his silent archmilitant Ripley and the androgynous voidmaster known as Gabriel, Dolemite decided he would like some private time before arrival on the unexplored planet. Unknown dangers creep behind every corner in a venture such as this, and he needs to be at his best. The few things known about the planet was that it was mostly water covered, and human life had been confirmed by the astropath. As per his Warrant of Trade, it is Captain Deadlift’s duty to bring the planet back into the Imperium.

Currently, the Igneus Aequitas is set to arrive in orbit in roughly an hour, and as your first official act as a Rogue Trader, you’re scheduled to be at the bridge for the historic moment that will remembered throughout history as the beginning of the Deadlift dynasty. Will this excursion blessed with good fortune, or doomed to failure? Your choices decide it’s fate.

Guess you had best get up. You know, normally getting laid puts you in a good mood. Guess sleeping with one of the creepiest women you’ve ever met does that to you. Admittedly, it was nice while it lasted. In hindsight though, it probably wasn’t your smartest move. For now you had best put it out of mind. You’ve got a mission ahead of you, and that can be dealt with.

You stealthily exit the lounge to keep it a secret and make your way to the bridge. Along the way you are found by your seneschal. Obviously, he still disapproves given his stern face. That could be his normal stern face you acknowledge, but given how you previously parted its more than likely. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem the guy who would let that get in the way of business. Before he can comment on your ‘misdeeds,’ you cut him off by elling his to have the senior staff wear their best decorative gear for the event. The seneschal quickly closes his mouth and disappears into the shadows.

    What next?

You arrive on the bridge, and not long after the Seneschal does as well. As per usual, he is dressed in his masterfully tailored suit, and thus had no need for the occasion. You, on the other hand are wearing your most decadent clothing, with your carapace armor hidden underneath. In its scabbard your powersword waits at your side, while you plasma pistol is set to safety in its holster. Once you take your seat on the bridge, you place your dashing hat upon your head and inquire as to the state of things. The scanning probes are prepared for deployment the second the Igneus drops out of warp. Gabriel has the orbital shuttles and accompanying fighter squadrons primed for launch, though he’s still a bit upset about not being allowed to napalm the planet to the warp.

As for the ground forces, three two hundred and fifty men units are prepared for ground action at your command, while Ripley and his four hundred man unit will be personally accompanying you to whatever capitol it is this planet has. H1256-J47 will also be accompanying you with a small retinue of tech priests, and a small unit will be attached to each ground unit. Jet has also announced that he will accompany you once he sobers up, as Imperial mandates states that the official missionaries must be present whenever possible a planet makes contact with the Imperium for the first time. He will have similar squads consisting of clergy attached to the ground forces as well. So far, that seems to be the extent of it.

In pairs and singles, gradually the rest of the senior staff makes their way to the bridge. To you left stands the seneschal, and to your right Ripley, your silent guardian. Assembled around you are the rest of your upper staff in various forms of dress. In light of your orders to wear the best they’ve got, Ripley appears to be in his military dress uniform which is covered in medals. One of them, you notice, depicts a bear carrying an artillery shell leaving you to wonder at the story behind it. Gabriel has a fancier flight mask on, while Jet has his priestly vestments on topped off with what he calls a holy pimp hat. H1256-J47 is wearing a red robe as usual, but this one seems to lack any oil stains. Of course, it could just be he turned his normal robe inside out, but you don’t ask. The Navigator obviously is absent, due to piloting the ship, while your astropath is curiously absent. Where could she be.

The Igneus Aequitas is set to drop out in the next five minutes. Gathered around you are you best and brightest, which honestly might not be saying a lot. The bridge operators are working at full force, doing their best to impress you. Around the room you spy several crew members with video recorders, obviously there to record this momentous occasion. Well, guess you best give them a speech or some orders.

To that end we shall carry ourselves with the dignity and grace such a lofty position carries with it. I fully expect that each and every member of this ship's crew will act with the greatest of decency. This is not some heretical world, or some Xeno hellhole, it is a planet lost to Man! It is our duty, as citizens of the Imperium, and as official representatives to give this planet every opportunity to prove its loyalty.

Do not mistake my tolerance for weakness. Should it be necessary, this mighty vessel shall bring down the very heavens themselves upon these people! The senior staff and members of the crew clap their hands in approval as Jet steps up to make the customary speech about the benevolence of mankind and how those who oppose the Imperium would surely be crushed. Stereotypical fire and brimstone deal, really. However, it’s not the content of his speech, but the way he presents it. In an instant he’s sobered up and launched into his tirade with a fiery passion few could mimic. No doubt this is what allowed him to rise so high in the ranks of the priesthood given his passions. He stands up as if high upon a podium, and reaches out to those present with the skill of a master orator. You’ve heard of entire worlds rebelling against heretical governor at the behest of the Ecclesiarchy before, but this is the first time you’ve seen such a thing in action. Good thing he’s on your side.

After ten minutes or so of his passionate speech on the divine benevolence of the God Emperor and the fury that shall be unleashed upon those who transgress against his will, he steps back down. Right in time too, as the ship begins to shake with turbulence as it exits the warp.

Through the holo screen on the bridge, you gaze upon this untouched world. The planet is beautiful to gaze upon, though you know from plenty of experience that appearances can be deceiving. White clouds dot the sky, and below it large pools of blue cover the planet. A strip of verdant green goes around the equator, serving as the only land mass distinctly visible save for a few dots you assume to be islands. The world seems so pure compared to the hive worlds you’ve seen before from above, or even your home planet of Domus. The probes are released immediately, and with the next hour or so should have a basic overland map ready.

