You join the digital conference. It's between Regent and several key members of the UN. His face drops as soon as you guys enter the discussion.
"So, what are they doing here?"
"You'll see. In any case, you wanted to negotiate ownership of Pandora?"
Apparently Pentex is offering several trillion for ownership and also only asks for $50b per Pandorium engine, designed solely for UN starships.
This is how the UN responds:
A Weyland-Yutani representative joins the discussion.
"Judging from the reports we've recieved from SLINT, you're just not trust-worthy. And before you speak, the UN has its own research department. We know all about the Umbra and its secrets, just as they do. You can't fool either of us.
"We're granting ownership of Pandora to what has been the most productive and trust-worthy corporation so far: Weyland-Yutani. We shall purchase Pandorium engines from then for $25b a ton, which we shall use as we please.
"SLINT, your job is to ensure that no one else gets their hands on Pandora. You will no longer be assisted in this process by Pentex and if any Pentex starship appears in Alpha Centauri space, you have full authority to shoot it down.
"However, for security purposes, no military starship that you own that exists in Alpha Centauri is allowed to leave Alpha Centauri - for security purposes. If we detect an armed vessel leaving the system, you will be fined two hundred and fifty billion Do you understand?"
Well, do you? What are your opinions and do you accept this deal?