H1256-J47 contemplates your comment for a moment, before saying, “Equatorial bulge likely indicates heavy tectonic activity towards the equator. Considering the lack of most other defining land masses, distinct possibility of few, if only two continental plates, though unlikely to be that limited. Look down towards the poles, there are almost no glaciers or large portions of ice buildup. Indicates warm to tropical climate year round in most of the planet. The main land mass must be very rocky and mountainous, while the shores are likely swampland. Not a very pleasant place for low tech machinery. From basic appearances, the world does not have any artificial satellites, or major sources of pollution, indicating pre steam power technological status. Could be that the humans have regressed to such a state that no technology as we know it in use. Most likely places of technological caches are in the mountains in bunkers, or down on the poles underground.”

    Well that was certainly verbose.

Hm, those Tau the Navigator mentioned could be a problem if they found out the Imperium were poking around in their back yard. Even worse if they find there are humans present they could convert to their foul, “Greater Good.” You shutter with revulsion, remembering one of your old missions in Ordo Xenos when you went undercover on a Tau world. Not something you desire to experience again, that’s for sure. You look to one of the bridge member’s operating the sensors and inquire if any alarms have somehow been alerted, specifically any of xeno design. The bridge member, a woman in her late twenties, freezes from holding your attention, and manages to sputter out that there seem to be no xeno alarms that were detected.

He swiftly departs, only to return in a minute or so later with a bottle and several glasses. It’s really amazing how he just has these things ready whenever. Guess that must be that secret training he said was confidential. With your little speech over, most of the crew members there for the speech as departed, and only the bridge members concentrating solely at work and the senior staff remain. Once more you fall into your luxuries chair, crafted in a manner befitting a Rogue Trader such as yourself. The senior staff takes their own seats and begins to relax, though Gabriel and H1256-J47 soon depart. As the seneschal begins to pour drinks, Jet interrupts him, claiming to be the only with an actual bartender license on the bridge. Soon enough he’s dispensing drinks like the pro he is, and a good mood finds itself on the bridge.

Also ask someone if they could locate our astropath so we could see the data she pulled up once more lest we forgot something?
    >> Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)01:28 No.12333441

Sip your drink, and watch the data come in.

"So, Jet, how does a missionary come by a bartending license?"

We are lords now. Idle chit-chat is not appropriate on the eve of conquest for us.
    >> Tripe 10/05/10(Tue)01:34 No.12333491
Well we could at least ask what experience they have in this type of operation and hypothesis what we'll encounter. Make an idle game of it instead of seeing it as this huge thing. It is beneath us.

Thankfully, during your long career in the inquisition and indeed your entire life you have managed to go without any bodily modification or mechanical augmentation. You have very few principles in life, and not getting maimed happens to be one of them.

You begin some small talk amongst the group, and learn some odd bits of information, like Jet’s record for sleeping with women reaches into the teens, and he has been looking to improve upon that. Not long into the conversation, a bridge member announces the probes have finished their basic scan. As exciting as that news is, you continue to grow slightly frustrated no one has turned up any information on your creepy little astropath.
    >> Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)01:37 No.12333528

Ask directly "Is the datafeed to the astropath working? She's supposed to be running augeries in case there is hidden chaos taint on this world." let a slight note of annoyance creep into your voice.

    >frustrated astropath
Damn straight we are... It's ominous. We'd go looking for her ourselves if we didn't have a planet to exploit.

Once everyone's finished their drink (or in Jet's case, his hair of the dog.) send them to their departments to prepare for the landing action, and then stare moodily out into the void awaiting the scans completion (and then timeskip to said event plox)

But how can we be grimdark without a headtube?
Not even a nostriltube? Can we get a nostriltube?

“We seem to be getting limited reports sir. I suppose she’s just taking her time with each of them. Nothing dangerous seems to be indicated in any of them yet,” a minor functionary reports.

    1) find a carbo-silicate amorph
    2) hire it
    3) give it a plasma cannon
    4) ????
    5) profit

Well, she's in her room doing like we asked. So that's good. "Keep me informed"

    Timeskip to next event?

This has been my favourite quest thread since that one where the Tau loli became a Necron Lord.

Well, this has been an interesting day. You’ve slept with a creepy as hell and likely insane astropath who’s your only connection to the galaxy at large, formally (re)discovered a planet, and made all kinds of speeches. Things can only get better, right?

    End Day 4

    End Session 4

Alright, I;ve got a Biology lab in the morning, so I'm ending this one a little early as I warned yesterday. I'll make a longer one tomorrow, but until then this will have to do.

Any Questions before I go to bed?
    >> Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)01:55 No.12333715

He mentioned last night this was going to be a short session.

Fair enough really. Real life takes precedence.
    >> Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)01:57 No.12333736

You mentioned in the other thread about our captain being intimate with a Genestealer when he was in the inquisition. What other unusual things/people has he slept with?

It seems like our character has a real taste for strange and crazy.
    >> Tablet !!0fEYB5hrFn3 10/05/10(Tue)01:58 No.12333753
He did not actualy, but he was just saying weird shit happens in this galaxy. Funny story actually, I'll write about it next quest.

    Any others?

    What time tomorrow?
    >> Tablet !!0fEYB5hrFn3 10/05/10(Tue)02:02 No.12333794
Probably 9 eastern, or 8 central, depending on if I have something going on.

Anyway, somebody put the quest up on suptg, so please go vote for it.
